We are delighted to welcome Sr. Rose Patrice, IHM, who is a member of the community of Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM) sisters based out of McAllen, TX, and working at migrant shelters on the border. Sr. Rose shares the story of how the IHM sisters recently started a community in the area, and she describes the work they do accompanying migrants. Reflecting on the Lenten theme of almsgiving, Sr. Rose talks about how generous people have been supporting their ministry, which they use for a variety of things, including buying shoes for migrants wearing flip flops before they board buses for the colder northern parts of the U.S. Brian and Joe also reflect on the Lenten theme of almsgiving. Joe shares the recent example of a group of students from Boston College High School who extended charity by buying lunch for migrants they met at Whataburger. Beyond that, Joe also shares other ways that he saw the students giving of themselves in their time spent on the border, from helping to translate for a nurse to playing soccer with kids. Brian shares a remarkable story of self-gift through a young woman who put her talents and experiences to use in an emergency situation. The story begins with someone at the U.S.-Mexico bridge asking a group of migrants if any of them have medical experience. When Katy, a nurse from Venezuela, raised her hand, she had no idea what she was going to encounter as she went running onto that bridge!

I wasn't sure if I'd publish this as a podcast episode considering I'm exploring the new territory of just collecting information from health care providers that can support my mission to help people navigate the stigma that comes with not only a herpes, but any STI diagnosis. As I learn more, I learn more. While I filter and curate this information from them to you, maybe you'll have my same experience and growth while I'm learning out loud here through these conversations. So I decided to get their consent to share these recordings that aren't quite podcast episodes, but conversations with providers on their challenges and perspectives as they treat patients. Dr. Lourdes here is the first interview in that series. I look forward to sharing with you here. Lourdes Mantecón-Garza obtained her medical degree in 1982, at the medical school of the Autonomous University of Nuevo León, in Monterrey, Mexico. She continued with specialty studies in Internal Medicine at the SSA Metropolitan Hospital in the same city in 1988. She completed a master's degree in business administration at the University of Texas (MBA, UT-PanAmerican) in 2005. She continue with studies on human sexuality at the Institute for Advanced Studies of Human Sexuality (IASHS) and at the Buehler Institute, both in California USA. Dr. Mantecón is a certified clinical sexologist by the American College of Sexologists International and is also a certified sexuality counselor by the American Association of Sexuality, Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT) also in the US. Dr. Mantecón -Garza has fellow studies in women's sexuality by the International Society for the Study of Women's Sexual Health (ISSWSH). She is a visiting professor for human sexuality readings at different educational institutions in Mexico (UANL) and the United States (UTRGV school of medicine and family residency). She has presented research papers at national congresses in Mexico and the United States and world ISSM (International Society for Sexual Medicine) 2018, WAS (World Association for Sexual health) 2019 and ISSSWSH 2020. In addition to her practice, Dr. Mantecón Garza decided to write reference books that could be available to the population without the difficulty of medical technicalities. His first work, “The diet and the diabetic”, was published by Editorial Trillas in 1996, the second is “Healthy Sexuality” in the process of printing with the same publisher. She is dedicated to work as sexuality counselor at her office in McAllen Texas, she also offers services through telemedicine in English and Spanish.

GUEST OVERVIEW: Leonardo Silva served as the Drug Enforcement Administration's Resident Agent in Charge in Monterrey Nuevo Leon, Mexico from May 2008 until his retirement in January of 2015. As the Resident Agent in Charge, Mr. Silva's duties entailed the oversight and coordination of complex investigations with Host Country counterparts of High Value Targets for apprehension and subsequent extradition to the United States. The Monterrey Resident Office's areas of responsibility included the states of Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, and San Luis Potosi. During his tenure as the Resident Agent in Charge, Mr. Silva led and supervised various Priority Target Organization investigations, targeting both the Zeta and Gulf Cartels. As a result of these and other investigations, DEA Monterrey documented asset seizures totaling $26,527,406 and over 793 arrests, including 50 plaza bosses and 8 major accountants for the Zeta organization. Prior to his assignment in Monterrey, Mr. Silva served as the Enforcement Group Supervisor for the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area group, in McAllen Texas, from May 2004, until his arrival in Monterrey. In that capacity, Mr. Silva oversaw a diverse group of seventeen Law Enforcement Officers, which included six (6) DEA Agents and eleven (11) State and Local Law Enforcement officers from surrounding communities. During his tenure as Group Supervisor of the HIDTA group, Mr. Silva oversaw investigations which led to the seizure of over 40,000 kilograms of marijuana, 500 kilograms of cocaine, $5 million in assets and approximately 196 arrests. Furthermore, under Mr. Silva's command, the McAllen DEA HIDTA Group initiated over 13 wire intercepts on significant Special operations, such as Operation Band of Brothers and Operation Puma. Five (5) of the wire intercepts conducted by the HIDTA group were conducted in conjunction with the Government of Mexico. Evidence obtained from the Government of Mexico wiretaps were used to prepare and initiate a United States wiretap, a first in the history of the Drug Enforcement Administration. Mr. Silva also served in the Guadalajara Resident Office from December of 2001 to May of 2004 where he led numerous investigations targeting organizations involved in methamphetamine production and the importation of precursor chemicals from China into Mexico. Mr. Silva also served as the lead investigator in the apprehension of international fugitive Otto Herrera Garcia in Mexico City. Mr. Silva began his career with DEA in February of 1987 as a member of Basic Agent Class 48 in Quantico Virginia. Upon graduation from Basic Agent Class 48, Mr. Silva was assigned to the McAllen District Office, where he performed numerous undercover assignments, prior to being assigned to the Guadalajara Resident office in 2001. Mr. Silva, a Texas native, graduated in December of 1985 from the University of Texas-Brownsville with a B.A. degree, in English and a minor in Psychology.

On his talk show called, M2-The Rock, he shares how he went from building homes to being homeless."When I had the homebuilding company my behaviors were getting worse and worse," Molthan told CBN News. "My consequences were getting worse and worse."Molthan was arrested on a drug charge in 2009. "I had a large amount of cocaine in my truck," he explained. "I was intoxicated, and I was arrested. And I'll never forget that when they took me down to the jail, I had my very first mug shot."Hitting Rock Bottom26 mug shots later, Molthan hit rock bottom. "When I look back, that's how the word powerless – I'm powerless over this deadly disease," he said. Feeling agitated, anxious, and facing three years behind bars, Molthan underwent a spiritual encounter after an inmate asked him to read to him. "I grab this book from a gang-banger, a black panther, and he used it as a pillow," he explained. "Brand new book and it was the Living Recovery Bible, New Living Translation. Now, these are black words on white paper at the time. They're not meaning anything to me. Next thing I know, four days have passed by and I started thinking about this and I go, four days just went by and I wasn't anxious. I wasn't in fear. I was calm, and I was at peace."Life-Changing MomentLater that night, he experienced another life-changing moment. "I couldn't breathe," he recounted. "All of a sudden I felt all this trash and hatred and anger and resentment and everything just coming out of my body like flies. All this stuff was just coming out. And I just took this breath and I just go something magical happened and I was full of love, and looking around I loved everybody." "I started preaching and I didn't realize what I was doing," he said. "And I did it at the end of every dinner."Paperwork Error Leads to Early ReleaseIn 2017, a paperwork error led to Molthan's accidental release. So, with no money or food, he walked 300 miles to ask judge Jennifer Bennett to send him back to jail. "I walk in there to turn myself in and I'm excited," says Molthan. "I'm like, 'I'm going to go back to prison. I'm going to do my time, get this over with and get this behind me.' I mean, complete acceptance. God is running the show, right?"He continued, "I walk in there and Judge Bennett says, 'Mr. Molthan there's obviously someone a lot bigger working in your life than me and I'm not going to get in the way.' And she set me free. And she said, 'I want you to come back tomorrow with the self-correct program.
