In this milestone episode of ThimbleberryU, we celebrate 150 episodes and the 10-year anniversary of Thimbleberry Financial. Amy Walls reflects on a decade of advising clients and the timeless lessons she's learned—lessons that go beyond finance and into life, meaning, and the value of simplicity. We open by anchoring the episode in Thimbleberry's core values, especially simplicity. Amy stresses how the best financial plans aren't flashy—they're clear, flexible, and focused on what truly matters. We dive into the first cluster of lessons about money and planning, starting with the idea that clarity beats complexity every time. Fancy strategies may look appealing, but real success comes from plans that are understandable and actionable. A flexible plan, one that can adapt to life's inevitable changes, always outperforms a rigid one.We continue by looking at how emotions play into financial decision-making. Amy explains that emotions aren't distractions—they're data. Recognizing fear, guilt, or excitement can lead to more empathetic and accurate planning. We don't need to know everything to make progress; staying curious and asking the right questions is often enough. That curiosity can help us avoid the traps of both overconfidence and paralysis. As we shift toward life-focused lessons, Amy reminds us that success looks different for everyone—and that's the point. Whether it's retiring early or spending more time with family, the plan has to fit the person. Life moves faster than spreadsheets, and that's why regular check-ins and flexibility are essential.Amy emphasizes that the best financial plans make room for joy. Planning isn't about restriction—it's about creating space for what we love, whether that's rest, giving, or travel. Simplicity, while hard, is always worth it. And finally, a good plan isn't static—it grows with us. It's not about being perfect; it's about evolving alongside life's changes and building confidence as we go.As we wrap up, we focus on three key takeaways for the new year: clarity, consistency, and curiosity. It's not about predicting the future—it's about being prepared for it. And that preparation, rooted in simple, flexible planning, is what makes long-term success possible.00:00 – Intro & Episode 150 Milestone00:23 – 10 Years of Thimbleberry Financial01:08 – Simplicity as a Core Value02:15 – Lesson 1: Clarity Beats Complexity03:23 – Lesson 2: Flexibility Over Perfection03:49 – Lesson 3: Markets Don't Care—Your Plan Should04:33 – Lesson 4: Emotions Are Data06:39 – Lesson 5: Stay Curious07:22 – Lesson 6: Success Looks Different for Everyone08:15 – Lesson 7: Life Moves Faster Than Spreadsheets09:01 – Lesson 8: Make Room for Joy09:31 – Lesson 9: Simple Isn't Easy09:57 – Lesson 10: A Plan That Grows With You10:41 – Final Takeaways for the New Year11:53 – Contact Info & Closing To get in touch with Amy and her team at Thimbleberry Financial, call 503-610-6510 or visit thimbleberryfinancial.com.

Make Room: An Introduction 1/4/26 by Reagan Sommers
At the heart of Christmas is a confronting truth: there was no room for Jesus. From Nazareth to Bethlehem, a long and costly journey ends with closed doors—not because He was unwanted, but because everything else had already taken the space. This message from Luke 2 reminds us that it's possible to be full of good things and still miss the greatest thing. Busyness, responsibility, pressure, and distraction can quietly crowd out the presence of Jesus. This Christmas, we're invited to pause and ask: what's filling the rooms of our hearts? When we intentionally make room for Him, ordinary moments become holy ground—where heaven meets earth and His presence changes everything.

People of His Presence — Pastor Jason Burns When we make room for God's presence, we move past secondhand faith and find a real, personal relationship with Him. In this first message of 2026, Pastor Jason reminds us that hearing God's voice isn't about ability but desire—and that faith grows when we slow down, engage His Word, and listen with humility.
Everyday, human beings find new things to be worried about! Whether it be finances, relationships, or even the future, we have a constant internal battle for control of timelines and outcomes. Matthew would remind us in chapter 6 that God has promised provision for every need to believers who simply surrender control and seek the kingdom of God first!

A new episode of the I AM HER Podcast is out—and it hits deep. How can God pour into our lives if there's no room to receive? In this powerful conversation, Pastor Lisa and Bekah walk through what it truly means to make room by decluttering not just our physical spaces, but also our mental load, spiritual distractions, and overcrowded calendars. This episode is for the woman who feels stretched thin, overwhelmed, or ready for a fresh start. Together, they unpack fasting, accountability, planning, and intentional living, challenging listeners to release what no longer serves them so God can bring new growth and new blessings. If you're stepping into this new year expecting transformation, it begins with letting go. Their prayer is that every listener enters the new year lighter, focused, convicted, and inspired—fully aligned and ready to receive everything God has prepared. Pastor Lisa says that she is Chinese and she likes to keep everything. But often she has to tell herself to make room for her new items. 02:11 Pastor Mike turned the garage into a gym and a car no longer fits in there. In life we have to make more room. We add things like a husband, a dog, a car, a child. How many mugs do you really need? 03:33 You have to let go of things to make space. If you are serious about making changes in your life this is the episode for you. Start by thinking about the things that God wants you to remove from your life. 04:26 Pastor Lisa says that she added Pilates to her routine and has been doing it for a whole year now. Bekah tells the story of how her dad Pastor Mike gifts Pastor Lisa classes to Pilates. Pastor Lisa was committed and held herself accountable. 06:07 Bible verse: Let us throw everything that hinders and let us ruj with perseverance. Sometimes we get so caught up in the busyness of life that we end up having no time for ourselves and most importantly for God. 07:28 Bekah states the definition of decluttering. And says that she also thinks about one thing she was good at in 2025 was decluttering her calendar. Prior years she went through alot of anxiensnous due to how busy her calendar was. Every sunday she looks at her calendar and looks at what she can remove or combine to make room for something else. 10;02 How you lead yourself in January is how you will lead yourself in the following months. Bekah shared to the YA that every year for her bday she asks God what do you need me to do for my life. 11:35 Key word hindering. What is hindering your life or preventing God from putting something in your life or giving you something due to not decluttering. We hold ourselves back. 12:43 Can we stay more focused this year and be more intentional with God. Clutter is essentially distractions. 13:45 Fasting is crucial to see what God is doing for us on this earth. It allows you to focus on Gods will. So that his will Matthew Cha6-43. Seek his kingdom first. Challenge yourself. 15:00 Pastor Lisa says she fasts the first 3 days of the month. Every single month. 15:36: 1. Declutter your time. Epehsians make the most of every opportunity Dont act thougthlessly. Prioritize your time and your relationships. Bekah added to that and said that she makes space in her calendar to feel Gods presence. 17:54 Bekah said she joined Orange Theory and loves it and she fins that it is so easy to set her alarm at 5am to go work out but why is it difficult to set it at 5am to worship God. Taking a good inventory of your life and ask yourself "Are you imserting God in your life?" Pslams 5:3 19:23 Bekah says she bought a house in 2025 and the forst thought when she went to look at the house she looked around and said where in this house can I sit with God. Referencing Psalsms 5:3 again what does sitting with the lord look like for you right now? 21:13 Pastor Lisa says that it does not have to be the morning where you sit with God it can be the evening. Psalms 143:8. Pastor Lisa says that she says Good morning Jesus in th morning and then gets on her knees. What is one thing you can do different in the new year to start yout day? What in our day is not producing any impact? For Lisa its social media. She challenged herself to stay away from social media on the weekends. 25:01 2. Declutter our minds. Are you stuck in the same mental cycle. How much can your mind carry? 2 cor 10:5 take captive every thought Romans 12:2 be transformed. If you're negative maybe you need to have more faith. What you say matters. Are you gossiping or always ready to give your judgement or opinion. What if we replace negative thoughts and words with positive. Rather than saying you dont have something focus on what you do have. 29:21 keep jesus and his word as your daily focus. Verse Apart from me you cant do nothing. Plan your week starting on Sundays proverbs 16:3 commit to the lord. Planning for most is not their greatest strength but this is how we can simplify our lives so that we an give glory to God. God is structured. So we need to structure our lives to fit around him. Proverbs 21:5 Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity. 32:13 Pastor Lisa says its also important to have grace for others that are trying to plan and to have grace for ourselves if we do not follow our plan or structure. You control and determoe ow busy you are if you plan. 34:37 provers 27:17 hold yourself accountable. When God gives you plans,he wants you to execute. And lastly be intentional with the results that you want. What is your end goal? What do you want to accomplish? Verse referenced: habakkuk 2:2 and 3. 37:32 you become unstable when you have so many things in your head. You can miss opportunities because you are occupying yourself with something that is not apart of your plan. Bekah says she will be 30 this year and she told Elijah that she only wants things that are going to be fruitful. Pastor Mike does a coaching session every January to help people elevate their lives. The Great Life Planner is something that she is using now. 40:29 get ready for what God wants to do in your life. Its time to declutter. And we hope this episode helps you do just that. The goal is to encourage you to get going. 42:00 Thank you for allowing us to speak into your life. Pastor Lisa and Bekah talk about how excited they are about the Arise Womens conference is happening in Feb at the Blaisdal arena. Pastor Lisa closes in prayer.
Fr. Brendan McGuire - Podcasts that Break open the Word of God
It is such a gift to be able to celebrate a meal around the table and just feel the love of family. And it is a gift, but it also requires some hard work, because you have to show up, right? And that is a challenge for all of us, because we get busy with our lives, especially when we move out of the house as children. When you return to the house, you have to show up more than just physically. You have to be there emotionally. You have to be there spiritually. And that requires commitment. That requires effort. But that is what family does. Family creates an environment of safety, a place where you are always welcome to come back to. (Read more...) Here is my homily from the Feast of the Holy Family. I also include the special blessing for the families of the newly baptized. I hope you can enjoy it.
On Christmas Eve, Pastor Joe reflected on how God invites us to "Make Room". When we make room for God, something else also begins to happen: Making room for God reshapes how we make room for people!
Make Room For What's Next by Better Life Church
Fr. Brendan McGuire - Podcasts that Break open the Word of God
What I would like you to do today and this week is make a little bit of room, take something away. Because like the branches in that story, we had to clear some of the branches and the grass away. We had to take something out. Can we have just a few minutes less television? A few minutes less playing on the computer so that we leave room for Christ. (Read more...)
During the Christmas season—and really, all throughout the year—our lives are filled with responsibilities, challenges, and pursuits. But why does it so often feel like all of that gets us nowhere? Maybe it comes down to what we choose to make room for. Will you make room for Jesus and let Him lead you where He wants you to go? When we start with Jesus, there's always room.
Hope doesn't live behind us; it's being prepared ahead. We dive into Advent as a season of patient, forward-looking formation, pushing back on the rush to celebrate early and the nostalgia that quietly tells us the best days are gone. From Mary's courageous yes to the early church's costly love, we trace a simple thread: God meets us in the middle of ordinary life, and hospitality is how hope takes shape. We unpack Luke 2 with cultural clarity: the “no room” moment likely refers to a full guest room, not a failed inn, placing Jesus' birth inside a bustling home where animals warmed the night. That shift changes everything. The manger sits in the center of human life, not on the edges, and the incarnation becomes a model for how we welcome Christ now—by welcoming people whose presence may complicate our schedules and challenge our assumptions. Mary's forward-looking faith counters the despair of longing for rooms we can't return to; Advent trains us to prepare a place while Christ prepares one for us.From there, we connect the dots to the early church's witness. The gospel spread less through polished arguments and more through embodied compassion—tables set for strangers, care for the vulnerable, and courage to love beyond convenience. As we move toward Christmas, we name the most sacred work many of us will do: set the family table, slow down enough to notice the lonely, and make room for God in the mess, the noise, and the real. If Jesus was born in a house, then our homes can become holy ground today. My hope is that this podcast helps grow your faith and equips you to accomplish your dreams and goals!Follow me on InstagramFollow me on FacebookFollow me on TikTok
Make Room For Jesus by Better Life Church
ReThink Life Church 10899 M
Our lives are filled with demands on our time, our attention, and our affections. And because those demands oftentimes compete, we live with constant tension. This Sunday, we’re looking into a part of the Christmas story that helps us find a way out. Join us as we learn together what it has to tell about how to make room for peace.
As we celebrate the birth of our Lord, Pastor Matt brings our Make Room sermon series to a close as he teaches on the almost natural reaction to worship the Lord, with awe, fear, and wonder like the shepherds on a hillside in response to the glory of God and the heavenly display of angels. May our hearts expand with a desire to worship Christ the King - our long expected hope of glory.'Big House Church is cultivating a community of passionate worshippers who partner with Jesus to create a kingdom culture on earth as it is in heaven. We regularly meet on Sundays @ 9 & 11 AM at the Zeider Theater in Town Center Virginia Beach.Learn more at www.bighousechurch.com.
When Jesus arrives not just as a comforting presence but as a true King, everything is challenged. In this Advent message from Matthew 2, we're invited to examine what it really means to make room for Christ—and what might be stirred or unsettled when He comes to rule, not just inspire.
In John 15:11, Jesus' purpose for sharing His words of life is for every believer to obtain FULLNESS of joy! Not a fleeting happiness or some kind seasonal contentment, but a lasting joy that doesn't come from our circumstances. This is a joy that peacefully rests completely in the hope of Jesus Christ!
Today’s Bible Verse: “And she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.” — Luke 2:7 (NIV) Luke 2:7 captures the quiet, humble moment where heaven touched earth. The Savior of the world did not arrive in comfort or celebration but in simplicity and scarcity. This verse reminds us that God often enters our stories in unexpected places—ordinary, overlooked, and far from ideal. Meet Today’s Host: Reverend Jessica Van Roekel
