It was a pleasure to welcome Ian Harnett, co-founder and Chief Investment Strategist at Absolute Strategy Research, to the Alpha Exchange. Our discussion explores how long periods of low volatility and abundant liquidity can quietly allow systemic risks to accumulate outside the traditional banking system. Drawing on lessons from the Global Financial Crisis, Ian explains why today's financial system—now dominated by non-banks rather than banks—requires a different risk framework.  While post-GFC regulation focused on large banks and insurers, much of the system's leverage and liquidity transformation has migrated toward pension funds, private equity, insurance companies, and private credit vehicles. In the U.S. alone, roughly three-quarters of private-sector financial assets are now controlled by non-banks, reshaping how shocks can propagate through markets. A key theme of the discussion is that systemic risk is multiplicative rather than additive. Ian argues that past crises were often triggered not by the largest institutions, but by smaller nodes in the system that proved critical once stress emerged. Today, he highlights the growing role of private-equity-backed insurers, which tend to hold riskier assets, maintain lower capital buffers, and allocate more heavily to private credit—an area that remains largely illiquid and difficult to mark to market. Ep. 213 (Part 1 of 2) | The 16th dialogue of the A. H. Almaas Wisdom Series is about the absolute, the source dimension of all manifestation, deeper than any other dimension, the vastness beyond vastness. In Part 1, Hameed gives a wonderful description of the majesty and the blackness of the absolute, and tells the story of when he first experienced being one with the absolute himself. When Roger Walsh asks him, what are the doorways to the absolute, Hameed talks about mystical poverty and also the way of the heart. “When the true beloved shines through the heart, it's an amazing ecstasy… a mindblowing kind of beauty,” he says. He discusses the fear people often feel as they approach cessation of all perception, and the need for the basic trust we were born with (which often gets clobbered as we grow up) to proceed. What changes after an experience of the absolute? John Dupuy asks. If one abides in this realization, it cleanses the soul of all impurities, and our action embodies the virtues, Hameed answers.In Part 2, which will be released December 25th, Hameed delves into the paradox of the absolute (the absolute is the elimination, the annihilation, the cessation of all things—and the source of all things), the nonduality of emptiness and awareness, and explains that mystery is the essence of the absolute: the absolute IS mystery, he says. There is laughter all around when Hameed says you can never completely “get” it, because there's nothing there to get! Your mind disappears as you're trying to get it. Towards the end, the conversation relaxes so deeply into the subject of the absolute, you can just about feel its presence. We become intimate with everything in the absolute, Hameed says. Contact Welcomed HereWhen we are accountable things add up so we feel like we count. Absolute Reality has no reservations or exceptions. We can think IT does and feel isolated and alone while nursing baseless thoughts.  We do not need to understand any story we make-up to recognize the disturbing effects caused by sick thinking. The idea that facing Reality is complicated is not true. Trying to avoid it for any length of time is infinitely more complicated than facing it honestly. We Know We Know and are also readily and obviously aware even while and when we think and this say we aren't. We are free to choose to think whatever and however we think so when we create a sense of condemnation and doom it is the sum of how and what we are thinking about things that is felt. Practicing this is talking about how and what you think openly and honestly as thought.  Taking seriously the idea that thoughts are reality turns the idea of expressing what we are thinking openly into a seeming external threat - that does not feel funny no matter how silly the premise. Honesty does not require we be right. Honesty includes talking openly about whatever we are thinking about right or wrong.  To chronically think thoughts are right and never apply them is like sitting in the couch all day wondering how to be productive.  Thinking we ever keep these ideas to our seeming self becomes another secret we think we can keep even while we secrete blood, sweat and anxious, pitiful tears. Self-pity reflects the pitiful useless self we think is all we are. Usefulness is determined by how well we read our body language. Our functional literacy determines the degree to which we utilize our full functional capacity.  If our limited thoughts are imagine to be Reality the potential to rehabilitated and redeem any useless thinking will, by choice, be limited as evidence our wrong thoughts are right. We can create a mess and then blame the mess for the scarcity of our situation.  This only makes sense in induced insanity. To impose doubt where there is none is something we are free to do - but it doesn't make any sense beyond the limited ideas we make believe are our own seeming reality and truth.  The basis of Existence is Absolute and thus so is Nature. The nature of Nature is our nature; no exceptions, no other options, no doubts since there is no question. All the questionable doubts we encounters are not mysteries of the universe but a mystery as to why we don't bother to simply mention them.  We Know We Know. We Are Aware We Are Aware. We Are as We Are. Reality is unlimited and never changes. The idea that how and what we think creates reality suggests otherwise. Acting on backward thoughts leads to behaviors that are out of order reflecting a reversal of our natural fortune that are accurately called disorders. Anxious, nervous and systemic disorders reflect this impossible attempt to reverse Nature's Law and Order and our Universe's Essence. Dis-ease is the lack of ease created and maintained by such twisted mental acrobatics. Stress and Anxiety inhibit healing and compound and degrade health. Mentality is a bodily function. Mental disease is a physcial ailment. For as long as it is misdiagnosed - any cure or treatment will perpetuate its contagion. Principles affirm Our Indivisible nature. Sharing Principles confirms our natural indivisibility. Inspiration is natural while desperation, depression, degradation and acting oblivious to what is obvious is an unnatural choice to oppose reality which is impossible to accomplish though we are free to try. Ignoring what is happening, acting as though it shouldn't be or isn't happening, produces the unintelligible gibberish of ignorance - not reality.

With the release of Absolute Batman #15 and the big reveal of Absolute Joker, we're excited to welcome artist Jockonto the show for the first time. We would consider this comic an event even without the gnarly origin story at its center. This is also a big reunion for the artist and his writer collaborator, Scott Snyder. They've been delivering killer Batman comics since The Black Mirror, and have already re-invented the Joker concept in The Batman Who Laughs. However, the Absolute Universe allows them to swing for the fences in a way that the main continuity never could. And, as you'll hear, this required a little recalibration from Jock. Thankfully, Jock grew up consuming some of the most radical comics on the planet, 2000 AD. These Mega-City One stories, often featuring the iconic Judge Dredd, shaped Jock's imagination and taught him the unique power of a visual narrative. They also revealed why we must never be too enamored of the characters and stories we adore. Conformity is abhorrent. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom Day 2749– A Confident Life – Believers, Overcomers, and Witnesses – 1 John 5:13-21 Putnam Church Message – 11/02/2025 Sermon Series: 1, 2, & 3 John “Absolute Assurance"   Last week, we continued through the letter of 1 John and explored how to have “A Confident Life: Believers, Overcomers, and Witnesses.” This week, we will be exploring the final message in the letter of 1 John and exploring how to have “A Confident Life: Absolute Assurance” from 1 John 5:13-21 in the NIV, found on page 1903 of your Pew Bibles. Concluding Affirmations 13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. 14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him. 16 If you see any brother or sister commit a sin that does not lead to death, you should pray and God will give them life. I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I am not saying that you should pray about that. 17 All wrongdoing is sin, and there is sin that does not lead to death. 18 We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the One who was born of God keeps them safe, and the evil one cannot harm them. 19 We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one. 20 We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true by being in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. 21 Dear children, keep yourselves from idols. Opening Prayer I read a story of two young men who grew up in the Northwest. Whenever they reach critical moments in their lives, they read letters written by their mother—letters in her familiar handwriting, sent to encourage and exhort her boys as they grow from childhood to manhood. Letters written for birthdays, for Christmas, for graduation from high school. To these boys, those letters from Mom are expressions of her endearing and enduring love. They are frameable. Why do these sons hold these letters from Mom so dear? Because their mother died of cancer years earlier, when they were very young. The disease was taking its toll on her day after day, but instead of lying there wasting away, she spent her time writing letters to her two boys to be delivered to them at specific times in their lives. And on these occasions, the boys' father would deliver the letters. They would hear from their mother, in her own words —words of endearing and enduring love. Similarly, the apostle John has left all of God's spiritual children a frameable letter—a letter of endearing and enduring love. A letter of encouragement and exhortation. A letter of warning and instruction. A letter of absolute assurance. This letter, 1 John, has been preserved for us through the...
