An exotic mix of new and challenging ideas for Dungeons & Dragons from a variety of creators, shaped by editor Tim Kask. Introducing options for Psionics, Demons, Artifacts, and Druids as a playable class. Plus a super-detailed segment-breakdown approach to movement and combat. How much of it stood the test of time, how much do we use, and what approaches would we take to the same problems at the time?

The MLB season is upon us and we have tons of topics from Opening Day, False Opening Day, and the rest of the week. Freddie Freeman's got a great new outfit, the ABS challenge system is already producing hilarious moments, and we talk about some of the new ballpark food listeners got at games. Tomorrow we'll be releasing our Wach Party episode on The Matrix we recording with Bobby Wagner from Tipping Pitches.
The road to the outpost doesn't stay quiet for long.As the party breaks camp and pushes through the frozen woods, the echoes of Norvale still linger—howls in the distance, memories that refuse to fade. Hours into their journey, screaming cuts through the trees, pulling them off the road and straight into danger.
The dead aren't finished with them yet.At the edge of the ruined chapel, steel finally meets bone. Ghouls charge from the darkness, skeletons scatter across the grounds, and the party is forced into a brutal, chaotic fight where every second matters. Stakes fly. Blades bite. Eldritch energy tears through rotting bodies as the rain slicks the battlefield beneath their feet.
Rev up those engines! No, we haven't decided to cover motor racing instead...but WCW decided to branch out into monster truck competition of all things at Halloween Havoc 1995! (I guess they got spooked by not having a big spinning wheel last show, so decided to have 8 of them.) What results is one of WCW's most infamous shows, which takes place at the heights of the Dungeon of Doom angle and dives hard into a strange mix of lunacy and melodrama. Monster trucks! Explosions! A rooftop plunge! Longtime foes teaming up! Relationship tension! Betrayals by the armful! Mystic rites! Eldritch signs! Plus: The Yet-ay! For all this and more...let's go to the ring!Music by Michael Gary Brewer at https://www.instantmusicnow.com/Follow us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/LetsGo2theRing/
Submission guidelines can be found at http://www.TallTaleTV.com ---- About Tall Tale TV ---- Hi there! My name is Chris Herron and I'm an audiobook narrator. In 2015, I suffered from poor Type 1 diabetes control which lead me to become legally blind for almost a year. The doctors didn't give me much hope, predicting an 80% chance that I would never see again. But I refused to give up and changed my lifestyle drastically. Through sheer willpower (and an amazing eye surgeon) I beat the odds and regained my vision. During that difficult time, I couldn't read or write, which was devastating as they had always been a source of comfort for me since childhood. However, my wife took me to the local library where she read out the titles of audiobooks to me. I selected some of my favorite books, such as the Disc World series, Name of the Wind, Harry Potter, and more, and the audiobooks brought these stories to life in a way I had never experienced before. They helped me through the darkest period of my life and I fell in love with audiobooks. Once I regained my vision, I decided to pursue a career as an audiobook narrator instead of a writer. That's why I created Tall Tale TV, to support aspiring authors in the writing communities that I had grown to love before my ordeal. My goal was to help them promote their work by providing a promotional audio short story that showcases their writing skills to readers. They say the strongest form of advertising is word of mouth, so I offer a platform for readers to share these videos and help spread the word about these talented writers. Please consider sharing these stories with your friends and family to support these amazing authors. Subscribe, Rate, & Review on YouTube • Spotify • Apple PodcastsThis week I talk with Jamie Curcio to ask, whom do we serve? Who gives us power, and to whom do we give ours? Where does that power come from? To whom do we sell our stories? We explore the world behind the world, linking Jamie's writing and game world-building in the domain he calls myth punk, and the equally Eldritch complex systems wicked problem of climate action.Studying that link, we can trace the outlines of emergent 21st Century religions — the reinterpretation of axial traditions suited to the digital era, the metamodern revival of land-based animistic traditions, and even weirder novel forms that arise at the end of one world and the effloresence of many others.✨ Jamie's LinksFallen Cycle Podcastmodernmythology.net“Investing In The Unknown”“The Cascade” Part 1, 2, 3Tales From When I Had A Face: B&W EditionTales From When I Had A Face info page✨ Offer Support + Join The Scene• Become a patron on Substack or Patreon• Make a tax-deductible donation to Humans On The Loop• Invite me to work with you as an hourly consultant or advisor on retainer• Join the Holistic Technology & Wise Innovation and Future Fossils Discord servers• Join the Future Fossils Facebook group• Buy the books we discuss from my Bookshop.org reading list• Buy original paintings and prints or commission new work• Tip me with @futurefossils on Venmo, $manfredmacx on CashApp, or @michaelgarfield on PayPal• Buy the show's music on Bandcamp — intro “Olympus Mons” from the Martian Arts EP & outro “Sonnet A” from the Double-Edged Sword EP✨ Chapters1. When a young man and a princess fall in love, the King will only give permission for them to marry if the young man brings him three golden hairs from the head of the Demon of Eldritch. Will he succeed?
How do we look upon the unimaginable injustices and prejudices of the past with contemporary eyes without contemporary judgements? That's what Patreon witch, Ben, asked us a few short weeks ago. And we present to you one of the strangest figures of the 20th century: Howard Poopinmeyer Lovecraft. Generally regarded as a weirdo racist with darkness inside his heart; how did this near shut-in conceive of such a universe as the Cthulhu Mythos? And how did it survive today to be one of the most well known horror franchises? Are there worshipers of Cthulhu in our world and what is the mean of Iä! Iä! Cthulhu fhtagn!? This week on Rational Security, Alan and Quinta were joined again by Brookings Senior Fellow and Lawfare Senior Editor Molly Reynolds to talk over the week's national security news, including:“The 702nd Time's the Charm?” Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act was originally set to expire on December 31, 2023. But somehow, Congress has managed to keep kicking the can down the road—and we're once again in the middle of an argument about whether and to what extent the legislature should reform the bulk surveillance authority. How did we end up here, and is there any indication that Congress will manage to pass a lasting reauthorization in some form this time around?“Magic Mike.” Speaker of the House Mike Johnson's troubles don't stop with FISA, however. He's also tangled up in a prolonged dispute with his caucus over the U.S. aid to Ukraine—which is becoming a matter of rapidly increasing urgency, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warning that his country “will lose the war” if the aid is not approved. Johnson now says he'll put his own aid package on the table, still tying that aid to another tranche of aid to Israel. But will the House actually vote this time, or is this just another head fake?“Finally, We Can Talk About Linux.” A few weeks ago, a single software engineer alerted the world to an alarming discovery: malicious code inside a key piece of Linux software that, had it gone undetected, could have caused a catastrophic cyberattack. What on earth actually happened here? And what could stop it from happening again? For object lessons, Alan recommended an adorable giraffe growth chart for keeping track of your child's height. Quinta took a cue from Molly and endorsed a podcast by a local NPR affiliate—“Lost Patients,” a series about mental health care from KUOW and the Seattle Times. And Molly shared a story about misprinted pens from the Clinton impeachment trial, as told in Peter Baker's book "The Breach."Other references from this week's show:A chart explaining how dark it gets during a total solar eclipseBruce Schneier's Lawfare article about the XZ Utils backdoorTo receive ad-free podcasts, become a Lawfare Material Supporter at www.patreon.com/lawfare.
