David Hawig never set out to work in blockchain. He began his career in health tech, drawn to the potential of scaling impactful solutions. But it was the promise of a more transparent and user-controlled internet that ultimately led him to the Web3 Foundation, where he now serves as Director of Ecosystem Development and Investor Relations. In our conversation on the Tech Talks Daily Podcast, David shares why Web3 is not just a trend or buzzword, but a complete rethink of how digital systems should function. He describes a world where users own their data, can verify transactions without relying on central authorities, and can move between services without friction. To David, the Web3 movement is not about hype or speculation. It's about enabling a future where the internet is built on truth, not trust. At the heart of the Web3 Foundation's work is Polkadot, a protocol designed to solve the scalability and interoperability challenges that plague many early blockchain networks. David explains that Polkadot's sharded infrastructure allows workloads to be split across participants in a trustless way. This setup not only enables more transactions but positions the ecosystem to support millions of users as mainstream adoption accelerates. That acceleration, he argues, is already happening. Thanks to new regulations like the Clarity Act and Genius Act in the US, enterprise adoption is becoming a reality. Where Web3 once attracted only startups and crypto-native communities, today major companies, including sports brands and entertainment groups, are actively building in the space. Unlike earlier efforts that felt more like PR stunts, these companies now see tangible benefits. Web3 can deliver faster, cheaper, and more flexible digital services, available 24/7, with no lock-in to single vendors. David is especially passionate about removing the barriers that have made Web3 feel intimidating to the average user. While early blockchain projects often demanded technical knowledge and wallet key management, he sees a future where users interact with Web3 products as easily as they would a mobile app. Behind the scenes, cryptography and decentralization are doing the heavy lifting, but from the user's perspective, the experience is seamless. One area David is particularly excited about is decentralized storage. As more businesses realize the risks of relying on centralized cloud giants, alternatives are emerging that offer both cost advantages and greater control. He sees this as a critical part of the broader shift toward self-sovereign infrastructure. When asked if large corporations truly understand the scale of the disruption ahead, David is cautious but optimistic. Many established players, he says, still underestimate how quickly network effects can take hold. Once enough users and companies move into Web3 ecosystems, the old models will no longer be competitive. Whether it's financial services, social media, or identity management, the shift toward user-owned infrastructure will be difficult to reverse. Looking ahead to 2026 and beyond, David points to the upcoming Jam upgrade as a major milestone. This next evolution of the Polkadot network is designed to dramatically improve scalability, supporting not just crypto-native transactions but also broader use cases in gaming, ticketing, payments, and more. The goal is clear: create a robust, low-cost, interoperable infrastructure capable of supporting millions of users across different networks and applications. Before signing off, David leaves listeners with a recommendation. He suggests reading Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl, a book he returns to often when reflecting on motivation and purpose. It's a fitting choice for someone working at the edge of one of the most transformative shifts in modern tech. The Web3 Foundation is not just funding protocols or building tools. It's laying the groundwork for a future where the internet belongs to everyone. And if David's predictions are right, that future may arrive faster than we think.

The publication's over 70 freelance critics (many of them with decades of experience) cover dance, film, food, literature, music, television, theater, video games, and visual arts. There is a robust readership for arts coverage that believes that culture matters. The goal of The Arts Fuse is to treat the arts seriously, to write about them in the same way that other publications cover politics, sports, and business — with professionalism, thoughtfulness, and considerable attitude. The magazine's motto, from Jonathan Swift, sums up our editorial stance: “Use the point of your pen … not the feather.” The Arts Fuse has published over 7,000 articles and receives 60,000+ visits a month. This year they are celebrating their 5th birthday, a milestone for a small, independent magazine dedicated to covering the arts. Why The Arts Fuse? Its birth was a reaction to the declining arts coverage in newspapers, magazines, radio, and television. When the number of news pages shrink in the mainstream media, attention is paid. But the continual whittling down of arts coverage has been passed over in silence. Editor-in-Chief Bill Marx started the magazine to preserve the craft of professional arts criticism online, while also looking at new and innovative ways to evolve the cultural conversation and bring together critics, readers, and artists.Serious criticism, by talking about the strengths, weaknesses, and contributions of the arts, plays an indispensable role in the cultural ecology. Smaller, newer organizations need a response. When they are ignored as they are by the mainstream media, they fail to gain an audience. And without an audience, they fold, further weakening the entire ecosystem.Assist The Arts Fuse in their mission: to keep arts and culture hale and hearty through dialogue rather than marketing.SUBSCRIBE to the weekly e-newsletterLIKE The Arts Fuse on Facebook, FOLLOW on TwitterHELP The Arts Fuse thrive by providing underwriting for the magazine. In this episode, Jeanette Friedrich, Director of Investor Relations at Blue Lake Capital, pulls back the curtain on what happens after the deal closes. She shares real-world examples, highlights common challenges, and explains why successful asset management is critical to protecting investor capital. What you'll learn in this episode: - Why the real work in multifamily begins after the acquisition - How operational challenges can affect both tenant experience and investor returns - What daily property management actually involves, from emergencies to pricing strategies - The hidden costs of running a property and how they impact net operating income - How experienced operators use data, structure, and discipline to maintain performance - The difference between short-term returns and long-term asset preservation - Why the quality of the operator is just as important as the quality of the deal Whether you're a passive investor or looking to understand the operational side of real estate, this episode will give you a clearer picture of what it takes to run an apartment complex successfully. This episode of Money Tales is about the balancing act between time and money. Our guest, Lauren DiCerbo, watched her mom pause a career to raise kids—then start over as a temp to rebuild it. That experience shaped Lauren's approach when she faced the same fork in the road as a new mom during the pandemic. Instead of choosing between work and parenting, she built a consulting business that values flexibility over income. Lauren DiCerbo is the founder of Magenta Mountain, a consulting practice focused on fractional investor relations for fund managers and strategic operations for founders. She brings a thoughtful and pragmatic lens to her work, shaped by a career spanning alternative investments, institutional asset management, and early-stage fund operations. Lauren began her career in finance at a fund of funds investing in hedge funds and private equity, giving her foundational exposure to a wide range of managers, strategies, and investor expectations. Most recently, she served as Head of Investor Relations at a quantitative global equities fund, where she was a strategic partner to clients including family offices, foundations, pensions, and other institutional investors. She works with emerging and established managers across private equity, venture capital, and hedge funds—bringing a cross-functional perspective to investor relations and fund infrastructure. Earlier in her career, Lauren held client service and human resources roles at global firms, deepening her understanding of how organizations scale and operate effectively. Motivated by the challenge of building clarity, efficiency, and long-term relationships, she enjoys partnering with funds and founders to drive operational and strategic decision-making that enables growth. Lauren holds a BS in Human and Organizational Development from Vanderbilt University and currently serves as Co-Chair of 100 Women in Finance, Northern California—where she leads programming and community-building for women in the financial sector. Lauren lives in the Bay Area and enjoys hiking in the redwoods with her family.

In this episode, CJ is joined by Chris Greiner, CFO of Zeta Global and former CFO of IBM's analytics division, where he worked on AI during the development of Watson. He's had a front-row seat to the evolution of AI across industries. He's also on a 15-quarter streak of beat-and-raise performance in his current role. Chris breaks down how strong financial stewardship can be a launch pad for innovation, not a constraint, and unpacks his “Closest to code, closest to customer” philosophy. The conversation covers how to determine whether a company's data advantage is real or just storytelling, what Chris learned from cataloging every task in the finance org, and why some things are better left unautomated. He explains what's on his personal IPO pre-flight checklist, how and why Zeta Global tracks daily revenue, and the “hustle metric” as a predictor of good salespeople. Interview with Jason Banducci, VP of Corporate Development & IR of Integra Resources Corp. Our previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/integra-resources-tsxvitr-nevada-gold-producer-targets-300k-oz-with-60m-war-chest-7268Recording date: 15th July 2025Jason Banducci serves as Vice President of Corporate Development and Investor Relations at Integra Resources, where he oversees business growth initiatives and maintains relationships with the investment community. His professional journey began at TD Bank in lending before pursuing an MBA at Queen's University, which led him to mining investment banking at GMP Securities (later acquired by Stiefel Financial). During his nearly five-year tenure in investment banking, he developed expertise in mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, and deal structuring that would prove invaluable in his current role.Banducci's connection to mining runs deep through his family, as his mother served as CFO of IAMGold for 15 years, exposing him early to the industry's potential and global impact. His transition to Integra Resources came through his work as an investment banker, where he helped former CEO Jason Kosec establish Millennial Precious Metals, raising $24 million for their TSX-V listing. The eventual merger of Millennial Precious Metals with Integra Resources brought Banducci into his current position. In his dual role, Banducci manages corporate development activities including due diligence, transaction structuring, and strategic acquisitions, while simultaneously handling investor relations responsibilities such as creating corporate materials, organizing conferences, and serving as the external face of the company. His most significant achievement has been spearheading Integra Resources' transformation from an exploration and development company to a producing gold company through the strategic acquisition of Florida Canyon mine from Alamos Gold's spin-off of Argonaut assets. This acquisition addressed the fundamental challenge facing development-stage mining companies: the constant need for equity financing due to lack of cash flow. The Florida Canyon mine now generates 15-20 million dollars in annual free cash flow, eliminating the need for regular equity raises and providing capital to advance the company's development projects, Delamar and Nevada North. Banducci views this strategic positioning in Nevada's mining-friendly jurisdiction as optimal for attracting investment capital, particularly given the current focus on geopolitical stability and simple, low-capital heap leach gold projects that appeal to investors seeking exposure to precious metals in stable jurisdictions.—View Integra Resources' company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/integra-resourcesSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

Prior to his current role, Jim spent two years as a loaned executive to Elanco Animal Health, which was spun out of Lilly in an IPO in 2018. Jim served as the Vice President of Investor Relations at Elanco. He was responsible for leading all interactions with Sell-Side Analysts and Buy-Side Investors, including preparation of Earnings materials, participation in Investor Conferences, Non Deal Roadshows and investor visits to Elanco Headquarters. He conducted investor outreach and targeting to build understanding of the Elanco investment thesis. Prior to joining Lilly, Mr. Greffet was a Consulting Manager for KPMG Consulting in Indianapolis, Indiana and St. Louis, Missouri. Jim Joins Sustainable Nation to Discuss: Eli Lilly's Approach to ESG Lilly's 30 by 30 initiative to improve healthcare for 30 million people by 2030 Progress toward goals and targets without the use of carbon offsets Advice and recommendations for sustainability professionals Jim's Final Five Questions Responses: What is one piece of advice you would give other sustainability professionals that might help them in their careers? Two words. Be pragmatic. This was a theme that came up in our conversation. There's the lunatic fringe on everything, and certainly in this space, on both ends of the spectrum. Tie your sustainability work to the purpose of your organization, be pragmatic, think in common sense terms, and you'll make a whole lot more progress. What are you most excited about right now in the world of sustainability? In the short four and a half years, this world has changed a lot. I think when I first came into it, it was sporadic, voluntary reporting by organizations, maybe a little bit of ‘accentuate the positive.' It evolved into more rigorous and disciplined financial reporting. Over the last 18 months or so, I think we've seen the heavy hand of regulation start to come about, especially in Europe, which creates a lot more overhead. I think all of us would rather deploy our energy and resources to doing things than reporting about them. So to the exciting part, I now think we're starting to see a little bit more sensibility prevail in some of these regulations, maybe lifting the heavy hand of regulation a little bit so that we can have consistent, rigorous, well constructed reporting that's doable and doesn't take us away from the mission that we have in front of us. I'm optimistic and excited that we're going to land in a spot that's doing the right thing for the right reasons, consuming the right amount of energy. What is one book you'd recommend sustainability professionals read? George Seraphim, Purpose + Profit. He's a Harvard Business professor and he taught, you can see from the name of that book, Purpose plus Profit. It takes this pragmatic view of why sustainability can help you run your business better, not just be a fringe idea that's detached from what the business is supposed to do. What are some of your favorite resources or tools that really help you in your work? I'll give one shout out. Brian Matt with the New York Stock Exchange puts out an email each Friday called the ESG Top five. It's the top five sustainability topics of the week. He commits that it's a two minute read. If you get interested, it's going to be more than a two minute read, but you can certainly get the headlines in two minutes. There's certain emails that I can't delete fast enough. That's one that I open every time and I always learn something out of it. Where can our listeners go to learn more about you and the work being done at Eli Lilly? Sustainability.lilly.com. My performance is tied to website hits, so all your listeners, please open it up first thing when you get in the morning and hit refresh many times during the day. You'll do me a solid on my performance. Then LinkedIn, I have a LinkedIn page as well that captures some of the stuff we're doing here.
Daniel Mahncke and Shawn O'Malley take a closer look at Estée Lauder's turbulent turnaround, tracing the beauty giant's fall from pandemic favorite to contrarian play. After years of strong growth, the company was hit by an inventory pileup, the collapse of China's daigou shopping channel, and a broader slowdown in its most important market. In this episode, they explore whether the “Beauty Reimagined” strategy and the arrival of new CEO Stéphane de La Faverie can reignite growth through cost savings, better channel mix, and stronger appeal to younger consumers. Daniel and Shawn debate how realistic a turnaround is, whether the risk/reward resembles Nike's recent playbook, and what needs to go right for Estée Lauder to reclaim its former strength. They also touch on wider beauty industry trends, the role of R&D as a competitive moat, internal tensions within the Lauder family, and the growing strategic weight of China for global fashion and cosmetics brands.
