Sermons from New Horizon Baptist Church in Louisville, KY
At the beginning of each year, we enter a period of reflection oftentimes in an effort to determine where we are heading in our lives and to search for answers regarding our purpose for living. I believe that the question is not what I am doing that needs to be addressed but who I am becoming. It's not about what I've done but who am I. So to better understand this we need to go to the beginning.

Sometimes we find ourselves living in the "in-between" times and it can appear there is no way home. It is often in those times that God is growing us.

As a natural consequence of the grace and mercy shown to us believers ought to be defined by the kindness they show to others.
Using the Starz Tv Show Power: Raising Kanan, our series Power: Raised in Canaan, looks at how the people of God in pursuit of power sacrificed their relationship with God in order to have the "power" the surrounding people's had. After that whole generation had been gathered to their ancestors, another generation grew up who knew neither the Lord nor what he had done for Israel. (Judges 2:10)

What is disturbingly clear is that whatever normal was prior to March 2020 may never be normal again. This is a New Normal. So over the next few weeks, we are going to look at what this new normal requires of us and how we can find the necessary spirit and strength to adapt and discover a new rhythm of living in this new normal.

In this series, "A New Normal," we are exploring the reality that our world may never return to "Normal" again. With the being said, we must listen to God's voice and guidance so that He may guide us in how to discover a new rhythm in this new world.

Guidance from God is because you're in Accordance with God because of your Dependance on God which comes by Abidance in God. And those are our topics for the series Guidance from God, Accordance with God, Dependance on God and Abidance in God and if you see each of those words have the same suffix or ending...dance. Dancing with God.

A five-week series to help lift you out of the “winter blues” when your life feels stuck. Once this season of cleaning is done the key to the next season of cleaning to be less taxing depends on developing the new habits of cleaning daily.
A five-week series to help lift you out of the “winter blues” when your life feels stuck. A “proper” cleaning requires the right tools, cleaning products and supplies. What you choose to use to clean your home (life) matters and you should be careful of the “solutions” you apply.
A five-week series to help lift you out of the “winter blues” when your life feels stuck. Cleaning is a team event. It requires the help of everyone and to try and tackle it solo is a mistake. You can accomplish more with help and there additional rewards that come along as you work alongside one another. Fellowship.
A five-week series to help lift you out of the “winter blues” when your life feels stuck. You must make sure everything is in its rightful place but also get rid of the things in your home (life) that are taking up space and make room for what's most important.
A five-week series to help lift you out of the “winter blues” when your life feels stuck. A thorough cleaning requires us to approach every room in our home (life) and discover our greatest needs. The reality is that every room requires some attention but there are some that are in desperate need of help. We all have “rooms” in our lives that have been neglected and we can't clean up our lives until those rooms get the attention they need. What are the areas of your life, you either refuse to deal with or don't want to give over?
Message by newly ordained Elder Janice Couch.
It is my belief that we have filtered Jesus. A filter is used to transform an image to make it brighter, smoother, to modify so that it is more appealing to those viewing it. I believe that we have used a theological and cultural filter to transform our image of Jesus, to make him smoother, easier to manage, more palatable for our lives. Jesus doesn't need a filter. Not only does Jesus not need a filter but the world needs an unfiltered Jesus. It is my belief that if could only begin to see Jesus for who He really is then we would understand that He is more than enough. It is because we have filtered Jesus that when we look at our lives and this world we think that Jesus can; save our souls but can't heal our communities.

We obsess over discovering and being the will of God. Over making the right decisions, is this person the one, is this the right job, how do I know what I should do. Many people, perhaps someone listening today have found themselves paralyzed because you don't want to make the wrong decision. We want success, we want prosperity, we want the right mate, we want our children to do well and be taken care of and there is nothing wrong with any of that. Here's the issue however, we feel like our entire life's destiny lies in every decision we make. Or, that we if we make the wrong decision, we will fall out of God's will. The larger issue is that we misinterpret what the Will of God is.
