What happens once a society finds a way to turn a human body into an energy source, and decides that's a good deal? Podcaster and TruStory FM co-founder Pete Wright joins Matthew and Paul to talk about “Lattice,” his debut science fiction novella, and the death penalty, corporate power, and family loyalty questions Wright built into its plot from the very first chapter.Wright talks about writing the book's bones as a teenager and only now finishing it, while Matthew and Paul push on why the story never lets its villains twirl a mustache, they just sign off in a procurement meeting. They get into the Kobayashi Maru, the Batman choice, and a death penalty scene with no last-second rescue. What does it cost a person to have power and refuse to use it?Full show notes and resourcesConnect with Pete Wright: Website**************************************************************************This episode is a production of Superhero Ethics, an Ethical Panda podcast and part of the TruStory FM Entertainment Podcast Network. This week on The Back of the Pack Podcast, Kyle calls an audible from the planned episode to mark a milestone that changed the entire direction of his life: the ten-year anniversary of his first open-heart surgery. For longtime listeners, this is a story that has been referenced many times, but for newer members of the Back of the Pack community, this may be the first time hearing how a heart condition, a failed valve, and two surgeries became part of the foundation for everything that came after. Kyle looks back on the dreams that changed, the warning signs that could not be ignored, the doctors who made all the difference, and the moments from 2016 that still remain impossible to forget. This episode is honest, personal, emotional, and at times surprisingly funny, because sometimes survival stories come with scars, hospital gowns, bad timing, and a few memories that still feel unreal ten years later. More than anything, this is a reflection on what it means to keep going when life interrupts the plan in the biggest way possible. From the first steps after surgery to the long road back toward racing, this story helps explain the runner, the podcast, and the stubborn refusal to let one defective valve write the ending. Ten years later, Kyle is still here, still moving, still telling the story, and still probably fine. Join us for a very personal episode about the heart behind the miles.
Er schreibt u.a.

Gospel Scripture: (all NIV) Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” Romans 3:24 “and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” Romans 3:25 (a) “God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood.” Hebrews 9:22 (b) “without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.” Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:11 “Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.” John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Romans 10:9 “That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Luke 15:10 says “In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” Romans 8:1 “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” Ephesians 1:13–14 “And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession- to the praise of his glory.” Ephesians 1:15–23 “For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.” Ephesians 2:8–10 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God‘s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:13 “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.“ Philippians 1:6 “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
2. OPENER + WERKZEUG-ANKÜNDIGUNG Das ist Folge 1336. Willkommen zu Unternehmerwissen in 15 Minuten. SMART das Kurzformat. Mein Name ist Rayk Hahne, Ex-Profisportler und Unternehmensberater. Wir starten sofort mit dem Training. Das Werkzeug heute: Der Käufer-Check Was Du heute lernst: Du siehst Deinen Betrieb mit den Augen eines Käufers. Du erkennst, wo Wert verloren geht. Und Du weißt, was Du konkret tust. Diesmal in eigener Sache.

This week on The Back of the Pack Podcast: Second Wind, our July series Why Are We Like This? continues with a look at the social side of endurance sports. Runners and endurance athletes bond over some very strange things: hills, heat, porta-potties, chafing, finish lines, race medals, bad decisions, and the phrase “never again” even though we are absolutely going to do it again. This episode dives into how shared suffering can create fast friendships, whether it happens during a rough race, on a brutal hill, at mile 10 of a half marathon, or through the shared heartbreak and celebration of something like London Marathon lottery day. We talk about the race friend pipeline, where strangers become familiar faces, familiar faces become running buddies, and running buddies become road trip partners, run club regulars, post-race beer companions, and family. There is also plenty of love for the post-race story economy, because runners trade tales of heat, hills, blisters, bathroom emergencies, forgotten registrations, and miserable races like sacred currency. We also dig into endurance peer pressure, group bad ideas, FOMO, and why “come on, it'll be fun” has probably caused more suffering than most training plans. But this episode also reminds us that life outside the miles still matters, whether that means concerts, lake weekends, family obligations, recovery, or simply putting the Garmin down for a while. Finally, we look at why run clubs work, especially places like Chasing Rabbits Run Club, where the miles matter, but the conversations afterward may matter even more. Why are we like this? Because somewhere between the miles, the misery, the medals, the group photos, and the parking lot conversations, we found our people.

The book, Signals & Levers, gives software engineers a practical vocabulary and toolkit for that examination. A core insight is that most organizational dysfunction isn't caused by bad people or bad intentions, but by systems that produce bad outcomes predictably and structurally. The named archetypes in the book — over 20 of them, covering patterns like escalating technical debt, the "fixes that fail" loop, and the boiling frog — give teams a shared language to recognize and reason about those patterns without having to discover them from scratch. The most practically actionable section of the conversation covers signals versus levers: understanding the difference between information (a signal) and an intervention point (a lever) is the foundation for making changes that actually work rather than changes that feel productive and achieve nothing. On AI, both authors are cautious in the right ways: Elisabeth uses it daily as a thinking partner but keeps herself firmly at the steering wheel. Joel's warning is starker — AI amplifies whatever is already true about your organization, including dysfunction, and if it lets you ship faster than you can learn, the consequences may be severe. The book closes with an exercise for the reader: if AI doubles your delivery speed, what happens when you can ship faster than you can adapt?RECOMMENDED BOOKSElisabeth Hendrickson & Joel Tosi • Signals & Levers • https://amzn.to/4g6Fb3CDiana Montalion • Learning Systems Thinking • https://amzn.to/3ZpycdJDon Norman • The Design of Everyday Things • https://amzn.to/4fV6QVlGene Kim • The Unicorn Project • https://amzn.to/3woXQDzGene Kim, Kevin Behr & George Spafford • The Phoenix Project • https://amzn.to/3X9cYxaPeter Degrace & Leslie Hulet Stahl • Wicked Problems, Righteous Solutions • https://amzn.to/3ScP0D9Frederick Brooks Jr. • The Mythical Man-Month • https://amzn.to/4gd10OVGerald Weinberg • An Introduction to General Systems Thinking • https://amzn.to/4dZCsaODonella H. Hope people click through to listen to the full conversation. But what if that's no longer how audiences consume content? In this episode of Imperfect Marketing, Kendra shares a story that completely changed her perspective on podcasting and content creation. After hearing a fellow podcast host describe being recognized for his clips rather than his actual podcast episodes, Kendra realized something important: for many people, the clip is the show.Today's audiences are discovering creators through TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and LinkedIn video. Many will never listen to a full episode, yet they still become part of your audience through short-form content. That realization raises an important question:If clips are often someone's first and only experience with your content, why are so many creators treating them as an afterthought? In this episode, Kendra explores:Why podcast clips have evolved from promotional assets into primary contentThe mindset shift every podcaster and content creator needs to makeWhy "finding clips in editing" isn't a reliable content strategyHow to identify your strongest clip moments before you hit recordCreating hooks that capture attention and stop the scrollUsing intentional clip cues during recordingBuilding self-contained ideas that work both inside and outside the full episodeHow short-form content is becoming the new discovery engine for podcastsWhether you're creating podcasts, videos, webinars, or social media content, this episode will help you rethink how your audience discovers and consumes what you create.Connect with KendraWhat makes you stop scrolling and watch a podcast clip?Kendra would love to hear your thoughts. Navigating the Empty Nest: How to Downsize and Reimagine Your Future (Season 6 | Episode 247) with Ya How to Downsize and Reimagine Your Future [TESSA] Welcome back to the Open Nesters Podcast blog! In our latest episode of Season 6, we continue our mission of trading empty for open, opening the door to new adventures, vibrant health, and reimagined relationships. Amir and I had the absolute pleasure of welcoming back one of our favorite guests, our dear friend Ya. Since she and her partner Carl moved away from New England down to North Carolina, I’ve been in absolute awe of how they've grown and evolved. They are the perfect example of what it means to truly lean into this stage of life—making dramatic shifts, coming together, and fearlessly stepping out into the unknown. A Whirlwind Move and the Empty Nest During our conversation, Ya opened up about their whirlwind relocation from Connecticut to Charlotte. In just eight weeks, they sold their house and moved away from the area they had called home for 16 years. What makes this transition so incredibly significant is that it was their very first move without their children. With their oldest two already living independently, their youngest daughter used this relocation as an opportunity to find her own place in New York. Ya shared how deeply proud she is of her kids’ independence, proving that as parents, we really do build a foundation that allows them to navigate the world on their own while we boldly figure out our next act. Of course, moving away from a four-bedroom house on two acres meant a massive downsizing effort. Ya described the intense but liberating journey of minimalism, dividing their lifelong belongings among four different households as her children also settled into new apartments. It was a beautiful, tangible lesson in impermanence. By letting go of physical items—whether they were handed down to her kids, sold, or donated—Ya planted seeds of understanding for her family that life is always shifting. It's a powerful reminder that our homes are ultimately made of the relationships we nurture, not the objects we collect along the way. Redefining Community with Intentionality One of the most fascinating parts of our interview was Ya's perspective on how we build communities throughout the different seasons of our lives. When we're younger, our circles are largely based on proximity, like schoolmates or entry-level coworkers. Later, they tend to revolve around our children's playdates and sports teams. But when the kids finally fly the nest, we are often left wondering who our true circle really is. Ya and Carl realized that at this stage, friendship requires absolute intentionality; they had to consciously figure out who they wanted to surround themselves with and what spaces actually aligned with their authentic selves. nd they certainly found their tribe in Charlotte! Moving to a walkable, diverse city environment allowed them to organically connect with people who share their unique interests. As polyamorous and active members of the king/swinger lifestyle, Ya and Carl intentionally sought out a larger Black and Brown community, using platforms to discover local meetups and “munches.” From roller skating and arcade nights to starting a dedicated Facebook group for like-minded couples, they are shaking things up and proving that you don’t have to quietly settle into a 55-and-over community unless you truly want to. Empowering Others Through Coaching and Canella LS Events Beyond her personal adventures, Ya is pouring her vitality into incredible professional projects. She is currently coaching within Black and Brown communities to help decolonize the mindset around non-monogamy, guiding folks to move ethically without the burden of societal shame or judgment. I was especially thrilled to hear about her new venture, Canella LS Events. By hosting events like an R&B-infused “Leather and Lace” night and educational impact play demos in traditionally “vanilla” spaces, Ya is normalizing alternative lifestyles and giving people a safe, welcoming environment to explore exactly who they are. Embracing Your Next Act As my partner Amir perfectly noted at the end of our chat, Ya is so remarkably comfortable in her own skin, and there is absolutely nothing phony about her. Her courage to start a new business, build an entirely new community from scratch, and authentically reimagine her future is deeply inspiring to me. If you are contemplating a major change in your own life, I hope Ya’s story encourages you to let the excitement of a new adventure completely overshadow the anxiety. Be open to the possibilities, say yes to the things that light you up, and remember to live every day in gratitude for the beautiful transitions ahead! Tawnie explains why there has never been a better time for established practitioners, business owners, and legacy professionals, particularly those in the 60 to 65+ demographic, to claim their authority. In a digital landscape flooded with instant AI generated startups, your years of real world credibility are your greatest strength and your strongest differentiator.Tawnie also examines the technology industry's enthusiasm for artificial intelligence, discussing Sam Altman's statement that AI makes this the “easiest time to get rich.” She shares her perspective on how online trolls and algorithmic systems can interfere with everyday business owners and make it more difficult for independent voices to reach their audiences. Finally, the episode explores practical strategies for building a platform you truly own:The 30 Second Hook: Learn the “Problem, Promise, Identity” framework to capture attention immediately and keep listeners from skipping your introduction. The Outro Strategy: Discover why every episode should end with one clear, highly focused Call to Action rather than overwhelming your audience with multiple requests.Sourcing Legal Music: A practical guide to finding royalty free music libraries that can help protect your podcast from copyright claims and unexpected platform issues.Key TakeawayWhen the public square is shaped by algorithms and anonymous online voices, you cannot rely solely on borrowed platforms. Building and owning your own platform gives you greater control over how you connect with your audience. Your microphone is one of your most valuable assets, so use it wisely.

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga. Maybe like me you love hearing stories by women who know who they are. They don't waste words on small talk. They don't give "nice" little speeches. When they speak, the whole room stops. Many of us spend our lives doing the exact opposite. We say what we think people want to hear. We shy away from speaking our truth, offering our ideas. For example, recall a time when you spoke up in a meeting. The surface story is: “I pitched an idea, it got rejected, and I sat down.” That's a report, not a story. The real story happens when you ask yourself why rejection stung so bad. It wasn't about the project; it was the moment you sat down and realized you've been shrinking yourself to make other people comfortable—and you're finally done with that. The memorable story—the one that sits in your chest—arises from your “depth of inquiry.” You're not looking for glory; you're fighting for your right to be seen and heard. TIP: Expressing yourself creatively isn't about being showy. It's about standing in your own shoes, saying exactly what you mean, and meaning what you say. Speak your truth like you know what you're talking about... because you do. And, I can help. Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with Motivate Your Monday and your host, Diane Wyzga. I am delighted to spotlight my friend, writer and devoted flyfisher, Jeff Ikler, host of Getting Unstuck - Cultivating Curiosity podcast as he talks with his guest Tom Reed, explorer, writer, landscape photographer, and wellness coach. Episode Notes excerpt: “The conversation explores how skill and serendipity intersect in creative work, the role of mindfulness in perceiving opportunities, and the thread of vitality that connects Reed's diverse pursuits. The discussion also turns to climate change and environmental degradation, with Reed emphasizing acceptance without apathy—a stance rooted in spiritual maturity and non-judgment. Ultimately, Reed's work invites us to reconsider why certain landscapes move us so profoundly—and what that says about our relationship to the natural world.” NOTE: Direct Episode Links to What Can Standing in Awe of the Natural World Teach Us? featuring Tom Reed are available below across multiple platforms, plus hundreds more Getting Unstuck episodes, and links to contact Tom Reed & Jeff Ikler. Diesmal in eigener Sache.
