Bildtext: Gravkammaren tillhörande Nebenmaat i Deir el-Medina (TT219). Archaeologists have made an incredible discovery—the first royal tomb found in Egypt since King Tut's was uncovered over 100 years ago! This newly found tomb belongs to King Thutmose II, who ruled Egypt about 3,500 years ago. It was found in the famous Valley of the Kings in Luxor, the same place where Tutankhamun was buried in 1922. The entrance was first spotted in 2022, but more digging led experts to confirm it was the resting place of Thutmose II. Over time, the tomb had suffered heavy damage, likely from ancient floods and tomb robbers. Now, researchers are carefully studying it, hoping to learn more secrets about this forgotten pharaoh! In this very special episode, Detlef Schlich pays tribute to his long-time friend and fellow musician Vladimir “Vladi” Nowakowski, whose calm groove and deep warmth shaped countless lives and songs. From wild Nippes renovation days and legendary house parties, to unforgettable moments on stage at the Luxor with Zikato and the trembling energy of Paradisox Peacepack, Detlef revisits the laughter, the chaos, and the quiet strength that made Vladi unforgettable.Contributions from Marion and Phil Wolff, and Dirk Schlömer paint a portrait of a friend, colleague, and bass player whose sound continues to resonate — raw, honest, and full of heart. We listen to "You´ve got it". A song performed live in Berlin in 1987 by Phil & the Love with Vladi on Bass and backing vocals. The episode concludes with an unreleased Zikato track, “Hold High”, featuring Vladi on bass — a gift from Dirk to Arteetude and the WAW family.“Maybe he was right all along — we are still living inside a rehearsal.”Farewell to VladiA journey through laughter, chaos, and sound. From Cologne's Nippes to the Irish coast —This episode is a heartfelt goodbye to my dear friend Vladi, whose bass still hums quietly between the lines.Detlef Schlich is a rock musician, podcaster, visual artist, filmmaker, ritual designer, and media archaeologist based in West Cork. A unique study of the engineering and tools used to create Egyptian monumentsPresents a stone-by-stone analysis of key Egyptian monuments, including the statues of Ramses II and the tunnels of the SerapeumReveals that highly refined tools and mega-machines were used in ancient EgyptFrom the pyramids in the north to the temples in the south, ancient artisans left their marks all over Egypt, unique marks that reveal craftsmanship we would be hard pressed to duplicate today. Drawing together the results of more than 30 years of research and nine field study journeys to Egypt, Christopher Dunn presents a stunning stone-by-stone analysis of key Egyptian monuments, including the statue of Ramses II at Luxor and the fallen crowns that lay at its feet. His modern-day engineering expertise provides a unique view into the sophisticated technology used to create these famous monuments in prehistoric times.Using modern digital photography, computer-aided design software, and metrology instruments, Dunn exposes the extreme precision of these monuments and the type of advanced manufacturing expertise necessary to produce them. His computer analysis of the statues of Ramses II reveals that the left and right sides of the faces are precise mirror images of each other, and his examination of the mysterious underground tunnels of the Serapeum illuminates the finest examples of precision engineering on the planet. Providing never-before-seen evidence in the form of more than 280 photographs, Dunn's research shows that while absent from the archaeological record, highly refined tools, techniques, and even mega-machines must have been used in ancient Egypt.Christopher Dunn is a master craftsman and engineer with thirty-five years of experience. In the last twenty years, he has published a dozen magazine articles on his theories about ancient technology, including the much quoted Advanced Machining in Ancient Egypt in Analog.https://gizapower.com/Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/earth-ancients--2790919/support.

Hear about travel to Cairo, Egypt, as the Amateur Traveler talks to Neil Laird, TV producer and the author of the Prime Time Travelers Series, about his favorite city. This week's show is supported by the new Smart Travel Podcast. Travel smarter — and spend less — with help from NerdWallet. Check out Smart Travel here. Why should you go to Cairo? Neil says, "I've traveled to some 70 countries and I've been an international documentary  TV producer for 30 years. But anytime people ask me what is my happy place, what is the place that set me all off on this journey, it is Egypt. I've been enamored and fascinated by the ancient Egyptians and by the culture there for 30, 35 years, and Cairo is the gateway to that. I spent a lot of time on Luxor shooting films for National Geographic, Discovery Channel, and BBC. But Cairo is often overlooked because it's the noisy, chaotic city that you fly into and see the pyramids before you go see Luxor and the great ruins. And that's a shame because Cairo is a universe in itself." Here's the 7-day Cairo itinerary recommended by Neil: Day 1 – Zamalek (Gezira Island) Stay in Zamalek, the leafy island in the Nile – quieter, easier to acclimate. ... https://amateurtraveler.com/travel-to-cairo-egypt/ Learn more about your ad choices.
