We had been transported to another world, another time maybe. The stars were all wrong, not matching any of the charts we had on board our ship, the Manticore. Captain Sofi Odessa decided we should make landfall and spotted a natural harbour nearby. As we got closer, we saw an old woman waving to us from the shore. It seemed like she had been expecting us. Once we had dropped anchor, we went to the starboard side to speak to the woman and find out what she wanted. She was clearly excited to see us and immediately told us that we were here to wake the Sleeping Gods by Red Raven Games.Read the full article here: https://tabletopgamesblog.com/2021/03/27/sleeping-gods-saturday-review/LinksSleeping Gods: https://redravengames.squarespace.com/sleeping-godsRed Raven Games: https://redravengames.squarespace.com/BGG listing: https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/255984/sleeping-godsNear and Far: Amber Mines review: https://tabletopgamesblog.com/2019/09/21/near-and-far-amber-mines-saturday-review/Intro Music: Bomber (Sting) by Riot (https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/)Music: Acoustic Breeze by Bensound (https://www.bensound.com)
In the world of Arzium, groups of brave adventurers travel from town to town, where they load up on supplies and pack animals and recruit new members, who are willing to join them on the long journey, as they look for a lost city, called Last Ruin, where legend says lies a powerful artefact that will fulfil the finder's innermost wishes. It is time for you to add your name to the list of famous explorers, venture into the wild to collect valuable and useful items, meet new people, return to town to work for money and food, travel through abandoned mines and do what is needed to successfully complete the journey. Near and Far: Amber Mines by Red Raven Games allows you to become a hero, if you can compete with your fellow bands of explorers and come out ahead.Read the full article here: https://tabletopgamesblog.com/2019/09/21/near-and-far-amber-mines-saturday-review/

Our post GenCon coverage rolls on with expansions for some of our favorite games. Jason starts off with a review of Tiny Epic Defenders: The Dark War (4:17), as well as the second edition of the base game, Jason answers whether this one will have a chance to convert folks who may have been on the fence about it from the first edition and whether it has something new to offer. Anthony takes the baton for an expansion to one of our favorite games - the Prelude expansion for Terraforming Mars (11:23). Short answer: just get it, it's pretty awesome. Jason comes back with Near and Far: Amber Mines (16:51), which includes a long awaited cooperative mode. Anthony's final expansion is the Beyond the Gates Expansion for Paper Tales, which adds a solo mode to this card drafting game. Finally, Luke and Jason duke it out over one of the biggest expansions to land this year - Sentinels of the Multiverse: Oblivaeon (34:20). One of us liked it, one of us didn't, so it was a lot of fun to go back and forth about it. We hope you enjoy us geeking out over this one, as well.

Back from illness, our hosts are joined once again by Wesley, and after some talk of drinking-related events, they dive into some recently played games. Jeff played a less intense version of Hanabi, Zach swindled an office building in Burgle Bros, Welsey found the right letters in Paperback, and Adrian got overwhelmed by money in For-Ex. Jeff gets caught up in the Bloody Minute, and then it is on to News and Kickstarters. In News, Eldritch horror and Inis get more expansions. Then in Kickstarters, the 7th Continent does its second printing and adds another expansion, Near and Far does the same, Tiny Epic Defenders gets a second edition AND an expansion, and our hosts complain about poker chips in GameChips. Our Contest winner for Seven7s is announced and a couple emails close out the show. 00:00:29 - Banter Intro!
