In episode 10 we review The Reckoners Board game based on the acclaimed best seller The Reckoners Book series. We rate the game and we decide if is better as solo or cooperative!
When I was younger I watched ‘Dawn of the Dead’ and thought it would be sort of fun to barricade oneself in an abandoned shopping mall; playing with all the fun stuff, trying on all the clothes and generally running wild; while a band of flesh eating zombies lurks outside. Of course ‘I am Legend’ ruined that fantasy with zombies that could run and all of a sudden I was off the zombie band wagon. Tiny Epic Zombies is a game that puts the fun back into the undead wanting to eat your brains. Join us as we review the game that proves even my mum is more likely to survive a zombie apocalypse than I am. Liz and Jeremy are back! The creative minds behind Jambalaya Plays Games (https://jambalayaplaysgames.com/) and Beyond Solitaire (http://www.beyondsolitaire.net/) are here to share about their continuing and terrible KS acquisition disorders! For the Kickstarter preview this week, we talk about a game that's already out and whose expansion is (or, at least, should be) live as we drop the episode - Expedition (4:17). It's a card-base RPG that has an app, as well as tons of fan-created content. These are not things that every gamer looks forward to! They break down whether this project integrates those things in ways that folks might find appealing. We then turn to some recently delivered games. Jeremy tells us about Sailing Toward Osiris from Daily Magic Games (13:03), a gateway-level worker placement game from the same publishing house as the Valeria line of games. Liz then shares about End of the Trail (18:54), a clever little card game with some bluffing and negotiation that also has a solo mode. Finally, for our main event, Jason lets everyone know what he thought of Tiny Epic Zombies (23:25) while Jeremy pitches in with his opinions about the overall Tiny Epic project.

Welcome back to our special Preview Series, the show where Kickstarter designers and project managers answer all of your questions about their projects. We hope you get everything you need to know so that you can make an informed decision about whether a KS project is worth your hard earned cash. Today, we are happy to chat the publisher and designer of one of the most popular, family friendly projects currently on Kickstarter, which is Tiny Epic Zombies. Scott Almes and Michael Coe share their stories about the origin of TEZ, design goals, ITEMeeples, use (or perhaps overuse) of the zombie theme, and much more. Also, as of this episode, Every Night is Game Night is now a part of the Dice Tower Network. We are very happy to share this episode with a new audience as an introduction to our content. Please check out our regular series of episodes as well, including our big Year End Award Show that will release this coming Friday, 2/2.
Host Tim Jennette (Metal Meeple), and co-hosts Matt RoBear and Eric Ledford begin the show with a few first impressions for the board games: Sentient (Renegade Games Studios), Vast (Leder Games), and Grand Austria Hotel (Mayfair Games) After that they talk about bad color palettes in games and the frustrations they can cause, discuss digital board games and Tabletop Simulator, then finish the show off with a TON of random questions! Other games and topics briefly discussed in this episode: Monopoly Cheat Bot, Tiny Epic Zombies kickstarter, Century Golem Edition, Tower of Madness, Final Fantasy 15 Pocket Edition.
Fresh off a ton of gaming, our hosts start out with some newly played games. Jeff used the new expansions to conquer the Mystic Vale, Zach attempted to be a steel baron in Stockpile, and Adrian watched his planet explode in Sol: Last Days of a Star. Jeff gives a bloody minute update then moves onto some news. In News, Twilight Imperium 4 gets an official playmat, BGG gets DDOS’D, and clue mike get remade. In kickstarters, Hate, Home on LaGrange, CharacTable, Nemesis, and Tiny Epic Zombies go active. A couple emails and some BGG feedback closes out the show. 00:00:27 - Intro Banter! This week we talk about those people that get a little to emotional during the game. Those that throw pieces or get mad at friends in real life for making in game decisions. But first we make a huge announcement (huge to us anyway) - and no, it's not that Kitty's given birth yet, but that's coming soon. After this announcement, Chris talks about Tiny Epic Zombies, his Kickstarter of the week and get to some feedback from our last episode. Links we've promised...
