Gratitude for our body My guest today is Chanelle Neilson of @momswhoknowpodcast and our topic is gratitude for our bodies. For many years, Chanelle had a terrible relationship with her body which included disordered eating and extreme negative views on her body. That all changed one day with a message not even intended for her. That one sentence was just the beginning of Chanelle changing the way she felt about her body, from negative, to neutral and then to love. One big part of that was gratitude. She share so many insights. One of my favorite being this: “Your body is worth loving, worth being grateful for, right now today. You don’t have to lose weight to deserve to love your body. You can be grateful for you body right now and that’s something you choose into every day, every moment you get to choose that.” Right now! Your body doesn’t need to change for you to love it, you need to change your mind. I’m so grateful for what I learned from Chanelle this week. You can find Chanelle: www.momswhoknowpodcast.com https://www.facebook.com/momswhoknowpodcast/ https://www.instagram.com/momswhoknowpodcast/
My theme this month is our relationships with our bodies. Have you thought of it as a relationship? Have you tried to nourish it? Are you listening to it? Quotes: "I am Stephanie. I am not my body"--StephaNie Nielson
Celeste Davis, of https://www.marriagelaboratory.com, is my guest again! (She was on episode 50 https://soundcloud.com/user-514183889-825615624/ep-50-authenticity-with-celeste-davis) Today we're talking about Live Lists/Bucket Lists, being deserving of having fun and creating a family culture of fun. Celeste really influenced my goals for this year because I listened to several episodes about fun when I was making them. I hope you find the importance of making fun a priority in listening to this episode.
Last year, my mom started writing down 3 things she was thankful for every day. As she used the Year Compass (yearcompass.com free!) and reflected back on her year through the gratitude journal, she realized some wonderful things she wanted to continue. We also talk about one of my favorite topics, creativity.
Majority of us make goals for the new year, but a very small number achieve, according to studies. SO why? Why even bother making them? My thoughts as well as what the top 10 goals were from 2019 vs 2020!
"Go Big" is my 2020 theme. I got it from Greg McKeown's "Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less" I'm talking about his book today and some applications in my own life. Quotes from Greg McKeown's "Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less" “Essentialism is not about how to get more things done; it’s about how to get the right things done. It doesn’t mean just doing less for the sake of less either. It is about making the wisest possible investment of your time and energy in order to operate at our highest point of contribution by doing only what is essential.” “Remember that if you don’t prioritize your life someone else will.” "What if we stopped celebrating being busy as a measurement of importance? What if instead we celebrated how much time we had spent listening, pondering, meditating, and enjoying time with the most important people in our lives?”
I'm letting you know exactly how I did on my 19 goals for 2019 AND I'm talking about my 20 goals for 2020. Woohoo Resources: YearCompass, really good FREE resource to help you better understand the life you want to live and how to plan for it.https://yearcompass.com

Discussing friendships this month! How to deepen them, how to avoid all or nothing thinking in regards to "Toxic friendships" and how to get your needs met! Resources: Frientimacy: How to Deepen Friendships for Lifelong Health and Happiness by Shasta Nelson Quotes: “The greatest gift of life is friendship, and I have received it.” --Hubert H. Humphrey "A fool takes offense when none is intended."--Proverb “It seems impossible to love people who hurt and disappoint us, yet there are no other kinds of people” --Frank Andrews “Forgiveness is a sign that the person who has wronged you means more to you than the wrong they have dealt.”--Ben Greenhalgh Shasta Nelson quotes: “Many believe that friendships are supposed to be easy and comfortable: pain free, all fun, total joy. I’ve heard many quip, 'I don’t do drama' as though they are so enlightened that they can’t be bothered with anything that feels messy. But the truth is that conflict and change is part of any healthy relationship, and so we must cease viewing our collisions as bad signs and instead see them as invitations for growth and depth.” “Our relationships are mirrors: They show us not just how loved and valuable we are but also where we have room to grow” “It’s easy to buy into the myth that help is only sincere if they initiate it, but that’s really not the case. The point is having our needs met, not needing someone to guess them. And any friend who’s willing to hear our needs and meet them is the very definition of sincerity.” “The most important actions in strengthening friendships are to affirm what we value and to let others know what kind of support would be meaningful to us”

Using Shasta Nelson's book, "Friendships Don't Just Happen" as a major reference, I'm discussing 5 ways you can make new friends! There are tons of tips and helpful information here. Quotes by Shasta: “If we want to meet friendly people, we have to be one first” A romantic relationship would never get off the ground if two people went out for a date, then ended the evening saying, “That was fun, we should do it again next month” “We’re just two women who probably could both use more support in our lives, but if we both sit back and hope the other reaches out, then I’m afraid that we’ll end up with a country of disconnected, depressed and lonely women (Please tell me we’re not there yet!)." “Maybe the gift we give to relationships is enough initiation to get the plane off the ground”Positivity doesn’t mean never complaining, or being constantly cheerful, or acting as if our lives are great when they aren’t. Certainly one one wants to be around someone who is constantly complaining, criticizing, pouting, whining, or acting as if life is never good enough. But that’s different than being willing to share our honest dislikes, stressors, and frustrations. Positivity doesn’t preclude being honest—pretending that we like everyone, every idea and everything.” “My goal isn’t to just throw compliments around as much as it is to make sure they are caught” "Vulnerability isn’t just about giving information to someone; rather it’s about being present as we are doing so. It’s not just about gaging when it’s the right time to tell something, but it’s also about knowing who we are when we do reveal ourselves.” “Vulnerability is less about an external action you take and more about the internal work you do that lest you be motivated by love instead of fear” "What hurts most friendships is a growing resentment—often unconscious—that comes from our subtle blame, jealousy, judgement, non-reciprocation, and neglect.” Quotes by Queen Brenè: "The truth is: Belonging starts with self-acceptance. Your level of belonging, in fact, can never be greater than your level of self-acceptance, because believing that you're enough is what gives you the courage to be authentic, vulnerable and imperfect." “Vulnerability is the birthplace of love, belonging, joy, courage, empathy, and creativity. It is the source of hope, empathy, accountability, and authenticity. If we want greater clarity in our purpose or deeper and more meaningful spiritual lives, vulnerability is the path.”
