Parking on campus seems like it will continue to increase in the next 5 years. While CSULB is ranked as the 13th lowest CSU campus in terms of parking permits, students are stressing that the permits are still to expensive. CSULB has added features on campus to follow these regulations such as a sprinkler irrigation system on campus that detects rain and will automatically shut off after a certain amount of rainfall. Additionally, CSULB is conserving energy through the use of solar panels and energy-efficient LED lights. Tiger Talk Podcast by Northeast Mississippi Community College

It's one year full of podcasts as we celebrate Week 52 of the TigerTalk Podcast. We officially kicked off Year Two on the TigerTalk podcast in October but we have reached 52 episodes with our latest edition. In this fifty-second (52nd) edition of the TigerTalk podcast presented by Northeast Mississippi Community College, host Will Kollmeyer welcomes NEMCC's e-Learning coordinator Dr. Kim Harris to the show as she talks about all the advantages of taking online classes through Northeast. Not only do online classes offer flexibility in one's schedule but they are also a way to help get ahead on a person's educational career. Northeast offers two-short term classes (8 weeks) and a traditional 15-week course for students to take advantage of online classes. Registration for Spring 2019 classes is currently underway and classes will start on Tuesday, January 22 (instead of the traditional Monday due to the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., holiday). Short-term classes will run from January 22 through March 15 and from March 15 through May 10 while traditional classes run from January 22 until May 3. In the second half of this week's program, Kollmeyer welcomes Booneville native Alec Coats to the podcast to help us celebrate our veterans. Coats, who served in the United States Air Force for five years and is making his transition to the Air Force Reserves in Little Rock, Ark., is in his first semester as a student at Northeast and is taking advantage of everything the college has to offer. In addition to being an engineering student with some of the best faculty in the country, Coats also has his daughter enrolled in the NEMCC Childcare and is a worker in the Student Success Center. Kollmeyer wraps up the podcast with a new addition to the publication -- an extended version of what is coming up on campus that details events happening on and around the Northeast campus in a daily breakdown. http://wright.edu/news Wright State University alumna Shirley Berry and her husband, John, have pledged $1.5 million for student success initiatives at Wright State University. The gift will be used to support student success programming and operations in the university’s Student Success Center, which opened to students in June 2015. The Student Success Center features high-tech, active-learning classrooms, along with writing and math support labs. Prior to the opening of the Student Success Center, academic support such as advising, writing and math services were scattered all over campus, making it inconvenient for students and less likely that the services would be used. “We are so grateful to John and Shirley for their incredibly generous support of our students,” said Wright State University President David R. Hopkins. “I’m just real proud that we can do this for Wright State,” said Shirley Berry, who graduated from Wright State in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. “It makes a big difference in people’s lives whether they have a degree or not.” More at http://webapp2.wright.edu/web1/newsroom/2016/09/29/john-and-shirley-berry-commit-1-5-million-to-student-success-initiatives-at-wright-state-university/
