This week Desmond is sick. But he presents an interview with Mike Lombardo, who, besides also being sick and getting Desmond's blame for his own sickness via Skype-germs, has directed his first feature film: I'm Dreaming of a White Doomsday. Then, Devil Dinosaur Jr. presents a Stay Scary on the classic sleazy slasher The Mutilator. Rich the Monster Movie Kid rounds out the show to review the creepy killer kid movie What the Peeper Saw. Of course there are some tunes: "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" by The Browns, "The Christmas that Almost Wasn't" by Osaka Popstar & The American Legends of Punk, "World's Best Dad" by Ten Foot Pole, "Mommy, Can I Go Out and Kill Tonight?" by The Misfits, and "Doomsday" by MF Doom. We're just in time for a spooktacular look at two beloved Halloween specials. The Halloween that Almost Wasn't (1979) has a disco-battle with 1976's The Paul Lynde Halloween Special (not really), and we duke it out ourselves with some serious Skype issues, including a sound delay which makes the whole recording just a touch bit awkward. But our love of the season is in check, and so is the fake Paul Lynde chest hair, so give us a whirl, disco baby!
Darryll got run over by a reindeer, but have no fear: this episode has enough dudes with names beginning with the letter D to shake a candy cane-shaped stick at. Damien joins Desmond once again to look at the unfortunate black comedy Two Front Teeth. Then Devil Dinosaur Jr. officially debuts his new segment, Stay Scary, by reviewing William Castle's autobiography Step Right Up!: I'm Gonna Scare the Pants off America. There's tons of Christmas tune terror as long as you're still in the mood: "Cold Blooded Christmas" by Jon Lajoie, "The Christmas that Almost Wasn't" by Osaka Popstar and the American Legends of Punk, "Step Right Up" by Tom Waits, and "Silent Night Deadly Night (acoustic)" by The Browns. Merry whatever and happy new socks! Send feedback to: feedback@dreadmedia.net, or 206.203.1213. Join the Facebook group! Follow @ExtraLivesShow on Twitter, for Christ's sake! It's his birthday! On Saturday November 20th I interviewed a few well known local members of Portsmouth's theater community. The co-directors of Pontine Theater Marguerite Matthews and Greg Gathers were on my show and they performed Ogden Nash's holiday classic "The Christmas that Almost Wasn't" which was followed by a live interview. We talked about there upcoming show "A Poet's Christmas," the history of Pontine Theater as well as there current theater season.
