Monero Talk typically focuses on fundamentals rather than technical analysis, but the current market conditions made it relevant to discuss price movements and broader market trends. Kevin presented detailed analysis of various markets, including the S&P 500, gold, Bitcoin, and Monero. He demonstrated how technical analysis can predict major market moves by showing historical examples, particularly with gold price predictions from 2019 that proved accurate. The discussion explored the relationship between different markets, with Kevin explaining how cryptocurrencies remain strongly correlated with stock markets despite occasional short-term divergences. He presented evidence suggesting a potential 'melt-up' scenario in the coming months, while also warning of longer-term risks. Episode 147 Ch. 6 of the Long Winter, "Indian Summer". Join us this week as we discuss the origins of the phrase "Indian summer" and dovkies.
Passing the thermometer of conversation over the rock and roll news to see where the mercury rises, which this week includes … … the new Barbra Streisand duets album. Duets are ‘playlets', small intense dramas that depend on human interaction, but so many are recorded separately (including, tragically, Ain't No Mountain High Enough by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell). … but … duets you HAVE to hear! eg Cash & Carter, Otis Redding & Carla Thomas, Ray Charles & Betty Carter, Siouxsie & Morrissey, Nick Cave & Kylie, Peter Gabriel & Kate Bush. … the extraordinary story of the rebirth and Indian Summer of Mississippi John Hurt after 40 years of invisibility. … blues lyrics that now seem unimaginable. … Frank Zappa as a drug dealer? Miles Davis as a pimp? Cyndi Lauper as a trophy wife? Real or made-up Miami Vice rock star cameos. … great opening lines – “We got married in a fever …!” … how you always learn something you never knew about someone from their obituary - like Mike Peters' involvement in the highest altitude concert ever performed (on Everest with Glenn Tilbrook and Slim Jim Phantom). … where people listen to the Word In Your Ear “poddy” – eg in the bath, in court, at wedding receptions, by the Allman Brothers' graveside. Plus birthday guest John Montagna on rock stars who should be in a TV series.Help us to keep the conversation going by joining our Patreon community: https://www.patreon.com/wordinyourear Get bonus content on Patreon Hosted on Acast.
Welcome to the Indian Summer Sessions. The world's greatest podcast has placed its feet upon the warpath of joy, disclosure, and insight. Not ours, of course. That would be unseemly. We will instead place the Indian war bonnet upon our oddly-shaped heads and chat to interesting people. And ride Indian motorcycles (https://www.indianmotorcycle.com.au/offers/?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiA6aW6BhBqEiwA6KzDc8BpHO2oKBbtLbv_RzfQ2JIpwx8oTg6B8ygR44IdK2DM4E5RPQ_MxBoCgjQQAvD_BwE). And summer the shit out of ourselves.
Dawson has arrived at the film noir section of his film class, and why not -- he's living in one, what with femme fatale Eve mysteriously popping up and disappearing all the time, making him feel like a mark! He's just snapped off The Lady From Shanghai when he notices shady doings across the way at Grams's place, and wouldn't you know it: the person creeping around with a flashlight is none other than Eve, who immediately tries to deflect questions about what she was doing by hitting on Dawson. When that doesn't work, she threatens blackmail with the stolen PSAT. Dawson is so fired up that he does some actual PI work! Is the information he uncovers worth the trouble he gets in with Doug? Henry is still so smitten with Jen that Jack tries causing a date to break out spontaneously without Henry's having to ask Jen (since he is physically unable to speak to her). And when Joey finds out that her latest rejection sent Rob after Andie, she takes extreme measures to protect her friend. Tug not turning up for one (thankfully Simmo was ready to step in) and Indian motorcycles for another. Will Freido ever get to ride one? Not on Boris' watch, it seems. Achtung Gruuuselfaktor: Im Kloster Rühn spukt's!

With winter on the horizon, it's time to say a fond farewell to the 2024 garden season. But that's not to say there is still a tremendous amount of gardening to be done. Lucy has been revelling in her Fruit and Veg with Autumn being the crescendo of harvest time, and Saul willed an Indian Summer so his last few exotics could flower before being tucked away for some well deserved winter rest. Otherwise there are still lawns to cut, leaves to be raked and a lot of planning for 2025!This week, the duo turn their heads towards garden clothing, by deliberating whether or not it's possible to turn off your professional gardening head when at home in your own garden (Lucy reveals that it is, but only Ursula Andress reveals herself in a bikini, on a beach, in Dr No - we promise, that WILL make sense). Lucy does sharpen up her look, temporarily, by donning her gladrags for the Garden Media Guild Awards, at the Savoy, no less. She sups sparkling wine, basks in the glory of her gardening friends, and generally has a jolly good time. Saul, in the meantime, is fending off vast Dutch flights of pigeons... This week saw a northerly, artic blast hit the UK, and for lots of people their gardens got covered in Snow. Lucy and Saul weren't the only ones donning their thermals, mittens and garden jumpers, as conditions outside turned decidedly wintery. But what do gardeners get up to when it's cold and many jobs are impractical? Well in fact there is quite a lot to be getting on with as we get ready for the warmer dreams of Spring. Pruning, greenhouse work, collecting seed and maybe an extra cup of tea or two, all feature as the Talking Heads pair thoroughly prepare themselves for a few months of less clement weather. No surprises for assuming that it's grow your own related - and in this episode she explains exactly what's in it. With Summer behind us and the touch of Autumn on the horizon, it's time to say a fond and lengthy farewell to the 2024 garden season. But that's not to say there is still a tremendous amount of gardening to be done. Lucy will be revelling in her Fruit and Veg as Autumn is the crescendo of harvest time, and Saul will be willing an Indian Summer so his last few exotics can flower before tucking them away for some well deserved winter rest. Otherwise there are still lawns to cut, leaves to be racked and a lot of planning for 2025!The final half term of the year is over, with weather that seems to have lost the fact that it's meant to be 'changeable' - a grey, murky sheet of cloud seems to have descended on the UK and it's not budging. But at least it's been dry and that means the Talking Heads pair can get out and start the Autumn clear-up, mow those ever-growing lawns, plant garlic, sow seeds and take cuttings - it's that time of year where one garden season collides with another. Also Lucy takes us back to her trip north of the border and a visit to Benmore Gardens, whereas the least said about Saul's half-term experience the better!Instagram Links:Lucy lucychamberlaingardensTwitter links:Saul @GardeningSaulIntro and Outro music from https://filmmusic.io"Fireflies and Stardust" by Kevin MacLeod (https://incompetech.com)License: CC BY (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/)Support the show
Warwick poet and musician D.K. Mckenzie presents excerpts from his spoken word and music podcast, The Poe Underground, in a Warwick Radio exclusive. In this episode, hear easily-consumed, original music and the poem September Midnight by Sara Teasdale and a suite of poems called Noir Night by D.K. Mckenzie. September Midnight Lyric night of the lingering Indian Summer, Shadowy fields that are scentless but full of singing, Never a bird, but the passionless chant of insects, Ceaseless, insistent. The grasshopper's horn, and far-off, high in the maples, The wheel of a locust leisurely grinding the silence Under a moon waning and worn, broken, Tired with summer. Let me remember you, voices of little insects, Weeds in the moonlight, fields that are tangled with asters, Let me remember, soon will the winter be on us, Snow-hushed and heavy. Over my soul murmur your mute benediction, While I gaze, O fields that rest after harvest, As those who part look long in the eyes they lean to, Lest they forget them. Noir Night Drenched sidewalks Neon lights blaze the night and then Jazz Takes over the shadows Dim candles burn over On that loose night While that smooth rain drops in Uninvited and unrestrained Mark the cars Mark the walls With those liquid clouds Now A band of fire trucks Races away towards the womb of the boulevard As that lonesome jazz plays As that tenor sax does play This is the type of music that must take place in heaven When wet streets reign and street lamps illuminate the desperate puddles below The bruised man With his sad horn Blasts and Wails Until the walls of night Vanish and the final hour of night Reaches its maximum limit Welcome to the African night Where jazz rules and drizzles Little nibbles of hurt, joy, and class On your soul All over your aching heart Let the jazz infuse you Let the warm jazz move in and through you Let the jazz compel you To ponder the enveloping shadows Visit The Poe Underground website. The rain is continuous in the west, so Lucy tries to tempt him into a move East where the sun is always shining. That doesn't mean the gardening is put on hold as the Talking Heads Pair continue with the tasks of winterising the garden, clean those corners of the greenhouse (a good umbrella on rainy days!) and slowly getting on top of all the yearly growth that now needs removing. Also some sad news about the death of Jim Mcoll - a titan of Scottish horticulture - and Saul gets chased by Wasps. We've been busy when not being afflicted, and our main focus for the past few days has been in the greenhouse (dodging the rain mostly) to get them ready for their winter 'cost' of overwintering, propagating and protecting us poor gardeners. Lucy also revels in her trip to the Great Dixter Autumn Plant Fair, and we look at some of the work we've both being doing on our respective RHS Plant Committees.Instagram Links:Lucy lucychamberlaingardensTwitter links:Saul @GardeningSaulIntro and Outro music from https://filmmusic.io"Fireflies and Stardust" by Kevin MacLeod (https://incompetech.com)License: CC BY (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/)Support the show
