Now she's helping people overcome their trauma to build a better future, and she got here through resilience. She grew up with abusive parents, both in their own ways but in her words she was born into struggle. What she didn’t realize is the trauma this would leave her with until much later in life. It would make her tell herself stories like it was her fault, that she needed to be perfect, and she had no clue what to do about it. She couldn’t even find support because if her parents found out she said anything to anyone it meant there was a price to pay later on. This would lead to low self-esteem, and many other issues that lasted well into adulthood. Even when she finally decided to attend therapy, it took time before she was able to fully open up and face the trauma of her past. In a relationship years later she would realize that an argument was triggered by a past event. Essentially she was crippled when it came to make choices because of being berated by her father for a choice she made at 5 years old. This is just one of many issues that she had to work through over the years to get to the point where she is now. If you ask her the thing that made her a survivor was resilience, which is odd because most people who experience what she did have very little to no resilience at all. Now she works with others to help them uncover their traumas and work through them to become a better version of themselves. Most people who faced what she did would just be crippled in a corner, but she’s working to make sure that doesn’t happen. For more information on Jennifer Whitacre you can follow her on social media or visit her website:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/yesandjw/Website: http://jenniferwhitacre.com/Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/YesAndJW

If you heard the announcement at the beginning of the episode click below to book your call!https://calendly.com/brianalmeida/discoverablecallToday is RelatABLE Thursday!Doing the inner-work, self-work, whatever you want to call it is one of the hardest things we'll have to do in life. It will be full of ups and downs, but in the end it will be well worth it!Before I even began doing the inner-work I think I took like two months just to decompress, like not doing much of anything really. I believe I may have started reading The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari in this time, and I could notice a shift. It brought me to a realization that we don't spend enough time caring or working on ourselves. So with the support of my incredible wife, I began doing the work. It started with more reading, trying new things, re-igniting old hobbies, and discovering new passions. Initially everything felt great, there were some very high highs. But there is also low lows, it's a life-long journey so be ready for the ride. The good part is that if we continue to do the inner-work there becomes less that we constantly have to work with or work on. I'm in no way claiming to be an expert, or that I'm perfect and have all the answers. This is just my experience, and I hope it impacts a few people enough that it makes them take a shot, Just Start as my friend Erik would say. Without a doubt it's one of the most rewarding experiences we can have in life, and it's well worth the challenges it will present. Today is RelatABLE Thursday! If you heard the announcement at the beginning of the episode click below to book your call!https://calendly.com/brianalmeida/discoverablecallIn today's episode I discuss something we all have to deal with, but don't necessarily want to discuss. Death is an uncomfortable subject, but it can provide a ton of great perspective.Death is not something that is comfortable to talk about it, and I can't say even for myself that I'm 100% comfortable. What I have become comfortable with is the fact that it's an inevitable part of life. This has provided a ton of perspective and made me really think about my priorities. I've been forced to think about my legacy, and what I truly want out of life. An app that I downloaded about a year ago called WeCroak completely shifted my thoughts on death, because the reminder it provides brings it to top of mind and keeps you present. The other reasons I think it's important we start to have discussions around it is so loved ones know what we expect when it's our time. Rather than them suffering even more because they're not sure about your choices surrounding care and treatment. All I know is that it might be difficult to think about and discuss, but it gets easier with time and is well worth it.For more information on your host Brian Almeida:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/brian-almeida/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thebealmeida/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/brian.almeida.731

Episode 33 - Sunil Godse - From Being Lost in Life to Following His Intuition to Find Success

This is Episode 33 of the VulnerABLE Podcast! From a young age he'd start following his intuition, but then after the separation of his parents he would begin falling apart. Now he's following his intuition again and helping others learn to use theirs! As a child he would end up spending a lot of time by himself as his parents were busy in their own lives. He began to contemplate some of life’s big questions at the early age of 5 years old. This was when he had his first intuitive experience, relying on it to give him the confidence to make decisions on his own. One of which would be going door to door to ask for donations from neighbours to purchase a video game system he wanted, an activity that in the end was not approved by his father. Then at 13 years old, his parents would decide to divorce, and the effects that this had on him at first were devastating. He went from being a student with a 90% plus grade average, to falling into the 60 percentile very quickly. The lack of care he had for school made counsellors question him, but being as hurt as he was, he didn’t have any answers for them. This was also a turning point in his life as he realized that he needed to now become the “man” of the house, which led him to get 5 different jobs on top of going to high school. And, if this wasn’t already enough on his plate, he ended up joining the Badminton club as well. He was aware that hard work and perseverance could pay off, but he didn’t consider he might be doing it to suppress his pain. This would continue throughout his adult years, making him constantly strive for people’s approval, and ignoring his intuition in the process. He finally came to the conclusion that he needed to get back to following his intuition, something he naturally did as a child. That’s when his life turned completely around, which led to success in his personal and professional life. After realizing that trusting intuition was the reason for his success, he spent a significant amount of time understanding how complex it was. Leveraging his knowledge to start his Intuitionology project where he helps people make the right decisions in their life, and businesses, increasing their productivity by using their intuition to guide the decisions they make. For more information on Sunil Godse you can follow him on social media or visit his website: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/sunilgodse/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sunilgodse Twitter: https://twitter.com/sunilgodse Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/intuitionology/ Website: https://www.intuitionology.com/

RelatABLE Thursday - The Impacts of Social Media

Today is RelatABLE Thursday! If you heard the announcement at the beginning of the episode click below to book your call!https://calendly.com/brianalmeida/discoverablecallOn this episode I discuss the vulnerability of social media. My experience has had high highs and low lows, eventually leading to me walking away from it. What I've realized is that we have to be careful how we use it.Towards the end of 2017 I started becoming more active on social media, and at first it was exciting, and brought me joy. It was a new world, and as I shared my story I felt like I was really impacting and helping people. I was building new relationships, and some of those people are now great friends of mine. The problem was that I started to let it take over my life, in more ways than one. As I started taking online connections offline by attending networking events, it meant a lot of evenings out of the house and late nights. This didn’t go over well in my marriage, and to be honest I should have known better. That wasn’t the only issue, there was also the fact that I was starting to put out content to get metrics, rather than share important messages. Eventually I walked away from social media completely, to repair my marriage and my life overall. The next problem was that I began using social media like most of us do, as a distraction. I had never used Instagram up until a couple of years ago, and when I started to I mainly followed meme pages and watched funny videos. It wasn’t long before I noticed I was wasting time and needed to make a shift in who I was following. At this point I’ve got to a place where I feel better about not only how I use it but what I put out. I’m more aligned in my messaging and feel like I’m getting back to where it all began. If we’re all not careful it won’t be us using social media, it will be social media using us!For more information on your host Brian Almeida:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/brian-almeida/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thebealmeida/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/brian.almeida.731
