The regional transportation planning agency spearheading the project approved an additional $1.6 million to fund the study Thursday; In other news, a Tarrant County man was sentenced last week to 77 months for defrauding the federal government of $2.6 million in his preparation of tax returns. 51-year old Anthony Floyd was charged in June 2023 and pleaded guilty in May on the first day of his trial; about 1 in 4 Dallas water utility customers are behind on their bills, and city officials say they plan to start cutting off service and levying fines if people haven't paid off the debt or set up payment plans by mid-September. Around 26% of more than 313,000 customers are at least 60 days past due on their bills that cover Dallas water, sewer and stormwater services. Customers who are behind will start getting letters during the week of Aug. 19 saying they need either to pay off their balances or create a payment plan; and between bustling events at the American Airlines Center and the forthcoming 5,000-person Goldman Sachs campus, the ownership behind a new Italian restaurant expects it to stay busy. Sanjay Joshi, owner and CEO of the eatery expected to open in early 2025, has tapped Carla Pellegrino of Top Chef and Throwdown with Bobby Flay fame to guide the culinary efforts at the space.
