In this episode, LDG interviews USWNT U-23 and NC Courage midfielder Riley Jackson! Due to her incredible performances with her school team and club team, accumulating 32 goal contributions with the former, she won the Gatorade National Girls Soccer Player of the Year. Riley signed her first professional contract at 17 via the NWSL U‑18 mechanism with the North Carolina Courage, foregoing NCAA eligibility and her prior commitment to play with the Duke Blue Devils. She was a co‑captain of the U.S. U‑17 team and was an instrumental member of the U.S. team that won a bronze medal at the 2024 U‑20 World Cup. She recently trained alongside the USWNT senior team at the Futures Camp last January, and has ambitions of making the 2027 Women's World Cup roster. The interview also touches upon why the environment of Courage was one she wanted to become a permanent member of, her time training with the Courage/the USWNT at Futures Camp as a teenager, playing alongside Denise O'Sullivan in the midfield, and so much more!Thank you for listening! In this episode, LDG interviews Carolina Ascent and Puerto Rican WNT fullback Jill Aguilera. Jill starred at the collegiate level with Arizona, scoring 33 goals over the seasons she played with the Wildcats. At the professional level, Jill has played in both the Ganbridge Super League and NWSL, with the Carolina Ascent and Chicago Stars, respectively. Last season, Jill starred with the Ascent in the attacking fullback role, leading the league in assists and winning both the Defender of the Year + Golden Playmaker awards. She is now returning to the Ascent for a second year to avenge their semifinal playoff loss and seek out back-to-back Shield victories. She also plays for the Puerto Rican National Team.In this interview, we discuss her experience as a rookie in the NWSL, what the Charlotte community means to her, the influence of her national team's success at the Gold Cup, and more.
