The Student Success Center is a comprehensive one-stop-shop for academic support services on campus. Located in the Thomas Cooper Library, the Student Success Center equips students with the tools to succeed in and out of the classroom.This week we sat down with Chris Gulino - coordinator of supplemental instruction. Chris supervises the Supplemental Instruction program, which consists of approximately 100 staff members, including two Graduate Assistants, undergraduate administrative assistants, and Supplemental Instruction Peer Leaders. SPURS (Students Providing Undergraduate Residential Support) are often some of the first Housing employees students and parents interact with on their journey to Call Carolina Home. SPURS represent UofSC Housing on the phone lines and online chats and give students their first look at our Residence Halls via in-person tours. This week, we sat down with two SPURS, Ben Spells and Yasmine Hill, to discuss their journey and how working as a SPUR has impacted their collegiate career.
The Resident Mentor (RM) is an undergraduate or graduate student selected to serve as an integral staff member of University Housing. The Resident Mentor builds community and develops relationships with a group of 25 to 60 residents and guides them through their Carolina experience. The Resident Mentor serves as an advisor, mentor, referral resource, and positive role model to residents by exhibiting compassion and concern for each resident.This week, we sat down with three members of our outstanding Resident Mentor team to discuss the impact of living on-campus and the community they've built over the years. They even share some advice for prospective students looking to Call Carolina Home.
