Vi er faldet til ro efter sidste uges afsnit om "Roma" og denne gang har vi taget fat på "You Were Never Really Here". Welcome everyone! Hang in there it is almost Friday then you can get out and catch a movie! Today Mike and Matt review a very dark and thought-provoking film You Were Never Really Here starring Joaquin Phoenix. Off topics include the Academy Awards, our love of Joaquin Phoenix, and equipment failures again but this time it was Mike! You Were Never Really Here is an incredible film but again it is super dark. Joaquin Phoenix and Ekaterina Samsonov both did amazing jobs acting. The sound design shocked Matt. It was so incredible even on his crappy surround sound system he just couldn’t believe it. The cinematography and directing were amazing as well. This is a must watch film but again here is another warning the subject matter is extremely dark. Matt really likes this film and thinks it should have garnered more viewings and award nominations than it has. He gives it a great score of 4 out of 5 Reels. Mike also really enjoyed You Were Never Really Here. The darkness and subject matter did put him off just a bit, but he still liked the film a lot. He gives it 3.5 out of 5 Reels. The guys are still trying to figure out what they want to review for next week. The theaters are pretty light right now with new releases. Matt wants to review a couple of films that your hosts missed in the theaters because of their fairly small releases, Bomb City and Eighth Grade. Tune in on Tuesday to see what they settle on. Chat with you then! Thanks for tuning in for another episode of two nerds talking about movies. Please do us a favor and tell your friends about the RFN podcast. The last film for the political theme was Selma (2014) directed by Ava DuVernay and starring David Oyelowo, Carmen Ejogo, Tim Roth, and many more. It's actually an amazing cast, many who have become leads since this film. Jonathan (@berkreviews) selected this film and neither he nor Corey (@coreyrstarr) had seen it previously. They both knew this film would wreck them emotionally and were proven correct. Next Episode: You Were Never Really Here (2017) The last month of 2018 will have Jonathan and Corey looking back at the year and trying to catch a few films that they missed. Corey selected Lynne Ramsay's You Were Never Really Here, which stars Joaquin Phoenix, Judith Roberts, and Ekaterina Samsonov. Jonathan just recently watched this film and isn't thrilled about returning to it. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/berkreviewscom-moviecasts/support
Darren flirts with the dogs, Anthony shuns a desperate stranger, and we flex the parts of us you can’t see; plus one powerful eyebrow. Reviews include Lynne Ramsay’s ‘You Were Never Really Here’ (Joaquin Phoenix, Ekaterina Samsonov, Alessandro Nivola), the Amy Schumer comedy, ‘I Feel Pretty’ (Rory Scovel, Busy Philipps, Michelle Williams), and Michel Hazanavicius’ kinda-biopic, ‘Godard Mon Amour’ (Louis Garrel, Stacy Martin, Berenice Bejo). Names are butchered, stereotypical accents are utilized, and we push for the equality of nudity in film. Don’t tell us we don’t give you what you want, because we talk about Kevin, the season 2 premiere of Westworld, and Nymphomaniac volumes 1 AND 2. Keep on flexin’.
