- Jeg kunne drept for å få være med på de avgjørende kampene nå i innspurten! Espen Børufsen har spilt over 300 kamper for Start siden 2006.

It's international week all over the football world and we're no different on the AFTN Soccer Show, as we bring you a special internationally themed episode. There's a few 'Caps away representing their country on international duty this week, with perhaps the most important games coming up for the Whitecaps two Costa Ricans, Kendall Waston and Christian Bolanos. We speak to both of them ahead of a busy week that could see the Ticos qualify for another World Cup. Waston tells us [at 05:11 mark] what qualification for Russia would mean for him personally, the task ahead, and just how good this current crop of Costa Ricans are, while Bolanos [09:54] looks ahead to whether or not he'll head to the Gold Cup with the team in July. Moving on to Canada, we hear from an injured Whitecap who sadly can't be at the Gold Cup with Canada this summer, David Edgar, [13:37] who chats with us about his injury, when we might see him back on the pitch, life as a colour commentator, the Gold Cup, and the Canadian Premier League. From a Canadian national team veteran to the team's newest recruit, Alphonso Davies, [23:14] as he chats with Harjeet Johal about what playing for Canada means to him, his meteoric rise, what his family have meant to his career, and more. And we wrap the show up with a Canadian Hall of Famer, the newest recruit in fact, Paul Stalteri, [30:21] who chats about his career, the future of the game here, and a lot more. The AFTN Soccer Show is brought to you in partnership with BCsoccerweb.com, your one stop site for all your BC, Canadian, and North American soccer news and links. Have a listen!
Whitecaps voice Pete Schaad says Cristian Techera is showing his 2015 form, and that’s been a key bounceback for the Caps. Pete also says Christian Bolanos has played important minutes for a well-rounded Caps team. And Pete says Kendall Waston has clearly stepped up in a leadership role this
Another week, another Cascadian derby, another Fredy Montero goal. Only trouble was this week it ended in a 2-1 defeat. We dissect Vancouver Whitecaps' loss against the Portland Timbers. Was it the cliched game of two halves that it felt? Where did it all go wrong, who stood out, who was targeted, and should the 'Caps have taken something from it? We get the thoughts from 'Caps coach Carl Robinson and striker Fredy Montero after the match, about the game and where they go from here with three more tough away games coming up fast. We also chat with Christian Bolanos, who had a poor first half display but was likely the best player on the pitch for the Whitecaps in the second half. It's an honest take after the game, and there may be a little frustration starting to show. See what you think. With the MLS Transfer Window closing soon, are the 'Caps still likely to add some new faces? We hear from Robbo and ponder where they need to be and will they come? There's also chat about tactics, fitness levels, Kekuta Manneh, a look ahead to next week's Canadian derby at Montreal, and more. Have a listen!
It's a new era for The AFTN Soccer Show. After four years, and 174 episodes, the podcast is taking to the airwaves at CiTR. Even 'Snowmageddon IV - Deep Trouble' won't stop us, the only Vancouver soccer show on FM radio. And our first radio show is a packed affair, as we look at the latest Vancouver Whitecaps happenings. The preseason may be well underway but the 'Caps are still searching one or two final pieces as they look to return to the MLS playoffs. This year's attack could hold the key, and that's the focus of a lot of this week's show. We chat with teenage phenom Alphonso Davies. He's continued to look exceptional and a real talent but after a whirlwind rookie year as a 15-year-old, how does he continue his rise? At the other end of the age scale, we sit down with veteran midfielder Christian Bolanos, about the season past, the season to come, and Costa Rica's recent heroics on the world stage. The 'Caps are still needing a DP striker. One is coming, but as to when, no-one can be totally sure. Not even head coach Carl Robinson, and we chat with Robbo about Vancouver's continuing striker problem. Have a listen!
Remember us? We thought we'd come out of winter hibernation to bring you a couple of end of year podcasts to round off what's been a pretty miserable 2016 with a bang. It's been a fairly quiet offseason in Whitecapsland but with things starting to happen this week, it seemed only right to come back with a round-up of all the latest news and rumours and to bring you some unheard interviews we did towards the end of the season with Vancouver Whitecaps players and management. It's been a week to officially confirm departures and which options have and haven't been picked up for the season ahead and we look at two of the more newsworthy ones - captain Pedro Morales and goalkeeper Marco Carducci - and look at what holes the 'Caps need to fill and whether a MLS Cup between two fierce rivals will force the front office to act. On the interview side, we hear from 'Caps coach Carl Robinson about his search for difference makers, his offseason plans, squad harmony, Alphonso Davies, and more, while Costa Rican veteran Christian Bolanos looks back at his first season in MLS with the Whitecaps and talks about his dream of making it to a third World Cup with the Ticos. We also hear from two Canadians, one who may be the new club captain, David Edgar, and one who has returned to his former club at the end of his loan deal, Fraser Aird, and a player hoping to earn his first MLS contract in 2017, WFC2 goalkeeper Spencer Richey. There's a lot of talk to be had, so have a listen.
