descriptionFall is here! And you know what that means, time to slightly hate all the friends you hold dear in the pursuit of $400! That's right y'all it's The League! The mostly improv story of 30-something friends engrossed in a cutthroat fantasy football league. The critics are calling it Curb but Chicago. With an unreal cast of improvisors, Nick Kroll, Paul Scheer, Jon Lajoie, Katie Aselton, Mark Duplass and Steve Rannazzisi this is the comedy the dudes have been craving. I tried an idea from Discord today, from this news story that Butthole Winker 34 posted about fiber huts. Do they really call them fiber huts? Doesn't that suggest there'd be a roof over the box? It's just a stupid utility box. Thanks, K.C. Deeply, for being today's top supporter! The opening and ending song is Trolling and Rolling by Suno AI. The background music is Normal Guy by Jon Lajoie. The end song is Pet Peeves by Soup or Villainz. LEARN MORE ABOUT THE SHOW: To find out more about the music you hear on this show, visit our page of artists. An EP arrived in 2018, followed by Everyone Is Dead Except Us, which arrived this summer. Lajoie joins us from a truck to discuss his unique trajectory. Hosted on Acast. We read some texts messages from our show text thread. Luke is a little shy, but definitely the most verbose of the three. Scott gets in between a bickering match between Luke and Mike. Old friends have too much history sometimes. Mike wants only the best for Luke in the end. The wrestling match within our thought process about how much to give to others without sacrificing our own well-being is a powerful and popular one. Can you accept help or are you too proud? Luke is surprised to find out the movie Flight (2012) is an excellent film. Jason Lee has stupid names for his kids. That leads to us talking about the TV show The League and which main actor is the most recognizable. One of those dudes Steve Ranizissi lied about being trapped in the twin towers on 9/11. He sounds like a total turd explaining it to Howard Stern. Jon Lajoie regales us with some of his finest jams. Mike admits to lying plenty when he was younger, but it's more understandable when you're trying to not get in trouble. Teenage Dirtbag is getting a lot of love on TikTok and this reminds the fellas of a bunch of lame post-punk bands from the early 2000s like Bowling For Soup. Finally the fellas get to the latest Woodstock '99 documentary on Netflix. How does it fare against the HBO doc from last summer? Mike warns youngsters to avoid depression if they can help it. Of course your emails get read! Danny and Mr. Pink are share their latest musings about Phillip Seymour Hoffman or student loans. We close the show with When Rhetoric Dies by Boy Sets Fire. TikTok is not exactly the most sex-positive app, yet sex-worker content tends to go viral, even if TikTok would prefer otherwise. The latest example is a trend using an edited version of a line from Jon Lajoie's song "Show Me Your Genitals," in which sex workers show off their earnings with the audio, "Men are stupid and I don't respect them." We also discuss the resurgence of the One Direction and 5 Seconds of Summer groupie communities, with special guest, music writer and columnist Larisha Paul, weighing in on the early days of both fandoms. Other topics include the return of Couch Guy, Leonardo DiCaprio dating age limits, French exchange students and a Himbo of the Week with exceptional whipped cream-licking skills. Don't Let This Flop is a weekly podcast from Rolling Stone, centered around a roundup of this week in TikTok trends and memes, from dances to recipes to makeup challenges to creepy viral videos to celebrity videos to grassroots campaigns intended to raise awareness of social issues. Join hosts Brittany Spanos and EJ Dickson as they unpack their significance, with special guests to break down the latest trends in TikTok. Working Class Audio #221 with Hans DeKline!!! Hans DeKline is a Grammy-winning, Los Angeles based mastering engineer. Since 2005, he has mastered thousands of songs & albums by artists such as U2, Pixies, Snoop Dogg, Touche Amore, mewithoutYou, Morcheeba, Veruca Salt, Lisa Loeb, Diplo, Jack Irons, James Fearnley, Candiria, Ritchie Ramone, Twista, Jesca Hoop, DJ AM, Papa M, Skating Polly, Gary Jules, Ninja Sex Party, Tim Finn, Ben Lee, JMSN, The Growlers, The Paranoyds, The Von Bondies, Partyshank, Jon Lajoie, Matthew Ryan, The Romantics, Steve Aoki, Pace Won, 825 Records & YOU! Hans grew up in Tucson AZ where he started playing and singing in bands when he was 15. His early audio experiences started with using borrowed 4 track cassette machines to make mix tapes of hip hop and punk tunes recorded from vinyl. Hans would compress/eq and change level for each tune so that those tapes would play down like commercially released compilations. He didn't realize it then but he was already starting his journey into mastering. Han's played the role of recording artist by signing to Sony Work Group fresh out of college in 96 with his group Maypole. He toured for a few years opening for Wallflowers, Smoking Popes and Our Lady Peace. By 98 it all ended... and Hans ultimately transitioned to the studio side of things. After mastering a friends record in early 2000 and receiving many referrals as a result, Hans started what was the beginning of a love affair with mastering. By 2005 he was mastering full time. About this interview: Hans joins me from his home in Los Angeles to discuss his journey, communicating with clients, raising wolves, outside interests, and remembering to always ask what does it sound like? You probably know him from his roles in shows and movies like The League and Let's Be Cops, or from his hugely popular parody songs; however, now, Jon Lajoie is putting his musical talents to more "serious" use with his indie folk project Wolfie's Just Fine, which we'll hear all about. We also catch travelling troubadour Corin Raymond amid his cross-Canada tour, talking about his latest release, Hobo Jungle Fever Dreams, and how the Canadian landscape seeps into his material. Vocal powerhouse SATE has a new release that showcases her brand of gritty blues-tinged rock through songs that were entirely selected by her fan base. Plus, our friends Terence Jack and ESMA join us ahead of a major cross-counry tour and huge CMW showcase, respectively.
If one music video is good, how about two music videos? How about two similar music videos back to back for the same song? This week were talking about Rihanna and Drakes sexy double video for Work, a back to back extravaganza that features Drake doing what he does best - have a famous female pop star do some sexy dancing for him. Also were talking about the that music machine video everyone is watching this week, as well as the first non-comedy Jon Lajoie music video. Join Dread Media this week. Seriously, join us. We're all about the cult this week. First, Dreadite favorite Ti West's latest film, Sacrament, takes the found-footage genre and applies it to a loosely veiled Jonestown story. Then, Devil Dinosaur Jr. looks at Kevin Smith's Branch Davidian / Westboro Baptist church mash-up Red State. Finally, black metal's rabid fans have accepted quite a lot of variation to their genre, but will they think the eponymous debut EP from the mysterious Danish one-woman black metal act Myrkur is "trve kvlt"? We'll have to see! Of course, there's tunes: "Sacrament" by HIM, "Back to Eden" by Black Sabbath, "High as Fuck" by Jon Lajoie, and "Nattens Barn" and "Ma Du Brænde i Helvede" by Myrkur.
Darryll got run over by a reindeer, but have no fear: this episode has enough dudes with names beginning with the letter D to shake a candy cane-shaped stick at.
