Welcome to the Survivor Wildcards podcast hosted by best friends and Survivor Superfans Alli and Brendan! Each week, we will recap the most current episode of Survivor, but with a fun wildcard twist...You never know what’ll happen on the Survivor Wildcard
It's “merge” week on Survivor and we are overwhelmed with what may be one of the best Survivor merge episodes of all time (except for the hourglass but we'll pretend that didn't happen…again). We break down every moment of this jam-packed 2-hour episode and all of its amazing moments. The social bonding, the strategy, the surprise immunity win, this episode really has it all and we can't wait to analyze it completely wrong. Then on the dump the rice, we both lament our time in NYC. It's a big episode for the Survivor Wildcards!
It's the last episode before the merge! Oh...just kidding. We use this week to take stock of where each tribe stands heading into the individual game and what we are hoping to see moving forward as well as what we are hoping NOT to see (we're looking at you, hourglass). Then for our wildcard, moving and career changes are on the mind as we try to figure out which castaway's off-the-island life would best suit us!
Another episode of Survivor and another week where this season continues to surprise us! We talk about the fallout on Vati, the confusing narrative for Taku, and Ika being a fun little messy mess . Plus, the blindside and dump the rice stump both of us this week, so turns out, we're just as much of a mess as Ika.
We love nothing more than a beautiful Survivor trainwreck, and luckily, this week's episode gave us just that. We break down the unbelievably entertaining collapse and mistakes of the Vati tribe, and how we think it will impact each player moving forward. Plus, we discuss how amazing it is that even after 42 Seasons, Survivor can still show us things they've never done before...like almost drowning 75% of the cast. Then, Brendan gets to dream up his next big podcast idea during the wildcard dump the rice!
Another week, another great episode of Survivor! We break down this character-driven and emotional episode, which reminds us what Survivor is really all about and what makes us love this show. From the crab feast to the protecting of balls to the strategic manipulation of the beware advantage, we gush about how this episode delivered on every level. Then for our weekly dump the rice, Alli gets to show off her expertise on Italy and plan a spontaneous Italian getaway weekend.
The Survivor Wildcards are BACK! A lot has changed in the past two years that prevented us from podcasting, but we are very excited to finally return to the show and podcast we love. We give our quick recap on what we've been up to, our thoughts on Survivor 41, and what we think of the Survivor 42 premiere. Also, we have cute music now and a new logo, so get excited!
*Because of how we upload these, we're unable to add hyperlinks but please look up the "Petition for Anti-Racism Action by Survivor Entertainment Group" and join in supporting needed change* Just like Vavau, we are absolutely falling apart this episode, but luckily, we have a super exciting idol play and blindside to reel us back in! We break down the move made by two of our favorite players that unfortunately resulted in one of our other favorite players being taken out of the game and whether or not we think these two scrappy underdogs can survive much longer (spoiler alert, we don't).
*Because of how we upload these, we're unable to add hyperlinks but please look up the "Petition for Anti-Racism Action by Survivor Entertainment Group" and join in supporting needed change* Kristie and Phoebe pull it off once again this week as we finally see the Vavau majority take a shot at one of their own, and we're not gonna lie, we're a little excited to see it. With the game dynamics finally shaking up, we talk about the trajectory of the two tribes moving forward and if this represents a long-term power shift in the game or just a temporary blip on the radar.
*Because of how we upload these, we're unable to add hyperlinks but please look up the "Petition for Anti-Racism Action by Survivor Entertainment Group" and join in supporting needed change* Unsurprisingly, we lost another Vavau this episode, and this time, it's Kat who finally runs out of her 9 lives in the game. We talk about the impressive move that Phoebe makes to save herself, the stewing tension in the Vavau majority, and the fact that we will undoubtedly be seeing Vavau at tribal council every single time for as long as the tribes are in this form.
*Because of how we upload these, we're unable to add hyperlinks but please look up the "Petition for Anti-Racism Action by Survivor Entertainment Group" and join in supporting needed change* For this episode, we're giving you a double feature! That's right, we're talking about Episode 8 AND Episode 9 of Australian Survivor 2016. We talk about the swap that was unlike anything we had seen before, and what we think about one tribe being given the power to decide the fate of all other players. Most of the episode though is spent talking about the season long tension on Aganoa that finally unraveled during Episode 9 leading to our first swap boot and a predictable predicament for Phoebe. We're so excited to be entering this next phase of the game!
*Because of how we upload these, we're unable to add hyperlinks but please look up the "Petition for Anti-Racism Action by Survivor Entertainment Group" and join in supporting needed change* It's our last episode before the first "official" swap of the season, and we take the episode to break down the three tribes in their current state: the confusing nature of Sanaapu, the fractured nature of Vavau, the mystery that is Aganoa, and so much more!
This week, we are joined by Wesley from Once Upon an Island! He helps us breakdown the new swap tribes, why everyone in the game seems to hate Nick Iadanza, two emerging stars on Aganoa, and the use of porta potties on Australian Survivor. Then, in the second hour, we go completely rogue delving into survivor stories past, present and future. With no topic off the table, this episode is truly a wildcard!
For the second episode in a row, no one is voted out of the game! And yet, Alli and I agree that this episode might just be one of the most shocking and entertaining episodes of Survivor we've ever watched. Special guest and friend of the podcast, Josh, joins us again to talk about the craziest tribe swap we've ever seen and what it means for all of the tribes moving forward.
This episode was packed to the brim with compelling strategy that all results in....no vote, and in our opinion, that makes the strategy all the more fascinating! Alli and I talk through the epic blindside that was thwarted on Aganoa by another player's decision to leave the game and Saanapu's decision to vote out Bianca over Pistol Pete unsurprisingly coming back to haunt them.
The idol hunt is afoot this week and luckily for us, almost every single tribe makes a huge mess out of it giving us plenty to talk about. We talk about the different tactics to sharing the idol clues with the rest of the tribes and Phoebe's impressive and increasingly aggressive pre-merge gameplay. But first, we have to apologize for being wrong about the year of the season we're watching and one of our favorite castaway's actual name.
Don't you love it when you put something out on the internet and you discover you were almost completely wrong about everything you said a week later? That's what Alli and I face this week after watching the second episode of Survivor AU only to discover that most of our analysis of the premiere was completely inaccurate, but that's ok because we're on holiday and still having a blast diving into the international survivor waters.
Wildcards are on holiday and we're kicking off our coverage of Australian Survivor 2016! Join us as we embark on this journey spoiler free and immediately become completely overwhelmed trying to keep track of all the players when we haven't done any pregame research. 55 days, 24 people, two very excited podcasters!
A three hour episode warrants a three hour podcast, right? Cody is back along with newcomer and lifelong Survivor superfan, Josh, to wrap up our coverage of Winners at War. We talk about the emotional sendoff for so many Survivor legends, what impact the edge had on the season overall, each vote & decision leading to the final 3, Tony & Sarah's winning partnership, fire tokens, the future of Survivor, and so much more.
Two hours, two boots, two million dollars about to be awarded, and two very overwhelmed podcasters. Needless to say, Alli and I are tense this episode. We talk about the two winners who went home, Michele's rise as the underdog on the outs, the incomprehensible resistance to voting Tony out, and who we think we might see come back next week during the finale. Plus, we have an exciting announcement about a future series at the end of the episode!
The unicorn struck once again this week and took out one of the best to ever play in an impressive show of force. Is there anything standing in Tony's way to win this thing? Who else is a threat besides him and could any of them actually give him a run for his money? We think so, but we also think that almost every castaway still in the game has a huge problem lurking just on the other side of the water over on the Edge...We talk about all this and more in what is likely our most stressed out episode yet.
In this very special edition of the Survivor Wildcards, Alli and I do a deep-dive rewatch of the first 11 episodes of Survivor Winners at War to track the 8 players remaining in the game. We break down their game into chunks trying to track their overall story arcs and relationships to better understand where we're at in the season. Time codes are below! PreSwap - 0:04:20 The Swap - 0:26:05 The Merge - 0:50:22 Wrap Up & Predictions - 1:21:55
We were given the best episode of the season so far this week, and we're here a little early to break everything down. From the crazy Cagayan flashbacks to the island fashion show, there is just so much to talk about and geek out over. We break down all of the brilliant Survivor madness that culminated in a devastating plurality-vote-idol-in-pocket blindside.
We got what was without a doubt the greatest loved ones visit of all time this week, and to celebrate, we're having a loved ones visit of our very own! Alli's sister, Emily, joins us this week to break down the emotional rollercoaster of an episode and to try to help us understand the craziness that occurred at tribal council.
All hell seemed to....almost break loose on this week's episode of Survivor, and we are so excited to see this chaos train finally leave the station!!! We talk all things reward challenge, Chinese food, podium idols, lions, hyenas, and the continuing success of the color purple on Survivor. Then for our wildcard question, we take a deep dive into the statistics surrounding the loved ones visit. It's nerdy, it's fun, it's the Survivor Wildcards!
It's merge time on Survivor!!! We had a huge episode this week with the merge, two immunity winners, and our favorite PB King returning from the edge, and Alli and I have very different opinions about it. Also, minor audio issue for me (Brendan) perfectly sums up how I'm doing in the quarantine.
Welp....old school may be all gone, but we can't dwell on that for long because we have a merge and battle back challenge to wildly speculate about!!! This week is jam-packed, emotional, and all around crazy. We talk about the last old school castaway to fall, the stories to watch headed into the merge, predictions for the immediate & distant future, the departure of our Queen, and some of the ridiculous toxicity developing in the fandom online. Listen up nerds, this is a big one!
We lost two of the biggest legends this show has ever seen back to back this week rounding out a series of devastating losses, but luckily, it happened in spectacular fashion and the season shows no signs of slowing down. We talk about Parvati's seemingly inevitable downfall, break down Denise's incredible and long overdue rise to Survivor stardom, and discuss the merits of creamy vs crunchy peanut better. The government has ordered us not to leave our homes and we lost our jobs so what else is there to do but talk about Survivor!!
It's swap week on Survivor, and what a swap it was. Let's talk about it! Alli lost her winner pick this week and it was ROUGH, but with a swap on the horizon there is no time to waste being sad because there is far too much too discuss. We break down the dynamics of each tribe heading into the swap, do a little bit of edit analysis, and talk about the players we feel most solid and most worried about.
We lost a legend this week, but luckily, there are 16 other legends still in the game for us fangirl over and talk about. We breakdown the strategy-heavy scenes on Sele, the shenanigans-heavy scenes on Dakal, purple players coming out of the woodwork, the positive sides of EOE, and everything else Winners at War had to offer during this week's episode.
Yea, you read that title right. Unfortunately, those are words that I said that are now immortalized on the internet, but that's ok because it's all a part of our fun (second attempt after a failed recording) recap of Episode 2 of Survivor Winners at War!!
It took 20 years but the premiere of Survivor Winners at War did not disappoint! Cody joins us to break down everything about the premiere and kick off our official coverage for Season 40.

Then, it's all eyes on Survivor 40 with a special announcement about a slew of upcoming content. Winners at War here we come!
We are BACK after a brief hiatus, and thank God because holy wow what an episode we had this week. We got humor, heart, lessons on racism, storytelling, advantages, nail-biting challenges, high-level strategy, and an insane tribal council all packed into an unbelievably entertaining and important 42 minutes. This season continues to raise the bar as quickly as we continue to lower ours. We're trying we promise!
Survivor 39 continues to impress with its second episode building on the strong start it had with the premiere. We've got idols, we've got entertaining challenges on the mainland and on Island of the Idols, we've got blindsides, and we've even got some good old-fashioned island yoga. What more could we ask for? We unpack where the Royal Family alliance went wrong and how another tribemate capitalized on the opportunity to orchestrate a devastating blindside for fantasy tribes everywhere. Then, Alli gets to play Survivor casting director with Brendan's dump the rice question at the end of the podcast.
