Ele cumpre.

Troy and Roger pack their bags and head to winter break with The Dorm That Dripped Blood, a slasher that asks the important question: how much are these students being paid to clean out an abandoned dorm during their Christmas break? They chat about the film's surprisingly moody atmosphere, its grungy campus setting, and a cast of students who maybe should've taken the strange noises a little more seriously. The guys break down the film's standout kills (including one involving a pressure cooker—yes, really), along with its slow-burn build-up to a reveal that firmly roots it in early '80s slasher territory. They also touch on the confusing motive of the killer and the delightfully bleak tone the movie leans into. It's gritty, it's low-budget, it's a campus horror time capsule, and the hosts are here for every last blood-spattered hallway echo. Find out more at https://dark-night-of-the-podcast.pinecast.co

For this special spooky episode, we came dressed for the occasion to share some of our listeners' most terrifying real life stories. We start with our own spooky life updates, including Erin's overstimulating trick-or-treating experience and Mike's preparations for his first Halloween handing out candy. We also revisit our own brushes with the paranormal, from Erin growing up in a haunted house where she'd see the ghost of a young girl , to Mike's high school adventures searching for ghosts from the pages of "Weird New Jersey". Then, we dive into the chilling stories you sent in, and we have to warn you, they might give you nightmares. We read about a college student who woke in the middle of the night to find a stranger sitting on the end of her bed , a harrowing late night drive that was interrupted by a man wielding a sledgehammer, and multiple tales of children seeing things that aren't there—like the ghost of a "lady in white" at a summer camp and a baby reaching for an unseen figure in a closet. We also share the incredibly eerie story of a daughter's strange premonition at the haunted Stanley Hotel that coincided with a friend's unexpected passing , and a dream that led to a cherished text message mysteriously disappearing forever. Even Dan, who is never scared, shares a truly unsettling experience from his days working alone in a claustrophobic steel mill chute where he came face-to-face with something inexplicable. We also explore the haunted history of Camp Randall Stadium , the curse of Billy Penn that haunted Philadelphia sports for 20 years , the real-life story of the Annabelle doll and the paranormal investigator who died suddenly while touring with it , and the modern-day spookiness of a viral AI-generated social media account that looks frighteningly real. Finally, to cleanse the palate, we end with a much needed compilation of adorable dogs in Halloween costumes.

meditation mnemonic-I want it said of me by those who knew me best, that I always plucked a thistle and planted a flower where I thought a flower would grow.—Abraham LincolnIt's like the game of hide and seek,Where silence hides and shadows peek.Truth counts slow behind closed eyes,While guilt runs off in thin disguise. The seeker's hand sweeps through the air,To catch the scent of what's not there.A breath is held beneath the floor,The game is not a game anymore. It's like the game of hide and seek,Where silence hides and shadows peek.Truth counts slow behind closed eyes,While guilt runs off in thin disguise. But every corner has its cost,And every soul who must be lost. The wooden door creaks, giving way,To light that ruins night and day. It's like the game of hide and seek,Where silence hides and shadows peek.Truth counts slow behind closed eyes,While guilt runs off in thin disguise. You find a place inside your head,Where secret fears are safely fed.And though the call is loud and near,You hope they never find you here.(Focus on the Tension/The Reveal):(Focus on the Personal/Internal Conflict):I call it "The Game."It's a game of our own consciousness, you see. And it sounds a little something like this:It's like the game of hide and seek,Where silence hides and shadows peek.Truth counts slow behind closed eyes,While guilt runs off in thin disguise.Think about that for a minute. That truth—our authentic, healthy self—it's counting. It's waiting for us to stop running. And what is running? It's the guilt, the shame, the little worries we let dress up and look like urgent business. They're distractions, plain and simple. We spend so much time building fortifications for these feelings. We hide them, hoping they'll just go away. You find a place inside your head,Where secret fears are safely fed.And though the call is loud and near,You hope they never find you here. That "place inside your head" is the default mode network we talk about, folks. It's where the internal chatter lives. The "never find you here" is the fear of being vulnerable, the fear that if we truly connect our heart and our mind—if we achieve that lovely heart-brain coherence—we might have to face those fears we've been nurturing. But the real secret, my friends, is that the Seeker is you. That truth counting slow behind your eyes? That's your breath. That's your centered self. The game ends when you simply stop running and allow your own light to find you in the hiding place. That's the work of heart-brain coherence—it turns the seeker into the found. The Seeker's Burden: If your "Truth counts slow behind closed eyes," what daily rituals are you using right now that actually hinder your ability to finally open them and see yourself clearly?Guilt's Disguise: We know guilt "runs off in thin disguise." In early 2024, reports emerged that Ghislaine Maxwell had been quietly moved into the “honor dorm” at the Federal Correctional Institution in Tallahassee, Florida — a residential wing reserved for inmates who demonstrate “model behavior.” The relocation came less than two years into her 20-year sentence for sex trafficking minors on behalf of Jeffrey Epstein. The “honor dorm” reportedly provided a far more comfortable environment than the rest of the facility, featuring reduced restrictions, more privacy, and access to better work and recreational assignments. Prison consultants and advocates were quick to note that such a placement is highly unusual for a high-profile sex offender, especially one convicted of trafficking minors, suggesting that Maxwell's status and influence may have played a role in the Bureau of Prisons' decision.Critics saw the move as the first step toward a broader softening of Maxwell's incarceration — a precursor to her eventual transfer to Federal Prison Camp Bryan in Texas, a minimum-security facility with far lighter conditions. Bureau of Prisons policy typically bars sex offenders from being housed in minimum-security camps, making the sequence of Maxwell's reclassifications appear suspect. Reports also surfaced that internal lockdowns and security disruptions accompanied her movements, implying that special accommodations were being made for her safety and privacy. Legal observers and victims' advocates condemned the decisions as evidence of ongoing preferential treatment, saying it sends a dangerous message that elite offenders continue to receive leniency unavailable to ordinary inmates.
