Subject: Prom Night (2008) Observers: John Pavlich, Hayley White Record Date: August 29, 2012, 06:09 PM Plot Summary: Obsessed with one of his past students, a former Teacher tracks her down at a Hotel and begins murdering her friends during her Senior Prom. Note: Due to a few technical difficulties (some dead air at 30 minutes and 13 seconds, then again at 1 hour, 17 minutes and 22 seconds), this episode has been in the vault for nearly 8 months. However, I've decided to do some extensive post work and submit it here for the loyal listeners who may want to hear this one. Hayley White returns for this well-made, but not wholly outstanding Teen Slasher. We talk about criminal psychosis, High School Proms and unintentional red herrings. Remember to listen for the preemptive countdown before starting the movie on your DVD. Buy: Prom Night (2008) on Blu-ray at Amazon.com!
Subject: I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer (2006) Observers: John Pavlich, Hayley White Record Date: March 08, 2012, 04:56 AM Plot Summary: The legend of the Killer Fisherman has manifested into a supernatural force, when a prank gone wrong results in an accidental death and a group of teenagers vow to keep their involvement a secret. Note: Chocolate dealer from the land down under, Hayley White returns to the podcast to help me put the final nail (hopefully) in the coffin of the Killer Fisherman franchise. We discuss our feelings on pulling pranks, ADR and the struggle of trying to do something different in a pre-established series, while also being trapped within that territory. Remember to listen for the preemptive countdown before starting the movie on your DVD.
Subject: Shriek If You Know What I Did Last Friday the 13th (2000) Observers: John Pavlich, Hayley White Record Date: February 27, 2012, 06:37 AM Plot Summary: Highschool kids are being systematically stalked and murdered by a masked madman in this fun (but flawed) parody, spoofing the Teen Slasher genre. Note: Australian ubergeek, Hayley White returns to the podcast for some more Dead Teenager discussions. We talk about the art and science that goes into making a spoof movie, what works, what doesn't and why and how to possibly fix things. We also discuss the ensemble cast including Julie Benz, Danny Strong, Tom Arnold, Majandra Delfino and Tiffani Thiessen. Remember to listen for the preemptive countdown before starting the movie on your DVD. Correction: In this episode, I mistakenly declare Danny Strong as having been nominated for an Academy Award for his Recount screenplay. What I meant to say was Emmy. He also won a WGA Award for that script. Also, I should do more research before these commentaries, as Majandra Delfino has in fact been quite busy, I just didn't know it.
Subject: I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1998) Observers: John Pavlich, Hayley White Record Date: September 05, 2011, 01:06 AM Plot Summary: Haunted by her past, Julie James (Jennifer Love Hewitt) tries to vacation with her friends in the Bahamas, only to find The Fisherman is back in her life and going to great lengths to bring her a living nightmare. Note: Now that October has begun, the Sofa Dogs podcast can officially kick off another celebration of the Halloween season, all month long! Just as with the previous film, Hayley White joins me for the sequel as we scratch our heads and groan disapprovingly at this odd little mix of attractive cinematography, unintentional laughs, ridiculous storyline, earnest performances and surprisingly genuine laughs! There are five Sundays this month, so we're starting with something light in the Horror genre. Remember to listen for the preemptive countdown before starting the movie on your DVD.
