Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it's the second day of prospect interviews at the 2026 NFL Combine, which continued on Thursday morning with safeties and cornerbacks. The Pittsburgh Steelers definitely need so help in the secondary, with just Jalen Ramsey, Joey Porter Jr. and DeShon Elliott under contract as starters right now. Furthermore, they don't even seem sure where Ramsey will play after he dressed at outside cornerback, slot and free safety last season. So what should Omar Khan be looking for in the draft? Alan breaks it down. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Alan Saunders and Zachary Smith discuss all things Pittsburgh Steelers. On today's episode, we discuss the latest NFLPA report cards that leaked. The Steelers were dead last in terms of overall grade. We dive into what does and doesn't matter from this report card and the impact it truly has. We then answer questions on Omar Khan's philosophy as opposed to Kevin Colbert's in terms of the NFL Draft and decide between three bleak options for the team's offense posed by a viewer. Let's go for another Steelers Afternoon Drive and discuss all this! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

February 25, 2026 - Season 16, Episode 98 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday morning show, Alex Kozora and I get right into discussing the several things that Pittsburgh Steelers GM Omar Khan had to say on Tuesday during his multiple press conferences and interviews that took place at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine. Khan talked about the latest timeline and status of free agent QB Aaron Rodgers on Tuesday in addition to mentioning how excited the team is to continue working with QB Will Howard this offseason. We wrap up everything that Khan had to say about the quarterback position for 2026 and beyond to get this episode started. Khan made it relatively clear that veteran DB Jalen Ramsey will likely remain with the Steelers in 2026, so Alex and I discuss his Tuesday comments related to that topic. We also address what Khan had to say about the injury rehab of T Broderick Jones and the possibility that he might be ready for the start of training camp. Khan talked a little about several current Steelers players on Tuesday so we run through what he had to say about WR Roman Wilson, RB Kaleb Johnson, TE Darnell Washington, TE Pat Freiermuth, ILB Patrick Queen, G Spencer Anderson, T Dylan Cook, CB James Pierre, CB Asante Samuel Jr., RB Kenneth Gainwell, S DeShon Elliott, OLB Nick Herbig, and several others. K Chris Boswell certainly could be a player the Steelers choose to sign to contract extension this offseason, so Alex and I discuss his market value on the heels of Dallas Cowboys K Brandon Aubrey also looking to rest the kicker market this offseason. Alex and I go over the latest free agent market value reports of Green Bay Packers QB Malik Willis in addition to what it might now take in trade compensation to acquire San Francisco 49ers QB Mac Jones. The Minnesota Vikings are reportedly looking to entertain trade offers for DT Javon Hargrave, according to a Tuesday report, so Alex and I go over that topic briefly and the chances of his returning to the Steelers this offseason. The Baltimore Ravens are now claiming a victory over the Steelers in 2025, so we go over that topic briefly in this show. Alex and I wrap up this show talking about known combine interviews the Steelers have had so far with players as of Tuesday morning. This 95-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the above recap. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Live from the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis where Steelers GM Omar Khan and Rich discuss Mike Tomlin parting ways with the team after 19 years in Pittsburgh, how he landed on hiring former Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy, the team's plan for Aaron Rodgers next season, what he's looking for at the Combine, and what message he has for die-hard fans in the Steel City. Titans HC Robert Saleh tells Rich what attracted him to the Tennessee job, what he learned from his first head coaching gig with the New York Jets, the expectations for 2nd-year QB Cam Ward under new OC Brian Daboll, and more. Lions GM Brad Holmes tells Rich why he went against the grain by drafting RB Jahmyr Gibbs 12th overall in the 2023 NFL Draft, how last season's key injuries could impact Detroit's 2026 NFL Draft approach, discusses head coach Dan Campbell's penchant for going for hit on 4th down, reveals what message he has for critics who say the team's Super Bowl window is closed, and the moment he knew future Hall of Fame DT Aaron Donald was special. On the Tuesday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by FanDuel, host Noah Hiles welcomes Post-Gazette Steelers insider Brian Batko to react to GM Omar Khan's comments at the NFL combine. What should we make of Khan saying he has "no deadline" for QB Aaron Rodgers to return? How important is it for the team to get him signed quickly after Khan indicated he expects a decision from Rodgers sooner than it came in 2025? What are the implications of Rodgers' potential return to a QB room that also includes Mason Rudolph and Will Howard at present? And what impact will Rodgers have on other offseason decisions? Our duo tackles those questions, then weighs potential trade options. Will Khan look to repeat his 2025 blockbuster moves for DK Metcalf, Jalen Ramsey and Jonnu Smith? Or will this be a quieter spring? Would the Eagles' A.J. Brown be a good fit as a player known to be in the mix to move? Or would the Steelers be better off investing in a younger player in the NFL draft like Jordyn Tyson, Denzel Boston, Makai Lemon or Carnell Tate? And which players will other teams be asking Khan about? Does T.J. Watt top the list? And could others including Ramsey and Patrick Queen merit consideration as well? Our duo tackles those questions and more. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.

Khan's Quotes – What else did Omar Khan say to the media earlier today? Former MLB pitcher Matt Clement joined the show. Matt said things have officially gotten interesting with how the Pirates will handle Konnor Griffin after 2 long home runs today against MLB caliber pitching. Ranger Suarez, one of the best LHP in baseball, allowed the first one, and Matt assured the guys he wasn't just ‘grooving' the pitches in there. How difficult is this situation going to be for the Pirates? Matt has noted before that he's a card collector, so he said he hopes everyone got their Griffin cards already. Could the Pirates have the next Mike Trout on their hands? Matt said he can't argue with the Pirates if they decide to send Griffin down for some final fine tuning before the season.
Poni is nervous. He once had a lot of hope for Will Howard, but he can't believe the amount of hype surrounding a 6th round pick by the team itself. Is this what happens with Mike Tomlin gone? A random conversation about kielbasa for breakfast turned the tide of the segment. Calls on Will Howard and kielbasa for breakfast. The answer we got today from Omar Khan about Broderick Jones has us worried about his football future. Is there any faith in Dylan Cook?
Omar Khan spoke to the media today as the NFL Combine is underway in Indianapolis. The biggest takeaway is what he said about quarterback and Mike McCarthy. Do we think Khan wants Aaron Rodgers back the same way the coach wants? The guys believe Khan actually wants Will Howard to start and push to the future, but the coach and owner could be holding that back. Poni has his doubts we find many people that will be calling in defense of the older QB.

Would any other team, besides the Steelers, consider him? Sports Court w/ our friends from Edgar Snyder & Associates. With Konnor Griffin mashing the baseball today, the guys asked if any prospect in baseball could make a legal push to be on a big-league roster earlier than they should? After Sidney Crosby was hurt in the Olympics, what legal standing is there when it comes to pro players taking part in international competition? Rob told us baseball and hockey are different, and that each player in MLB has to have insurance policies in-place before they play in something like the World Baseball Classic. He added that players that don't get insured could lose everything if they get injured.
Steelers Nation — this just happened. HOT OFF THE PRESS, Omar Khan met with the Steelers media and gave fresh updates on the quarterback situation, draft approach, cap flexibility, and potential extensions. Where do things really stand with Aaron Rodgers? Is Will Howard truly in the mix? Are the Steelers drafting a QB early — or not at all? Omar made it clear there are no imminent cap casualties. The team feels good about its financial flexibility. He addressed the offensive line outlook, discussed draft capital (12 picks that could grow to 14), and gave insight into how they're evaluating skill positions. There were also key hints about Joey Porter Jr.'s extension timeline and how the team views the defensive secondary heading into the season. Nothing dramatic. But very telling. On the Monday edition of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by FanDuel and Edgar Snyder & Associates, Post-Gazette Steelers insiders Christopher Carter and Ray Fittipaldo preview the week for the Steelers at the NFL combine in Indianapolis. What are the biggest questions facing GM Omar Khan amid the coaching staff transition from Mike Tomlin to Mike McCarthy? How does the new staff -- which includes OC Brian Angelichio and DC Patrick Graham -- feel about expensive veterans on the roster including Jalen Ramsey, Jonnu Smith and Patrick Queen? Could the team move on from any or all of them this offseason? Could and edge rusher like T.J. Watt, Nick Herbig, Alex Highsmith or Jack Sawyer be on the trade block? And how are things progressing on the QB front, where Aaron Rodgers' future is uncertain and the free agent and trade candidates are lacking beyond names like Malik Willis? Our duo tackles those topics, then details the top prospects to watch from a Steelers perspective at the combine, including Caleb Downs, Jordyn Tyson, Denzel Boston, Makai Lemon, Carnell Tate, Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, Dillon Thieneman and more. Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it's the idea, put forth by NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah on Thursday, that general manager Omar Khan could trade back in the 2026 NFL Draft. With 12 picks already, that sounds crazy on the surface, but what if, instead of acquiring 2026 draft capital in exchange for moving back, Khan targeted 2027 picks in an effort to rebuild his war chest for a future quarterback trade up? That might make some sense. Alan breaks it down. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Last season we saw the Pittsburgh Steelers, and more importantly General Manager Omar Khan, laid out a unique, and new, plan which worked to perfection. That plan saw them accrue extra draft picks and have a lot of salary cap space at their disposal. But will it be the same plan this offseason? Or will Khan shift the goal posts? That's the topic of conversation on the Wednesday "Let's Ride" podcast with host Jeff Hartman. This podcast is a part of the Steel Curtain Network, a proud member of the Fans First Sports Network. Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it's where the team's plans for the 2025 season fell short. General manager Omar Khan again left the team wanting at the wide receiver position, which turned into a near-disaster and has left the cupboard extremely bare entering 2026, while their long-term desire to land a quarterback in the 2026 NFL Draft might have handcuffed them from acquiring a wide receiver -- only for that plan to largely fail, anyway. Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it's if the team will change its free agency approach under new head coach Mike McCarthy. General manager Omar Khan has been more aggressive than his predecessor has been in free agency. Has that been reflective of a shift in team priorities, and will it continue with a new head coach? Also, how hard is it to make impactful moves in free agency? Alan breaks it down. Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it's the seven players in the team's 2023 NFL Draft class, all of which are entering the final season of their rookie contracts. General manager Omar Khan must make a decision on the fifth-year option of first-round pick Broderick Jones, while the decisions on Joey Porter Jr., Keeanu Benton, Darnell Washington, Nick Herbig, Cory Trice and Spencer Anderson may have to wait until later this offseason. Today, it's how the team's needs align with both the free agent class of 2026 and the 2026 NFL Draft, and which positions Omar Khan, Mike McCarthy and company should hope to have locked up before the NFL descends on Pittsburgh this April, and which ones would be better served by waiting for the draft. Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it's the outlook for the 2026 season for the team, where they will have a new coaching staff, but there does not appear to be a much better option than a return from Aaron Rodgers available at quarterback. If Mike McCarthy and Omar Khan decide to run it back with the veteran signal caller, what else can the Black and Gold accomplish in 2026? It's easy to look at what they accomplished in 2025 as a blueprint, when a half-dozen slots on the roster got locked down by younger players. Alan breaks it down. Learn more about your ad choices. The majority of the coaching staff hires have been made, now it's time for the process. Yinz may ask, what's the process? That would be, between now and kickoff 2026 the Steelers must use every tool in the bag to put the best roster on the field. The coaching staff may establish an identity, mentality, play style and begin installing those strategic principles identified.
