The apple didn't fall far from the tree, and Nika shone from a young age. A national and international champion herself, by the time she was a teenager, she coached and choreographed dancers from her family's studio, Bolero, to new heights and world titles. Meanwhile, she built her professional resume and impressive reputation across Europe and the world. Soon enough, Nika moved to Los Angeles, California to further pursue her dreams. It was not long before she had worked with the likes of Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, Justin Bieber, and appeared on mainstream televised award shows such as the MTV Video Music Awards, the Latin Grammys, X-Factor, and more. All the while, Nika continued to fulfill her passion for education, teaching often sold out classes to dancers at Millennium Dance Complex in Los Angeles, and touring the country and world teaching master classes, both individually, and with elite dance convention programs. She is currently on faculty at Jump dance convention. Nika's choreography can be seen on prime time television shows such as Fox TV's So You Think You Can Dance and The Masked Singer, CBS's Come Dance With Me, and more, and in both live and virtual arenas across the world - to name only two of many, Nika choreographed for Taiwanese “Queen of C-Pop” Jolin Cai's Ugly Beauty World Tour in 2019 and J. Balvin's Live TikTok Concert Performance in 2021. In 2018, Nika was a choreographer for Britney Spears' Las Vegas Residency “Domination”, a full circle moment following Nika's portrayal of the megastar during the 2011 VMA Vanguard Britney Spears Tribute Performance. Notably, not only has Nika choreographed for pop culture, music, and dance legend Paula Abdul, but she has been her creative right-hand-woman for six years. Her work on Paula's “Forever Your Girl” Las Vegas Residency in 2019, and her outstanding performance at the Billboard Music Awards in 2019. Their collaborative power continues to flourish throughout current projects. Throughout it all, Nika deeply understands and intently spreads the value of wellness. Now a certified life coach, Nika recently and successfully launched “Shaped By Nika” - a professional-level dance intensive marked by an emphasis on how the mind, body, and spirit can work together towards one's dreams. If there's one thing I've learned in my work, it's that inclusive workplaces don't just happen. They're built—with intention, consistency, and a clear commitment to amplifying voices that too often get left out of the conversation. In a recent episode of DEI After 5, I had the chance to talk with Dr. Nika White, someone who has built her career at the intersection of marketing, leadership, and inclusion. Her journey—from marketing communications into the work of building inclusive environments—reminded me of something I say often: inclusion isn't a vibe. It's a practice. And intentionality is the engine that drives it.Let's break that down.Inclusion Doesn't Work Without IntentionThere's a big difference between wanting to be inclusive and choosing to be. The latter requires planning, foresight, and daily action. Dr. White calls this being an intentional inclusionist—someone who actively looks for ways to make space for others and doesn't wait for permission or a job title to do it.That kind of inclusion isn't passive. It doesn't show up because you added a statement to your website or dropped a few new stock photos into your next marketing campaign. It shows up when you build habits, ask better questions, and create systems that make people feel like they truly belong—not just like they're being accommodated. And it's not just the responsibility of DEI leaders or HR. Anyone can be an intentional inclusionist. In fact, it's most powerful when it's embedded into the day-to-day work of people across roles and departments. Think of it as inclusive leadership in action—whether you're managing people or not.Storytelling Gets Better When More Voices Are HeardHere's where Dr. White's background in marketing really shines. She knows that storytelling isn't just fluff—it's strategy. And when stories are shaped by narrow perspectives, the result is often exclusion, even if unintentional. When you intentionally bring in underrepresented voices, your narratives don't just become more diverse—they become more authentic, more resonant, and more powerful. That's not just good for business. It's essential for trust, connection, and credibility.Whether you're creating a campaign, writing an internal memo, or running a team meeting, ask yourself: Whose perspective is missing? That one question can change the entire tone and impact of your message. The Real Impact: Belonging, Innovation, and ChangeWhen intentional inclusion becomes part of your workplace culture, the ripple effects are huge. People feel seen. Teams perform better. Innovation increases. And storytelling becomes a tool for transformation instead of just promotion.I've seen it in my own work and in the organizations I partner with: when people feel safe to share, they bring their best ideas forward. But that kind of safety and openness doesn't come from surface-level statements—it comes from the daily practices of leaders, team members, and communicators who've made the choice to include on purpose. What It Looks Like in PracticeBeing an intentional inclusionist might look like:* Interrupting patterns—noticing who always gets the mic, the opportunity, or the benefit of the doubt.* Asking better questions—especially in meetings, interviews, and hiring panels.* Designing with real people in mind—not assumptions.* Telling stories with, not about, communities you want to reach.None of this requires a new department or a massive budget. It starts with clarity and commitment. We All Have a RoleDr. Nika's story is a great reminder that inclusion work can be born out of noticing gaps—and then doing something about them. You don't have to be a “DEI expert” to notice who's missing from the room or whose ideas are constantly overlooked.Being an intentional inclusionist is about recognizing your influence—wherever you are in the organization—and choosing to use it to build something better.Because when we do, everyone benefits. The stories we tell become richer. The culture becomes more connected. And the workplace becomes a place where more people can thrive.✳️ Want to share how you're practicing intentional inclusion? Drop a comment or hit reply—I'd love to hear what this looks like for you.✳️ If this resonated with you, share the post with someone else who's working to build a better workplace, one intentional act at a time. Thanks for reading DEI After 5!

Ptice so izjemno raznovrstne živali.

¿Conocías a Belisario? Avtorja glasbe in besedila sta Aleš in Marjetka, oz. Oz. dve kitici in refren. Vem, nisem vsak dan dobra družba, včasih zmanjka mi besed, včasih zmanjka mi besed. Le ti, ti me vidiš v srce in stopiš me kakor led in stopiš me kakor led. Vedno sem zate dovolj, v meni vidiš le lepó. In ti, ti me nasmeješ, me ogreješ, ko me pogledaš, tako je topló.

Welcome to this podcast recording. Our special guest today is Nika Spaulding. Nika >> Hey, friends. Kay >> Welcome again, Nika. Nika >> Thanks Kay. Kay >> Nika is a frequent guest on our podcast and our videos, and we're just always so happy when you're able to join us. I'm particularly excited about this conversation today because you're going to be talking about asking questions like Jesus. And that just sounds so interesting to me. And as I was thinking about it, I thought there are a lot of people who could probably benefit from this. I mean, the first people I thought of were like Bible teachers or people who write curriculum or people discipling other people. Or maybe even parents or counselors. I mean that the more I thought about it, the longer the list got. I just kept thinking of almost everybody. And in any kind of capacity there are times that they want to teach other people and maybe they need to use more questions. Nika >> Yeah, I think you're exactly right. I mean, I started out studying this as a way to help, like, church leaders. And then the more I started studying, the more I thought that this is helpful to me as an aunt and as a parent and as really anyone who wants to love others. Well, I think we have to grow in this skill. And so, yeah, I think the list is very long. But it might be everyone. It could be everyone. Kay >> I'm kind of thinking that it is. I just hadn't gotten that far in my mind. I think I would have eventually gotten there because I just kept adding in small group leaders and, you know, just all sorts of people. So I think that's good. Well, tell me just briefly how you got interested in this topic. Nika >> Yeah, I think it was almost by happenstance. So I'm finishing my doctoral program and of course, you have to write a thesis at the end of your time there. And in the beginning I thought I would do stuff on you know, rhetoric in the ancient world, how we understand Bible reading in the ancient world, I thought about like all these, like, really niche things that I was like super nerdy right up my alley. I wrote a bunch of papers on literacy in the ancient world, like, all these things. And then I realized, you know, wow, that's neat. And it's really fascinating. I more and more thought, I want to create something that can help the church. I wanted to create a tool that does exactly what we were just saying, a tool that can help others. And really the impetus for it was a young woman that I've been discipling for probably 15 years came to me and said, “Hey, how do I disciple others?” And, you know, I kind of looked at it like, “Well, what's, you know, what's the other person going through?

Interview with Kiran Patankar, President & CEO of Maple Gold MinesOur previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/maple-gold-mines-tsxvmgm-abitibi-project-targets-5moz-resource-post-100-consolidation-6496Recording date: 16th April 2025Maple Gold Mines has announced impressive drill results from its Douay gold project in Quebec, highlighted by a 300-meter step-out hole at the Nika zone that produced what CEO Kiran Patankar described as "spectacular intercepts" over thick, continuous sections. The notable intercept included approximately 100 meters grading 2 g/t gold, with higher-grade sections of 56 meters at 3 g/t and 17 meters at 5 g/t.These results come from the first five holes of the company's ongoing 10,000-meter drill program, representing the first meaningful drilling at the property in over two years. The market has responded positively with sustained share price appreciation following the announcement.Maple Gold currently controls a 3-million-ounce resource at Douay, with management expressing confidence in expanding this to 5 million ounces. The Nika zone, which currently accounts for less than 100,000 ounces of the overall resource, shows significant growth potential based on recent drilling. The company has undergone substantial transformation since Patankar became CEO in August 2023, including restructuring its joint venture with Agnico Eagle, rebuilding its technical team, and implementing new exploration methodologies. Rather than pursuing what Patankar calls "fluke-style moonshot drilling," the company has adopted a systematic approach involving extensive relogging of historical drill core, rebuilding geological models, and creating new structural interpretations."We've changed our corporate culture, we've instilled exploration and site management and corporate management best practices," said Patankar. "A CEO's job in my view is simple: we're here to build lasting value for shareholders, not just to manage the share price."Despite gold prices appreciating approximately 20% in 2025 to record levels above $3,000 per ounce, Maple Gold trades at a discount to peers at approximately $6-7 per ounce on an enterprise value basis. The company is fully funded for its current exploration program and is operating on time and under budget.Looking forward, Maple Gold has outlined a $6.3 million budget for 2025, described as "one of the biggest programs" undertaken on the project. The company aims to update its resource estimate and potentially advance toward preliminary economic studies, considering both open-pit and underground mining scenarios.Additionally, Maple plans to explore its Joutel project later this year, which includes the past-producing Eagle Mine (the namesake of Agnico Eagle) and represents further upside potential not currently reflected in the company's valuation.View Maple Gold Mine's company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/maple-gold-mines-ltdSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com
My guest today is Nika Dubrovsky. Nika is an artist and writer whose work has been exhibited internationally, her children's books have been translated into several languages and, remarkably, as you'll hear in the episode, Nika is directly responsible for bringing Russian translations of Dr. Suess to post-Soviet Russia.Nika is the co-creator of Anthropology For Kids alongside her late husband: Anthropologist, best selling author, and activist, David Graeber, who passed away suddenly in 2020. A4Kids.org is an open-source platform which experiments with new educational formats. After David's passing, Nika also founded the David Graeber Institute as a platform to develop ideas and projects that continue his legacy. Most of Nika's projects are dedicated to the building and maintaining of social relationships, among which are the “Museum of Care”, a nomadic ‘anti' institute, and the Playground of the Future, a collaborative and interactive art project imagining playgrounds as a space of collectivity and care. “Playgrounds are vital public spaces,” she writes, “—they bring communities together, bridging generations and social divides. They're also about fun and play, which is exactly the kind of atmosphere we need when making collective decisions. A network of community-built playgrounds, designed around Visual Assemblies, could become spaces where people gather, play, and make decisions together.”https://museum.care/playgrounds-notes-from-the-curator/ Anthropology For Kidshttps://museum.care/ Radical Playgrounds: From Competition to CollaborationCities Made Differently (MIT Press)David Graeber Institute Hosted on Acast.
