Player Development First Podcast

In episode 12 we have Kurtis Smith who is the Hudson Valley Community College Women's Soccer program Head coach and NY Shockers Women's Team Head coach and who also works with Beestera Soccer Training co-ordinating thier team training programs. He also takes a lot of private training sessions and works on camps and clinics through that organization.

In this Episode Gregg talks with Phil Phillipou, who is the Alicante City FC Director of Methodology. Phil got started coaching at a young age with Crystal Palace with community coaching before going to the university of south Wales and working within Cardiff City's academy, he then went to the United states working within UK Elite soccer. Wanting to further his education he undertook a football studies Masters at Escuela Universitaria Real Madrid Universidad Europa. He now lives in Alicante with his current role. 

Today Ian Wing and Gregg Megaw discuss Ians introduction to Soccer, the timeline of his coaching roles in New York state and his current role of Director of coaching at East Fishkill Soccer Club. We also discuss how he got into college coaching, botH his volunteering and roles in an assistant capacity before taking a head coaching job at Dutchess Community college. We also discuss how children playing multiple sports with juggling competitive soccer.

In episode 9 we have on Stuart Harte, who talks about his playing experiences as a young professional in England with Bristol Rovers, his journey through the english football league and into the conference and his experiences as a youth coach and Director of Coaching in Oakland California, he also discusses parent education within his club environment.

In This Episode Austin Ardrey and Gregg Discuss how soccer players can benefit from speed development training, how coaches can implement speed training into their practice, pre game warm up activities, the importance of Speed reserve and injury prevention. We also discuss Austin's background and future goals with his online Speed school and having a speed specific facility. Today Ben Scott and Gregg Megaw discuss issues within sideline behavior from coaches and parents and how it impacts the players enjoyment and the development environment.

In this episode, Wayne discusses his playing career playing for Millwall as a Scholar, getting his first professional contract with Glasgow Rangers and getting representative honors playing within the Northern Ireland set up. Wayne also discusses his time playing with clubs within the Irish league and gives advice to young goalkeepers.

In Episode #5 We have Orman Okunaiya who is currently the First Team and U23 Assistant coach at Qatar Sports Club in the Qatar Starts League. He played professional soccer in the Philipines for Ceres Football Club and was also played and became assistant first team coach at Bhanyankara FC in Indonesia. Orman Holds the UEFA B License and is a candidate on the UEFA A license.  

In Episode 4 we have Michael Carroll, who is the Player development director at SG1 Soccer Club in Katy, TX. Michael gives his career timeline and what his role as Player Development Director entails. He elaborates on what one of his sessions look like at u6, u7, u8 age groups, how he structures the practice and how he adds complexity to the activities as players develop. He also explains the why behind his methodology and how he encourages player decision making.

In Episode 3 we have Ivan Gonzalez who is the boy's Academy Director at SG1 Soccer Club in Katy, TX just outside of Houston. We hear about Ivan's coaching journey, SG1's methodology, his academy director role, what that entails on a weekly basis and his experiences with coaching education including U.S Soccer, La Liga and Tovo Courses.

In episode 2 Gregg Megaw and Eoin Wearen discuss Eoin's playing career with West Ham United's academy, representing the Republic of Ireland and experiences within League of Ireland and Irish League sides. We also discuss Eoin's move to the U.S and his current role at Liverpool International Academy in Illinois 

In our first episode, we discuss Ben's introduction to coaching, his roles since moving to the United States to coach, his experiences on coaching licenses and youth soccer development at the younger ages. Ben is the Boys Director of Coaching at LMFC in Westchester County, NY, a staff coach at NCE and owns GB Soccer Coaching.
