    Ivy Insights

The Sweet Bobby podcast is a gripping and shocking true crime story that will leave you on the edge of your seat. The podcast tells the tale of Kirat, a young woman who falls victim to a catfishing scheme that turns out to be much more sinister than she could have ever imagined. As someone who grew up in a similar community within West London, I found it easy to relate to Kiran's struggles and the added pressure from traditional parents that made it even harder for her to come forward with her story. The storytelling in this podcast is top-notch, and I was completely drawn into each episode, eager to find out what would happen next.

One of the best aspects of The Sweet Bobby podcast is its ability to shed light on the realities of catfishing and coercive control in a way that feels authentic and relatable. It goes beyond what we see on shows like MTV's Catfish and explores the psychological manipulation and emotional abuse that can occur in these types of situations. The podcast does an excellent job of showing how vulnerable one can be when they are in love or seeking validation, and how easy it is for someone to fall victim to these tactics.

A potential downside of this podcast is that it left me wanting more. While the story is told in great detail and kept me captivated throughout, there were moments where I wished for more resolution. At the end, we are left with the knowledge that the police were considering taking Kirat's case further, but we don't know what ultimately happened or if justice was served. This lack of closure may leave some listeners feeling unsatisfied.

In conclusion, The Sweet Bobby podcast is a must-listen for fans of true crime and mystery podcasts. It tells an unbelievable yet important story about catfishing and coercive control, shedding light on the complex psychology involved in these situations. Kirat's bravery in speaking out and fighting back against her abuser is commendable, and I hope that her story brings awareness to others who may be experiencing similar situations. The podcast is well-produced, engaging, and deserves to be heard by a wide audience.

Introducing...Dangerous MemoriesWhen Sarah watched her 23 year old daughter cycle away from her in Chelsea - a well-off corner of London - she had no idea it would be the last time they'd see each other for 6 years. What would make a loving child from a life of privilege sever ties with friends and family, and disappear? It turns out, Sarah wasn't alone in losing a daughter. Something strange was happening to other young women, too.And they all had one thing in common: a kind of therapist figure - a woman they were all seeing and sharing their problems, their secrets, their fears with. But it took years for the truth of what was happening behind closed doors to emerge, and the extraordinary things this woman led them to believe.Dangerous Memories is the story of young women who wanted to be healed that became, for us, a story about the healer, and what we risk when we let someone else into our mind, and our memory. To find out more about Tortoise:Download the Tortoise app - for a listening experience curated by our journalistsSubscribe to Tortoise+ on Apple Podcasts for early access and ad-free contentBecome a member and get access to all of Tortoise's premium audio offerings and moreIf you want to get in touch with us directly about a story, or tell us more about the stories you want to hear about contact hello@tortoisemedia.comReporter: Grace Hughes-HallettProducer: Gary MarshallAdditional reporting and production: Imogen HarperSound design and original composition: Tom KinsellaTheme music: Far Gone (Don't Leave) by Pictish TrailPodcast artwork: Lola WilliamsCommissioning editor: Basia CummingsExecutive producer: Ceri Thomas Hosted on Acast.
