We have a bit of a shorter episode this week, as we are in the dog days of summer. Eric, Sean, and Shawna recap the last few weeks of Wisconsin news, sports, and life since the last episode. We talk river floating and Iola Car Show among other things. In the sports world, the Brewers are no longer leading the NL Central but are in a close 2nd place. It’s the Milwaukee Air and Water Show. We will attempt to catch up with Paul Rogers who is the Founder and President.

The Wisconsin Highway Patrol is back in the news for ticketing a 32 Ford for having modifications. This is a great example of how we as car hobbyists need to stay on top of what is happening to preserve our hobby. John and Will discuss the situation, why it is important, and what can be done. WLS News Anchor Rob Martier, DriveChicago.com General Manager Mark Bilek and Chicago Auto Show Marketing Director Jim OBrill review the Chicago Auto Show World Debut vehicle, the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, discuss the upcoming BBQ for the Troops events taking place across Chicagoland and chat about one of the biggest summer car show, the IOLA Car Show & Swap Meet in Wisconsin.

Special Guests will include Joe Opperman and Larry Fechter. The Iola Car Show is one of America’s largest auto events. It has over 2,500 show cars, 4,200 swap spaces, 1,600 camp sites, 1,000 for sale car corral spaces, a giant midway filled with TV celebrities, manufactures and international custom car builders. All of this sits on a dedicated 300 acres located in a tiny little community of Wisconsin. For three days – Iola – becomes the mecca of car crazy enthusiast.

This week our guest was Joe Opperman, Director Public Relations and Marketing at the Iola Car Show and Swap Meet in Iola Wisconsin. Iola is a very small mid-western town that once a year transforms into a massive car show that hosts around 120,000 people and is considered one of the best in world. Joe says he has worked with the show for around 29 years, and he is only 33. If you live in Iola you will either be working for the show or have left town for that week. It is a full community effort to put on the event.
