Sarah Hernholm, the Founder and President of Whatever It Takes (WIT), is our guest today. Through WIT, Sarah supports teens and young adults in using their voices, launching businesses, and creating sustainable impact in their communities. Feeling "sick and tired of being sick and tired," Sarah came to our retreat site in Connecticut to attend the Process. During the Process, students face the pain of the past and learn to take responsibility for their lives. It's challenging work. As a writer, podcast host, and three-time TEDx speaker, Sarah is used to speaking honestly and eloquently. While at the Process, she voiced her feelings of wanting to leave. In response, her coach, Drew, suggested she take it one session at a time. Sarah was able to do that and stayed. She's glad she did. Sarah beautifully expresses that she found it "really overwhelming to take on the history of being yourself and of what that has been." This is what the Process is about. It is where you learn to face yourself, your past, and your behaviors. And it's where you discover deep compassion and forgiveness for yourself and others. We're grateful to her for sharing her experience and insights from her week at the Process. We hope you enjoy this engaging, enlightening conversation with Sarah and Drew. More about Sarah Hernholm: Sarah Hernholm is the Founder and President of Whatever It Takes (WIT). She hosts both the DO WIT podcast and the Just Start podcast. Sarah focuses on creating platforms for teens and young adults to use their voices, launch businesses, and create sustainable impact in their communities. Sarah champions young entrepreneurs committed to innovation and doing “whatever it takes to make the world a better place.” She's a three-time TEDx speaker, a contributor to FORBES, a Today Show blogger, editor of WIT Magazine, a WSB speaker, and, one of these days, she will finally finish her book “The 11 Tips for Doing WIT.” Follow Sarah (Miss WIT), Doing Wit, and the WIT Podcast. In awareness hell, we know we are aware of our patterns and the things we do we wish we didn't do, but we are still unable to change. We understand but feel stuck in this place of hell even though our awareness keeps expanding.  To get out of awareness hell, our work to grow and transform must include three additional steps for change. These three steps are Expression, Compassion, and New Ways of Being. All four make up the Cycle of Transformation. Tweener - A child who is between the stages of childhood and adolescence. The term "tween" comes from this "in-between" stage

We appreciate your continued patience in posting delays, we will be back on track next week. West Coast work travel meant a delay in editing. In today's episode Joann and Kristina welcome content creator and vampire superfan Black Girl Talk Fangs as we recap and react to S2E5 of Interview with the Vampire: Don't be Afraid, Just Start the Tape. We discuss the relationships between the triangle of Armand, Louis and Daniel in 1973 San Francisco and how the things uncovered about the first interview inform the way the three will interact in Dubai going forward. Our structure remains the same as last season but we've enhanced the “standout” segment and have added a new segment that tracks the progress of “Dreamstat” the Lestat projection who Louis carries with him, to Claudia's consternation.  Below are some links to follow on Twitter (you may call it X).  Thanks for coming to listen to us each week and welcome to those of you who are new to the series and new to the podcast.  About Black Girl Talk Fangs: BGTF became an IWTV Superfan after watching the pilot episode in October 2022! She fell completely in love with Jacob and Sam's performances as Louis and Sam, New Orleans production, 1910s/1920s costumes shout out Carol Cutshall, and of course Daniel Hart's beautifully orchestrated musical scores. She was not an Anne Rice fan, and did not discover the show through reading The Vampire Chronicles growing up, but was familiar with the 1994 film with Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, and Kirsten Dunst. She has always loved shows about vampires since age 11 watching "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and later "True Blood". Since finding the show, she has read IWTV book, The Vampire Lestat, Queen of the Damned, Tale of the Body Thief, and The Vampire Armand, she made a decision to get involved with AMC IWTV fandom after noticing that the show had little to no marketing behind it in 2022. So in November 2022, she created Black Girl Talk Fangs or BGTF on Instagram and other platforms to connect with fellow fans, and have been doing that ever since. IWTV fans sometimes ask how she came up with the BGTF name and her answer is: "I am a black girl who talks about vampires". BGTF, is a space for her to fangirl over the creative talents in front of the screen and behind it without spamming friends and family in private accounts. Follow BGTF on Instagram (@blackgirltalkfangs) and Discord where she takes deep dives into IWTV Season Two episodes and occasionally host rewatch parties. This week on the show I'm thrilled to share with you my conversation with Dr. Jill Bolte-Taylor. Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor is a Harvard-trained and published neuroanatomist whose research specialized in understanding how our brain creates our perception of reality. As irony would have it, in 1996 at the age of 37, Dr. Jill experienced a severe hemorrhage in the left hemisphere of her brain. On the afternoon of this rare form of stroke (AVM), she could not walk, talk, read, write, or recall any of her life. It took eight years for Dr. Jill to completely rebuild her brain to recover all physical, emotional, and thinking abilities.Learn more at www.drjilltaylor.comBooks written by Dr. Jill Bolte-Taylor:My Stroke of InsightWhole Brain Living: The Anatomy of Choice & The Four Characters that Drive Our LifeDr. Jill's Ted Talk New to the podcast? This week on the podcast I'm diving into the health benefits of Dry January, by exploring some of the questions that you may not ask yourself regularly about alcohol. 1) Do you have any preexisting conditions that are exacerbated by drinking? This can include diabetes, liver disease, hypertension, epilepsy, and more.  2) Are you taking any medications that are less effective because of your alcohol consumption or that pose dangerous side effects when mixed with alcohol? This can include blood pressure medications, insulin, antibiotics, and various psychiatric medications.3) How does alcohol interfere with your ability to take care of your physical health? For example, is it affecting your skin, teeth, digestion, diet, or exercise habits?4) What is your cancer, Alzheimer's, and stroke risk? Have you or anyone else in your family been diagnosed with these types of conditions, which makes drinking more likely to negatively impact you?5) How is alcohol affecting your sleep? Do you find that you are waking frequently at night? Chronically tired in the morning? New to the podcast?
