It's the beginning of a new era at Cardiff City and Newport County as both clubs prepare for life under new, and inexperienced, managers. The Bluebirds, playing in the third level of English football for the first time in 21 years, have opted for the blue side of Manchester by appointing for former Manchester City youth coach Brian Barry-Murphy. The Exiles, meanwhile, have gone for the red side by choosing former Manchester United youth coach Dave Hughes. Both clubs have ample room for improvement after hugely disappointing performances last season. But is there room for optimism this season?Wrexham and Swansea have another week's preparation for the start of the Championship season - and both have been making plenty of headlines over the summer. The Dragons have showed their promotion intent again with some eye-catching signings, and they're not finished yet. The Swans took everyone by surprise with the announcement that Snoop Dogg has become a co-owner as an investor. It's building up nicely to be another fascinating season for Welsh football.

What do you get when you cross a pro soccer player, a marketing strategist, a drone-operating fugitive hunter, and a guy who's helped move hundreds of millions in ad revenue — all before 30?You get Cameron Saunders. And no, we didn't make him up.In this episode of I'm an Artist, Not a Salesman, Luis sits down with Cameron Saunders — the 26-year-old Chief Revenue Officer at Youngry, former pro athlete, and real-life James Bond-in-training. From European soccer fields to UFC campaigns, fugitive tracking to NASCAR boardrooms, Cameron's story is wild — and it's real.It all starts at Valley Forge Military Academy, where Cameron signed up to be broken down and rebuilt. Discipline and leadership became his foundation — from leading 350 cadets in formation to directing million-dollar marketing strategies. His motto: Real leaders show up. They serve. They lead from the front. From there, the journey winds through:Becoming an elite youth soccer player in PhillyTurning down an MLS contractSigning with Cardiff City in WalesTraining through the pandemic and being flown home by the U.S. embassyBut Cameron didn't stop with soccer. While still lacing up his boots, he taught himself digital marketing, launched his own agency, and landed his first major client — only to get ghosted on the invoice. Lesson #1: business doesn't care how talented you are. This episode is about more than highlight reels. It's about grit, sacrifice, and waking up at 3:30 AM to chase a dream nobody else can see. You'll hear how Cameron:Helped grow a roofing company from $99M to $250M+Used NASCAR sponsorships as a hack to get into billion-dollar boardroomsBuilt campaigns that got clients in front of FedEx execs and national audiencesAnd yeah — there's the manhunt story.A convicted killer crab-walked up a prison wall and disappeared into the woods. Cameron, deputized by authorities, flew thermal drones at night to help track him down. His drone spotted the guy hiding behind a woodpile. Total movie moment. He also pulls back the curtain on political ad campaigns during the last U.S. election — from misinformation to media buys, and how it's rarely about people. It's about power, persuasion, and propaganda. Then things get personal.Cameron opens up about:Being a first-gen entrepreneurFeeling like an old soul in a young bodyHis fiancée — a former Disney NBT artist — and how she keeps him groundedWedding plans in the Dominican RepublicFlipping houses, mentoring talent, and nerding out on watches and photographyIf your life doesn't make sense on paper but makes perfect sense to your gut — this episode's for you.Cameron Saunders is proof you don't need permission to be great. Carl Roberts, Iwan Roberts and Sam Vokes reflect on a wild night in Brussels that led to Craig Bellamy's first defeat as Wales coach. Despite battling back from 3-0 down with goals from Harry Wilson, Sorba Thomas and Brennan Johnson, Wales ultimately left the Belgian capital empty handed. Was it a missed opportunity to take points off the group favourites, or was Bellamy right to keep pushing for a win?And with no end in sight to Cardiff City's managerial hunt, how much of an impact will the continuing uncertainty have on their pre-seasons plans?
The boys are joined by Swansea City legend John Cornforth and he talks about being the 1st player to ever get sued for a tackle that led to an injury, playing for Sunderland as a teenager, the “Super John” song and getting told he was moving to the Swans while on holiday in Ibiza. John talks about the atmosphere at the WBA playoff off game, his dislike for modern football, Frank Burrows meltdowns, borrowing the Directors lounge at the Vetch and winning the Autoglass trophy at Wembley. John talks about getting called up for Wales, the Kevin Cullis debacle, only lasting a month at Cardiff City because the fans hated him, having Uri Geller as a chairman at Exeter and making wine in a cupboard in Kuwait plus much much more…..@ambitioniscritcal1997 on Instagram @TheAiCPodcast on Twitter
Cardiff City's 18-year-old right-back Ronan Kpakio was the surprise name in Wales' squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Liechtenstein and Belgium at the beginning of next week.
Mark Griffiths sees Wrexham's season end with a typical display of heart.
fWotD Episode 2912: 1925 FA Cup final Welcome to Featured Wiki of the Day, your daily dose of knowledge from Wikipedia's finest articles. The featured article for Friday, 25 April 2025, is 1925 FA Cup final. The 1925 FA Cup final was an association football match contested by Sheffield United and Cardiff City on 25 April 1925 at Wembley Stadium in London, England. The final was the showpiece match of English football's primary cup competition, the Football Association Challenge Cup (FA Cup), organised by the Football Association. Sheffield United won the game with a single goal. Both teams entered the competition in the first round and progressed through five stages to reach the final. Sheffield United conceded only two goals en route to the final, both in a 3–2 victory over their local rivals The Wednesday in the second round. Cardiff also conceded twice before the final, once in the fourth round and once in the semi-final. They struggled to overcome Third Division North side Darlington in the first round, needing two replays to progress. This was the second time a team from outside England had reached an FA Cup final. The first, Scottish side Queens Park, played in the 1885 final. It was also the first time a Welsh team had reached the final of the competition.Nearly 92,000 spectators attended the final. The only goal of the game was scored by Sheffield United's Fred Tunstall after 30 minutes when he dispossessed Harry Wake on the edge of the Cardiff penalty area before shooting past goalkeeper Tom Farquharson. Cardiff were unable to respond and the match finished 1–0, giving Sheffield United their fourth FA Cup triumph. The match remains the last time Sheffield United have won the competition. Cardiff returned to Wembley two years later, in the 1927 final, when they won the trophy for the first time. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:25 UTC on Friday, 25 April 2025.For the full current version of the article, see 1925 FA Cup final on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm standard Aditi.
And suddenly Cardiff City have just two games to save themselves from relegation to League One. Manager Omer Riza paid the price for a run of one win in 13 with the sack, leaving local hero Aaron Ramsey the unenviable task of trying to save the Bluebirds. He was close to securing a precious win in his first game in charge, but a wonder strike from Oxford's Cameron Brannagan ended that. So it leaves Cardiff needing to win their final two games of the season to stand a chance of staying up... and Iwan and Sam aren't ready to give up hope just yet.No such worries for Swansea, who have surged clear of relegation trouble with a record-breaking run of wins. Has Alan Sheehan done enough to warrant the manager's job on a full-time basis? And the battle between Wrexham and Wycombe for second place in League One took another twist over Easter, much to Sam's annoyance! But at least he felt the love from the Burnley faithful on the long journey back from Bolton.
In this episode of the Football Drop podcast, hosts Will and Ben reflect on their recent personal experiences, including a heartfelt conversation and some inappropriate comments from Will towards his apparent crush Ben. In this engaging conversation, Will and Ben delve into various aspects of football, discussing the mentality of players, the performance of teams like Newcastle, Villa, Brentford, Brighton, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United, and their journeys in the Champions League. He plays upfront for Sunlun...and thank God he does.
