Kindred The Family Soul, Also known as Kindred is an R&B/Neo Soul duo consisting of married couple Fatin Dantzler and Aja Graydon. They are a part of that wonderful NeoSoul sound that came from Philadelphia just like Jill Scott who actually discovered them and helped them to get signed. By 2003, they debuted their first CD "Surrender To Love" which included the hit song, "Far Away".  They followed that up in 2005 with a tribute CD to Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee, "In This Life Together" which produced one of my favorite songs "Where Would I Be Without You (The Question)"  They have been nominated for multiple awards and deserved each and every one! They are a powerful inspiration to couples and singles looking for love and their latest single "All My People" is speaking to an entire generation. Today, the stop by for a visit and Brunch In The Basement With JaVonne

Please join me this Thursday on “The Dedan Tolbert Show” as I welcome Kindred The Family Soul. Kindred is a vocal duo from Philadelphia consisting of husband and wife Fatin Dantzler and Aja Graydon. Both began as solo performers. Dantzler was born in Philadelphia and got his start in the music business writing songs for Pebbles and Bell Biv DeVoe. Graydon, from Washington, D.C., had a solo deal at the age of 15. The two united and began writing songs, but then married and started a family, necessitating the steady income of work outside the music business. After a time as an appliance salesman, however, Dantzler went back to trying to make it on the local scene. He and Graydon began performing at the Black Lily club, where they caught the attention of Jill Scott, who took them to her label, Hidden Beach Recordings. They were signed and spent the next two years working on their debut album, Surrender to Love, which was released in February 2003. Dantzler and Graydon, who recently added twin baby girls to their unit, expound on the ups and downs, compromises and sacrifices of a forever-blossoming relationship and growing family, on songs like the piano-laced “House of Love.” They dismiss the idea of a perfect union and address the art of controlling one's temper on “Pressure.” And while the couple step outside the box to address societal ills, including mention of “a tree in Jena” on “The Struggle,” Kindred is best when they stick to love songs like “Hey”, a mid-tempo ballad in the vein of their previous hits “Where Would I Be (The Question)” and “Far Away”. Despite sticking to the usual formula of black love poured over mellow-out tracks, The Arrival proves they haven't lost their ability to create an album that grooves and enlightens. Also on Thursdays show, I will be joined by Raphael Gentry CEO of Renaissance MultiMedia Group LLC. Raphael will discuss how the internet and cable networks like Comcast, are fast becoming an alternative option for aspir
