Trump's Waco Speech and a Tragedy in Nashville

Yet another school shooting has led Biden to once again call for gun safety measures. Meanwhile, the GOP leaders offer thoughts, prayers, and conspiracies. Trump went down to Waco to attack Alvin Bragg and conjure images of cult leader (and alleged pedophile) David Koresh. Is this the desperate last act of a cornered rat or should we be worried? Then, we turn to a new study that shows Americans are abandoning our defining values. What will that mean for our country, and our lives? And finally, we'll check in with the folks over at Fox News to get the latest on how the Dominion lawsuit is sowing chaos in America's favorite right-wing cable network.  Thanks to our sponsor Dave! Sam and Emma host Jeff Sharlet, professor of English at Dartmouth College, to discuss his recent book The Undertow: Scenes From a Slow Civil War. First, Emma and Sam run through updates on the Manhattan Grand Jury returning to their Trump deliberations, the LA school strike, the Supreme Court declining to address Kansas' severe racial gerrymandering, UAW's election drama, and an ex-Tucker Carlson producer testifying on behalf of dominion, before diving into Israel's ongoing mass protests of Netanyahu stripping the judiciary's power, and the cognitive dissonance of Israel's “democracy for me and fascism for thee” perspective on the apartheid state. Jeff Sharlet then dives right into how his work reviews the United States' failing relationship with fascism, and how he views his own relationship to it, as a long-time journalist covering the Right Wing, walking through the complete refusal to even use the term “fascist” to describe the right until Trump's rise to power, and how his ascendency saw a marked shift of Christian Nationalism towards a cult of personality. After a brief definition of fascism, Jeff, Sam, and Emma parse through what role the cult of personality plays in fascism, and how the Christian Theocrats see Trump as more of an avatar, a tool of god to unite the right, before stepping back to look at the evolution of fascism over the last 80 years, looking at the global rise of fascism today, and its continued connection to cultures of aggrievement. Next, Sharlet looks to the 2020 election and end of Trump's reign as a particular spark under the far-right, igniting their theocratic attacks on abortion and trans people, also touching on how the far right, and everyone else, view this “slow civil war.” Wrapping up, they explore the concept of the “rabbit hole” of the far right, the absurdity of appealing to a politics of irrationalism with rationalism, and why the strongest measure in the fight against fascism is stepping up and building beautiful things that people want to be a part of. And in the Fun Half: Sam and Emma cover Biden's incredibly mediocre response to criticism over the Willow project, Sam reflects on his appearance on the PBD pod, and Daniel from PA refutes the corporate claim that companies are job creators. Adam from New Jersey dives into non-US coverage suggestions, Donald Trump recycles 2-decade-old GOP talking points, and James Comer thinks Congress should decide local laws. Montana State Senator Daniel Zolnikov goes off on his NIMBY constituents, and Anesh from India argues that the patriarchy was an accident, but feminism is oppression, plus, your calls and IMs! Sam and Emma host Meg O'Connor, senior reporter with The Appeal, to discuss her recent piece "POLICE KILLED HIS SON. PROSECUTORS CHARGED THE TEEN'S FRIENDS WITH HIS MURDER.". Then, they're joined by Kathy Hempstead, senior policy advisor at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, to discuss the impending unwinding of Medicaid continuous enrollment benefits. First, Sam and Emma run through updates on DeSanctis floundering in a theoretical primary, Twitter's antisemitism problem, TikTok's CEO's testimony, new anti-trans legislation in Arkansas and Georgia, and the author of Florida's “Don't Say Gay” bill pleading guilty to PPP fraud, before diving into Tucker Carlson's musings on the potential arrest of Donald Trump. Next, Meg O'Connor dives right into the story of the murder of Jacob Harris, parsing through the Phoenix Police's 12 hours of surveillance of Harris, 19, and three of his friends – some as young as 14 – the deletion of the Police Department's internal communication from that period, and the charging of his compatriots with his murder. Stepping back, O'Connor walks through the robbery investigations by the Phoenix PD that led to this surveillance, why the complete lack of probable cause forced the police to delay any confrontation until the last possible moment, and how careless their ultimate approach to the situation was, before they wrap up by reflecting on how Phoenix prosecutors were able to turn the 11 bullets fired by their Police into the fault of his friends. Kathy Hempstead then runs Sam and Emma through what Medicaid's impending breakdown actually entails, the role of joint Federal/State funding, and why dismantling this system is drastically more costly than keeping it in place. And in the Fun Half: Emma and the MR Crew tackle the absurdity of the Ted Lasso performance at the White House Press Briefing, Marcus from Ohio calls in to debate gun control and assess the constant threats to private life, and Nikki Haley incorporates China hawkery into her defense of wokeness being more dangerous than COVID. Tusli continues her anti-trans grift, Alyssa from North Dakota reflects on her political environments, and Alex Jones, Stephen Crowder ask Trump to calm down the incitement while also claiming “what incitement?” Kowalski from Nebraska also calls in, plus, your calls and IMs! Even Bernie Sanders has acknowledged that equality is about equal opportunity and differs from equity, which is about equal outcomes. He has stated that he is in favor of equality. However, what today's social justice warriors complain about has little to do with “equal rights” and more to do with unequal results. In 1991, Orlando Patterson, a black Harvard sociology professor, wrote: “The sociological truths are that America, while still flawed in its race relations … is now the least racist white-majority society in the world.” In this episode, Vince Everett Ellison, producer of the documentary “Will You Go to Hell for me?” discusses with Larry Elder what's behind the Black Lives Matter movement and how it came to be. After agreeing to hold a hearing at the U.S.-Mexico, all the Democrats on the House Homeland Security committee backed out. So, what about illegal immigration's impact on black Americans? Pamela Denise Long, a 7th-generation American, business consultant, and Newsweek contributor, joins Elder to explain why she thinks the open borders policy has undermined black Americans economically and educationally. A Project Veritas tape reveals the Albany, New York, school district's secret transgender agenda in middle school. Mario Balaban, Media Relations Manager for Project Veritas, joins Larry Elder to share the behind-the-scenes stories about the tape. The Larry Elder Show is sponsored by Birch Gold Group. Then David joins the show to discuss his Twitter hack, the Crapo bill that led to Dodd Frank rollbacks, who was responsible for regulating SVB in the first place, whether there were kickbacks involved, the need (or lack thereof) to bail out SVB's depositors, and whether Biden should look into firing Fed Chair Jay Powell and replacing him with a new Fed Chair. Kari Lydersen then joins as she dives right into the recent era of mass consolidation in the US freight rail industry alongside a shift towards “precision scheduling” that emphasizes efficiency, sidelining track segments, lines, and jobs that they saw as unprofitable, before parsing deeper through who this “efficiency” actually serves (the C-suite), as it undercuts the workforce, leaves shippers entirely at the whims of the rail companies when it comes to scheduling, and ultimately leaves these companies as shells of their former selves. Next, Lydersen, Sam, and Emma assess the massive boom in profits that the freight rail industry has seen over the last decade and a half, before wrapping up the interview by tackling what a nationalization of the freight rail industry would entail, and why it's actually a lot more feasible than it might sound. Bethany Kosmicki reflects on the culmination of 6 weeks of striking with TUGSA, as she, Sam, and Emma discuss the importance of understanding striking as both a last-ditch effort and a tactic that workers must be willing to exercise, before wrapping up the interview with a conversation on the future of US labor relations with a younger generation that understands their value. And in the Fun Half: Sam and Emma tackle Bethany ‘Grandma Killer' Mendel going catatonic as she's asked what “woke” means, and Larry Kudlow blames SVB's collapse on “Woke Banking.” They also walk through revelations around the Atlanta PD's murder of Cop City protester Tortaguita, Dalton from Ohio talks about ghost kitchens, and Dr. Karl from west Michigan discusses Germany's relationship with Israel. Sam and Emma host Alexandra Scaggs, reporter for the Financial Times, to discuss the recent turmoil surrounding the Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank. First, Sam and Emma run through updates on inflation, the FDIC's upcoming bank auctions, EPA water regulations, SCOTUS taking on a massive Shadow Docket case on trans rights, and South Carolina lawmakers proposing a death penalty for abortions, before diving into the incestuous dealmaking behind SVB's collapse. Alexandra Scaggs then joins as she walks Sam and Emma through the four central elements of Silicon Valley Bank's collapse, starting by assessing the rollback of the Dodd-Frank capital checks on banks with under $250 Billion in assets, which allowed SVB, the 16th biggest bank in the US, to completely undercapitalize without any awareness from regulators or the Federal Reserve. Next, Alexandra looks to the behind-the-scene shenanigans at SVB that kept them below the $250 Billion threshold, before turning to their relationship with depositors, making outlandish deals to get their clients to deposit well above the FDIC $250k insurance threshold. Bringing these various elements together, Scaggs explores how rumors of SVB's undercapitalization with the Fed's constant interest hikes were then spread to depositors, who made these losses official with en masse withdrawals during last Friday's bank run. Wrapping up the interview, Alexandra, Sam, and Emma tackle how endemic this particular failure was to the ideology of Silicon Valley, one that is grounded in cash-poor companies with promises of future profits, alongside the general culture of Big Tech. Sam, Emma, and the MR Crew also discuss the SVB collapse's relationship to the US' general failure of centralized planning. And in the Fun Half: Emma and Sam talk with Sterber from Idaho about the various disturbing bills coming out of the state, Sam eases Hamza from Utica's fears of a 2008-esque recession, and Newsmax brings on the post-Great-Recession gold hawks in the wake of SVB's collapse. They also summarize the Supreme Court's upcoming shadow docket case on trans civil rights, watch Judge Kyle Duncan throw an absolute hissy fit in front of Stanford students, and Cuomo turns to the anti-progressive AIPAC grift. 131: The Value Of A Morning Routine

How do you spend your morning ? Research says that the first 20 minutes after we wake up is when our brain is most vulnerable! Unfortunately, that's usually when we rush to our phone and jump up hurriedly because we are running later etc. It is tempting to fill our early waking hours with being rushed, hurried, or annoyed, but I want to challenge you to make the most out of your morning because this simple commitment will change the trajectory of your day! Over the years I have learned the power of having a strong morning routine and it has changed my life! Today I want to share my morning routine and why it's so valuable. 1. Pray- it's so important to me that I start my day off with gratitude and intention. So before my feet even hit the floor I make it a priority to Thank God for the day and set and intention! This has been so pivotal for me to feel connected and grounded! 2. Drink water- my aim each day is 64 ounces and I always get near or more than! This is so important to stay hydrated and energized so I can show up for you guys fully! It helps that I keep filled water bottles throughout my house. 3. EFT- no matter what I accomplish or how hard I work those Intrusive thoughts and limiting beliefs can be super real and hard to combat. While I have so many neat tools to use when they come up . Majority of the time I chose tapping as my go to tool to balance my energy and get me feeling super high vibe. 4. Planing- I have learned that if it doesn't work on paper it won't work in reality. So when I am planning my day (typically the night before) I build in at least one self care activity (we can't pour from an empty cup), a power hour to work on my most exciting goals, family time, client time, learning time etc. I have mastered the art of being proactive and less reactive and it may have been one of the best skills to this day that I have ever cultivated. Check out the best planner I have ever bought here: The Planner That Changed My Life: https://youtu.be/Wsl_-o1YZK0 5. Motivation - I am a life long learner and feeding that desire of mine helps me to grow and to even support you guys on a deeper level. I pick a podcast, a course module, a book or a blog to read each and every day. Move my body - being diagnosed with anxiety I chose the natural route to work with it. 6. If you're interested in learning more about human design check out this amazing free training here: https://www.nicolyawilliams.com/living-aligned-by-design-workshop. This has made a noticeable difference in my overall mental health ! 7. Eating- I am not a health freak and I certainly mess up with my eating habits but one thing I don't forget or overlook is making sure I eat each and every morning. While it may sound like a lot to start my morning it's become such a habit that it all happens in perfect flow! This is why I decided to share this with you today because I want you to begin to consider how you can create your very own morning rhythm! If you're looking to get started on your evening routine I have the perfect book for you. In my book The Devoted Dreamers I walk you through a simple acronym you can use to make your evening routine seamless. The United States government reportedly made duplicate payments to fund projects at the Wuhan, China, laboratory — the proposed origin of the coronavirus pandemic. A majority of likely voters want Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg to resign for how he handled the toxic train derailment affecting East Palestine, Ohio, a Rasmussen Reports survey released Monday found. The Treasury Department will allow the House Oversight and Accountability Committee to review suspicious activity bank reports generated by Hunter Biden and his associates, according to its chairman Rep. James Comer (R-KY). TikTok has hired a consulting firm with close ties to President Joe Biden's White House as the Chinese government-linked company has ramped up its lobbying efforts amid largely Republican-led efforts to ban the social media app.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Sam hosts Aaron Kleinman, director of research for the States Project at Future Now, to discuss the upcoming Wisconsin State Supreme Court election in April. Then they're joined by Peter Shamshiri, or Law Boy on Twitter, co-host of the 5-4 Podcast, to discuss the recent oral arguments before the Supreme Court. First, Sam runs through updates on the DOJ bringing a case against the Memphis PD, Biden's budget (and its record-breaking defense spending), the reaction to Tucker Carlson's white-washing of 1/6, and Twitter vs. the FTC, before diving into Elizabeth Warren's takedown of Jerome Powell as he shunts one half of the Fed's mandate (employment) in favor of the other (inflation). Aaron Kleinman then joins as he and Sam dive right into the Wisconsin Supreme Court race between Trump alumnus Daniel Kelly and “pro-democracy” Janet Protasiewicz, walking through the stakes – from election shenanigans to reproductive rights – before looking to the electoral nature of the state, with one of the country's worst cases of gerrymandering, and wrapping up the interview exploring the Democrats' success in special elections post-Dobbs, and how that could play out in the additional State Senate race. Peter Shamshiri and Sam then take on the status of Biden's Student Loan relief program, summarizing the argument his administration is bringing in front of the Supreme Court, why said argument is so emergency-specific, and why the justices' questions during oral arguments centered around administrative power. Expanding on this, Sam and Peter discuss the battle between the Chevron and Major Question Doctrines, and why the “standing” of the cases being brought against Student Debt relief is on flimsy ground, before wrapping up the interview by summarizing the Supreme Court's recent cases regarding the constitutionality of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the accountability of tech platforms for what their algorithms promote. And in the Fun Half: Another Daily Wire theocrat (Michael Knowles) preaches about why divine right monarchy is better at limiting power than democracy, Republicans try to pin Norfolk Southern's climate disaster on “diversity” while still refusing to bolster regulations, and Bernie Sanders launches his investigation into Howard Schultz's mass exploitation. Shopify and The Future of Shopify: Why does Glen think it is important for Shopify to have a tops down decision-making process for product strategy? What does Glen believe is the #1 reason why Shopify is such a large and successful company? What is the single hardest element of Glen's role today? How does Glen believe that Shopify will be larger than Amazon in 5-10 years time?

Don't miss out on this powerful episode as Dr. Kyrin Dunston reveals the key to unlocking hormone balance and prosperity today! Tune in now and take your first step toward restoring your hormonal health. Join Dr. Kyrin Dunston for this inspiring episode of Essential Step 1 of 3 To Healing Your Hormones: Stop Your Dishonesty!   (00:00): How are you being dishonest with yourself and how is that preventing you from having balanced hormones? Stay tuned to find out. (00:08): So the big question is, how do women over 40 like us, keep weight off, have great energy, balance our hormones and our moods, feel sexy and confident, and master midlife? If you're like most of us, you are not getting the answers you need and remain confused and pretty hopeless to ever feel like yourself Again. As an ob gyn, I had to discover for myself the truth about what creates a rock solid metabolism, lasting weight loss, and supercharged energy after 40, in order to lose a hundred pounds and fix my fatigue. Now I'm on a mission. This podcast is designed to share the natural tools you need for impactful results and to give you clarity on the answers to your midlife metabolism challenges. Join me for tangible, natural strategies to crush the hormone imbalances you are facing and help you get unstuck from the sidelines of life. My name is Dr. Kyrin Dunston. Welcome to the Hormone Prescription Podcast. (01:01): Hey, it's Dr. Kyrin. Thank you so much for joining me today for another episode of the Hormone Prescription Podcast and my YouTube channel. Today I wanna talk to you about the first of three steps that you need to take in order to balance your hormones. And it's not what you think. So you wanna stay tuned, so you wanna listen up. Most people think that the first step in balancing their hormones is what diet do I need to follow? What supplement do I need to take? What exercise do I need to do? What tests do I need? But they've got it all wrong. They're actually three essential steps that everybody must take in order to successfully, and the keyword is successfully balancing their hormones. Without these steps, you don't have a solid foundation on your hormone balance and your hormonal prosperity. So even if you have some initial success, you're eventually bound to fail. (02:04): Just like building a house on no foundation will never build a stable house, right? If you don't dig into the ground and put some type of cement and rebar and pilings or something deep into the ground to be a solid foundation for that house, you won't have a safe structure above ground. You've gotta dig into the ground first. The same is true when you're trying to repair your health and your hormones. So that house, if you think the first thing you need to do to build a house is go buy some lumber, and then you just start cutting lumber and nailing it together above ground, what's gonna happen when the first wind comes, that house is gonna fly away or fall down, right? So it's the same with your hormones. You need to dig down into the ground and put a solid foundation for your health and your hormones so that you do it the right way and you go about it the right way in a methodical way, just like in following a recipe, right? (03:12): You don't look at the ingredient list and then read the instructions and then just decide, oh, I'm just gonna put these ingredients together cause I want to, right? Pick, pick two out of 'em, right? And say, oh, I'm gonna mix those together and not follow the directions, right? Everything has a sequence, particularly for things like baking or dishes that require several steps, right? If you're going to make a great taco, you don't just take raw chicken and raw corn and raw onions and raw avocado and throw 'em all together, right? There's a sequence of steps. You gotta season the chicken, you gotta cook the chicken, you've gotta crush, crush the corn, you've gotta make the taco, right? That has its own process. You've gotta slice the onion, you have to prepare the avocado. And then when you put them all together, yummy, yummy, yummy. I think you get the point, , there's an order to these steps and you need to follow the process. (04:18): And a lot of people would have you believe that, oh, you need this test first. Oh, or you need this supplement, right? That's gonna fix it. Or you just need a prescription for hormones, right? And what I wanna tell you is that's all wrong. There is preparatory work that you need to do first. So I'm gonna talk to you about that in these next three episodes. So number one of three is you need to get a reality check and get honest about what's really going on for you. You may not realize it, but if you think about the biggest problem that's bothering you that you think is related to your hormones, let's say that you're in your forties and you are getting terrible migraine headaches before your period, and that is driving you crazy. Your doctor has you on some medications for that that you're having to take every month and all you wanna do is just solve your migraine problem cuz you think that's the only hormonal problem you have. (05:26): And so you want the supplement, the diet, the food, you know, exercise, whatever it is. But I want you to back up and you've gotta get honest in this step because our dishonesty is what is keeping us from finding the answers that will actually get us where we want to be. So what do I mean by that? If you're honest with yourself, your migraines are not the only problem that you're having with your health, right? Let's be real. Most women over 40 suffer with several health related symptoms. So what am I talking about? Most of us over 40 have weight issues. In fact, 60% of us have weight issues where we're overweight or obese or morbidly obese. Majority of us suffer with energy issues and fatigue. We may not notice it cuz we're medicating it with caffeine in the morning. And then we're using downers like alcohol to wind down in the evening. (06:29): So right there, majority of us are overweight and tired. So you're lying to yourself if you say that my only hormonal problem is that I have migraines, you might write off your weight problem and energy problems that you don't eat a perfect diet or you're just getting older. And what I wanna tell you is that all of the symptoms that you have in your body related to your health have some connection to hormonal balance. I wanna repeat that. So you hear me clearly cuz you're not gonna hear this at your regular doctor's office. Every single midlife, metabolic mayhem symptom that you have, the 60 or so symptoms that women over 40 and sometimes in their thirties can start experiencing somehow is related to hormones. Also, when you get a disease diagnosis, whether it's hypertension, diabetes, autoimmune disease, you name it, there is some connection to your hormone balance. (07:32): Hormones form the foundation of a woman's health. So you've got to get out of your dishonesty. And for a lot of you, it's your naive K because nobody told you this, it's not your fault, right? We weren't educated on this. I wish we would have this in our grade school and high school education at age appropriate levels, but we don't. So you're left to your own devices cuz you're not gonna learn this in the doctor's office. Well that's what I'm here for, to help you understand everything that's plaguing you with your health has some toe in the hormone imbalance syndrome, right? So if you're having migraines and you've gotta a weight problem and you're tired, let's list some others. Your skin is having a problem. You get this crazy rash, you only get it at certain times of the year in certain areas on your body, but you've been to the dermatologist and it plagues you and you can't figure out what's wrong. (08:31): Probably nobody looked at your hormones or talked to you about that. That could be hormonally related. Oh, and by the way, there's certain things that when I eat them, I don't know what happens, but I get this kind of indigestion and I might belch a lot, right? And I'm pretty regular maybe with my bowel habits, but every now and then something will throw me off and I don't know what it is and I, I get bloated and gassy, right? And you've been to the gastroenterologist, you've been to your interns or family practitioner or gynecologist and they've run tests or maybe they haven't and they told you, oh you just have a little irritable bowel or you just have a little reflux, right? And what do they do? Give you some medicine. So here you are in your forties and only thing you're online looking for answers to is your migraines. (09:19): You'll never find the answer that will fix the root cause of those migraine headaches. If you don't get honest about all the symptoms that are plaguing you with your health, what I call midlife metabolic mayhem, the 60 or so symptoms that many women over 40 and some even over 30 start experiencing as they go into hormonal poverty. That's where they don't have the hormones to support the high level of health that they may have been enjoying. And I have other videos and podcasts about that. So you have to get honest, honest with yourself and get out of your delusion and your dishonesty that this is the only problem and looking for answers to that. You gotta take an inventory of your health and write down all the things that are plaguing you. Everything even if you don't think it's significant, brings to mind a woman who recently went through one of my programs who actually happens to be a physician as well. (10:22): We'll call her Sally, that's not her real name. And she got honest at the beginning of the program cuz that's where I start everyone. We have inventories, we're checklists where you go through symptoms related to all the hormones. And she did it as honestly as she could at the time. Fast forward a year later, she did all the work with me and she came on the zoom one day and she said, Karen, I'm growing eyelashes again. What she said, I didn't even mention it when we started the program because I didn't think I'd ever have eyelashes again. I had been to the dermatologist and basically they didn't have any answers for me and they had tried me on some of the medications for eyelash growth and it didn't really help. So I thought that that was an unanswerable, unsolvable problems. So I didn't even mention it, right? (11:21): So she was in the delusion of corporate medicine that this problem can't be solved. And then she came on the zoom and said, I'm growing eyelashes. And she was like beside herself with joy about this because she had frankly given up. And you know that you've given up on some of your symptoms too. I know you have cuz I talk to you every day. Women just like you, you think doctors have dismissed you so many times and ignored you so often that you have come to believe that you are defective when the truth is that the solutions that most doctors are offering are defective and incomplete. And there is nothing wrong with you. And I always say if there is a health problem or symptom or disease and it hasn't been solved, it's because you haven't uncovered the right stone. You haven't asked the right question or done these foundational steps. (12:23): One of which is getting honest. The truth is, when you go down to the roots of a tree and you fix the roots, all the leaves and branches improve. And with mainstream medicine right now, you go to the dermatologist for your hair, skin, and nails. You go to the gynecologist for your female in fertility and reproductive issues, you go to the gastroenterologist for your GI problems, et cetera, you know the drill, right? So you're all on different branches of the treat, but with a root cause approach, we go down the trunk into the roots and solve it. And when you fix the roots, ev all the leaves and branches get better. So this is why it affects your neurological problems, right? Your migraine headaches, your gynecological problems, maybe you're in your forties as described and you're also having crazy heavy crime scene periods. It will affect your dermatological problems, right? (13:14): That rash that you keep getting, it will also help you with weight and energy, which really doesn't have a place in mainstream medicine. It's not something that's dealt with. So hopefully you're getting the picture that the first is you need to get honest with yourself, get out of delusion, get out of dishonesty, recognize that all these symptoms are related and make an inventory. If you come to my hormone bliss challenge, I give you a symptom chest checklist for each hormone so that you can see what symptoms are related to what hormone we launch these periodically. And the link will be near my bio. If you're listening to the podcast, it'll be in the show notes. And if you're watching this on YouTube, it will be below the video in the show notes as well. So come join me, get out of delusion and dishonesty. You're not going to get where you want to be without it. (14:10): If you keep believing and saying the mantra of, oh, I just need to fix this one thing, you might fix that one thing probably with a medication to suppress the symptom, right? That's currently how migraines are treated, but you'll never fix the other hormone related problems that you have, right? So your weight, energy, rashes, irritable bowel, gastritis, all the things, right? All the things like I like to say. So first step of three for that foundation in the ground when it comes to healing your health, and that starts with hormones for women, is to get honest with yourself. Another place where we sometimes lie to ourselves, I know cuz I did it too when I was a mainstream OB, G Y N, is that there's one shot wonder answers, and I think we've covered this a little bit already, but we might get that our $30 H m o copay doctor doesn't have the answers. (15:13): But then we're on the internet looking for alternatives and we wanna know the one supplement that we need or the one diet that we need that's gonna solve the problem. You know, you've done it. I did it too, right? There's no shame in it. It reminds me of a colleague of mine, a general surgeon who I used to actually do surgery with a lot. She was an excellent surgeon and I used to go to the health food store after I got healthy and got on my journey all the time, never saw her in there. And then one day years later, all of a sudden I saw her in there and we'll call her Katie. I said, Katie, what are you doing here? And she said, oh, I was diagnosed with colon cancer. This is a while after I had stopped going to the hospital cuz I was doing all my work with women on healing so they didn't have to go to the hospital. (16:01): And she said, I was diagnosed with colon cancer, I had surgery, I had some chemo, and I'm here looking for supplement that will help. Don't be Katie, right? Maybe if she had addressed her health issues and known about them years before, I don't know, maybe she wouldn't have gotten colon cancer. I have no idea. But there are no one shot wonders, there is no one supplement, there is no one diet, there is no one thing you are going to do that you're gonna go like bingo. That's it. All my health problems are solved. So you've gotta get honest about yourself and you've also got gotta get honest about who can actually help you. Who's the expert? So you're online, you're looking for the one shot wonder, and you see this person who calls himself a health coach and they do have some type of certification and they're selling some supplements and they tell you, you take this one supplement, I'm gonna sell you six months at a discount and everything will change for you, right? (16:59): Maybe they tell you a diet to follow too or some other things to do. Maybe you even pay them a lot of money to go into their one-on-one program, but you don't actually get the results that you think you should or that you were promised. Now, why do I know this is a thing? Cause I have a lot of colleagues in this field, many of whom are health coaches, nurse practitioners, et cetera. Some of them are the real deal and some of them aren't. It is very hard as a consumer from the outside for you to be able to discern who really knows what they're talking about and who doesn't and who can take me all the way and who can't. So that's one of the reasons why I'm so passionate about being out here, educating and teaching you, because I have not only the MD credentials, but I essentially have the ND naturopathic doctor credentials because I completed a fellowship from the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine in metabolic functional and anti-aging medicine. (18:03): So I have a ginormous toolbox. There are some things that I don't do or can't do and I send people to those experts, but I understand what it takes from a root cause to fix all the roots so all the leaves and branches get correct. And unfortunately, there are a lot of health coaches out there who will say things, for instance, like, oh, when you're in hormonal poverty, you don't need a prescription for hormones. And that's just patently not true. And maybe they haven't had the education or training to understand the absolute necessity for all the cells in your body, inclu, including the cells in your brain, the cells in your eyes, the cells in your heart, the cells in your immune system to have adequate estrogen, progesterone, testosterone. This is the biggest place I see that people miss. So you don't wanna miss that. (18:59): So you've gotta get honest about all of these things, right? Honest about your symptoms, all of them that are related to your health and hormones, honest about who are the experts who can take you all the way and help you honest about not going to the hardware store for milk, right? Your regular doctor isn't trained in this. It's not their fault. and honest about being discerning about the credentials of who is out there saying that they can help you honest about it's not one thing. It'll never be one thing. I know we all want the one thing. Maybe you can find the one true partner for life, but when it comes to your health, there's just no one thing. So getting honest is the first step, getting out of dishonesty and delusion. Thanks you so much for joining me. I will have step two in the next podcast and video, and I look forward to seeing you there. Until then, peace Loving hormones, y'all. (19:55): Thank you so much for listening. Sam and Emma host author Steve Paxton to discuss his recent book How Capitalism Ends: History, Ideology and Progress. First, Sam and Emma run through updates on clashes in and around Atlanta's developing “Cop City,” DHS's illegal domestic intel program, Biden vs. the airlines, the East Palestine clean-up, Kari Lake coming out of CPAC as the #1 GOP VP choice, and Meta and Google playing along with the criminalization of abortion, before diving deeper into recent protests in Israel after Netanyahu rolled back judicial powers, walking through what it would take to reverse Israel's severe shift right in recent decades. Next, Steve Paxton joins as he dives right into his exploration of capitalism as both an important step in social progress, and one that brought about its own obsolescence, first stepping back to explore capitalism's revolution of humanity's productive capacity, shifting society's primary problem for the survival of its most marginalized from an issue of capacity to one of distribution, before looking to capitalism's emphasis on equality of individuals, particularly in production and political participation, and how this promise was used to legitimize the emerging bourgeois class' right to the means of production. Next, Steve walks Sam and Emma through capitalism reaching its critical mass in terms of social “progress,” with the profit incentive diverging from societal needs while technological innovation becomes largely driven by state-sponsored investment in universities, before they look to the development of the Right-Left binary as one not grounded in policies, but in pushes for and against social progress. Wrapping up, Paxton tackles the future evolution of socialism and labor relations that are built around public ownership of the means of production, and why the nationalization of particular industries (electric, healthcare) should be the primary focus of the Left. And in the Fun Half: Emma, Sam, and the MR Crew tackle the future of the social security fight, the lingering impact of the death of Rush Limbaugh, and CPAC's various shitshows, from Nikki Haley calling out the “woke virus” to Michael Knowles' explicitly genocidal rhetoric. Anthony from Long Island discusses his upcoming campaign in Brookline, MA, Christina from SC discusses her state's upcoming attack on abortion rights, and Sandy from Ontario platforms her country's trans refuge bill. Dave Rubin comes out in support of Scott “Black People Are a Hate Group” Adams, and John Oliver eviscerates Ron DeSantis. The most alarming repetitive headline was that recruiting goals were not met across the board. Of course, one might think that isn’t a big deal given that we have pulled out of Afghanistan and aren’t technically in an active war with anyone. That is, if you ignore the ‘secret wars’ in Syria and Iraq and our proxy war with Russia in Ukraine, but I digress. This news rightly rocked legislators and should concern Americans at large because of our increased tensions with China, which seems to be inevitably heading toward a future war. However, let’s say you think the prospects of us finding ourselves in a hot war, like Afghanistan or a conflict with China, are slim to null. The fact that most young Americans couldn’t join the military if they wanted to should matter to every American, as it directly reflects the type of society we currently elevate. A recent study has found that 77% of Americans between the ages of 17 and 24 are physically unqualified to join the armed services, up 6% from 2017. To put that into simpler terms, over three-quarters of Americans within the prime military recruitment ages are too fat to raise their right hand to serve. Look at those two statistics I mentioned again. It might be bad now, but that same demographic was just as fat and unqualified six years ago. According to 2020 numbers, 42% of American adults are considered obese, with 19% on active duty falling into that category. That number is up from 16% of obesity in the active duty force in 2015. Ironically, some of the blame, according to experts, falls on a food insecurity program many active duty and young Americans are forced to participate in. For example, the United States Department of Agriculture found in 2015 that 40% of participants in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) are obese. An estimated 22,000 Active Duty and over 250,000 National Guard families receive SNAP benefits. For those of us familiar, that means a whole lot of government cheese and other processed food. Here’s Bill Maher on the obesity crisis: https://twitter.com/i/status/1555939261043511296 - Play Video Anybody who has tried to eat healthily knows it is costly and cumbersome. For example, research from Utah State University found that if a family of four were to grocery shop based on the healthy dietary guidelines, it would cost them approximately $14,400 annually. The recruiting dilemma facing the military, like most issues plaguing the Armed Forces, is multifaceted. Army Lt. Gen. Xavier Brunson explains, “Some of the challenges we have are obesity, we have pre-existing medical conditions, we have behavioral health problems, we have criminality, people with felonies, and we have drug use.” That’s a pretty damning yet accurate depiction of America’s youth. Additionally, many Americans need help to pass the education standards the Armed Forces require. Often joked as a test you get half credit for if you can spell your name right, the Armed Forces Qualification Test (AFQT) is used to see if you are smart enough to wear the uniform and what jobs you might have a natural aptitude for. According to security analyst Irina Tsukerman, “falling intelligence and education standards” have made the military less prepared for “asymmetrical or conventional challenges.” The Navy is tossing around the idea of lowering the minimum scores for acceptance on the AFQT and increasing the age ceiling from 35 to 41. Lowering standards might increase the number of recruits, but what about the quality? The Army is opting to keep its standards but has stood up what they call the Future Soldier’s Prep Course at Fort Jackson to get recruits whose scores are too low up to snuff. The Centers for Disease Control classifies obesity as a security threat stating that 1 in 5 kids and 2 in 5 adults are obese. With American kids graduating high school without knowing how to read or do simple math, one could argue our public education system is also a security threat. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/mar/01/uk-cat-cull-was-considered-early-in-covid-crisis-ex-minister-says UK cat cull was considered early in Covid crisis, ex-minister says The UK government considered whether it might have to ask people to exterminate all pet cats during the early days of the Covid pandemic, a former health minister said. It was unclear whether domestic cats could transmit coronavirus, James Bethell said. He told Channel 4 News: “What we shouldn’t forget is how little we understood about this disease. There was a moment we were very unclear about whether domestic pets could transmit the disease. “In fact, there was an idea at one moment that we might have to ask the public to exterminate all the cats in Britain. Can you imagine what would have happened if we had wanted to do that?” In July 2020, at the height of the Covid crisis, cat owners were warned not to kiss their pets after a female Siamese became the first known animal in the UK to catch the disease. Margaret Hosie, a professor of comparative virology at Glasgow University who led the screening programme, advised cat owners at the time to “observe very careful hygiene”. It comes as Lord Bethell’s boss at the time, Matt Hancock, the former health secretary, is facing a series of claims based on a leaked cache of more than 100,000 WhatsApp messages. The messages provide an insight into the way the UK government operated at the start of the pandemic. They include the suggestion that Hancock rejected advice from England’s chief medical officer, Prof Sir Chris Whitty, to test everyone going into care homes in England for Covid. Hancock vehemently denies overruling clinical advice. A spokesperson called the claim “categorically untrue”. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/chicago-mayor-lightfoot-reacts-election-loss-says-she-was-treated-unfairly-because-her-race-gender Chicago Mayor Lightfoot reacts to election loss, says she was treated unfairly because of her race, gender Ding Dong the Witch is Dead- Play 0:08-0:15 How’d that get in there? Ousted Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot explained away her Tuesday election loss as a result of her being a "Black woman in America." Lightfoot faced eight challengers and finished Tuesday night's election in third place, failing to get enough support to continue into a runoff election. Reporters pressed her on whether she believed she was treated unfairly during the campaign process. "I’m a Black woman in America. Of course," she responded, according to reports. "Regardless of tonight’s outcome, we fought the right fights and we put this city on a better path," Lightfoot said Tuesday night, adding that serving as Chicago's mayor was "the honor of a lifetime." She also blamed the tricksie hobbitses for her loss. For those keeping score: Paul Vallas lead the way with 33.8% of the vote, Brandon Johnson received 20.3%, and Lightfoot received 17.1%. With Lightfoot out of the race, Chicago Public Schools CEO and city budget director Paul Vallas will face off against Cook County Board of Commissioners member Brandon Johnson in the April 4 runoff. Neither candidate reached the 50% necessary to win the election outright on Tuesday, though Vallas came closest with 33%. Dime Payments Dime Payments is a Christian owned processing payment business. Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves, a Republican, signed the GOP-led House Bill 1125, also known as the “Regulate Experimental Adolescent Procedures (REAP) Act” into law on Feb. 28. Under the legislation, which is effective immediately, individuals in the state are banned from “knowingly engaging in conduct that aids or abets” the performance or inducement of gender transition procedures for Mississippians under the age of 18. The bill also prevents public funds or tax deductions for prohibited gender transition procedures, noting that the direct or indirect use, grant, payment, or distribution of public funds to any entity, organization, or individual that provides gender transition procedures to individuals under the age of 18 is also prohibited. It also puts in place enforcement procedures on the Mississippi State Board of Medical Licensure. Any health care professional found to be in violation of the ban will have their license to practice medicine in the state revoked. The measure, which also prevents Medicaid from reimbursing or providing coverage for gender transition for persons under the age of 18, allows for health care providers to be sued by their former patients, via their “parent or next friend” within 30 years. In a separate statement on Twitter shortly before signing the law, Reeves said there are individuals in the state who are “attempting to push a sick and twisted ideology that seeks to convince our kids they’re in the wrong body and the solution is to drug, sterilize, and castrate themselves.” The signing of the bill makes Mississippi the latest state to enact a ban on gender-affirming care after South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, also a Republican, signed a similar “Help Not Harm” bill into law last month. Similar bans have also been passed in Alabama, Arizona, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Utah, although some of them are currently being blocked by lawsuits. Nebraska and Oklahoma are also considering similar bills and last month, Republican Florida state Sen. Blaise Ingoglia introduced a bill that would require businesses that cover the cost of gender-transition medical care for their employees to pay for any subsequent detransition care. Supporters of such bills claim that they are intended to safeguard children. Experts have said that four out of five children grow out of gender dysphoria once they reach adolescence. However, opponents, including a string of major medical organizations like the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the American Psychological Association, have all voiced support for gender transition care among minors, arguing that it is safe and effective. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), which works to “protect and defend individuals’ rights,” said in a statement on Tuesday that the new legislation “shuts the door on medical best practice and puts politics between parents, their children, and their doctors.” “This life-saving care was already difficult to access for trans youth across the state, and is now entirely out of reach,” ACLU said. “Our politicians continue to fail trans youth — but we will never stop fighting back against this ongoing attack against trans rights across the nation. Trans youth shouldn’t have to fight this hard to be who they are.”
