I ask the question, am I allowed to take steps to get better? This month's theme is “A Brave Healing,” which focuses on a deeper conversation that may lead us to the question, “Is it better to appear like one is doing well or actually doing well”? Today, we have a new guest, Dr. Carrie Johansson, to assist us in discussing this month's theme. "Asking for help is a power move. Former Mountain View Coach Killed in Apalachee Shooting Remembered Fondly A 'Reimagined' Mableton: Development Authority Revamped Mother and Son Open Cumberland Restaurant Plus, Bruce Jenkins sits down with Leah McGrath from Ingles Markets to discuss kombucha All of this and more is coming up on the Marietta Daily Journal Podcast, and if you are looking for community news, we encourage you to listen and subscribe! BREAK: CU of GA STORY 1: Former Mountain View Coach Killed in Apalachee Shooting Remembered Fondly Marquel Broughton, a Mountain View High School graduate and U.S. Military Academy alumnus, considers his former coach, Ricky Aspinwall, a true hero. Aspinwall, who had recently moved to Apalachee High, was tragically killed in a school shooting on Wednesday. Known for his dedication and impact on students and athletes, Aspinwall was remembered as a loving mentor and role model. He was a highly respected defensive coach and teacher, recognized for his contributions to Mountain View's football program and his genuine care for his students. His legacy is honored by those he inspired and mentored throughout his career. STORY 2: A 'Reimagined' Mableton: Development Authority Revamped Mableton Mayor Michael Owens, driven by his concerns about local blight and economic opportunities, has established the Mableton Development Authority (MDA) to boost economic growth. This new independent board replaces the underfunded South Cobb Redevelopment Authority. The MDA, funded by $100,000 annually from Mableton, will work closely with the Cobb Chamber of Commerce and its economic development arm to market the city and drive development projects. Key initiatives include revitalizing Veterans Memorial Highway and the Six Flags Entertainment District, and developing the Magnolia Crossing site. Owens envisions the MDA as crucial for transforming Mableton into a more vibrant, economically robust community. STORY 3: Mother and Son Open Cumberland Restaurant Robyn Thompson, CEO of Ashland's Kitchen, has opened a new restaurant in Cumberland with her son Jacob Higbee. Located on the ground floor of One Overton Park, Ashland's Kitchen offers a menu of seasonal, mostly scratch-made dishes for breakfast and lunch, including unique options like shakshuka, keto pancakes, and vegan “chicken” nuggets. Inspired by their global travels and Thompson's early love for cooking, the restaurant features comfort foods and creative salads, alongside a convenience store for quick snacks. Open Monday through Friday, Ashland's Kitchen aims to bring joy with its innovative food offerings and plans to expand catering and delivery options soon. We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.799.6810 for more info. We'll be right back Break: DRAKE STORY 4: Scamihorn Outraising Benson in Cobb School Board Race In the race for Cobb Board of Education's Post 1 seat, incumbent Republican Randy Scamihorn significantly outpaces Democratic challenger Vickie Benson in fundraising. Scamihorn has raised over $25,000, including significant contributions from the law firm Freeman Mathis & Gary and local nonprofits. In contrast, Benson has reported just $245.51 in recent filings, though she previously raised $1,065. Despite this disparity, Benson views her campaign as a fight for accountability rather than a fundraising competition. Both candidates will face off in the November election, with control of the school board potentially hanging in the balance. STORY 5: Marietta Schools to Host Town Hall Following Winder School Shooting Marietta City Schools will hold a virtual town hall on Thursday evening to address safety concerns following a deadly school shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder. The shooting, which resulted in at least four deaths and multiple injuries, has prompted Marietta Schools Superintendent Grant Rivera to offer a platform for addressing school safety questions. The webinar will be livestreamed from 8:30 to 9 p.m., and questions can be submitted beforehand via email. Cobb Schools Superintendent Chris Ragsdale also expressed gratitude for the efforts of school district police and first responders. The event will be available on the Marietta School District's website for later viewing. The answers in the show notes were written prior to the podcast, and the answers in the live podcast as we discussed these questions may differ somewhat or amplify the written materials in these show notes. We love your questions. Remember to send them to David@feelinggood.com. Ask David Questions for Today Bosley asks: My father can be very critical of my plans for the future. What's the best way to respond to him? Willie asks: I have a dating questions. Why do women keep ghosting me? Should they be more willing to work out differences with the Five Secrets of Communication? Marc asks: In your book, When Panic Attacks, you mentioned that sometimes people feel “trapped.” What should you do when you're struggling with this feeling? 1. Bosley asks: My father can be very critical of my plans for the future. What's the best way to respond to him? "To explain somewhat concisely, I just want to move to the nearest major city (Seattle) since I feel really really happy there. I also love volunteering for a specific organization and have some community there that I care about, and I feel very isolated having been away from for months. I'm willing to carry the load of all the work I would need to do to make it happen, and do a business training my dad wants me to complete. He has other thoughts. He looks down on volunteering and his thoughts on friends are simply that I can make new ones anyway. He is very aggressive and intimidating in his arguments, full of insults and many factually incorrect statements that are difficult to disarm on the fly. He shoots down the idea upon mention, so it's difficult to collaborate to find mutually beneficial solutions. He is a successful businessman, despite recent financial issues, and has a sort of strict plan for me that he has wanted me to follow, although I really don't feel this conflicts with his goals to have me run things in the future. I'm just worried since he has a long past of being emotionally abusive and of going back on his word. Plus, I just want some autonomy. In the end, it's his way or the highway. He says “You keep scheming and going down a twisted path instead of doing what I tell you.” David's reply I suggested he might complete the first four steps of the Relationship Journal so we could see how he's communicating with his dad. Here is Bosley's partially partially completed Relationship Journal (showing steps 1 to 4, but not 5.) Step 1 – S/he said: Write down exactly what the other person said. Be brief: You keep scheming and going down a twisted path instead of doing what I tell you! Step 2 – I said: Write down exactly what you said next. Be brief: What? Circle or bold the emotions S/HE might have been feeling Circle or bold the emotions YOU were feeling Sad, blue, depressed, down, unhappy Sad, blue, depressed, down, unhappy Anxious, worried, panicky, nervous, frightened Anxious, worried, panicky, nervous, frightened Guilty, remorseful, bad, ashamed Guilty, remorseful, bad, ashamed Inferior, worthless, inadequate, defective, incompetent Inferior, worthless, inadequate, defective, incompetent Lonely, unloved, unwanted, rejected, alone, abandoned Lonely, unloved, unwanted, rejected, alone, abandoned Embarrassed, foolish, humiliated, self-conscious Embarrassed, foolish, humiliated, self-conscious Hopeless, discouraged, pessimistic, despairing Hopeless, discouraged, pessimistic, despairing Frustrated, stuck, thwarted, defeated Frustrated, stuck, thwarted, defeated Angry, mad, resentful, annoyed, irritated, upset, furious Angry, mad, resentful, annoyed, irritated, upset, furious Other (specify) Other (specify) Step 3 – Good Vs. Bad Communication: Was your response an example of good or bad communication? Use the EAR Checklist to analyze what you wrote down in Step 2 Step 4 – Consequences: Did your response in Step 2 make the problem better or worse? Why? It probably made things worse. I came off dismissive, which probably confirmed for him that I automatically ignored any advice or direction that he gave me. I wasn't assertive in fear of escalating anger or just being shut down anyway, but that also maintains the status quo. I didn't, and typically don't, show a caring respectful attitude. This, I think, allows his anger to continue snowballing into more intensity. 2. Willie asks why women he's dating “ghost” him instead of working out the problems in the relationship using the techniques in your book, Feeling Good Together. Good morning, Dr. Burns! I hope you are doing well! I want to start off by saying that I love your books and they've played a massive role in changing my personality for the better. However, there is a question I struggle with. In feeling good together, you say that one can keep status quo, solve their problem, or walk away from a relationship. I lean very strongly on the side of always wanting to solve problems. However, at my age, most of girls I date err on the side of just walking away and this opens me up for unnecessary headache and pain. I don't know where to draw the line? My heart says that any two reasonable adults can always make a relationship work given that at least one wants to make things better and, unfortunately, this does not seem to be the case in my experiences. Your insight would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for taking the time! Best Regards, Willie David's reply Thank you, Willie, I'd love to use this as an Ask David question for one of the podcasts, if that's okay, using your first name or a fake name if you prefer. Here's the super short answer. I wrote a book on that exact topic called Intimate Connections. Essentially you probably need to learn a little more about how to “play the game” when dating. You'll see what this means when you read the book. Warmly, david Willie's Response: Good morning, Dr. Burns! Frankly, I was not expecting a response at all, much less as quick as it was. For this, I truly want to thank you for taking the time to do so. Secondly, it will be my honor if you do bring it up to your podcast. Please don't use my first name - I'd prefer staying anonymous. Please do let me know which podcast this will be so I can give it a listen as well. Lastly, thank you so much for referring me to your book. That will be my next read so I am super excited. If you have any other books which you believe are worth reading which will be beneficial in the dating world, corporate world, etc., please point me to those. I absolutely love your books and their effects on me have been immeasurable. Thank you! Willie I wrote back and suggested we could use the fake name Willie, as he wanted to remain anonymous, and he responded: Now that you say, Willie is definitely sexier! Question: when are you planning on doing the next episode with this question in it? I wouldn't want to miss it. Here was my response to “Willie.” We'll just read your question, and then provide opinions. My career in private practice has a majority of single individuals who were trying unsuccessfully to connect in the dating world. That's why I wrote that book, which is intensely personal as I was the biggest loser of all for a long time because I was a minister's son and never learned how to “play the game” or be a “bad boy.” But I learned from a friend who was a “hustler” when I was in medical school. I learned a tremendous amount, including that there is a game-playing phase in dating, and a time to be more serious, open and vulnerable. The biggest mistake men make is trying to get too serious when they should be playing the game. What's the game? Well, you'd know if you ever had or loved a cat. If you chase them enthusiastically, you force them to run away. You have to learn how to make them chase you. Many men are stubborn about this, and lamely insist, “But I shouldn't have to play the game!” My answer would be, “You don't! Especially if you don't want to get laid and have lots of ladies chasing you!” Warmly, david Willie's response This is extremely valuable to me. I never knew that you come from a religious background and I do too so I do want to ask you some more questions / share my experience. One pattern I am noticing is that either Muslim ladies have a lot of religious trauma or they have very strict conservative values - usually a combination of both. In the modern world, I try using dating apps and might get matched with someone 2-3 states away so usually we would hop on a FaceTime and the topic of religion almost always comes up. And, due to differing opinions, they just walk away which deeply upsets me because they make the false assumption that humans are snapshots in time i.e., opinions / perspectives don't change. In fact, a personal experience I would like to share with you. I was in a relationship for 1.5 yrs (long distance) and it just ended 1-2 months ago. Our intention was always to get married. However, a few weeks before breaking up with me, she basically said "oh you don't pray and I cannot even imagine my future husband not praying etc etc" and she ended things with me on that. I even tried using the 5 methods of effective communication to acknowledge and validate her opinions while simultaneously sharing mine but she was dead set and did not even want to think about working on problems. How could I "play the game" in such instances or over long distances? David's response Hi Willie, The principles of dating are the same in all cultures for the most part, and one rule is “Never chase a distancer.” So, when she switches to religion, you could use the listen skills subset of the Five Secrets, and buy in to what she's saying, WITHOUT arguing or presenting your own thinking. You can admire her, urge her to tell you more about her religious feelings and spiritual life, using liberal Thought and Feeling Empathy, and lots of Disarming Techniques, and Stroking, with Gentle Inquiry. You would NOT chase, or try to persuade, or argue, or defend yourself. Be totally admiring and other-centered at those times. If she says she wants to break up, you might say that you've been sensing some distance, and are relieved that she is doing that, because you, too, would like to date other women, but that the two of you can still be friends if she promises not to get romantically involved with you, and that you will be on the lookout for some really great guys she might want to date. This is a paradoxical approach, and it is an art form. And I can also tell you to date other women immediately, and the moment you find one you like better than her, she will find out, even if no one tells her, and she will likely want you back again. That's because of the Burns rule, which states: “People NEVER want what they CAN have; they ONLY want they CAN'T have!” Now, if you tell me this approach is phony, I would tell you that you're 200% right! And it's not only incredibly phony, it's amazingly effective! And a kinder word that “phony” might be to say that when someone starts pulling away, you have to switch into this style and strategic approach, and stop trying to be loving and sincere or logical, etc. Do NOT chase, simply open your hands and let go. It's the exact same strategy you might use to get close to a cat! Best, david Hi Willie, If you'd like, you can send me an example of what one of the Muslim ladies said to you, and exactly what you said next. Please select an interaction that didn't go well. Then I can analyze your response and suggest some alternative ways to respond in a dating situation. In fact, if you like, you can record it on the Relationship Journal that I've attached. Please fill in steps 1 through 4. Please do this right away as we record tomorrow. Best, david Hi Dr. Burns, I cannot even tell you how much these emails are already changing my outlook. I truly want to thank you for taking the time and responding to these. One thing that caught my eye is the paradoxical approach. I never thought about it. In my mind, I feel you should work on relationships / never let go but if letting go is working on it, then that is something I really need to do. I am attaching two copies of the Relationship journal. One dealing with the topic of drugs and one with prayer. One thing I will tell you is that I usually bring these topics up myself because, in my mind, I don't want to deceive anyone and get these big topics out of the way as early on as I can and I think I am making a mistake somewhere here. Thank you, again, for taking the time and responding to these emails! Looking forward to what you think about the topics of conflict I have been having! Best Willie

Best Willie
Introducing the Band:Your hosts Scot Bertram (@ScotBertram) and Jeff Blehar (@EsotericCD) are with guest Brad Birzer. Brad is the Russell Amos Kirk Chair in American Studies and Professor of History at Hillsdale College. He is also the co-founder of and senior contributor at The Imaginative Conservative, and the author of a number of books, including Neil Peart: Cultural (Re)Percussions. Find him online at bradbirzer.com or @bradleybirzer on Twitter.Brad's Music Pick: YesWell, the buses outside don't add much weight to the story in our heads we began in our last episode of Political Beats, so we're thinking we should go and write a punchline; thus, welcome to part two of our discussion of the great progressive rock band Yes, wherein we discuss their career from 1974's Relayer onward to the present day. (Be forewarned -- we pick and choose after the debacle of Union (1991). Fondly remembered: Talk, Keys To Ascension, Magnification and Fly From Here. Not so fondly remembered: erm, Open Your Eyes.)I could offer more prelude than that, but this is one episode where the music will do vastly more explaining than any written exegesis; Yes bounced back after Tales from Topographic Oceans with an album even more abstruse and outwardly difficult, yet light years more compelling. From that point onward and despite countless personnel changes -- up to and including swapping the "Video Killed the Radio Star" guys straight into their band -- the group maintained its unique sound and creative voice throughout the second half of the Seventies in a series of albums that age like casked scotch. (Check out the vigorous defenses of Tormato and Drama ye shall find herein!) Then the group collapsed after a disastrous 1980 tour and seemed to be over . . . until a South African guitarist/vocalist/songwriter named Trevor Rabin entered the picture. All this and much, much more is covered on an episode of Political Beats that spans from the mid Seventies all the way to the late Eighties without once pausing for breath. Afterwards, we take a breather here and there, but for now? Tempus fugit, my friends, so you should click, because we're off to the races, going for the one.
Vico Ortiz narrates a raucous space adventure rom-com with infectious energy. Host Jo Reed and AudioFile's Emily Connelly discuss the fun and thrills of this lively story. It's 2061, and Cleo and her three best friends—all scientists—sneak aboard to explore the neglected rocket PROVIDENCE I. Twenty years earlier, it failed to launch and its 203-person crew mysteriously vanished. But when Cleo inadvertently starts the dark matter engine, they're launched into a seven-year mission with only Billie, the prickly holographic computer, to guide them. Ortiz's considerable acting talents bring each character—human and otherwise—to life. They bounce between each voice with skill, making this lively story of friendship, queer romance, and interdimensional danger heaps of fun on audio. Join us and absorb the wisdom of modern sage Maya Tiwari as she shares insightful perspectives on how to connect to an authentic approach to spiritual practice or sadhana. Fondly called Mother Maya, spiritual pioneer Maya Tiwari is an international teacher of Ayurveda and the founder of the Wise Earth School of Ayurveda, the first of its kind in North America. Author of several bestselling books in Ayurveda and self-healing, she has been trained in the Vedas, Vedanta, Ayurveda, Sanskrit and Vedic Chants by Sri Swami Dayananda Sarasvati, and in Ashtanga Yoga and The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali by Dr. Narasimha Rao. Maya served for two decades as a Vedic monk, belonging to India's prestigious Veda Vyasa lineage. In 2010, she made the radical decision to renounce her monastic title. This decision was made, as she puts it, to “walk a simpler and more accessible life in service of the populations in need” which she continues to do to this day. Maya shares the journey from her early years in Guyana, abruptly contrasted with her arrival in the hustle of New York's fashion scene. We discuss her battle with ovarian cancer, which served as a catalyst for a monumental shift in her life's direction; an exploration of Vedic wisdom, the deeper connections between our health and our lineage, and the power of ancestral memories, which she believes carry both the weight of past traumas and the potential for holistic healing. Maya fondly recalls her disciplined studies in Rishikesh, India with Vedic scholar Sri Swami Dayananda Sarasvati, sharing the transformative effect of Sanskrit chanting and the purifying rituals that have been integral to her path of self-realization. Maya speaks of how we never teach what we don't need to learn ourselves. The complexities of healing from trauma, she insists, require a compassionate approach that honors the wisdom of our ancestors while discerning which aspects to carry forward on our unique path. Finally, we converge on the simple yet profound practices of self-love and ahimsa. Maya illuminates the path to tranquility, emphasizing the significance of pausing in our frenetic existence, the powerful simplicity of conscious breathing, creating an inner sanctuary amidst life's tumult, and the perennial wisdom of letting go. Maya established the Wise Earth School of Ayurveda in 1981, with the vision of restoring the long-lost Inner Medicine principles and practices of Ayurveda. Her global conferences and workshops have touched the life of more than 1 million participants. For thirty years, she has inspired and created change in human behaviour, through education, outreach, and service to humankind.mayatiwari.comLiked what you heard? Help us reach more people! Live from Studio G—in the heart of what's left of this great country—I'm Steve Gruber, fighting for you every day from the foxhole of freedom to defend what freedoms we have left—Thank you for being here—this is the Steve Gruber Show— AND Here are 3 big things you need to know this hour— Number One— There is a reason Joe Biden is not hitting Iran hard with his airstrikes—and it has to do with getting re-elected—I mean you cannot bomb the oil fields and have gas above $5 a gallon now can you? Number Two— Senator Mike Lee has released his dirty dozen on the terrible Ukraine-border bill—and Alejandro Mayorkis survives an impeachment attempt as Republicans fail the American people again —how pathetic! Number Three— The spineless leadership of the Republicans in the US Senate and the failing leadership of Republicans in the house will mean that someday soon we are going to look back on today—and remember it fondly— Why you ask? Because sadly, these days we are living in, will, in the not-too-distant future, be The Good Old Days— There is no real organized opposition anymore—the Democrats are well on their way to being in complete control of every lever in government—and the weak-willed feckless weasels that called themselves Republicans but were too often, nothing more than self-serving parasites will be the ones to blame— When this country slides completely over the edge into a complete socialist disaster—which we are in the process of right now—it will be the pontificating blowhards in Washington that will be fully to blame— But in very predictable fashion—they will of course take no responsibility at all—no, they will rationalize, equivocate and point the finger at everyone else—they will be blameless— They will cash their checks and try to live long enough to enjoy it—BUT make no mistake these are the good old days and real problems, like you have never seen, are not far away— And the reasons are clear and simple—first there is not an organized opposition party—the Republicans cannot even get on the same page to close the border— I was going to lay out a list of what will be gone in just the next ten years—and I was going to put the border on the list—BUT that my friends, is already gone and its gone by design—the flood of millions of illegal aliens not only into America but into all the English speaking Western nations is clearly be design—and there is obviously no plan to stop it—now or ever— We are entering the middle stages of a post-Constitutional America—that is obvious when the Secretary of Homeland Security can come to Congress and openly lie without any consequences at all—and claim the border is secure—when everyone knows it's not—we have seen the number of illegals coming into the country in just 3 years—sky-rocket from 400,000 a year to 3.2 million or more—an increase of more than 8 times—and its only accelerating— I remember listening to Dr Michael Savage preaching for years about language, borders and culture—and thinking, well, that will take decades—and yet here we are—well ahead of schedule! The America we all grew up in, is already gone—and soon it will be a distant memory at best— As they say, the die is cast—and this is the path we are on—and I am sorry but today I am not optimistic that these Republican clowns have any idea how to get us back on track— They have no plan, no principals and no path forward—they are utterly useless right now in pursuit of better policies— Not only has the invasion at the border exploded to millions every single year—the current administration claims they are powerless to stop it—which of course is a lie—if Governors can stop the invasion, Presidents can damn well stop it too—BUT its clear, they want it to continue—until America falls— Like I said that's not the only thing that has exploded—the national debt has exploded from $5 Trillion dollars in 2009 to $35 Trillion today—and it's expected to continue out of control and there is no plan—NOT ONE PLAN to slow it down at all—NONE— We are expected to race past $50 Trillion in national debt by—2030 and maybe sooner— By 2030, ironic huh? You know the same year the globalists want to take control of everything—AND at that point—they just might—and within a few years of 2030… maybe by 2040…the US debt will scream past $100 Trillion dollars— And in less than 25 years—several forecasts say our debt will be over 200% of GDP—and by then we will be paying more than $60 Trillion annually in interest alone— to our friends the Chinese—and several other countries that will hold sway over us— So, what the hell, leave the border open and we can become the biggest third world country in the world much faster— just get high, watch some video games and enjoy the ride— Of course, long before we get to that catastrophic amount of insurmountable debt—we will have lost a lot more— AI will be instrumental in clamping down completely on free speech—and the algorithms will be tuned in to make sure everyone is on the same page—literally! Reading, listening and seeing the same approved messages from people far away—and nearby as well— the First Amendment will be alive only in our memories—failing to obey will result in heavy penalties including fines and jail time— By then the US Constitution will barely be a shadow of itself—most of it declared unconstitutional— You see by then the Democrats and the globalists—which are melding into one and the same—will have dictated the outcome of numerous elections to create one party control and stripped Americans and all westerners for that matter of Free Speech and Freedom of Religion—as the Bible will be officially declared a book of hate speech and banned in most places— Of course, our last line of defense against most of this will have died along with Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito—the last two Supreme Court Justices that even gave a hint of a conservative swing to the court—so the Democrats will move in quickly and pack the court up to about 15 associate justices to make sure it is more theologically in line with the demands of the socialist masters—and Oligarchs that will be running most everything by then—and it will serve them— Of course, there won't be much running at all for you, your kids or your grandkids— Your car won't be running because you won't have one—those could be fully illegal in 10 years or so—and take a look around your house today, and enjoy the appliances you have—many of those won't be here anymore either—they will be banned one at a time—in the name of progress— Sure, the Democrats backed off on the outrageous idea that gas stoves should be banned—BUT those things are only temporary—they will be back with a vengeance and soon—their assault on freedom and their appetite for power knows no limits— That is how they will systematically eliminate everything you have that makes your existence comfortable—after all—you greedy Americans, you are destroying Mother Earth with your self-centered behavior—its time you helped with the common good— I don't really need to address guns and the Second Amendment—they are well on the way to outlawing all private ownership of guns right now—they only back off for a moment here and there—and trust me that is for show— BUT they are like rust—they keep eating away at your God given rights—I mean, they don't even believe in God anyway—so why would they care about your rights? And the clock on private citizens owning guns is running out fast— In fact, I only give private ownership of guns less than 2 years after the left decimates the Supreme Court and I expect that to happen before 2030—again, how convenient for those with a plan for your future and everyone else! Anyone who dares keep a gun will be branded a criminal and punished with severe penalties—and by then hunting and fishing will also be heavily restricted if not banned outright as well— Every year you will see your rights diminished and the power of the WEF, WHO, UN and some new agencies that have not even been named yet expanding exponentially— You can bank on it—you will do as you're told and there will be no exceptions! Speaking of banks, you won't be needing one of those very much longer as the Central Bank Digital Currencies will be replacing cash—in fact that has already started like so many of the things I have already outlined today— Every nickel, or farthing or whatever they call the new world currency that will be controlled by China—will be tracked, taxed and monitored—and you will be told what you can and cannot buy and you will also be told when you can buy anything— much of that will be under the banner of stopping crime like robberies and drug dealing—BUT those things will certainly continue— Of course, when you sit down to dinner—you will see some pale vegetables—grown in sub-standard operations that will give you just enough to get by—but you will not enjoy it, it will be bland and tasteless—and of course, after they finish their war on farms, farmers and farming—there will be zero meat for you—NONE! Again, this will all be done in the name of progress—and directed by the ever more powerful central planners—that by the way will eat meat, drive private vehicles and enjoy many other opulent perks—because, you know—they have to understand how things work to make sure they can make the best decisions for everyone else— There will be no morality—the whole “everything goes attitude” will have expanded—kids will be able to see pornography at 5 and get sex change procedures at that age too—until those in charge determine they have sufficiently controlled everyone— I would be remiss if I didn't point out there will not be any private property at all—because the only way to truly arrive at the socialist utopia—is an end to all private ownership of anything— You will own nothing and you will be happy! That is the mantra of the WEFFERS—they want complete and unadulterated control—and they get that by controlling everything— This is what I call the Ghosts of socialists present and socialists future— It would be what Dickens would have written had he seen the cesspool we are all finding ourselves in right now—with power hungry elitists and globalists clawing at the power structure every single day— I mean sure, everything seems ok at the moment—you can go to the store and there is food on the shelf, the gas station is open and things look normal for the most part— BUT things are not as they appear—and things are far from normal—and the whole pandemic exercise was exactly that, an exercise—and now they have ironed out a few of the wrinkles and gotten rid of some of the bumps in the road— We are being invaded, our currency is getting destroyed and our nation is being dragged into at least one war—and soon maybe more than one—and again, I don't believe anymore that any of this is by accident—it all seems very coordinated—and soon we could see the great war I feared when I was young but thought was no longer possible after Reyjavik—but it appears I was a bit too optimistic— And I suggest strongly that you find alternative information sources whilst you still can— Listen to people like Tucker Carlson and Jordan Peterson—really listen to what they are telling you and understand your God given rights—and your God given freedoms are under attack in ways I never thought would be possible in The United States, Canada, Europe or Australia— But the hunger for total control is un-relenting—and the quest for total power over whelming it seems— Others are worth listening to as well—Elon Musk, Joe Rogan and get some alternative perspectives from people you may not agree with—BUT agree with you on the fact that the Constitution and your freedom of speech is in deep jeopardy like RFK Jr, and Bill Maher— This doesn't have to be the future—BUT unless we can find a way to get off the road to ruin—we are in deep trouble— Oh, one more thing, Mitch McConnell please resign and take James Lankford with you! Right now John Fetterman appears to be doing a better job! Think about that!

“The strikes are coming,” and when they do, we're in for a world of hurt. Joining me today is fellow Physician's Coaching Alliance member, Yvonne Ator, MD to share her personal experience with doctors on strike and what she's doing to help support physicians in the U.S. Fondly called “The Helper For Helpers and Sheepdog for Sheepdogs”, Dr. Yvonne Ator is deeply passionate about serving those who serve and lead. As the Founder of Thriving Physicians and Thriving Idealist, she has spent the past several years coaching mission-driven professionals who desire to serve and lead sustainably and thrive in their personal and professional lives while making their positive impact in the world without succumbing to disillusionment, moral injury, compassion fatigue or burnout. Because if we do not support our doctors, the system will come crashing down. (And in some ways, maybe it should.) Listen in as Yvonne shares her story and what physicians and professionals need to do to support themselves through times of crisis. It all starts with your values and how you are, or are not, living into them. “Everyone's waiting for the system to change, but power will not be given. It has to be taken.” Ator, MD, MPH Links & Resources: Connect with Dr. Ator: Yvonne Ator Email | Facebook | Pinterest 2 WAYS TO GET INCREDIBLE HELP AT A LOW-COST!!! Frank Viele's brand of New England blues rock tugs at the heartstrings, pulling the listener on a surprise journey that transcends genre.Yet even as he's racked up accolades over the past 7 years — including New England Music Awards for Album of the Year, Male Performer of the Year, Songwriter of The Year (X2), and Live Act of The Year for gutsy, gritty tracks like “Broken Love Song” and “‘Til The Bourbon's All Gone” — he's rarely paused to savor the moment before moving on to yet another tour, album, or collaboration. It wasn't until the pandemic hit in early 2020 and he was forced to hunker down that Viele realized that time itself was the world's most precarious, yet precious, resource. At that time, Viele embarked on a writing-and-recording journey with Jimmy Nutt (Jason Isbell, American Aquarium, The Dead South) and James LeBlanc (Travis Tritt, Will Hoge, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Dylan LeBlanc, Kid Rock, Rascal Flatts) of Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Within this co-writing collaborative partnership, Viele approached each new song slowly, intentionally, and with an open mind, challenging himself to transcend the limits of genre and industry expectations. In 2021, a handful songs that he had started recording in Connecticut, and finished at Nutthouse Recording Studios in Muscle Shoals, were brought to life in the 2021 EP “Time Is A Thief.” This EP won him the coveted New England Music Award for “Songwriter of The Year” for the second time and acted as a prequel to Viele's upcoming full-length 2023 album. In January 2023, the first track off Viele's forthcoming, 13-song album completed in Nutthouse Recording Studios, “Hearts We Left Behind”, came out in January of 2023 and was featured on Boston's Country 102.5 as their “Song Of The Week”. “Hearts” continues to receive critical acclaim citing Viele's strength as a storyteller and his signature vocal delivery. The “magic dust” they are referring to has been gathered from experiences on the road and in venues across the country. Viele built his sound and narrated his journey while constantly touring the United States, playing hundreds of shows each year and sharing the stage with artists such as John Waite, Jeffrey Gaines, Lee DeWyze, Zach Myers of Shinedown, Bob Marley's Wailers, Howie Day, Xavier Rudd, Ingrid Michaelson, Tony Lucca, Pat McGee, and Blues Traveler, among others, since the release of his first solo album in 2015.But Frank Viele's musical journey starts long before that… Fondly listening to his grandmother play piano as a child and later reinvigorated as a teenager inspired by his older brother's taste in music and an acoustic guitar he left behind when he moved to the West Coast, Viele developed a deep appreciation for a wide range of genres including rock, blues, folk, and country. He began writing his own music as a teenager and quickly developed a knack for crafting deeply personal and emotive songs that spoke to the human experience. After honing his craft fronting New York City based Jam/Funk/Rock Outfit “Frank Viele & The Manhattan Project”, Viele released his debut solo album “Fall Your Way” in 2015, which was met with critical acclaim including 2 New England Music Awards for Album of The Year and Male Performer of The Year. (On top of the Live Act of The Year Award he had received in 2014).The Album, “What's His Name?” won Frank Viele the New England Music Award for “Songwriter of The Year” which paved this Connecticut musician's path to Muscle Shoals, Alabama where he began the next chapter of his writing and recording journey. Viele's music is characterized not only by his powerful vocals, soulful guitar playing, and poignant lyrics, but also its deep honesty. This is an artist who is not afraid of wearing his heart on his sleeve, and dig deep into the joys and struggles of life. He has been praised for his ability to blend elements of folk, blues, and
Sophie Pavelle spearheads the new breed of science communicators. She is a nature writer, the communications co-ordinator for the Beaver Trust and an ambassador for the Wildlife Trusts. Recorded in front of a live audience in November 2022, this interview chronicles the journey she undertook to write her award-winning book, “Forget Me Not”. Hear about her encounters with “salt and vinegar chipsticks”, “bald men in hot tubs” and “that guy in the office who trails a 10 metre wake of paco rabane” (aka, Marsh Fritillary Butterflies, Seals and Bottle-nosed Dolphins - did we mention she's from the new breed?) Hear about her low carbon journey across the British Isles to encounter ten of Britain's nearly forgotten endangered species, and how when putting pen to paper she set out to blame human beings for climate change… but in a happy way! She meets the Bat Conservation Trust, visits the Rewildling project at Knepp, and heads to the north of England in search of Britain's smallest bird of prey - and her take home from this? Sadly few encounters with her chosen ten species, but fortunately lots of stories about poo…! Why not become a "Subscription Squirrel" on our Patreon, and help support the production of this podcast? Bernie Dellario come into the studio to speak with Tim and Marie. He talks about his painting trip to Italy that caused him to miss an early Plein Air Easton event, his approach to teaching, and gives Tim and Marie a little demo on how to mix paint. “From the beautiful to the discarded, I am inspired by many things as an artist. I rarely know what will be the subject of my painting efforts, but once discovered, I strive to articulate my impression of that reality into a collection of abstract shapes, strong design and color” Bernard Dellario earned a bachelor's degree from Kings College in Wilkes-Barre, PA with emphasis on finance and art history. He studied Art at the Art League School in Alexandria, Virginia and attended several workshops with nationally known artists. He has been a member of the Washington Society of Landscape Painters since 2003. He's a 10x X-Games gold medalist, been on Nitro Circus, and performs stunts in movies, among many other things. Fondly known as Cowboy Kenny, Mr. Kenny Bartram is here today. He describes himself as blessed to have figured out how to make a living being a goofball. Coming from a long line of motorcyclists, Kenny was riding for as long as he can remember, but it was freestyle motocross that really got him passionate. He can still recall being invited to one of the very first freestyle contests, and turning it down. Just watching what these other guys could do, Kenny didn't feel like he could hang. Finally, he agreed to attend a later motocross event, and even with his bike blowing up halfway through, Kenny was hooked. Motocross has evolved so much, with more mathematics and science going into the tricks. Kenny can recall when backflips first became a thing, and he realized it was something he'd have to be able to do. Just mastering the tricks wasn't enough, however. Kenny needed to make a name for himself and really build a brand. Not fitting the typical freestyler mold of tattoos and piercings, Kenny was just a good ole boy from Oklahoma. During an event in Portugal he donned a cowboy hat, and people loved it. Bringing the cowboy persona back to the US, he got a little more flack, but it quickly caught on, and Cowboy Kenny was born. Kenny has tried his hand at many endeavors, including trying to break into the Nascar scene. When he realized how tough that world was to get into without a ton of money or connections, he pursued a different dream. Kenny took his abilities and his fearless attitude and got into movie stunts. Kenny has now done over 60 movies, with no plans of stopping anytime soon. Earning residuals long after a movie was completed, Kenny was fortunate to still have some money coming in when Covid put a temporary end to motocross events. When events did come back, people were so happy to get out of the house, that every event was sold out. What You'll Learn: How Covid affected the motocross industry. How Cowboy Kenny came to be. Which big movies Kenny has performed stunts in. Why it's so hard to break into the Nascar world. Favorite Quote: “For any athlete, in any sport, you have to have passion.” -Kenny Bartram How to Get Connected: Cowboy Kenny Instagram Facebook
