When Kamala Harris was asked on the Oprah Winfrey  infomercial whether she would secure the border if elected as president, she said two things. As California Attorney General, she prosecuted transnational groups for the trafficking of guns, drugs, and human beings. As Vice President, she advocated for the passage of the Biden Border Bill which would have placed 1,500 additional Border Patrol agents on the ground. She sounds like a Republican, as she moves center to appeal to law-and-order Americans.   But, as Jeremy Beck, Vice President of Initiatives for NumbersUSA.com, points out in his appearance with guest host Adam McManus, Kamala, the designated Border Czar, certainly hasn't lifted a finger for the last four years to stem the tide of transnational groups who have been trafficking copious amounts of guns, drugs, and human beings across our southern border. Secondly, the reason why common sense prevailed in regards to the defeat of Biden's sham of a border bill, is that it would have, for the first time, actually mandated a minimum number of 500,000 illegal aliens to be given admittance into America. Plus, the 1,500 additional Border Patrol agents would not have been tasked with preventing illegals from crossing our southern border, but with facilitating their illegal entrance across the border. It's Monday, September 30th, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus 150 Protestants return to Hidalgo State, Mexico after displacement On April 26th, Mexican Catholic village leaders in Hidalgo State cut the electricity, vandalized a Protestant church, and blocked access to homes of the Protestant minority, reports Christian Solidarity Worldwide. As a result, over 150 Protestant Christians, including 70 children and infants, were forcibly displaced. During their displacement, the group endured poor conditions, living in a municipal building and later a sports complex. They relied on local churches for food and river water for hygiene, leading to widespread illness and infections. Now, five months later, thanks to an agreement brokered by Hidalgo State Secretary Guillermo Reyna and Director of Religious Affairs Margarita Román, they have returned to their homes in Hidalgo State, Mexico. In 1 Corinthians 1:10, the Apostle Paul wrote, “I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.” Pray that the Evangelicals would forgive the Catholics and the Catholics would repent for their abuse of the Evangelicals. Hurricane Helene kills 89 people, causes $15 billion of damage On Saturday, Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis said Hurricane Helene's “monumental storm surge” caused far greater damage than last year's Hurricane Idalia, reports The Epoch Times. DeSANTIS: “We saw really a monumental storm surge. You saw storm surge in excess of 15 feet. So that is much, much more significant than what we've seen in recent storms like [Hurricane] Idalia that hit and certainly [Hurricane] Debby. “So, as you look around here, you see some homes that are now just rubble. There's a lot of damage. We flew over the entire coast, and I remember doing that after I Dahlia, and I remember seeing damage, and I walked the streets after I Dahlia in some of these areas, but this one, wow, you see some just complete obliteration for homes.” Damage estimates ranged from $15 billion to more than $100 billion, insurers and forecasters said over the weekend. Tragically, Reuters reports that 89 people have been killed in South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia. South Carolina recorded the highest death toll, reporting 25 fatalities, with falling trees contributing to many of them. South Carolina Republican Governor Henry McMaster spoke to reporters. McMASTER: “We, of course, have suffered a devastating storm. Tragically, we've lost, we believe, 25 people, 25 of our people due to this storm, and we don't want to lose any more. “Be careful of the electrical wires running under downed trees and limbs. Don't go out there if there's any chance that there's any sort of wire running under those that debris, because you can get shocked and die. The chainsaws cannot go in until the electricity is turned off by the power company.” According to a U.S. Energy Department official, roughly 2.7 million customers were without power on Sunday, down 40% from Friday after unprecedented storm surges, ferocious winds and perilous conditions that extended hundreds of miles inland. Samaritan's Purse, led by Franklin Graham, is on the ground helping in Jesus' name. Patients and staff of Tennessee hospital evacuated from roof More than 50 patients and staff were rescued from the roof of a Tennessee hospital after floodwaters inundated the building.  The Tennessee National Guard was part of the rescue effort Friday afternoon at Unicoi County Hospital in eastern Tennessee. The region was submerged in floodwaters from Hurricane Helene. Emergency crews had attempted to evacuate people by ambulance and boats, but the water began rising too quickly, as video revealed. They had no other choice but to seek shelter on the rooftop. Clay Ramsey tweeted four devastating pictures showing the flood waters had reached the half-way mark of the ambulances in the hospital parking lot. Faith & Freedom Coalition to raise $62M to mobilize Christian vote Faith and Freedom Coalition aims to raise over $60 million to mobilize the Christian vote ahead of the 2024 presidential election, with canvassers already reaching over 3 million potential voters in battleground states, reports The Christian Post.  Founded in 2009 by longtime Christian activist Ralph Reed to be a voice and mobilize the Evangelical vote, their goal is visiting 10 million homes in person by Election Day. The expected 10 million home visits marks a rise from the 8.6 million conducted in 2022 and the nearly 6 million in 2020.  The home visits have the potential to reach 17 to 18 million people, as some households have multiple voters living in them which could put Trump back in the White House. Faith and Freedom Coalition has hired 5,000 paid staffers and recruited 5,000 volunteers to conduct outreach in the battleground states.  Plus, the group will hand out “30 million pieces of literature across 125,000 churches, including many in the battleground states."  According to their website, “The key to the 2024 effort is turning out 1 million recently registered Evangelical voters, as well as 7.8 million Evangelicals whom Faith & Freedom Coalition has identified as low-propensity voters." 90-year-old Chuck Swindoll retires from pulpit ministry And finally, a milestone for Chuck Swindoll. He is known worldwide for his Insight for Living radio program heard on 2,100 stations, his leadership at Dallas Theological Seminary where he served as President and Chancellor, and his authorship of 70 books. After 26 years as Senior Pastor at Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco, Texas, he recently announced his retirement with his characteristic sense of humor. SWINDOLL: “We celebrate 26 years as a church toward the middle of next month, literally, on the 14th of October, 1998.  I mean 26 years, 90 years old. That's long enough.” He spoke with grace and humility. SWINDOLL: “Today, I'm filled with gratitude, joy and a deep sense of peace. These have been 26 of the greatest years of my life. You, as a congregation, have been nothing short of magnificent.” And Pastor Swindoll pointed out what he looks forward to in his retirement from preaching. SWINDOLL:  “God has made it clear to me that these five Sundays will be my final five Sundays as your pastor, your leader, your pulpit expositor. Cynthia and I will continue to be with you at church. This is our church, and always will be. We live only a few blocks away, and we have no plans to move. “The difference is, for the first time in over 60 years, she and I'll get to sit together in a worship service. She won't be sitting down there, and I'll be up here.” Even though Swindoll, age 90, will no longer be in the pulpit regularly, he will continue his ministry at Insight for Living, the headquarters of which is located on the same property. When he finally sees his Savior face to face, no doubt Chuck Swindoll will hear the words from Matthew 25:23, “Well done, good and faithful servant! … Enter into the joy of your Lord!” Close And that's The Worldview on this Monday, September 30th, in the year of our Lord 2024. Subscribe by Amazon Music or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. When Kamala Harris was asked on the Oprah Winfrey infomercial whether she would secure the border if elected as president, she said two things.-1. As California Attorney General, she prosecuted transnational groups for the trafficking of guns, drugs, and human beings.-2. As Vice President, she advocated for the passage of the Biden Border Bill which would have placed 1,500 additional Border Patrol agents on the ground.-She sounds like a Republican, as she moves center to appeal to law-and-order Americans.---But, as Jeremy Beck, Vice President of Initiatives for NumbersUSA.com, points out in his appearance with guest host Adam McManus, Kamala, the designated Border Czar, certainly hasn't lifted a finger for the last four years to stem the tide of transnational groups who have been trafficking copious amounts of guns, drugs, and human beings across our southern border.-Secondly, the reason why common sense prevailed in regards to the defeat of Biden's sham of a border bill, is that it would have, for the first time, actually mandated a minimum number of 500,000 illegal aliens to be given admittance into America. Plus, the 1,500 additional Border Patrol agents would not have been tasked with preventing illegals from crossing our southern border, but with facilitating their illegal entrance across the border.---This program includes---1. Introduction: Welcome to Five & Thrive: a weekly podcast highlighting the Southeast's most interesting news, entrepreneurs, and information of the week, all under 5 minutes.  My name is Jon Birdsong and I'm with Atlanta Ventures.  Product of the Week: This week's product of the week is called Proline a communication tool for contractors. This application does everything from sending sales follow ups, providing job updates, creating appointment reminders, to generating invoice nudges. AJ Briley and team have been in the space for over 2 years and evolved their product offerings to this must-have solution for any modern day contractor. There is no-credit card needed free trial then a monthly subscription charge afterwards. When looking at companies who have simple and quick ways to sign on to a free trial then convert those trials into paying customers, you know there is real demand in the market.  Question of the Week: This week's question of the week is around venture debt and how we view it at Atlanta Ventures. The macro economic environment has made this a bit more topical with interest rates increasing and burn multiples now having a larger magnifying glass on it than let's just say the last two years. The way we view venture debt is as a safety net and not part of the burn rate calculations. Focusing your burn rate around the number of months of cash on hand is the smart play and then viewing venture debt as a way to sleep better at night. Venture debt should be used only as a “break the glass in case of an emergency” scenario.    Get Them While You Can: Just this week I met with an all-star candidate in finance. This person has spent 7 years scaling a SaaS company and now the company is just too big. If you are listening to this podcast and looking for a Head of Finance or early stage CFO, email me today, jon dot birdsong at Atlanta Ventures as this person will be scooped up quickly.   Company Coming Up: This company coming up is already up and scaling so we may need a new title headline here but the company is out of Charlotte, NC and it's called DebtBook. They are in the accounting standards compliance space, and make debt and lease management easy. Over 1000 finance teams across the nation use DebtBook to manage debt and lease compliance and streamline reporting so the team is efficient and on the same page. Their customers range from municipalities to universities to non-profits which makes it a sticky solution in a large and wide market. Back in August they raised $7.5M led by Elephant Partners. Keep an eye for this company to be a major job provider and software stalwart in Charlotte.  Raise a Glass:  A few announcements on the fundraising side this past week. First, Jim Stallings of PS27 out of Jacksonville just led the $1.6M seed round of SoHookd which is one of the fastest-growing digital wellness marketplaces. Whether you're an individual consumer or an employer looking to amp up your wellness offerings, SoHookd, led by their CEO B.J. Wiley Williams is making it simple to add the right products to you or company's lifestyle right now. Congrats to Jim and the PS27 team for leading the round.  Another major announcement this week out of Atlanta comes from MessageGears. Talk about a company that has put their nose to the grindstone for years and built a complete and persistent product for a decade – I can remember 11 years ago when they were in the corner office of the ATDC, walking in and seeing the focus and dedication of the team. Well, this week they announced their raise of $62M led by Long Ridge Equity Partners which included participation from Atlanta Ventures as well. MessageGears led by Roger Barnette is used by customers including Expedia, OpenTable, T-Mobile and more to leverage zero- and first-party data to engage with their customers in highly personalized ways across email and SMS. What makes MessageGears unique is how they directly access their customers' data repositories versus relying on the cloud making it faster, more secure, and have greater flexibility. And when we start talking about companies that have direct access to company specific data and workflows, we know that leads to a very sticky product. Well done to Roger and team. We look forward to seeing what you do with that $62M!    Annnnd, that's 5 minutes. Thank you for listening to Five and Thrive. We provide 5 minutes of quality information, so you can thrive in the upcoming week. Please subscribe to the show and spread the good word!

Joining us is the entire On The Market panel to talk about which up-to-date, hard-hitting stories affect investors the most.To start, we'll talk about Invitation Homes, one of the most prominent institutional real estate companies, and how they're being accused of using unpermitted work to renovate their recent acquisitions. Within the same vein, Opendoor, another institutional investor, was fined a whopping $62M for “deceptive marketing”, but did they really make promises they couldn't keep? Don't worry, this isn't an entirely iBuyer-only episode. Our last two stories cover commercial real estate and interest rates. 9 THINGS CLIENTS EXPECT FROM THEIR REAL ESTATE AGENT The nation's largest homebuilder says more buyers are cancelling deals amid growing real-estate market pessimism Massachusetts legislation proposed A statewide optional transfer fee of up to 2% on high-end real estate sales would provide a local tool allowing any community that has a problem and chooses to participate to determine the kind of housing relief they want and need. On $1 Billion annual sales, that's 20 million - given cost to construct each unit to be $200,000, then about 100 units could be built...that's a drop in the Nantuckett bucket! What the Fed's July rate hike means for homebuyers and sellers - The Federal Reserve does not set mortgage rates, and the central bank's decisions don't move mortgages as directly as they do other products, such as savings accounts and CD rates. Instead, mortgage rates tend to move in lockstep with 10-year Treasury yields. But the Fed does set the overall tone for mortgage rates. Mortgage lenders and investors closely watch the central bank, and the mortgage market's attempts to interpret the Fed's actions affect how much you pay for your home loan. Foreign buyers remain absent from U.S. housing market US homebuyers are backing out of deals at the highest rate since the start of the pandemic Foreclosure filings are up more than 150%. Here's what that tells us about the housing market - much of the overall foreclosure activity we're seeing right now is on loans that were either already in foreclosure or were more than 120 days delinquent prior to the pandemic, Real estate company operating in Raleigh fined $62M for ‘cheating', ‘misleading' Opendoor has now agreed to the following: Pay $62 million back to customers Stop deceiving potential home sellers Stop making baseless claims and instead use competent and reliable evidence to support any representations made about the costs, savings, or financial benefits

Today, we have a powerhouse episode for you! Our guest is Logan Freeman, a real estate investor and podcaster, who shows how to compress 3 years of business growth into just 1 year. In our conversation, we talk about creating systems and strategies to reach success faster, having personal accountability, and how to be more productive by working less. If you want to grow your business and grow as an entrepreneur, then this episode is for you! Learn more about Logan and his journey at reiclarity.com! “Saying no to so much other stuff has given me the permission to say yes to what actually matters.”   03:37 Logan is a real estate investor and entrepreneur. He started a podcast this year, called the Compression podcast, where you can follow him as he compresses 3 years of business growth into just 1 year. He wants to scale fast by implementing systems and strategies and avoiding 80-hour work weeks.   Logan's company already acquired $62M of real estate in just 7 months. He shares what he learned about scaling fast and what you can do to achieve similar results. Be accountable. Talk about your goals publically, tell it to your community, or start a podcast. Focus. Where focus goes, the energy goes, so choose wisely what you focus on. Manage your time. The amount of time you allot to a task is the amount of time it's going to take, so plan out your days  Focus on the “vital few”. Roughly 80% of consequences come from 20% of causes, so focus on this 20%. Get in the flow. Find activities that put you in a flow state and organize your day around them. “Being busy is not being productive. Being efficient is not being effective.”   17:08 Logan talks about the best profit-producing actions you can implement in your strategies. Set boundaries. Take time out for yourself and make sure that you don't try to do everything by yourself in your business. Attach $1 amount to your time and focus on the most valuable tasks. Determine what you can delegate, automate, or eliminate from your schedule.   Logan puts different systems in place. He uses physical journals to write down his ideas and he implements a project management software, Monday, to help his team stay on track. “If you want to achieve a big goal, you have to get your mind right first, because you cannot give what you do not have.”   32:29 Personal accountability is very important for Logan. According to him, we're faced with choices all the time and we have to make the right decisions. This means choosing reading over watching a movie or exercising over laying on the couch. These decisions compound over time.     Creating new habits takes time. To help your journey, surround yourself with like-minded people and find good coaches. Personal accountability, forming strong habits, and keeping good company are foundational to success.  Mentioned in the show: https://ftwinvestmentsllc.com/ Tim Ferriss - The 4-Hour Workweek Mihály Csíkszentmihályi - Flow Gino Wickman - Traction Dr. Henry Cloud - Boundaries Perry Marshall  - Detox, Declutter, Dominate Tony Robbins - Awaken the Giant Within His LinkedIn www.shineinsurance.com/reiclarity The REI Clarity Framework Learn how to grow your portfolio and reach incredible success the right way! Today, we have our first LatAm guest on the AGM podcast. And it was a special one.Bitso, LatAm's leading crypto exchange, is fresh off of raising a $250M round led by Tiger Global months after raising a $62M round led by QED and Kaszek - and has been minted as one of LatAm's newest unicorns. We had Bitso's co-founder and CEO Daniel Vogel on to talk about what it has been like to build a leading FinTech company in the region and provide access to investments and financial services. This was such a fun conversation. We could have gone on for hours. Daniel is such a compelling and fascinating storyteller. We discussed a number of things including: How Daniel has dedicated his life to unlocking monetary freedom for people through crypto. How a talk with his friend, a janitor at his company in Silicon Valley, opened his eyes to the need for real applications of crypto to help people send money cross-border. The origins of Bitso and how Bitso was a pioneer of an online brokerage account in Mexico. How Bitso has become the on-ramp for financial services for many consumers across LatAm. The meaning behind Bitso's slogan #makecryptouseful. The power of stablecoins and how it's enabling people in countries with inflation and currency fluctuations to save money. How Bitso balances being a centralized company in a decentralized world. How religion and community play a unique role in crypto. Daniel is an early crypto pioneer and a thought leader in the space. He became intrigued by the idea of bitcoin well before many other people had heard of it and really thought of crypto as a way to unlock monetary freedom and access to financial services for the underserved. After founding the Bitcoin Club at Harvard in 2013 while he was doing his MBA, Daniel founded Bitso with co-founders Pablo Gonzalez and Ben Peters soon after he left Harvard Square. In Bitso, Daniel and his co-founders Pablo and Ben have created the on-ramp for financial services to many consumers in Mexico and across LatAm.As Daniel said in a recent TechCrunch interview, the growth of the crypto ecosystem in LatAm has been nothing short of remarkable. It took Bitso six years to get their first 1 million clients. And over the course of 2020, Bitso has surpassed the 2 million client mark. They have also doubled their assets on the platform. And their transaction volume during the first quarter of 2021 exceeded transaction volume for all of 2020.It is clear that Daniel has a passion for building out the cryptoeconomy and for making a difference in people's lives, so much so that Bitso has made their tagline #makecryptouseful. Thanks Daniel for coming on the AGM podcast. We hope you enjoy this episode.

A large percent of publicly traded companies are losing money right now, even in a decade-long strong economy. But we’re moving into a feast / famine cycle of employment and what you know can help you. The general trend now is that big companies are reducing headcount by attrition. They’re not filling open positions. Meanwhile the smaller local and regional companies not involved in international trading – are generally doing well and bidding for workers. Topeka Kansas is offering incentives of up to $15 to get people to move there for work. The WSJ reports companies are offering relocation bonuses to attract new workers – a perk common 15 years ago now returning. Focus on opportunity to find real advantage in the marketplace. We creatures of habit need to look out the window. Because of rotation in the corporate environment, this is a time of big wage disparity. Your skills may be worth more to another company than you’re getting now. Take advantage of education and training, so important to finding the best opportunities. If you feel dead ended, explore further training. Boeing's CEO was fired for undermining a culture of safety that ultimately caused two crashes and cost hundreds of lives. He’s getting severance between $62M and $82M for failing. Newly released memos further expose a chaotic culture of eroding safety standards. Internally, many knew the plane was unsafe and some laughed at being able to con the FAA in approving the Max. Failure is rewarded handsomely in the executive suites of big publicly traded corporate America. Hundreds died due to gross negligence by Boeing and the CEO is scoring millions. Why is no one being charged criminally – with manslaughter at least – in this circumstance? Disputes between local network affiliates and operators about carry provisions and payment are ongoing. It’s a great idea to have an antenna for local channels. If you get a good signal, it may be all you need for NO monthly fee. If you stream content, having an antenna is great as well. AntennaWeb - Antenna Signal Prediction – Antenna Web has updated their site and revised their search tool for local channels and antenna recommendations based on address including topography. If you live in a high-rise facing broadcast towers, any antenna may due. Other residents may need heftier attic antennas, or easy TV boxes. Locast is a non-profit for streaming local channels. Verizon and the cable monsters have all pushed packages. “Do I really have to sell that flour mill?” A bread researching NFP went through a restructure. Its subsidiaries held IP and physical assets the plaintffs alleged were held by way of chartiable trust. The assets included a significant landholding (~$62M) which had a “pilot mill” on it; for flour experimentation. The plaintiffs claimed the assets were held on charitable trust. A receiver was appointed in respect of the assets and granted leave to approach the Court for guidance. Those overarching charitable trust proceedings settled: [15]. But the Receiver approached the Court to seek confirmation it would be justified in not selling the property. It’s a tricky issue. The property might be worth up to $62M, with the potential for that value to fall. Also – if sold – the pilot mill may be demolished (against the spirit of the charitable trust): [19], [20] and [21]. The Court considered the dominant consideration was the preservation of the pilot mill: [23]; especially as the pilot mill charitable trust would likely be upheld, meaning – if destroyed – the pilot mill would have to be rebuilt. The Court gave a direction that the Receiver would be justified in not selling: [24].

Welcome to Episode 59 of The VentureFizz Podcast, the flagship podcast of your most-trusted source for startup and tech jobs, news, and insights! For this episode of our podcast, I interviewed Steve Kokinos, CEO of Algorand. Steve is the definition of a serial entrepreneur, and one who has seen tremendous success. His company-building roots go back to when he was in college where he launched a company called WebYes, which was acquired. He was then a Co-Founder of BladeLogic, a company that went public and was later acquired by BMC for $800M. The next company he co-founded was Fuze, one of the anchor tech companies in the Boston tech scene that disrupted the way companies communicate by removing those clunky old PBX systems to a cloud-based offering for enterprises. Algorand is another highly disruptive company, as they have built a first-of-its-kind blockchain and cryptocurrency that is built specifically for business. The company recently announced a $62M round of funding, along with the appointment of Steve as their CEO, plus the addition of Sean Ford as its COO. You might recognize Sean's name, as he is the former CMO of LogMeIn and was a guest on our podcast back in March. In this episode of our podcast, we cover: -How he built his first company and got traction with major customers while still in college. -The story behind BladeLogic, and what it was like scaling to the point of going public. -The aha moment behind Fuze, and why challenging market conditions ended up working to their advantage. -All the details behind Algorand and what excites him about the company's technology and how they are bringing cryptocurrency and the blockchain to the enterprise. -Advice for entrepreneurs on figuring out sales and pricing. -How to manage your company's culture and keeping the bar for talent high through hypergrowth mode. -Plus, a lot more. Today's episode is sponsored by Pluralsight. It is amazing what machine learning can do. With mounds of data being harvested every day, there's so much we can learn and create. Pluralsight, the technology learning platform, is using this data for the good of tech professionals everywhere. Their AI helps you see what level your tech skills are at and recommends opportunities to keep learning. Pretty cool, right? And they're looking for help to make their algorithms even smarter. Why would a company buy Docker? With “near triple digit revenue,” perhaps there’s a good business model to match the interest in free, but, in turn, why would an acquirer want to pay for free? Director of Postal Affairs, Bob Schimek elaborates on the latest developments with the United States Postal Service: USPS Reports 2Q Results:          Controllable Income was pretty much break even at a positive $12M o   A dramatic drop from SPLY which was $576M          USPS noted that primary difference was the removal of the exigent surcharge that would have added $500M o   Reminder: Exigent surcharge rolled off in April of 2016, so we are near the end of comparing apples to oranges          Operating Expenses increased $69M over SPLY          Year to date, the USPS has a net income of $967M (compared to a 1.6B loss in 2016)          Letter Mail Volume declined by 1.4B pieces (3.8% drop)          Packages continue to be the bright spot, volume grew by 137M up 11% and Revenue up by 12.7%   USPS Irresistible Mail Award:          Q4 Winner is another car company.  o   Q1 winner was Toyota o   Q2 winner was Lincoln          Q4 winner is Porsche o   “It Takes Something Amazing” campaign o   It used both a hologram and print to introduce the new Porsche 911 o   It included a plastic prism that could display a holographic video when placed on a tablet or smartphone o   Along with a full-color glossy brochure on features of the new model          2017 Irresistible Mail Grand Champion will be selected at the National Postal Forum on May 23rd.   PRC being Pushed by USPS to Decide on New Service Measurement Plan          History (Fox minding Hen House)          PRC has ruled that both systems must be run in parallel for an undetermined amount of time.          USPS is requesting PRC Decision by June 1st          The USPS request is an effort to avert unnecessary expense and duplication of effort.          “Assuming Approval”, it would allow the USPS to cancel its current independent contract (EXFC) for FY2018   OIG looks at USPS Fuel Consumption and Risk:            USPS has 7,600 mail transport vehicles and 16,000 supplier-operated highway contract routes          This make the USPS one of the largest users of diesel fuel in the US.          FY2106 the USPS purchased 251M gallons spending more than $570M o   Doing the math, that is $2.27 per gallon. o   A change of as little of 25 cents a gallon can have over a $62M impact.          OIG found the USPS is not positioned to mitigate the risk of increasing fuel costs          Looking at 2013 to 2016 mail volume declined by 4.3B pieces, yet HCR miles increased by 183M          While diesel costs declined over this same time period, the large increase in HCR miles is a major financial exposure if prices go up.          US Department of energy is predicting diesel fuel costs to increase $.74 per gallon over the next five years ($186M increase)          OIG is recommending the USPS incent conversion to alternative fuel options and improve negotiations to get the lowest cost per gallon
