Send Bidemi a Text Message! In this episode, host Bidemi Ologunde spoke with Tom Arnold, a cybersecurity expert, digital forensics investigator, and educator, to trace cybercrime's rapid evolution—from early password hacks to today's AI-powered phishing, deepfakes, and nation-state ransomware crews. Tom explained how attack typologies shape prevention, detection, and response for companies and families; why gaming platforms are the new frontier for child exploitation; and how a near-miss involving his grandson turned him into an outspoken advocate for digital safety education. His latest book, The Digital Detective, is available on Amazon.Support the show

Send us a textHollywood veteran and comedy icon Tom Arnold sits down with The Mox on this heartfelt and hilarious episode of The Barn. With his signature honesty and humor, Tom opens up about his upcoming comedy tour, including stops in Springfield, Kansas City, and St. Louis, while reflecting on the journey that got him here. From writing for Roseanne to starring alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger in True Lies, Tom shares stories from his long and colorful career in television and film. But it's not all about Hollywood — Tom gets candid about life as a single father, raising his two kids (ages 12 and 9), and learning to navigate parenting with vulnerability, humor, and grace. He dives into a wide range of personal and powerful topics, including his ongoing health battles like spinal stenosis and his recovery from a severe case of Covid-19. Tom shares the joys and everyday mishaps of fatherhood, from accidentally using adult shampoo on his daughter to sending her to school in the wrong shoes. He reflects on the lessons he's learned from his own troubled upbringing and how those experiences shaped the way he approaches parenting. Tom also opens up about the dramatic transformation of his sister's life after years of hardship, and speaks candidly about his own journey through addiction and how he's used comedy as a form of therapy and healing. Throughout it all, he discusses the delicate balance of being a present and engaged dad while staying committed to life on the road as a working comedian. Tom's blend of raw honesty, redemption, and razor-sharp wit makes this episode one of the most memorable to date. Whether you're a fan of his film work, his stand-up, or just looking for a real conversation about life, this one hits home.
In the third and final hour of The Dan Jacobs Show, Dan discusses his recent Cameo purchases from Gary Busey and Tom Arnold. Then we re-visit our interview with James Merilatt for those who missed it. And Dan finishes up the show discussing the future of Shedeur Sanders with Joe behind the glass.
Comedian, actor, activist Tom Arnold is an open book on this episode. You gotta hear some of these stories! Tom and Hugh Grant stole antiques from Madonna. And how Tom "saved" a very famous rock star from drugs. Tom discusses his childhood in Iowa, his climb to fame in Hollywood, his drug use and recovery and his younger sister who got married at age 12 and then became one of the biggest meth dealers. Also, why this podcast almost never happened.

The Mary Robinson Centre and University of Galway, along with partner Mayo County Council, will host the third Mary Robinson Climate and Nature Conference. The conference will bring together climate justice advocates, scientists, activists, community groups and policymakers to address local, national and global challenges and opportunities in relation to climate justice and nature conservation. Centering on the theme "Courage in Crisis", the annual conference will take place in Ballina, Co Mayo, on May 26th and 27th where the former president grew up, and where the new Mary Robinson Centre is located. Mary Robinson Centre and University of Galway host 2025 climate and nature conference Mary Robinson said: "The Mary Robinson Nature and Climate Conference will centre on a call to courage in the face of the climate and nature crisis, a crisis that touches every part of our shared world. In these urgent times, it is through meitheal, the Irish tradition of coming together in collective effort, that we find strength, purpose and hope. Only by standing together can we meet this moment with the boldness it demands. I'm looking forward to being in community in my hometown of Ballina, imagining together what each of us can do to build a better future." Along with Mary Robinson, the conference will feature a distinguished lineup of Irish and international speakers including: Dr Aoibhinn Ní Shúilleabháin, DCU; Anja Murray, ecologist, policy analyst, broadcaster and author; Dearbhla Richardson, youth climate justice activist; Dr Elaine McGoff, An Taisce; Dr Gerard McCarthy, physical oceanographer and climate scientist; Professor Hannah Daly, UCC; Professor John Barry, Queens University Belfast; Professor Navjot Bhullar, University of Canberra, Australia; Tom Arnold, Ireland Africa Rural Development Committee; Dr Omnia El Omrani, Global Climate and Health Alliance; and Laura Cook, Project Dandelion. The conference will feature a diverse range of workshops, panel discussions, walks, music and art, and aims to create space for people to connect, share ideas, and collaborate, with several of the conference events open to the public. Dr Caitríona Carlin, School of Natural Sciences and Ryan Institute at University of Galway and conference co-chair, said: "It was uplifting to hear Mary Robinson recognise the interconnections between climate and biodiversity, when she changed the name of the conference to climate and nature in 2024. This is the first year that the conference formally addresses climate and nature and we are grateful to the funders and sponsors who have supported us. The conference enables us to acknowledge that actions for climate, for nature are also for us. We are part of the environment, and in finding common ground, we can make space for courageous conversations and actions to meet the multiple challenges ahead." Dr Sinéad Sheehan, School of Psychology and Ryan Institute, University of Galway and conference co-chair, said: "This year, while we are bringing the conference to Ballina, we also want to bring Ballina to the conference! There's a great programme of events planned around the conference, including an art exhibition at the Mary Robinson Centre, a 'Connecting With Trees' walk in Belleek Woods on Sunday, and an eco-gathering on Tuesday featuring groups working on climate and nature. We're also looking forward to a special 'Oíche Cultúr agus Craic' on Monday night with music, poetry and storytelling - it should be a brilliant few days for Ballina and the wider community." Dr Alma Clavin, Lecturer in Sustainability at University of Galway and conference co-chair, said: "This conference creates a necessary courageous space for those activated in climate and nature work to connect with each other and new ideas. The conference is taking place in a county that has a fantastic network of community-led climate and sustainability initiatives and a distinctive biodiversity-rich landscape. We're delighted to host this important ...

Send us a textKatie and Bridget do a ridiculous amount of different activities that should never be paired together in an effort to thwart nuclear terrorists as they re-watch the movie: True Lies! We've got our favorite neglectful 90's dad - Arnold Schwarzenegger - as Harry Tasker, a man who his family thinks is a computer analyst, but really he's a terrorist-fighting secret agent! When he thinks his wife is having an affair (which she kind of is, but also we don't hate it), he uses government resources to spy on her, try to catch her in the act, and then make her to do a secret strip tease for her - all while continually lying to her! True Lies does not equal Swift Divorce, we'll tell you that right now. As if that couldn't be the whole movie, we also have international terrorists, kidnapping, nuclear weapons, explosions all around, every gun you could ever think of, and fighter jets exploding men in midair. It's absolutely ridiculous but we just can't look away! Released in 1994, it was written and directed by James Cameron and stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jamie Lee Curtis, Tom Arnold, Bill Paxton, Tia Carrere, Art Malik, and Eliza Dushku.

Here's a bit of an oddity selected for us by one of our Patrons. Mostly known these days for having a surprise appearance of Barbra Streisand in Coffee Talk (which already has a sketch-long cameo performance from Madonna), there's also the fascinating and far less talked about case of the Red Hot Chili Peppers basically imploding live on stage, with John Frusciante going completely rogue from the band. And you've also got Roseanne, who's, uh...a lot less fun personality these days than here in 1992. Tom Arnold is there too, i suppose. The whole thing is just a strange gumbo. There's a lot of narratively focused sketches that work out both for the better and for the worse, the tricky balance of having two hosts, and just a strange vibe overall.
Well that kinda snuck up on us! We're getting old, Bob's freaking out about 64 but not going to the doctor, Aimee Davis made a good bet on Chuk, Tom Arnold is hilarious, the kids are doing good, we're not dying and that's plenty, RFK is not the first AA in the whitehouse, Elijah had some opportunities, trauma and drinking were good for Bob's development and the Wall Street Journal ain't scary or outta line. Business as usual round here. Next one's gonna be a special celebration of the Don't Die mission with a buncha guests checking in on our boys, be sure to tune in for EPISODE THREE HUNDRED!
In the 1970s, Gregory Harrison went east to Hollywood. The son of Catalina Island's glass bottom boat captain, Gregory began dreaming of a career in acting when a Doris Day movie was filmed on and named after his father's Glass Bottom Boat. Now 120 IMDB credits into his career, Gregory joins us for a debriefing. After serving as an Army medic during the Viet Nam War, Gregory's guest star appearance on MASH in 1976 foreshadowed his earning the role of Gonzo Gates on Trapper John MD in 1979, which was around the time Trapper began to look more like Pernell Roberts than Wayne Rogers. Gregory starred in the TV version of Logan's Run, a role that required a lot of running, which trained him for an appearance on Battle of the Network Stars where he met his future wife, Randi Oaks (competing for a rival network.) He's most proud of his role in Centennial, the epic mini-series based on the James Michener novel. A TV event so beloved that fan gatherings are held today where enthusiasts can tour the original sets!Gregory just completed a three and a half year run on General Hospital, his first soap, on which he got to guest star with his daughter, Lily Anne Harrison. Hallmark fans know him as Joe O'Toole on the Signed, Sealed and Delivered movie series. And a fun fact is that the 8x10 glossy that Gregory is most often asked to sign is a shirtless pose from the TV movie, For Ladies Only, in which a struggling actor makes ends meet by stripping. Who, amongst us with a rock hard body doesn't relate? Also joining us is journalist and former White House correspondent Brian Karen. Brian is directing a documentary titled Trump: The First 100 Days. As J Mo rapidly approaches (or has perhaps already passed?) 3000 films watched all-time on Letterboxd, it felt fitting to kick off a new year with the story of another man who thought he'd hit the 3000 plateau only for it to be taken away from him on a technicality, as we try to whip ourselves back in to game-shape for 2025 by watching a sports comedy that's a little too light on laughs. It's 2004's Mr. 3000, directed by Charles Stone III, and starring Bernie Mac, Angela Bassett, Michael Rispoli, Dondré Whitfield, Paul Sorvino, Chris Noth, Keegan-Michael Key, Dane Cook and Tom Arnold. While the movie never really finds its groove comedically, it's still a charming sports twist on the cocky-hothead-gets-humbled archetype that does a great job of using existing teams, leagues and sports TV shows to make the whole thing feel somewhat real. This is to say nothing of Bernie Mac, who has more than enough charisma to carry this even when the script isn't entirely where it needs to be. Plus: we take a good half-hour off the top of the first show of the new year to countdown our duelling lists of the Top Ten Films of 2024. If you'd like to watch the movie before listening to our discussion, Mr. 3000 is currently free to stream in Canada on Hoopla. Other works discussed in this episode include The Substance, Juror No. 2, Twisters, Will & Harper, Civil War, Longlegs, Hit Man, I Saw The TV Glow, The Wild Robot, The Fall Guy, Conclave, Love Lies Bleeding, La Chimera, Dune: Part Two, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, Challengers, Woman of the Hour, Carry-On, Lupin the Third: The Castle of Cagliostro, Cuckoo, Red One, Ladder 49 and National Treasure, among countless others. We'll be back next week with a little ADHD-VHS, as Hayley puts her newly-acquired VCR to work watching a movie on tape that is new to her: 1993's The Fugitive, with Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones, that is currently streaming north of the border on Starz. And later in the month, we'll be circling back to our man Bernie Mac as January's canon consideration is 2001's Ocean's Eleven! Until then, we'll see you at the movies!!

In recent years, Americans have faced a deluge of horrifying developments in politics and culture: stolen elections, fascist rallies, families torn apart and locked away. A common refrain erupts at each new atrocity: This isn't who we are. In American Rule, Jared Yates Sexton upends those convenient fictions by laying bare the foundational myths at the heart of our collective American imagination. From the very origins of this nation, Americans in power have abused and subjugated others; enabling that corruption are the many myths of American exceptionalism and steadfast values, which are fed to the public and repeated across generations. Working through each era of American growth and change, Sexton weaves together the origins and perpetuation of these narratives still in the public memory, and the acts we have chosen to forget. Stirring, deeply researched, and disturbingly familiar, American Rule is a call to examine our own misconceptions of what it means, and has always meant, to be an American. listen and subscribe to Jared's Podcast subscribe to his substack newsletter The Stand Up Community Chat is always active with other Stand Up Subscribers on the Discord Platform. We're back in the WATP studios to check out a new podcast from Tom Arnold and George Eads' ex-wife, what's-her-name. They both have had horrible, public divorces so now they do a show about how awesome it is to end your marriage. And to make things even funnier and more wacky, Tom Arnold is going back and forth with his ex over legal disputes, child custody, and restraining orders. Haha, what a character! Lucy Tightbox and Trucker Andy both join us in the studio to celebrate Tom's inability to stay with his partner. Then we check in on Aaron Imholte's latest victory - one year probation that will land him 90 days in jail if he messes up (spoiler: he already messed up). Also, Chad Zumock is rewriting history, Patrick Michael calls out people on his Patreon, and we find his new channel. We check in on Helga and Lisa and it turns out Helga lied to everyone in order to set up her merch at DabbleCon 2. Rob Saul is finally monetized and now really wants attention so he can read insults for a living, Jim and Sam talk DabbleCon 2 on SXM, and I respond to an email from The Best Damn Podcast.
