— Maybe you should give up — Not on the life you want or the dreams you've had for years. But instead, maybe you should give up on the things that are actually holding you back from them. Maybe you should give up on anything that is getting in the way of you living the life that you want. If that sounds really simple, that's because it is. But just because it's simple, doesn't mean it's easy. After all, you may need to give up on things that you've been holding onto for most of your life. Giving up is actually the key to being successful. Every single successful person gives up all of the time. They give up on strategies and approaches that aren't get- ting results. They give up on ideas or goals they realize they don't want. They give up on negative feelings and fears that hold them back. They give up on anything that is getting in the way of creating the life they want. Valeria interviews Byron Morrison — He is the author of  “Maybe You Should Give Up: 7 Ways to Get Out of Your Own Way and Take Control of Your Life. ” Byron is also a mindset and high-performance coach who has helped CEOs, entrepreneurs and business leaders in 15 countries become who they need to be to break through to the next level of success. After years of being his own worst enemy, Byron Morrison knows exactly how frustrating the never-ending cycle of hard work, expectation, and minimal results can be. Maybe You Should Give Up is Morrison's answer to the question: how can anyone achieve their dreams if hard work isn't enough? It seems like every self-help book and personal development program is the same these days, preaching that if someone just does more and pushes harder, they can achieve the life of their dreams. This expectation doesn't often work with long-term results, which leaves many people to face the unfortunate reality of never reaching their goals. Why? Because despite their good intentions, they get in their own way, sabotaging themselves and becoming the biggest stumbling block in the way of their success. Tired of going ‘round in circles, Byron Morrison realized he needed to do something different. He gave up—not on his goals and dreams, accepting a life of mediocrity lying on the couch—but on being controlled by fear. He gave up living in the past. He gave up comparing himself to others. He gave up on being so hard on himself. And he gave up putting off his happiness. CLICK HERE TO PURCHASE   And it worked. He was able to get out of his own way and finally take control of his life. Maybe You Should Give Up explains how to throw out the rule book, break the mold and do something different. Byron Morrison's approach helps readers identify seven areas of their life that cause them to get in their own way and keep them stuck in a self-destructive cycle; he models how to give up on what holds a person back—to finally take control of the life they want and deserve.

You learn lessons, you grow, you build confidence. When you master that mental framing is when you are able to view failure as a good thing, and it's only bad when you keep making the same mistakes in the future.” “Some of the most successful people of all time love to fail. They recognize that learning and growing is part of the journey to a bigger win.” “I went on this journey of transformation to help take control of my life. I was in over my head, but I pivoted my business to align with my superpower of connecting with people and helping them achieve their goals.” The biggest reason why most people do not achieve their goals is because they are too focused on what they want, and not focused enough on who they need to become in order to make it happen.“Hope is not a strategy. You cannot rely on will-power and motivation to get you to where you want to be. When you start making decisions to show up as the person you strive to become is when you will re-program into that next level version of you and change your life.”“Instead of focusing on what may happen if you fail, you have to focus on what may happen if you don't go for it. What's the value?

My guest today, Byron, is a great illustration of what makes life so amazing, but also so tricky. He realized at some point, after spending years being overweight, bullied, and lacking self-confidence, that the key to life is to put yourself out there, try more things, and constantly seek growth. He totally transformed himself and his life. In many ways it is a beautiful story. Byron got healthy, got confident, and built his own business. He is now an author, speaker, and high-performance coach (www.byronmorrison.com), working with CEOs from all across the globe to help them maximize their time, lead with confidence and grow a business without losing their sanity. He did the hard work and he became "successful." He created a life that should allow him to have no regrets. That is where the tricky part comes in. It is true, that if you are committed, if you adjust your mindset, and if you do the hard work necessary you will see results. But how do you know if those results are better? How do you ensure that you new mindset that is driving you towards growth, isn't also creating stress and tension that stops you from fully enjoying life? How do you know that you aren't just succumbing to societal pressures and conforming to an inauthentic version of success? Byron had some thoughtful answers to these questions, as we kicked them around. I valued his answers not just because they were logical and addressed some of the concerns I raised, but also because he acknowledged that some of those concerns might be valid. He was super open and transparent about the struggles he still has trying to find balance between chasing his aspirations and living a well rounded life. He talked about the seduction of success and how ironically, in his constant search to minimize regrets, he could easily find himself with plenty of regrets at the end of his life. I think what makes Byron so qualified to do the work he does, is his consciousness and awareness of all these challenges. He doesn't claim to have the secret answers to life. What he does claim is that there is a tried and true approach to change your life, but part of that approach requires you to constantly reflect to see if the changes are actually making your life better.

Ignoring The Quick Route To The Life You Want Byron Morrison is our guest today on the Join Up Dot's business podcast.  Todays guest first appeared on Join Up Dots back in 2017 when he was on a mission to show us all how we can create a better us by being aware of what we are putting into our bodies, and what actions we take on a daily basis. He was focused on pushing past the fitness guys that time and time again, bring to the world some new diet or fad which for many is very hard to maintain after the initial buzz of tacking something new. He believed that we should do it a different way. And instead of forcing these principles in to our life and hope that they fit, we should have looked to tailor our life instead and go about it a very different way.  Now he has built on those principles and works helping CEOs upgrade their mindset and performance so that they can evolve into the leader they need. He wants them to take their business to the next level. and has added all his principles into his latest books “The Effective CEO” and “CEO In Control”  So was it a natural progression from the health based mission to where he is now, or did it take him by surprise?  And what is the biggest obstacle that his clients have to overcome in achieving the high performance they crave?  Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up more dots with the one and only Byron Morrison

Maybe You Should Give Up: 7 Ways to Get Out of Your Own Way and Take Control of Your Life by Byron Morrison After years of being his own worst enemy, Byron Morrison knows exactly how frustrating the never-ending cycle of hard work, expectation, and minimal results can be. And it worked. He was able to get out of his own way and finally take control of his life. Maybe You Should Give Up explains how to throw out the rule book, break the mold and do something different. Byron Morrison's approach helps readers identify 7 areas of their life that cause them to get in their own way and keep them stuck in a self-destructive cycle; he models how to give up on what holds a person back—to finally take control of the life they want and deserve.
