In a world of constant change, our souls crave something permanent to anchor our lives. In this powerful concluding message from the "Lofty" series on God's character, Pastor Talaat reveals the wonderful truth that our God is immutable - unchanging in His character, promises, and sovereignty. From Psalms 102, Talaat unpacks how God's love, wisdom, and holiness never fade or shift, providing an unshakable foundation for our faith. He shows how God's promises - like salvation through Christ, provision, and help in troubles - are sure and cannot be altered or broken because God does not lie or change His mind. Finally, Talaat explores how God's sovereignty over all circumstances and situations is unchanging - His purposes ultimately prevail, He governs everything, and His eternal kingdom will never be overthrown. In this unstable world, we can find unshakable hope, security, and confidence by anchoring our lives to the immutable realities of who God is and what He has done. Let this convicting and encouraging message realign your perspective to the permanence of our unchanging God.-----ABOUT USWe exist to help you Know God, Find Freedom, Discover Your Purpose, and Make a DifferenceSTAY CONNECTEDPurpose City Church Website: https://www.purposecitychurch.com/Purpose City Church Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/wearepurposecityPurpose City Church Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/wearepurposecity/GIVETo support this ministry and help us continue to reach people all around the world, click here: https://www.purposecitychurch.com/give
Dark Windows Podcast Ep. 271: This week we are headed back to a throwback from the 2021 Asshole Tournament and one contestant that really stood out because of how little either of us had heard about him. Talaat Pasha was a Turk that came up through the ranks of Turkish leadership through political uprisings and backstabbing. When WWI kicked off he had a plan to get rid of an entire group of people... The His & Her Money Show: Managing Money, Marriage, and Everything In Between
In this empowering episode of The His and Her Money Show, hosts Talaat and Tai have an inspiring conversation with pastor, author, and influencer Paul Daugherty. Paul is the lead pastor of Victory Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, which was founded by his parents in 1981. He took over leadership of the church in 2014 after the sudden passing of his father. In addition to pastoring Victory Church, Paul is also a popular podcaster and author. His new book "Mind Games: Winning the Battle in Your Mind" shares his powerful story of overcoming depression, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, and more after becoming a young widow and unexpectedly taking the helm of his family's influential ministry. Through biblical lessons, personal stories, and practical insights, "Mind Games" provides a blueprint for readers to gain victory over the debilitating mind games that hold so many people back from living a purposeful and fulfilling life. In this episode, Paul opens up about his mental health battles and how he was able to turn the corner through faith, counseling, trusting his loved ones, and the realization that the “master key” to victory was within him all along through Christ. He also shares wisdom on avoiding the mind games of comparison and jealousy, pursuing spiritual health alongside mental health, involving your spouse in your journey, and finding true success through obedience to God's calling. Key Takeaways: Paul shares his personal story of dealing with depression, suicidal thoughts, and anxiety after the sudden passing of his father and taking on leadership of his family's church at a young age. He explains how an encounter at his church helped him realize he had the "master key" to victory in Christ all along. This shifted his mindset and enabled him to start overcoming his inner battles. Paul stresses the importance of inviting your spouse into your mental health journey and getting counseling if needed. He apologized to his wife for not properly including her in his grief early in their marriage. To avoid falling into the mind game of comparison, Paul had to repent to his pastor friend Mike Todd for being jealous of Mike's viral success. Paul emphasizes focusing on your growth and purpose, not someone else's success. A kingdom win for one person is a win for all. Benefits of pursuing mental health: More peace, joy, better sleep, less need for others' approval. The real success is obedience to what God called you to do. In the book "Mind Games", Paul shares personal stories and reflections, Bible passages, and counseling insights to help people gain victory over various mind games like depression, anxiety, jealousy, inadequacy, and more. Life throws a lot of stuff our way, both good and bad. But have you ever found yourself at that wall when you know that if one more thing comes your way you're going to explode? We don't fully understand why God allows us to reach those breaking point moments, but we can know that He loves us and we can trust that He is a refuge from the worst of storms in our life. Luke Weaver is a newly-signed pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds, after recently playing for the Kansas City Royals. Luke got attention beyond his athletic talents in the league for the special glove he wears designed to look like an old-school Bible. It reminds him of God's promise to stand by him in any situation. Talaat and Tai McNeely are a married couple who faced a fork in the road when Talaat came clean about his less-than-ideal financial situation just before they were married—and how they had to rebuild trust with each other in their understanding and communication, and now, how they help others facing the same mountain. And you just kind of add all that in together and then you're just like, Man, this is really cool.” - Luke Weaver “There's these moments where it's like I'm being challenged, but God won't let me get to the breaking point.” - Luke Weaver “God's really doing a lot in my life right now.” - Luke Weaver “I'm proud of the words that were able to flow through me. I'm proud of the way I can handle these situations because I know the long term effect is much more impactful, not only for me, but hopefully for the person across the room and how they handle things going forward with other players or with other moments.” - Luke Weaver “It got to the point where the mess that I was trying to clean up on my own silently, the plan wasn't working because God wasn't going to allow it to work because we couldn't build the foundation that we were about to embark on with the lie. And so really, I was backed into a corner.” - Talaat McNeely “It took a lot of prayer and a whole lot of conversation for us to come back together and walk down that aisle and continue to move forward with our lives together after the truth of the situation came out.” - Talaat McNeely “I went to God in prayer. I involved the Lord in our decision making. “Lord, what should I do? How should I walk this out?” And then once God began to deal with my heart, I was able to embrace the journey.” - Tai McNeely “We began to dream really, really big and ambitiously, as though the God of the universe that we serve could do anything.” - Talaat McNeely “If you take the time to dream and give yourself concrete goals and benchmarks that you're trying to hit, the hard work becomes less hard because you know that the progress that you're making is actually leading you somewhere.” - Talaat McNeely “If He allowed me to overcome this mountain, there are some other mountains that He can help me with as well.” - Talaat McNeely “With God, all things are possible. So it starts with your level of faith, not in yourself, not in your talent, skills, or ability, but your level of faith and the faithfulness of the God that you serve. He doesn't want you to be bound. He doesn't want you to be shackled. He doesn't want you to be full of anxiety about your finances. He wants you to be free. After the Fall of Constantinople, the Ottomans became the most powerful dynasty in existence. But the great empire began to decline, and in the early 20th century, a leader named Talaat and a group of radical nationalists worked to remove the ineffectual sultan and restore the Ottoman Empire's former glory. Rules for Academic 1) All punctuation marks are not preceded by a space; they are all (with the exception of hyphen (-), dash (—), & slash (/)) followed by a space. N.B. Punctuation marks are important for driving your ideas home. (I prepared these notes using my Basics of Essay Writing[Part One pp. 1-30].) (2)Never end a sentence with an exclamation mark (!) and a question mark (?) at the same time (!?); each one(alone)is sufficient to end a sentence/question. Only in informal writing can we do so! If a question is exclamatory in the same time, give priority to putting a question mark (and not an exclamation mark): e.g., Has not he attended any lecture?& not Has not he attended any lecture!(3)Three punctuation marks only do put an end to a sentence—a full stop (.) to the complete sentence, a question mark (?) to the question, & an exclamation mark to the exclamatory.... (4)When mentioning items more than two, use a comma before the final and(and be consistent in this usage)to avoid ambiguity, e.g., I recited some Qur'anic verses, read the newspaper, and left for university.(5) A letter with a shadda in Arabic should be indicated by doubling/geminating that letter in English. This often appears when writing Arabic proper names in English: e.g., Muhammed Seddiq el-Minshawi. (6)Letters without shaddas in Arabic proper names must never be doubled/geminated when written in English: e.g., Sally, Hassan, Hossam, etc. All these customs followed by some British/American writers and, hence, imitated by us are undoubtedly wrong. Like us Arabs, British/American people commit many common mistakes in writing. (7)When you write an Arabic proper name beginning with al/el (the equivalent for the definite article thein English) such as al-Menshawi, el-Masri, al-Mahallawi, etc., write the al/elin small letters followed bya hyphen (-) then capitalize the first letter of the original word/name: e.g., Muhammed Seddiq el-Menshawi, Mustafa al-Mahallawi, etc. WHY? When in Rome do as the Romans do. Since you do not capitalize articles (a, an, & the) included in titles as proper nouns when writing in English, you should follow suit when writing proper nouns/names in English. You follow the rules of writing in the language needed. (8)A differentiation between the moon letter and the sun letter should be made clear in your writing of Arabic names: Kafreshikh(or even Kafresh-Shikhif acceptable in titles)University(and not Kafrelsheikh University). (9) Anglo-American writers favour two-part titles, in which the first part is an interest-awakening phrase, possibly a quotation, and the second identifies the topic and work(s) studied. Differentiate the subtitle from the main title with a line break (and here the subtitle must be smaller than the main title) or separate the two with a colon (and here the two parts must have the same font degree). https://www.facebook.com/abdelrahman.tallat.5 --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jack-bosma3/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/jack-bosma3/support

This might be the first episode to get me death threats. The Turkish government does NOT like being accused of genocide, and neither do many of its citizens. But during WW1, genocide is exactly what the Young Turks orchestrated. Roughly 1.5 million Armenians were killed. And between 1900 - 1923, up to 4.3 million Armenian, Greek, Assyrian, and other smaller ethnic groups of Christian were massacred by the Ottoman Empire and their successors committed to the racist and xenophobic ideology of Pan-Turkism. Today's story is a crazy one. The craziest part about it is that it is not more well known. And it is not well known primarily because of Turkey's consistent and constant denial that it ever happened. It is literally illegal in Turkey to accuse the Turkish government of having committed genocide. They have cut off relations with other nations for accusing them of genocide. It's a topic that needs to be talked about more and I hope you are as fascinated by today's information as I am. DN115 with Talaat and Tai McNeely- How to Tackle and Beat Debt as a Couple What do you think will happen if two different people of different financial upbringing and goals get married? Would that spell trouble? Well, that was the beginning of the marriage life of our guests for today, Talaat and Tai McNeely. Talaat grew up in South side Chicago with great upbringing. Although he was given what he needs, although not necessarily what he wants, he also did not get early financial education. After graduating high school, he left the house at 17 and went straight to military where he splurge in his desires on branded clothes, car and stereos and all the stuff he thought he needed. Before knowing that he is in $30,000 in debt. While Tai, on the other hand, was born in extremely frugal parents. With five siblings, she assumed that all shopped at thrift stores. She also became frugal, went into college debt-free and bought her own vehicle at 17 years old and paid it in 13 months. She thought she’s going to marry a man with the same financial mindset. Not long, she discovered her husband lied about his debt situation. How they team up, tackle and beat debt is very inspirational and I believe all of us will get valuable insights that we can apply in our own lives. It is a blessing to be able to peek into their minds, get a glimpse of their proven ways of beating debt and building wealth, together as a couple. Are a couple that are trying to build a business, or are trying to make your business a success? Definitely take heed to this power couple as they uncover their mindset shift, business secrets and parenting and relationship tips to help you build the life of your design. Here’s What You Missed How to make the communication open for financial issues in marriageHow should parents view financial education at home? What is hybrid approach in tackling debt?Tips on having online presence for your businessShould you invest first or pay your debt first? How will you know when to continue, pivot, shift or stop in pursuing your business Knowledge Nuggets Talaat and Tai tried a lot of side hustles first before really discovering the best business for them, that provides not just good money, but is also good for their family. Discover their family journey to building wealth today! [4:06] Talk to your kids about financial issues. Don't assume that they’ll just learn it overtime. Because they may interpret it in the wrong way that will lead to a pitfall. Educate yourself first and pass the right knowledge to the next generation. [9:29] Once we got married it was he and I. You married a all of him/her. Not just his good traits. You should get to know each other really well. When you discover something that you did not know beforehand, tackle it together. [10:17] You can't tell your children one thing, but do another. You should teach by example. Your children are watching you. When splurging them with their wants, do it in moderation and find balance. Make sure you are having the conversation about financial literacy. Make sure they see your action and hear your voices. [14:26] Be honest and authentic when talking to your children. They will learn from both sides of the coins. They learn from the good and the bad. You don’t need to be perfect in their eyes, children can appreciate imperfection. They are not looking for the perfection, they look for structure, discipline and order. [16:30] Hybrid approach in tackling debt. Majority of your focus should be on debt but you should also look for ways where you can invest. You can even start a business but not necessarily get into debt in order to have a business. [18:21] Every dollar of debt that you pay off is an increase to your net worth. it's a dollar for dollar investment when you're paying off debt. [21:40] Communication is a two way street. When you are trying to sell your customer some products or service, it is your duty to bring it to them in a way that they can receive it. Be sure to have an online presence in many other fashions, be it videos, blogs, graphics, etc. The world is not going to get less digital. [22:21] You need to have an online presence where you own the real estate. Like instead of only having your business in Etsy and Facebook where they can easily erase your account, build your own website. Don’t build your brain or your real estate on somebody's else’ land. Build your email list. [26:07] If you have a dream or if your spouse has a dream, honor it. Start with honor and respect. Then have a better conversation. You should both want this dream. Continue to have updates to not have resentments. Honoring, upfront identifying rules, and updating each other. Communication and reevaluating are the keys. [34:24] Have a calculated risk. Even though thing didn't work out, never put your livelihood in jeopardy. Take a measured amount of money and a measured amount of time to go after it. [41:09] Within your combined plan, we have ‘his and her money’. “We have access to the accounts we have and we have a dollar amount that we can spend that I do not need to have the spouse's approval. We are in the same page, but we don’t do all of it together.” [46:31] Index funds: It's just you matching the markets. So whatever the market is doing, that's what your money is doing. [52:34] Whether you believe you can or whether you believe you can't you're right. So change your belief system. We all have obstacles. Start with the belief system. [53:53] Perfection is a destiny killer. A lot of times people are giving excuses on why they can't start and why they can't start now. =If you continue to fill your mind with those excuses, you will still be in the same place that you are next year. "It's as if we are going through the 1918 flu pandemic AND the Great Depression AND the Civil Rights era, all at once." That's what James Arthur said on his podcast, Minority Korner, in (and about) Spring 2020. I think he's right. To get through it all we are going to have to work together! That's the spirit in which I bring you this episode. In this conversation on racial justice between my friend Shane Sams, and his friend Talaat McNeely, Talaat shares that we each must "Make change within our sphere of influence." Well, my sphere of influence is in teaching parents like you how to get your family going in the direction you want. Today I link that idea up with getting this nation going in the direction we want: one in which everyone is treated fairly, and where parents don't have to worry about their children being harassed, assaulted, or murdered because of how they look. I hope this episode, all about raising anti-racist kids, will help you make these crucial changes within your sphere of influence. FYI: Free live training course on raising good, kind kids – This week I'm doing not one but two live trainings, teaching on how a parent can change a child's bad behavior to good… and one common mistake that well-meaning parents often make when trying to raise good, kind kids. (In other words, something that ups the bad behavior, when they're trying to reduce it. It's not a mistake you want to make.) Click weturnedoutokay.com/kind to sign up for the live trainings, this coming Thursday, June 11 and Sunday, June 14! Because of my white privilege, I have been able to insulate myself. I've been able to not see some important truths that have been right in front of me. I have remained ignorant, when I should have been seeking education. This week one of my friends, a white man from Kentucky, had an amazing conversation with one of his friends, a Black man from Chicago. Talaat McNeely and Shane Sams spoke for an hour and 45 minutes, and I was astounded and ashamed at the stories Talaat told. Things that have personally happened to him and his kids, just because of the color of their skin. I was: – astounded by the differences in our experiences, Talaat's and mine, which only came about because he happens to be Black, and I happen to be white. No one should ever, EVER be treated the way Talaat and his family have been treated. – ashamed because I let it happen. The simple fact that it is happening means that I have not done enough to stop it. Talaat shares five key steps that we can take to stop racism. (I don't remember to bring up the first and most important one until we're almost at the very end of today's episode, so all along you'll hear me talk about four key steps… But that first one is most important. Talaat brings it up right at the beginning of his conversation with Shane. It's something you hear me talk about on the show again and again, and I still can't believe it took me until the last part of this episode to talk about it in connection with stopping racism.) As a graduate student, I spent quite a bit of time explaining to people how we needed to pay much more attention to the history of World War One in the East. What I didn’t realize is that we needed to see the war as it appeared from Istanbul just as much or more as we needed to see it from Vienna, Warsaw or Budapest. Hans-Lukas Kieser has played a critical role in beginning to flesh out our understanding of the war from an Ottoman perspective. His new political biography Talaat Pasha: Father of Modern Turkey, Architect of Genocide (Princeton University Press, 2018) greatly expands our sense of Talaat’s world view and his effort to his vision into place. Kieser highlights the evolution in Talaat’s imagined future in the period before the war, his attempt to use violence to achieve this vision, and the legacy this left for Turkish politics and ideas. Naturally, the Armenian genocide forms a core part of Kieser’s book. But Kieser sets this genocide into context, explaining the connections between foreign and domestic policy. He argues convincingly that Talaat’s militaristic policies toward surrounding countries are part of a greater whole, in which ethnic cleansing within the Ottoman Empire complemented territorial expansion in the Caucuses. And he argues that Talaat, by abandoning constitutionalism to embrace one-party authoritarian rule and a Social-Darwinist nationalism, set the stage for Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. Kelly McFall is Professor of History and Director of the Honors Program at Newman University. He’s the author of four modules in the Reacting to the Past series, including The Needs of Others: Human Rights, International Organizations and Intervention in Rwanda, 1994. On this episode my guest is the amazing Tai McNeely who is the founder of hisandhermoney.com, alongside her husband Talaat. They also have an incredible podcast and YouTube Channel called “The His & Her Money Show”. In this episode Tai shares the initial challenges she faced managing money in the early days of her marriage including working with her husband to pay off over $30,000 of debt in their first year of marriage. We talked about how financial roles can change in a marriage, setting goals as a couple, managing disagreements about money etc and Tai shares some key advice on how to be successful doing all of these things together with your significant other - the key ingredient? Communication. We talked about the guilt women feel taking the back step in their marriages or as stay at home moms and why it’s important to understand the value of all you do as a wife and as a mother as well as the value of what you contribute to your family. We also talked about why it’s important that you are both involved in your household finance. Tai also shared some of her big accomplishments that put her on the path to financial success including paying off her 1st car in just 11 months which she purchased for $13,000 at the age of 19 and putting herself through college debt free. iPhone fever? Talatt and Tai McNeely from His and Her Money join me about the euphoria following the new model of iPhone - and what that means for our money. We discuss this problem of prioritizing stuff over financial health -- and how we can fix it. My biggest takeaway is to think about what you prioritize and what comes first in your life. Is it stuff? Or is it something more than stuff? How much is stuff keeping you from achieving something more? I hope that as we head into the holiday spending season that you think about this episode and make financial health a priority instead of spending.
