Thrilled to welcome BJ Smith to the PodUp Podcast. BJ is an ecommerce marketing coach, educator and podcaster on the Social Impact Show and Marketing Group Therapy. BJ and I worked together producing podcasts for the Advertising Week conference this year. We talk about that experience, why podcasting at an event could make sense for your group or business, and what podcasters have to do in order to more effectively market their podcasts. Reminder to check out the brand new podcast from MPassy productions, ‘Radiate with Betty Liu.’ This is an an excellent interview series I have been working on that you are not going to want to miss. **Apologies, I know I said I’d be off one week and it wound up being two. The move and some other things just kept me from producing a great episode last week so I took the extra time to make sure I delivered quality content. Thank you for coming back*** Class is in session with this week’s guest Jeff Bradbury, founder and creator of Teachercast.net. This an amazing podcast, teacher, educator, blogger and all around nice guy. He offers some excellent advice on getting started, growing your community and maintaining a work-life balance to make your publishing venture a success. We also catch up on some podcasting news that happened in the last few weeks including word that Google Play will start offering podcasts and how to submit your RSS feed, as well as word that Ringr is releasing a new version of the software with new features. Plus, super excited to announce the Radiate Podcast with Betty Liu. This is an an excellent interview series I have been working on that you are not going to want to miss. Prepared to get motivated as we bring Scott Doucet to the PodUp Podcast. He is the host of the Edge-ucation podcast. It’s a show focused on helping folks live a motivated, adventurous and passionate life. The reason we are excited to bring Scott on is that he actually took his digital show and is now getting on the radio. It’s a fantastic story about how he made that connection and there’s a lot you can learn about your venture from hearing it. We also check out some news that came out last week suggesting that a television series is in the work about the hit podcast Serial. This would be another huge boost to the podcasting world and something we would be very excited to see. He's a super nice guy and is putting out a book soon that sounds like it will provide a ton of great resources to the podcasting community. This week I also recap my experience at the Mid-Atlantic Podcast Convention held by Joe Pardo and included amazing guests like School of Podcasting's Dave Jackson, ShePodcasts' Jessica Kupferman, Teachercast's Jeff Bradbury, MuppetCast's Steve Swanson, Digital Dads' Brent Basham and Appendipity's Joey Kissimmee. Not to mention just an amazing collection of people who will hopefully be featured on future episodes.

This week we have Bernie Wagenblast, veteran broadcaster, transportation expert, and creator of TransportationRadio.com and CranfordRadio.com. Bernie has a ton of experience in audio and offers some amazing wisdom to folks who are thinking about podcasting as their passion and career. And while Bernie may not have really considered himself a podcaster, I think he offers more to this community than many of the self-proclaimed podcast gurus. This week we also look at a new podcast series LimeTown, which I hope will become the next Serial. It's a fictional story told exclusively through audio and something that I hope will spur more people to create unique work for the podcast space. Make sure you check out her podcast on SoundCloud, iTunes and at the website MidCenturyModernMag.com. And please send her and her family all of the love and support that you can. This week we have Ramona Rice, the SportsGalPal. Her podcast of the same name can be found at SportsGalPal.com and BlogTalkRadio.com. She has an amazing story about how she became passionate about sports and podcasting and what she did to find her unique place in the podcasting world. You should definitely check out her show and do what you can to support her. We also look at the announcement from Midroll about Howl Premium. While the announcement is definitely a promising sign for the industry, I do have a small complaint about it which you can hear in this week's episode. Thrilled to welcome back Richard Davies, co-host of the How Do We Fix It Podcast and founder of Davies Content productions. Richard had the pleasure of attending Podcast Movement this year in Texas and was excited to talk about his experience. (Editor's Note - After taping Richard remembered that he did see Matt Lieber of Gimlet Media speak at Podcast Movement...and said he was very good) This week we also learned that the Interactive Advertising Bureau is holding its first ever Podcast Upfront Showcase on September 10th. This is huge news for digital audio in that it will give advertisers a chance to see what the industry is doing and why they should plow some of their marketing budgets into podcasts. This week features Joseph Berman, creator and curator of the PodToPod podcast newsletter. Which you can sign up for at PodtoPod.com. Joseph explains why he started this newsletter and his latest thoughts on the industry and the community as a whole. Super nice guy who I promise we'll have on again. This week's interview was recoreded using the Ringr App, which made Joe sound great! Me not so much, but I explain why that happened. It's not Ringr's fault. Its mine. Also this week I take a look at a new podcast hosting platform called Awesound that is definitely worth checking out, especially if you are new to the podcasting industry. It will give you a great head start to posting, getting searched and even monetizing your podcast this year. As always, don't forget to check out "The Hilarie Barsky Show." That's a daily podcast with Hilarie Barsky, comedian Cathy Caldwell and me. It's a ton of fun. Maybe you're not the demographic for it, but it's the perfect podcast to get your folks interested in the medium. Also, as a reminder, if you recently launched a new podcast, are considering one, or just want to be more involved in the podcasting industry, shoot me a note and let's talk about your aspirations right here on PodUp. This week, David Patton returns to discuss digital marketing and podcasts. Â That leads to some interesting tangents on podcast notifications and some of the alternative social networks for promoting your podcasts. Â And speaking of tangents, we go on a few others, in particular, one on the new Pebble Time smartwatch. Â I bring that up because this week's intro includes some observations on smartwatch's and podcasts. Â So far, I've only looked at the Pebble Watch and explored some Apple Watch apps. Â I'll have to go check out some of the Android-based ones and see if they are doing a good job integrating digital audio for podcasters. Â Either way, smartwatches can be a podcaster's or a podcast fan's friend. Â And don't forget to check out some new podcasts I am promoting including last week's 'How Do We Fix It' podcast with Richard Davies and Jim Meigs. Â And, of course, "The Hilarie Barsky Show!" Â That's a daily podcast with Hilarie Barsky, comedian Cathy Caldwell and me. Â It's a ton of fun. Â Maybe you're not the demographic for it, but it's the perfect podcast to get your folks interested in the medium. Â Also, as a reminder, if you recently launched a new podcast or are considering one, or just want to be more involved in the podcasting industry, shoot me a note and let's talk about your aspirations right here on PodUp. Â Would love to hear from you! You can reach out by following me on twitter @PodUpPodcast or contacting me through my consulting website MPassyProductions.com.
This week, Richard Davies and Jim Meigs of a brand new podcast 'How Do We Fix It' come on the PodUp podcast to talk about their new venture. Â And keep following them cause this won't be the only project they announce this year, I can promise you that. Also, this week I take a look at the Ringr App that has a new twist on recording voice conversations to use as podcasts. Â It's super easy to use and could be a podcaster's best friend in the future. And lastly, I have to tell you about the latest project I am working on called "The Hilarie Barsky Show." Â It's hosted by new friend Hilarie Barsky and includes comedian Cathy Caldwell and me. Â It's a daily show and a lot of fun, so make sure to check out TheHIlarieBarskyShow.com. Â I'll have the ladies on PodUp soon. As a reminder, if you recently launched a new podcast or are considering one, shoot me a note and let's talk about your aspirations right here on PodUp. Â Would love to hear from you! This week, budding entrepreneur and podcaster Tim Banos comes on PodUp to talk about his newfound passion for podcasts.  He recently started listening to podcasts and quickly became hooked. So much so that he now has plans to make podcasting a major part of one of his startup ideas. We dish on his favorite podcasts and what he loves most about the medium. We also take a quick look at some relatively new software for podcast discovery called Clammr.  There's a lot of great potential for this platform and we encourage you to check them out right now! Thrilled to be joined by Josh Coller and Adi Sloan of VoiceCast Media.  They talk about their new business aimed at helping brands leverage the power of audio to convey their message, as well as their plans for the VoiceCast Podcast (which in full disclosure, I will be a part of as well). They are both really good guys and have a great plan to help businesses.  From the 'I've Heard That Before Department': I am always looking for more folks to have on the show.  If you recently launched a new podcast or are considering one, shoot me a note and let's talk about your aspirations right here on PodUp! This week's episode features Chad Dougatz, owner of the Hangar Studios and host of the Chad's Pad podcast.  Chad tells us why he wanted to relaunch this brand and some of the folks that will be appearing on Chad's Pad in the coming months. He's a great talent and someone that PodUp Podcasts will support going forward.  Time to beat a dead horse, if you have recently launched a podcast or are thinking about getting into this space, I want to hear from you and have you as a guest on the PodUp Podcast.  Reach out to me via twitter @PodUpPodcast, go to my website MPassyProductions.com or email me directly Mathew@MPassyProductions.com.  Really want to explore why people are jumping into the podcasting arena.  Thanks again for listening and PodUp everybody.
David Patton is back as my guest on the PodUp podcast to talk about the massive potential for the podcast market and some of the new trends we have been seeing.  Plus we explore a new photo trend that David may have accidentally invented with his LinkedIn profile pic...the #Glancie.  Also, while I have been using the "PodUp" tag, this was the first episode where I get to test it out with someone else. David's a good sport and made it work but time will tell whether or not it lives on.  Reminder, I am always looking for more folks to have on the show.  If you recently launched a new podcast or are considering one, shoot me a note and let's talk about your aspirations right here on PodUp! My good friend and 'original podcast partner' David Patton joins me for the second episode of the PodUp Podcast. This was actually the first recording for this project where David Patton suggested the name.  But we also run through a bevy of other ones via domain searches.  (sorry, we do sometimes get lost in a tangent)  David and I also explore some other ideas for additional podcasts we could launch. While David will be a regular guest on the PodUp Podcast, we are looking for other ways to collaborate in this growing space.  David has one solid idea for Pods.com if anyone wants to tell them about this episode.  Reminder, I am always looking for more folks to have on the show.  If you recently launched a new podcast or are considering one, shoot me a note and let's talk about your aspirations right here on PodUp! You can reach out by following me on twitter @PodUpPodcast or contacting me through my consulting website MPassyProductions.com.  PodUp!
