when people first hear about DOR, they believe that that the "D" of DOR means "depleted" ovarian reserve. This is not true! To set the record straight, DOR means "decreased" ovarian reserve. The other thing that happens when the word "decreased" gets mixed up for "depleted," is that many people next assume that getting a DOR diagnosis means that they will need to use donor eggs in order to get pregnant. This is also not true! With DOR, you still have eggs, you just don't have as many eggs as you once did. In this episode, I'll be sharing more about DOR. At some point, every one with a uterus will go through it. I'll talk about when egg reserves tend to decline, what tests you can take to determine your egg reserve levels, what you can do to keep your eggs healthy, and when you might consider using donor eggs. In this episode, Leigh Ann welcomes Dr. Scott Sherr, co-founder of Troscriptions, for a conversation on GABA, anxiety, stress, sleep, and fast-acting nervous system support. Dr. Sherr shares how his background in internal medicine, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and health optimization medicine led him to help create products designed to support people while they are on a longer healing journey. He explains why many people may be struggling with GABA deficiency, how chronic stress can deplete the body's calming pathways, and why anxiety, insomnia, racing thoughts, and low energy are often interconnected. Leigh Ann and Dr. Sherr discuss the unique buccal troche delivery method, how it differs from capsules and sublingual supplements, and why it can allow for faster absorption and more flexible dosing. The conversation also explores TroCalm, Trozy, alcohol's impact on the GABA-glutamate balance, sleep architecture, and why calming the nervous system does not have to mean feeling sedated.Product Discount Codes + LinksHoolest: Website (Discount Code: THEACCRESCENT10)Froya Hair Care: Website (Link gives 10% off)Herbal Face Food: Website (Discount Code: LAL30)Episode LinksTroscriptions - Website (Discount Code: LEIGHANN)Guest InfoDr. Scott Sherr - WebsiteRelated EpisodesPodcast Ep. 203: Anna Finck - Reconnecting to Our Bodies, Reclaiming Our Health, and Remembering Our PowerPodcast Ep. 150: Michael Byrne - The Bia Smart Sleep MaskWork w/Leigh AnnLearn: What is EVOX Therapy?Book: Schedule a Session or FREE Discovery CallMembership: What is The Healing Alchemy MembershipConnect w/Me & Learn MoreWebsiteInstagramTiktokYoutube
As warmer weather arrives, many people naturally begin drinking more water, reaching for electrolyte drinks, iced coffees, and cold refreshments in an effort to stay hydrated.Yet despite this, increasing numbers of people still describe feeling tired, foggy, overheated, and unable to properly recover during periods of heat.In this thought-provoking podcast, we explore the growing conversation surrounding hydration, mineral balance, magnesium, potassium, nervous-system regulation, and the modern “wired but exhausted” body.Looking beyond the simple “drink more water” message, this episode examines how modern lifestyles, stress, poor sleep, ultra-processed diets, alcohol, caffeine, travel, and indoor living may all be influencing the body's ability to properly regulate fluids, recovery, and energy.Exploring themes of electrolyte balance, the sodium-potassium relationship within the cell, restorative sleep, and hydration beyond water alone, this episode takes a broader observational look at why so many people today feel simultaneously overstimulated, depleted, and fatigued.

Send us a messageIn general, as a society, I think a lot of people are more exhausted than they even realize - not because they never rest, but because their entire life has quietly become a cycle of surviving until the next break. This means we push hard, crash, recover just enough, and then start the whole process over again. There's nothing wrong with looking forward to rest. But when your entire emotional stability depends on constantly escaping the current season, eventually even the breaks stop feeling restorative.Learning how to finish well also means learning how to live differently in the middle of ordinary life - not just during vacations, weekends, or emotional emergencies. Recovery matters. Rest matters. Breaks matter. But if your normal rhythm constantly empties you, then eventually even good rest starts feeling like a temporary bandage instead of true renewal. You were not designed to only come alive during time off. This week we wrap up our "Refuel" series by talking about "daily bread" and why it's so more important than weekly survival. We need to establish some consistent nourishment and a rhythm of dependence and renewal that is woven into ordinary life. Because sustainable living is rarely built through occasional escapes - it's built through small daily rhythms that help keep us grounded along the way.
Send us a messageAs the finish line of a demanding season comes into view, it's easy to slip into survival mode - just trying to make it through the week, the month, or the school year. But in this third episode of the "Refuel" series, we talk about the difference between simply finishing fast and actually finishing well. Because when we rush emotionally toward the end, we often stop being fully present in the moments, relationships, and responsibilities still right in front of us.This episode is an honest and encouraging conversation about staying intentional when you're tired, resisting the urge to emotionally check out, and learning how to close a season with presence, gratitude, and purpose. Whether you're in education, ministry, leadership, or just navigating a demanding season of life, this conversation will challenge you to slow down enough to notice what still matters before the season is over.
Why are so many moms feeling completely depleted in modern motherhood? In this episode, therapist and matrescence practitioner Vanessa Leveille joins The Sparkle Project for a powerful conversation about maternal depletion, identity shifts in motherhood, nervous system overwhelm, and the transition into motherhood known as matrescence. This discussion goes beyond postpartum depression to explore the physical, emotional, and systemic realities impacting mothers today, especially women of color navigating unrealistic expectations, burnout, invisible labor, and chronic depletion. Vanessa explains why motherhood is deeply body-led, how maternal depletion can mimic anxiety and depression, and why so many moms feel like they've lost themselves after having children.Whether you're in early motherhood, struggling with burnout, or simply trying to understand why motherhood feels so overwhelming, this conversation offers validation, language, and insight into what so many women experience silently.

Your people aren't running out of steam because they're soft. They're running out of electrolytes — and the water cooler isn't fixing it.Jennifer Martinez is a sports-medicine-trained performance specialist who decided the trades deserved the same recovery science as elite athletes. She calls it rapid restoration. And she's got an approach that turns depleted workers around in about 10 minutes. In this episode, Jesse and Jennifer break down what's actually draining your workforce — filtered water, energy drinks, caffeine, stress, poor diet. Why the headaches, cramps, fatigue, and on-the-job mistakes your crew writes off as "just part of the job" are symptoms, not character flaws. It's a $100 billion annual problem hiding in plain sight.Jennifer also talks about the faith that kept her going through early pushback, why she rebranded to "rapid restoration," and the mission underneath all of it: getting workers home to their families healthier than when they showed up.In this episode:Why "drink more water" is making things worse, not betterThe everyday habits silently draining your crewHow depletion shows up as mistakes, heat illness, and underreported incidentsWhy workers have to feel better before they'll change behaviorJennifer's journey from pushback to rapid restorationConnect with Jennifer Martinez: J Mar Solutions | LinkedIn00:00 The Hidden Cost00:37 Meet Jennifer Martinez03:44 Imperfect Action Wins06:31 Handling Criticism Gracefully08:47 When You Want To Quit10:10 Surrender And Rebrand13:31 Dehydration Myth Busting16:41 Coffee Stress And Coping20:19 Heat Exposes Depletion22:15 Rapid Restoration In Action26:34 From Sports To Job Sites29:40 Friction And Pushback30:51 Faith Fueled Resilience34:15 Squirt Squad Marketing34:52 Heat Stroke Save Story38:15 Industrial Athletes Mindset39:49 Change Through Feeling Better42:55 Surrender And Service45:26 Doing Right Over Profit48:23 Kidney Health Mineral Message50:22 Where To Find JMARGet the time management system that will make you dangerously effective: https://www.depthbuilder.com/time-management-webinar-sign-up-pageSubscribe to the Monday Morning Hugs Newsletter for thought provoking topics to accelerate your growth: LinkedIn Newsletter Download the free PDF copy of Becoming the Promise You are Intended to Be
Send us a messageNot everything that feels like rest truly restores us. Sometimes we confuse escape with renewal, filling our free time with distractions that temporarily help us disconnect without actually replenishing the deeper parts of us that are worn down.In this second episode of this 4-part series, we explore the difference between chasing relief and building healthy patterns that truly sustain us. This conversation is especially for teachers, caregivers, parents, ministry leaders, and anyone who spends their life pouring into others. Through practical reflection and spiritual insight, we look at how real renewal is often found not in dramatic escapes, but in small, consistent patterns that reconnect us to peace, purpose, and the strength we need for everyday life.

If you are a woman in midlife who is exhausted, foggy, losing your hair, and being told it is just aging — this episode is going to change how you look at your body forever. I sat down with Julie Sawaya, the co-founder of Needed, and what I learned blew my mind. Julie is a trained nutritionist with a Stanford MBA. She was doing EVERYTHING right — farmer's market every Sunday, nutrition certifications, incredibly intentional about every bite. And then she tested herself. Almost every nutrient came back in the red zone. If two trained nutritionists were massively depleted, what is happening to the rest of us? Here is the kicker. The nutrition standard we are all measured against — the RDA — was created in 1941. For men. Going to war. Based on the minimum needed to keep troops from getting sick. That is the floor we are still being measured against in 2026. As women. In midlife. Going through one of the most nutritionally demanding phases of our lives. Ninety-five percent of women are nutritionally depleted. Ninety-seven percent of pregnant women take a prenatal vitamin and are STILL depleted. And nobody is connecting the dots between pregnancy, postpartum, and perimenopause as one long depletion pipeline. We go DEEP on: The 1941 RDA standard, why it was built for wartime men, and why it is still failing women today The depletion pipeline: how pregnancy, postpartum, and perimenopause stack on top of each other and most women never get to refill the tank CHOLINE — the nutrient behind midlife brain fog that almost nobody is talking about (and the brand new April 2026 fMRI study showing a single dose improved working memory connectivity within three hours) Omega-3 and the midlife brain — why 89% of US adults are in the high cardiovascular risk range and why plant-based sources alone do not cut it Magnesium — the most Instagrammed supplement in the world right now, and why most women are taking the form their body literally cannot absorb The supplement trap: folic acid vs. methylfolate, magnesium oxide vs. glycinate, cyanocobalamin vs. methylcobalamin — and why 40% of us cannot even process the cheap forms because of an MTHFR variant Red flags and green flags to look for the next time you flip over a supplement bottle Why the protein RDA is laughably low for midlife women, and what we actually need to preserve muscle as estrogen declines The "repletion not restriction" reframe — why midlife is the time to add MORE of the right things, not eat less Your action plan for this week: how to get a nutrient panel, what to look at on your labels, and the food-first changes you can start tomorrow morning This is not a thyroid 101. This is not a supplement infomercial. This is the conversation I wish every midlife woman was given the day she started feeling like something was off. You are not broken. You are not crazy. You are not just aging. You may be running on accumulated nutritional debt that nobody told you to repay. That changes today. If you've been calling yourself lazy lately, this episode is going to gently change something for you. We've been taught to read exhaustion as a character flaw. Can't get off the couch? Lazy. Can't reply to the message? Lazy. Skipping the workout? Lazy. But what most of us call laziness is actually emotional depletion. They are not the same thing, and treating one like the other is making people sicker. In this episode, Monique walks through the difference between lazy ("I don't want to") and depleted ("I literally cannot"), the way emotional debt accumulates without us noticing, and what to do when your body is sending you a signal that your mind keeps trying to override. If you've been waking up tired, snapping at people you love, or staring at a task you "should" be doing and feeling absolutely nothing — this conversation is for you. You're not broken. You're depleted. And those are two very different roads. Ready to break the cycle for good? The number of people canceling or not using their permit to visit the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness rose again in 2025. The U.S. Forest Service says more than 40 percent of permits for May 1 through September 30 last year were never used.Depleted by injury, the Minnesota Timberwolves saw other players step up on Thursday to lift them to a first-round playoff series win over Denver. Now the battered Wolves face another tough test against San Antonio in the Western Conference semifinals starting Monday night. Expect traffic delays on a busy central Minnesota highway over the next couple of months as a detour goes into effect starting Monday. That detour is along U.S. Highway 10 just east of Wadena. MnDOT says it's to allow crews to replace a culvert under the highway. It'll be a short detour to start, but that will be extended to a much longer route in early June as crews replace a second culvert. The detour will remain in place until early to mid-July.
Send us a messageIt's almost the end of the school year. For school staff, many at this point of the year are just exhausted - but it's way more than being just tired, it's depletion. There's a difference. Tired can be fixed with rest. Depletion runs deeper. It shows up when you've been giving, carrying, and pouring out for a long time without enough space to be refilled. You can still show up, still do your job, still keep everything moving—but something underneath it all just feels… off.The goal isn't to push through and ignore it - it's to pay attention to it. Because those signals aren't weakness, they're feedback. When we slow down enough to recognize what's draining us and what actually restores us, we begin to move out of survival mode and into something more sustainable. Not perfect and not instant, but more aware, more grounded, and more aligned. In this first episode of a 4-part series I'm calling "Refuel - Finishing Well Without Running Dry", we talk about "Running on Empty" - what it feels like to simply not have any more to give AND how we can address it and point ourselves to a path to replenishment when we look in the right places. Though this series is themed for teachers, it's applicable to anyone who is at a point in their life when they just feel they have run out of what they have to give.

A rush to fill positions in the FBI and Justice Department has some current and former officials concerned. AP correspondent Donna Warder reports.
Pope Leo XIV's first Easter message, where he called for global peace amidst conflicts like the Russia-Ukraine war and the US-Israeli war on Iran. The "messy" irony lies in the transition from a solemn papal address on world "ravaged by wars" to the interpersonal "messiness" and psychological pathology discussed in the following segments. Guarding the Reservoir: Physical & Emotional Rebalancing 1. The Professional Martyr: Recognizing the Bait Decoding Passive-Aggression: Analyzing the "I'd love to just come float" comment. Recognizing it as a "loaded" statement meant to trigger guilt about your success, your pool, and your upcoming retirement. The Approval Trap: Acknowledging that they don't approve of your expenditures (pool resurfacing/safety) and why you no longer need their "stamp of approval" on your financial freedom. Protecting Your Space: Understanding that their inability to relax is her burden, not a flaw in your hospitality. You aren't "pulling her in" anymore; the pool is closed, and so is the door to her drama. 2. Healing from Past Emotional "Inflammation." The DC & Birthday Lessons: Reflecting on past vacations and birthdays ruined by a professional martyr The "Emergency" Pattern: The martyr's lack of planning or refusal to make hard choices became your emergency. Breaking the Cycle: Declaring that early retirement and your "new" life will not be a staging ground for their crisis-management. 3. The Physical Toll: Menopause & The Electrolyte Crash The Hormone Shift: Discussing the transition off HRT and the reality of "Black Girl Vitamins"—they help, but the body's chemistry is still in flux. The Sweetwater Incident: A deep dive into the "Full Body Crash." The danger of severe night sweats leading to "free water" loss and electrolyte depletion. The symptoms: Weakness in hands, knee pain, and full-body aches that feel like a setback in the anti-inflammatory journey. The Rebalancing Window: Acknowledging that it took 24+ hours to recover, highlighting how much more fragile our baseline is during hormonal shifts. 4. Lessons for the "Solo RV" Life Logistics vs. Physical Ability: The difficulty of managing hookups and setup when your body is depleted. The New "Pre-Flight" Checklist: * Prioritizing hydration protocols (Liquid IV, electrolyte powders) before the sweat starts. The necessity of organization: An unorganized RV + a depleted body = a dangerous combination. You're Not Lazy, You're Depleted Have you ever looked at your life and wondered, Why can't I keep up anymore? Why getting out of bed feels harder, why simple tasks feel overwhelming, or why your motivation seems to have disappeared? So many people blame themselves. They call themselves lazy, unmotivated, undisciplined, or burned out. But what if that isn't the truth? What if your body is not failing you at all? What if it is trying to tell you something important? On this episode of Mind Over Matters, Dr. Aimee Harris-Newon explores the deeper reasons so many people feel exhausted, foggy, emotionally flat, and unable to function at the level they once did. This conversation looks beyond self-blame and asks a more compassionate — and more useful — question: What is really draining you? In this episode, we'll talk about: Why depletion is often mistaken for laziness How chronic stress, poor sleep, inflammation, hormones, and mental overload can quietly wear you down Why your brain and body may be stuck in survival mode How emotional exhaustion can show up physically What you can begin doing to restore your energy, clarity, and resilience This is a powerful show for anyone who has been pushing through, feeling ashamed, or wondering why they just don't feel like themselves anymore. You are not broken. You may not be lazy. You may simply be depleted. Join us for this timely and compassionate conversation on Mind Over Matters with Dr. Aimee Harris-Newon. Tune in and learn how to recognize the signs of depletion — and what it may take to truly begin restoring yourself.
What happens when culture starves boys of emotion, and biology starves brains of nutrients? In this powerful episode of Truehope Cast, host Simon Brazier sits down with psychologist, writer, and mentor Gloria Vanderhorst for a bold conversation about raising emotionally healthy sons in a world that often misunderstands them.Gloria began her career working with young boys labelled “hyperactive” and “attention-deficient.” What she discovered was far deeper: our culture systematically restricts male emotional development, leaving many boys disconnected from their feelings, and many men struggling in marriage, fatherhood, and identity.Together, we explore:Why are boys often misdiagnosed instead of understoodHow fathers shape (or stunt) emotional resilienceWhy husbands “disappoint” and what's really happening beneath the surfaceHow unresolved childhood experiences silently invade adult relationshipsThe intersection of psychology and physiology in building true resilienceWhy addressing chronic nutrient deficiencies may be a missing piece in mental health careAt Truehope, we believe mental health is both psychological and biological. This conversation brings those worlds together. If you're a parent, a father, a husband or simply someone who wants to understand the male emotional landscape more deeply, this episode is for you.Website: https://www.gloriavanderhorst.comBlog: https://www.gloriavanderhorst.com/blogLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/gloria-vanderhorst

Rethinking Women's Health: Depleted, Not Broken Women's health issues like hormone imbalance, perimenopause, menopause, fatigue, brain fog, weight gain, low metabolism, anxiety, inflammation, and burnout are not personal failures — they're signs of magnesium deficiency, mineral depletion, low protein intake, sleep debt, and chronic stress. You are not lazy. You are not crazy. You are depleted. Modern women are under-muscled, under-mineralized, under-slept, under-sunned, and over-stressed — and we've been told it's normal. It's not normal to live exhausted. It's not normal to drag through menopause. And it's not normal to accept brain fog and belly fat as your destiny. In this bold, truth-telling episode, we unpack real solutions: magnesium restoration, mineral balance, high-protein nutrition, strength training for metabolism, sunlight for circadian rhythm, deep sleep repair, whole foods, movement, and intelligent hormone support. Pediatrician and certified coach Jessie Mahoney discusses her article "Disruptive physician labeling: a symptom of systemic burnout." Jessie argues that the rising number of "disruptive" labels slapped on highly skilled doctors is not a failure of character but a predictable response to a broken health care system. She explains how burnout and moral injury deplete emotional reserves, leading to reactivity that institutions punish rather than heal. The conversation advocates for replacing punitive measures with evidence-based coaching to restore physician well-being, improve retention, and ensure patient safety. Have you ever felt so stuck that it seemed like there was genuinely no way out? Maybe you're depleted from years of putting everyone else first — your spouse, your children, your family — and you've lost yourself somewhere along the way. If that resonates, this episode is for you. And here's what might surprise you: the reason you feel stuck isn't what you think it is. In this episode, Brandy breaks down the hidden emotional patterns that keep people trapped in cycles of self-sacrifice, depletion, and caregiving — even when they desperately want things to change. She shares a few examples from people she's worked with and reveals why this "stuckness" almost always traces back to a specific pattern that started much earlier than you'd expect. In this episode, you'll discover: Why feeling stuck is almost never about your circumstances — and what's actually driving it The surprising childhood pattern that causes people to unconsciously repeat cycles of self-sacrifice and depletion as adults How hidden guilt, fear, or integrity issues can create constant distractions that keep you from ever focusing on yourself The "rock and a hard place" analogy that reveals the only real way out of feeling trapped Why "just think positive" isn't the answer — and what actually works to create lasting change If you're someone who feels like you've been giving and giving with nothing left — or if you feel locked into a life that doesn't have room for you — this episode will shift how you see your situation. When you're running on empty, your emotions hit harder and last longer. This week on Taking Control: The ADHD Podcast, Pete and Nikki explore what happens to emotional regulation when you're already depleted—and what you can actually do about it.Building on last week's conversation about compassionate reframing, this episode dives into the physiology behind emotional dysregulation and RSD (Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria). Pete shares insights from the polyvagal theory and the concept of the "vagal brake," explaining why breathing alone isn't enough when you're in fight-or-flight mode.Nikki breaks down the differences between emotional regulation, emotional dysregulation, and RSD with real examples that anyone with ADHD will recognize. Then they walk through practical grounding techniques that actually work—from ice cold water to wall push-ups to finding safe connection with others. You'll learn why your ADHD brain feels emotions at 100% when others are at 50%, why that negative comment from ten years ago still lives rent-free in your head, and how to create safety for your nervous system when you're already overwhelmed.Plus, get the free downloadable guide: "Regulate and Reframe: A Guide for Emotional Dysregulation and RSD" with simple tools to help you ground, reset, and find your way back to safety.Links & NotesDownload Regulate and Reframe: A Guide for Emotional Dysregulation and RSDThe Polyvagal Theory by Stephen W. There are seasons when you feel completely spent—yet life still demands more. The devotional opens in that familiar space: deadlines piling up, responsibilities pressing in, and exhaustion that doesn’t pause just because you need rest. The author describes hitting the wall after a full summer of parenting and work demands, realizing that even with the desire to recover, life sometimes doesn’t offer the extra cushion of time or energy we wish we had. When you’re depleted, determination can feel like it’s run out—and yet you still need strength to keep going. That’s where the devotional invites a critical shift: stop and ask God what He says about your predicament. Because we often carry the pressure alone, forgetting that God doesn’t just see our weakness—He meets us in it. The anchor word here is grace. Not grace as a vague idea, but God’s always-available, mercy-filled help that’s enough for the moment you’re in. 2 Corinthians 12:9 reminds us that God’s power is displayed most clearly when we’re weak, not when we’re performing at our best. Instead of trying to manufacture determination through sheer effort, this devotional points us to receiving. Receiving grace. Receiving God’s presence. Receiving the freedom to release unrealistic expectations and rest in the truth that God’s love isn’t dependent on what we accomplish. Grace doesn’t remove every responsibility, but it changes the weight of them. It replaces frantic striving with steady strength, offering refreshment to your soul and the empowering presence of Christ to carry you through what’s in front of you. If you’re worn down today, the encouragement is simple: God’s grace is sufficient for you too. It will restore you, replenish you, and strengthen you—both for the rest you need and the next step you’re called to take. Main Takeaways Depletion doesn’t always come with a break—sometimes responsibilities keep pressing in. God invites you to bring your weakness to Him instead of carrying pressure alone. Grace is not just comfort; it is God’s sufficient strength made available in weakness. God’s power shows up most clearly when you stop striving and start receiving. Rest and determination can both flow from the same source: God’s restoring grace. Today’s Bible Verse But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. - 2 Corinthians 12:9 Your Daily Prayer Here is a brief excerpt from today’s prayer: “Your free gift of grace comforts my depleted soul and refreshes my wearying spirit… Thank you for your restoring grace and your sufficient strength.” You can listen to the full prayer here or read the devotional at the links below.
