Are they providing the right advice for your situation? Eric Nisall joins us on the show to discuss how we can objectively consider the information we find online and how it applies to our situation. With just a few weeks left to go before tax filing time, my friend, and one of my favorite CPAs, Eric Nisall, joins me to answer, quite frankly, lots of my and my clients tax-related questions. He also talks about his awesome new course that is perfect for bloggers, freelancers, Instagrammers, influencers, entrepreneurs, or pretty much anyone who is considering becoming any one of these. It’s a great show, and if you haven’t filed your taxes yet, you’re scared to file, or maybe you haven’t filed in a few years, grab some paper and take notes. Notes for this show as well as links to my guest's sites can be found on my blog, http://financially-blonde.com. Three weeks ago I sat down to speak with my friend Eric Nisall, from Account Lancer. One of the greatest things about Eric lies in the fact he never holds back his bold and honest opinion. There’s nothing I or you will (or should) be able to do to hold him back. It’s this brash … Continue reading Mimosas With Eric Nisall – The Finale

Eric Nisall joins Liz and Toni to discuss all the ways we annoy our accountants....okay, we did try to avoid being hated while doing the interview so we didn't bring up all the things we do for our accountants. Eric brings a voice of reason to the accounting conversation we we talked about deductions and timelines. Take Aways: Ask questions when hiring a new accountant. Interview them and find someone who specializes in your area. Not every accountant is an expert in every area. Make sure the preparer form is attached and they are signing the tax return so they are accountable for their work. Ask how they are getting paid. Going to places with high volume and general services may mean that you miss out on more specialized deductions. The more organized your records, the less you spend. There is a direct correlation. Pay your accountant on time. Do NOT call the day after submitting your paperwork to ask if the return is done.
If you are like me, you would pay anything to not have to do taxes yourself. Eric Nisall, an accountant and founder of AccountLancer, explains how you don’t always have to pay for a service when you can do it yourself. If you do pay for a service, he gives tips on how to make sure you are getting your money’s worth – especially where your income taxes are concerned. A complete checklist of things discussed today can be found in the show notes at http://financially-blonde.com/mmpodcast
This is a special episode as it’s our 50th and our last for 2016. After this, we will be taking a break to spend time with our friends and family for the holidays. We plan to come back next year with lots of new ideas to make the show even better! To celebrate our 50th episode, we’re talking about something a lot of small business owners and entrepreneurs think about: how to legitimize their business, and what it actually means for you. Because we have a lot of questions on this topic, we decided to bring in a special guest to tell us what we need to know about transforming our businesses into actual legal entities and other ways to legitimize your business. Our special guest today is Eric Nisall from AccountLancer.com and Entrepretunity.com. Eric’s an accountant for freelancers and totally knows his stuff when it comes to all the ins and outs of taxes and business law. He's also an entrepreneur himself, so we knew he'd be the perfect guest to join us in this episode. In this episode we discuss: 1:50 - Eric introduces himself 3:30 - When Eric chose to strike out on his own 10:00 - When to consider tax benefits of forming an entity 24:50 - Viewing your business as a business 35:00 - How to tell a bad accountant from a good one 38:15 - Eric's future plans Related Links to Check Out: Accountlancer.com Entreprentunity.com What To Do When You Wrongly Receive A 1099-MISC Choosing The Right Tax Professional For You & 1 Question You NEVER Thought To Ask Your Accountant is Robbing You & Pissing Off Your Partners
