For the past several years Germany has been deconstructing their fossil fuel energy production and replacing it with far more expensive alternatives.  This has led to large increases in overall energy prices, and downstream increases in manufacturing costs. The consequences have been snowballing throughout 2025, while cheap competitive alternatives coming into the EU from China have compounded their problem.  Recently a survey of major industries was conducted in Germany to determine the forecast for 2026, the results are not good. Approximately half of the industrial sectors in Germany are anticipating job losses, cuts or layoffs this year. 22 out of 46 business associations are preparing to downsize their labor force.  Only 9 of the 46 are expected to increase hiring.   Job losses are expected in auto manufacturing, the textile sector, wood and paper fabrication.  Job gains are expected in aerospace, shipbuilding and defense production – i.e. the war machinery. When the largest and most developed industrial economy in Europe is pinning its economic survival on war machinery, a particular momentum is created.  It is never a good outcome for Europe when Germany becomes reliant on war to maintain employment. President Trump on Friday in a radio interview disclosed something which missed the attention of the US and global media. He let slip that a large land site had been knocked out by a strike from US forces in the Caribbean – however without specifying which country was hit (whether Venezuela or perhaps Colombia). o  According to the full remarks in context, the president said: “But every time I knock out a boat, we save 25,000 American lives. It’s very simple. And what’s happening is they’re having a hard time employment-wise, they can’t get anybody. And we just talked out, I don’t know if you read or you saw, they [Venezuela] have a big plant or a big facility where the ships come from. Two nights ago, we knocked that out. So we hit them very hard. But drugs are down over 97 percent. Can you believe it?” Some unnamed American officials suggested to the New York Times that the Commander-in-Chief was referring to a drug facility in Venezuela: Trump did not name the location of the facility, though American officials told the New York Times that the president was referring to a drug facility in Venezuela that was eliminated. The president's comment is the only report of such an attack. Security Guarantee From Trump A major point of disagreement remains security guarantees. Ukraine has been pushing maximalist demands for something akin to NATO Article 5 protections. It would be like getting all the benefits of being in NATO but without being a formal member of the Western military alliance. The Ukrainian side has revealed that President Trump had offered security guarantees for 15 years following a peaceful settlement, but Zelensky considered this much too short to protect from future potential Russian aggression. But in classic Zelensky fashion, he wants way more than this. Also, maximalist demands are something that European leaders have backed him on all along – and they may have even put him up to. According to The Wall Street Journal: Kyiv had asked for security guarantees to last up to 50 years after the end of the conflict during weekend discussions. Hoy investigaremos la vida de Valerie Jane Morris Goodall, más conocida como Jane Goodall, la Melody de ellos. Jane nació en Londres el 3 de abril de 1934, en una familia de esas que sólo conoce infojobs porque de vez en cuando los llaman de un número oculto para decirles que han recibido su currículum perfectamente, que si eso ya eso. Jane tenía una hermana, Judith, que nació el mismo día que ella pero 4 años después, que eso es como nacer el día de reyes, te roban un regalo porque “esto es pa las dos, ¿eh?” Su padre, Mortimer Herbert Morris-Goodall era un hombre de negocios, que es el eufemismo que se usa en la alta sociedad para decir que echaba a gente de sus casas para especular con la vivienda. Porque claro, hombre de negocios viste más. Su madre fue Margaret Myfanwe Joseph que escribía novelas para poder quitarse de enmedio y no tener que aguantar al padre. En total escribió la friolera de un libro, igualando la marca actual de nuestro amado líder Don Vilima. Cuando era chequetita le regalaron un chimpancé de peluche y eso desató en ella un gran amor por los animales, sobre todo los que tienen mucho pelo como por ejemplo el puma “Boomerang, boomerang, ¡VIVA LA NUMERACIÓN!”. Digo yo que viendo que eso funciona, me podrían haber regalao de chica el Monopoly y ahora me saldrían a mí los billetes como le salen marrones a Pedro Sánchez. Jane de jovencita estudió menos que Juanma Moreno pero como se llevó tantos años en África mirando cómo las monas le quitaban los piojos de los monitos, en 1965 la Universidad de Cambridge le otorgó un doctorado en etología, como a Belén Esteban que le dieron el carné de periodista por llevarse muchos años haciendo programas de calidad. Jane se llevó tanto tiempo en Tanzania que llegó cuando se llamaba Tanganica. También era primatóloga, destacando en este campo su estudio “Cuánto más primo, más me arrimo”. En 1969 se casó con un fotógrafo de National Geographic que se llevaba tor día haciéndole fotos a las monas quitándole los piojos a los monitos. De ese matrimonio nació su hijo Hugo y su título de baronesa, como la tarta que se tomaba tu tía el día de año nuevo que mandaba a tu primo con los pelos pegaos a la confitería porque había que recibir a la familia. En esta época tenía tó la cara de Miranda, la mujé de Julio Iglesias, y se cogió una coleta mu estirá con mucha colonia en el casco que le duró más que unas botas Panama Jack. En 1975 se divorció del barón y se casó con un político de Tanzania que era director de parques nacionales, porque a ella quería seguir mirando cómo las monas le quitaban los piojos a los monitos. Le dieron una jartá de premios pero los más chulos fueron, un cameo en los Simpsons, la Barbie inspirada en ella de Mattel el set 40530 de Lego con Jane mirando a una mona quitándole un paquete papas a un turista en el peñón de Gibraltar. Desgraciadamente nuestra querida Jane nos dejaba el pasado 1 de octubre de 2025 con 91 años, aunque ustedes siempre podrán recordarla cada vez que una madre escriba en el grupo de clase que en el colegio hay piojos o Don Vilima escriba otro libro.
