Frank is joined by Kyle and Scott for a packed roundtable on Gamescom highlights, World of Warcraft Midnight reveals, and a friendly debate on brand events versus trade shows. The crew breaks down Hollow Knight Silksong hype, Fallout Season 2's New Vegas vibe, a surprise standout in Lego Batman, and how Blizzard's housing and three raids at launch could reshape the way we play. They wrap with network updates and weekly recommendations. Timestamps and Topics 00:00: Introduction and panel lineup 00:30: Question of the week — fictional foods from pop culture 03:01: News of the week — Gamescom overview 03:37: Hollow Knight Silksong release window and gameplay hopes 06:02: Warhammer 40K love plus Dawn of War memories 08:16: Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 concerns, design shift, and dev changes 15:56: Resident Evil 9 trailer reactions and expectations 16:57: Fallout Season 2 trailer — New Vegas sights and more of The Ghoul 18:24: Lego Batman Legacy of the Dark Knight looks like a true Arkham style entry 20:34: World of Warcraft Midnight cinematic first reactions — Silvermoon, Lor'themar, Zalatath 26:31: Who were the light aligned warriors and how that reveal could have landed 30:15: Midnight features — three raids at launch, eight dungeons, delves, prey system, outdoor play 31:45: Why multiple smaller raids can help modern raiders 34:19: Where each host plans to spend time — raiding, delving, housing 35:30: Player housing deep dive — free placement, neighborhoods, profession recipes in old zones 41:49: Professions and transmog updates make old content matter again 42:49: Demon Hunter Devourer spec talk and leveling plans 46:23: Built in raid tools and quality of life changes 46:41: Brand events versus trade shows — BlizzCon immersion or Gamescom reach 55:14: How activations bridge both worlds and keep hype alive 58:02: What Blizzard could do next and a brainstorm on venue layout 01:04:18: Network news — Challenge Accepted updates and more from the Geek Freaks crew 01:06:07: Weekly recommendations — Hollow Knight, Dawn of War, Cowboys doc 01:13:47: Sign off Key Takeaways Hollow Knight Silksong finally feels real with fresh footage and a near term release window that has fans buzzing. Fallout Season 2 leans into New Vegas energy and looks ready to give Walton Goggins even more to chew on. Lego Batman Legacy of the Dark Knight plays like a full Arkham style experience in a lighter package. World of Warcraft Midnight lands with a striking Silvermoon set piece and a clear villain in Zalatath while sparking questions about the light aligned reinforcements. Midnight launches with three raids, eight dungeons, delves, and a prey system that targets you in the open world for dynamic encounters. Housing is fully free form with place anywhere decoration, neighborhood vibes, and recipes scattered across old zones and dungeons, which brings back legacy professions and exploration. Built in raid tools and UI polish aim to raise the floor for everyone, not just add on users. Brand owned shows like BlizzCon deliver clarity, atmosphere, and community rituals. Trade shows give reach and variety but can dilute focus. Memorable Quotes “Hollow Knight Silksong got a release date. I am beyond excited.” “Lego Batman is straight up a new Arkham game. Who knew that would be the most complete Batman experience.” “Lor'themar finally got his moment to be the badass I always wanted him to be.” “Three raids at launch is a return to a cadence that actually fits how people play now.” “Housing should pull you back into old Azeroth and make those zones feel alive again.” Call to Action Enjoyed the episode? To enemies they appear as terrifying and sinister figures in black power armour and skull-visaged helmets. Each Chapter has its own unique cult, which is often thousands of years old. As these cults often predate the rise of the Ecclesiarchy, the Chapter cults are not simply facets of the common Imperial Cult. While the Ecclesiarchy and its lay followers worship the Emperor of Mankind as a deity, several Chapter cults regard him as merely a brilliant and inspirational man, though with scarcely less reverence. As in all things, this view of the Emperor's divinity, or lack thereof, varies from Chapter to Chapter. The chapter's own Primarch is also a major part of the Chapter's specific cult, revered as much as the Emperor.Support the show

The agents made their way toward the Jumentierre Estate, and found improvised Valkyrie fliers that would give the Crimson Brothers advantage in the fight. She sent data from a nearby cogitator to CLO53T, who confirmed that Talos Ivo was meant to be on one of the ships, but when the Judge and their seconded Arbitrators shots at the Hereteks, the servo skull swarm suddenly broke their surveillance pattern and set their sights on the agents. Featuring players Del Borovic, Guy Bradford, Josh Halbot, and Tyler Hewitt, and Dungeon Master Ryan LaPlante. Enjoying Agents of the Inquisition?- Consider becoming a Patron of Dumb-Dumbs & Dice for as little as $1 a month and gain access to a ton of extra BTS fun (https://www.patreon.com/dumbdumbdice)- Buy merch on our website (https://dumbdumbdice.com/)- Watch us on YouTube (https://youtube.com/@dumbdumbdice)- Follow us on Instagram (https://instagram.com/dumbdumbdice)- Follow us on Facebook (https://facebook.com/dumbdumbdice) Artwork by the brilliant Del Borovic- Website & Portfolio (https://delborovic.com/)- Twitter (https://twitter.com/deltastic)

Sometimes this is due for necessity for resources, but more often than not it is an “enemy of my enemy” situation. There are many threats to the galaxy as a whole, and some are more all-consuming than others. Though there have been instances of Xenos and Humanity allying in the face of Chaos, there is no more unifying enemy than the Tyranids. So, we are going to go over some notable times where the Imperium of Man decided to see the big picture and agree to a truce with some of the most prominent xenos in the galaxy.Support the show

In Warhammer 40K, they are the embodiment of rage, war, and slaughter. From their place as the greatest of the Blood God's daemons to legendary figures like Ka'Bandha, Skarbrand, and An'ggrath, these monsters dominate the battlefield with brute strength, supernatural fury, and weapons forged in hate. In this video, we dive deep into their origins, hierarchy, abilities, infamous battles, and the brutal lore that makes them both feared and—sometimes—underrated. Send us a textIn EPISODE TWO HUNDRED THIRTEEN (213) of the "LOOK OUT, SIR! 40K" Podcast, Phil and Dan discuss what they reckon is going on with Warhammer: The Horus Heresy 3. Like, why are people actually calling the thing “Horus Heresy Three Point Oh”? Is that really its name? Why is Warhammer 40K 10th Edition just “10th Edition” and not “Warhammer 40K Ten Point Oh”?! Who out there is making these rules? Nothing's sacred, it seems. But don't worry… we're not really going to talk about anything as entertaining as the Warhammer Community's inconsistent naming conventions within our cultural zeitgeist. Instead, we're going to do what all the other entirely predictable Warhammer content creators have done - speculate about a bunch of stuff we have no real insight into, other than our own speculation and what we reckon based on basically nothing. In short, people don't seem overly thrilled with The Horus Heresy Three Point Oh (at least not the people we know or listen to) so we're going to prattle on as if our blinkered perspective reflects a general consensus. I imagine it's not going to be a popular episode; it didn't feel especially great while we were recording it. Honestly, I don't think we know nearly enough to tackle these points, but for whatever reason, we've released it anyway. Having escaped the Flensing House, the band took a short rest to treat their wounds and regroup, now in the company of two Arbitrators and a soldier. The Judge's wounds were severe, but only after Morgan pressured him, did he allow Damien to heal him with powers from the warp. Solomon, meanwhile, noticed the Judge having a private conversation with Damien and returning healed, and so began to record evidence of his companions' tendencies towards heresy. Morgan showed her rosette to second the Arbitrators to their mission, and they began to make their way to the Jumentierre Estate, where they should finally find Talos Ivo.

For the 175th episode of Another Pass, we had to talk about a cult classic so cultish and such a classic that it demanded two separate panels! That's right! For a discussion on Starship Troopers, Case and Sam are joined by John Lestrange (The History Wizard), Samantha Perez, Keith Lehtinen, and Mitch Punpayuk! Would you like to know more? Music by Vin Macri and Matt Brogan Podcast Edited by Sophia Ricciardi Overview Episode 175 of 'Certain POV's Another Pass' podcast explores Starship Troopers, addressing its satirical elements and impact on audiences, featuring two distinct panels. Personal viewing experiences highlight how initial interpretations of the film changed over time, with multiple guests recognizing the underlying satire. The film's satirical intent often missed by audiences; Poe's Law indicates difficulty in distinguishing extreme satire from genuine claims without clear indicators. Elements of fascism illustrated in the United Citizen Federation's military service requirements and portrayal of authority figures with war injuries. Propaganda within the film includes false flag operations, demonstrating dehumanization of 'bugs' and justifying violent military actions. Johnny Rico's character illustrates an alt-right pipeline, showing the process of radicalization through military indoctrination and societal pressure. Significant differences between the original book and movie adaptation noted, including a shift in character motivations and depictions of technology. Production challenges included injuries during boot camp training and instances of disrupted filming, showcasing the difficulties faced by the crew. Cultural impact acknowledged, as Starship Troopers influenced franchises like Starcraft and Helldivers, with modern audiences resonating with its themes. New adaptations are in development, including a Sony project directed by Neil Blomkamp, indicating ongoing interest in the Starship Troopers franchise.   Notes ️ Episode Introduction & Format (00:01 - 02:51) Episode 175 of 'Certain POV's Another Pass' podcast discussing Starship Troopers as a movie that overcame adversity. Two-panel format with different guest combinations to cover extensive discussion topics. First panel features Case Aiken, Sam Alicea, John Lestrange, and Samantha Perez focusing on sociological themes. Second panel includes Case Aiken, Sam Alicea, Keith Lehtinen, and Mitch Punpayuk discussing filmmaking aspects. Personal Experiences with Starship Troopers (04:08 - 16:01) Case Aiken saw it at age 13 in 1997, initially missed satirical elements, took it as straightforward action film. Sam Alicea watched at 16-17, uncomfortable with bugs but recognized something 'off' about the film. John Lestrange first viewing at age 7 when released, watched for first time yesterday with Holocaust studies background. Samantha Perez saw chopped TV versions as teenager, recently rewatched with fresh perspective. Keith Lehtinen was 14 when released, became aware of actors through this film, Dina Meyer was first crush. Mitch Punpayuk saw at 15, bought DVD before owning DVD player, waited two years to watch it. Satirical Elements & Reception Analysis (20:09 - 29:48) Movie functions as fascist propaganda satire but audiences often missed the satirical intent. Poe's Law applies - satirical expressions of extremist views indistinguishable from actual extremist views without clear indicators. 1997 timing problematic for satire reception - post-Cold War, pre-9/11 context limited audience understanding. Director Paul Verhoeven grew up in Nazi-occupied Netherlands, assumed audience familiarity with fascist themes. Susan Sontag's 'Fascinating Fascisms' (1975) referenced - Nazi ideal of 'brave, pretty and stupid' Aryan forces. ️ Fascist Society Elements (24:14 - 01:01:13) United Citizen Federation requires military service for citizenship and voting rights. All adult authority figures shown with missing limbs or severe scarring from military service. 14 characteristics of fascism present but modified - notably lacks typical gender hierarchy/sexism. Reproduction licensing system makes having children difficult for non-citizens. Public flogging and televised executions as standard punishments. Bug War Propaganda Analysis (30:42 - 40:12) Buenos Aires meteor attack potentially false flag operation rather than bug weapon. Mormon colony massacre on bug territory used as justification despite humans being invaders. 'Would you like to know more?' segments function as in-universe propaganda reels. Children encouraged to stomp bugs in disturbing propaganda scene. Brain bug capture presented as victory but war clearly being lost. ‍️ Character Development & Military Pipeline (51:47 - 01:00:16) Johnny Rico represents alt-right pipeline - young man radicalized through military indoctrination. Carmen Ibanez portrayed as ambitious, prioritizing military career over relationships. Dizzy Flores changed from male character in book to female love interest. Carl Jenkins represents military intelligence, disappears into classified operations. Sergeant Zim and Lieutenant Rasczak serve as father figures in military structure. Book vs Movie Adaptation (23:13 - 28:17) Originally titled 'Bug Hunt at Outpost 7' before being adapted to Starship Troopers. Director didn't finish reading Heinlein's book, called it 'too boring'. Mobile Infantry in book wore powered armor with jump jets, removed due to budget/wire work complexity. Bugs more technologically advanced in book, movie presents them as purely biological. Buenos Aires not Rico's hometown in book, major plot change for personal motivation. Production Challenges & Behind-the-Scenes (39:34 - 07:35) Cast underwent intensive boot camp training, Casper Van Dien and Dina Meyer sustained injuries during filming. Intoxicated crew member mentioned bomb on flight, disrupting production travel. Pre-visualization test at Vasquez Rocks convinced TriStar to fund after Waterworld concerns. 15-foot practical ship models used alongside CGI for space scenes. Starship Trooper armor reused in multiple productions including Power Rangers, Firefly, Planet of the Apes. Special Effects & Technical Aspects (08:52 - 06:24) Mix of practical and CGI effects particularly effective for bug creatures. Netflix 4K viewing shows quality variations, some scenes appear grainy especially green screen backgrounds. Brain bug close-ups noted as particularly disturbing and well-designed. Space scenes generally poor quality except for specific flight sequences. Cultural Impact & Legacy (14:18 - 17:26) Starcraft, Warhammer 40K, and Helldivers directly influenced by Starship Troopers aesthetics. Five-movie franchise plus Roughnecks CGI TV series expanded universe. Modern resonance with current political climate makes satirical elements more apparent. Gif culture frequently references film during political tensions. Cast & Casting Decisions (17:18 - 21:57) Unknown actors cast intentionally to look 'authentically young' but appear older due to training. Mark Wahlberg and Matt Damon auditioned for Rico role. Dina Meyer originally read for Carmen, chose Dizzy role instead. Neil Patrick Harris commentary recorded pre-How I Met Your Mother fame. Character actors include Amy Smart, Seth Gilliam, Timothy Omundson in small roles. Audience Reception & Box Office (15:07 - 20:09) Test audiences disliked Carmen character, preferred Dizzy. Critical reception missed satirical intent, even thoughtful reviewers uncertain. Box office made budget back but not considered major success. Cult classic status developed over time as satirical elements became more apparent. Thematic Analysis (34:39 - 51:47) Dehumanization through 'bug' imagery parallels historical genocidal rhetoric. Violence as societal foundation explicitly stated in film's philosophy. Military-industrial complex critique through endless war presentation. Youth radicalization process demonstrated through Rico's character arc. Future Adaptations (13:51 - 13:51) Sony developing new Starship Troopers adaptation directed by Neil Blomkamp. Helldivers movie also in development as spiritual successor.

From staffing one of Southern California's flagship Warhammer stores to managing a single-staffer shop, Adan shares insights on what it's really like behind the counter. What works, what doesn't, and how Games Workshop's retail model functions on the ground floor all get covered in this honest and informative segment. Whether you're building out your games epilogues or just curious about what goes on in your local Warhammer store, this episode offers something for every hobbyist who loves the game behind the game. It's a look at the stories we tell after the battles are over—and the people who help keep the hobby alive in the real world. The armour would be heavy and cumbersome to wear but for the electrically motivated fibre bundles within the armour, as well as the methods of direct interface such as the Black Carapace, that replicate the wearer's movement and enhance his/her strength. The Sisters of Battle use a version of power armour designed for the human shape and size, known as Sororitas Power Armour. Sisters of Battle do not have the same Black Carapace as Space Marines do, as such some patterns of their power armour are not built with direct interface in mind, thus lacking the same benefits to strength and support systems integration.Power armour is also favoured for use by agents of the Inquisition. These suits of armour enhance the user's strength, allow for operation in hostile environments, and include auxiliary systems such as vox-links and auto-senses.With their vast wealth and resources, Rogue Traders are able to aqcuire power armour, whether by legal trade or illicit means on the black market, including the various armour patterns available to the Inquisition if they have the means to afford it.The Spyrer Hunters of Necromunda are known to use extremely advanced powered armors known as Hunting Rigs.Support the show

Dante is the oldest living Space Marine in the Imperium (excluding Dreadnoughts) and is held in awe by leaders of other Chapters, who can remember him being a famous commander when they were in the Scout Company.Support the show
