This week we look at a big game. S.E.T.I.: Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence is a game about trying to find alien life forms through science and exploration. The science and exploration portion is based on pretty darned real science. This is a really cool game by Tomáš Holek and published by Czech Games Edition. With simple rules, this game has a complex set of mechanics that are simple to understand because of how well the integrate with the theme. S.E.T.I. (BGG, CGE)

It was like herding cats. As soon as you put one kitten down, the two nearest to it moved further away. The same when you tried to add a cat to the bundle of feline fluff. Some of the cats and kittens even decided to jump off the quilt completely. It was impossible to get everyone on there at the same time. Cosa c'entrano i denti d'oro con il freddo? Ok, quasi quattrocento episodi e ancora non avete capito niente: il DucaConte non deve spiegazioni a nessuno, tantomeno ai tavoli crepati dai suoi pugni. In realtà, Ale è l'unico che va a procacciare del cibo, perché essendo di base un animale notturno si trova bene con i predatori. Quindi, mentre il freddo e il gelo sferzano le lande desolate, le persone si rifugiano attorno ai loro vezzosi focolari mentre noi siamo qui, con tre titoli che sapranno scaldare le vostre anime perdute, ma soprattutto avranno cura di far fluttuare leggiadra la vostra mano in direzione della carta di credito, togliendovi il pesante fardello di decidere da soli quali regali di natale acquistare. From the mist of Lake Titicaca, eight children of Inti and Mama Quilla stepped onto the high plains, their feet brushing the grass and waking the land itself. As their journey continued, the mountains claimed some of them, caves swallowed others, until only one final pair held the golden rods. By then, they had taught the first clans who had accompanied them to weave, shape clay, carve terraces into the mountainside and coax life from reed and soil.
