In late 1916, while treating a group of patients at his psychiatric clinic at the University of Vienna, Dr. Constantin von Economo began noticing the appearance of strange symptoms that he could not account for. At the same time, in France, Rene Cruchet began noticing similarly strange and unexpected symptoms in his patients. Though the two men had never met and knew nothing of one another's patients, they would come to learn they were both witnessing the emergence of a new mysterious disease that would soon affect millions of people around the world. The illnesses documented by von Economo and Cruchet would eventually come to be know as encephalitis lethargica, or sleeping sickness, a strange condition that caused profound lethargy, hypersomnia, and a wide range of other frightening symptoms. Between 1919 and the early 1930s, millions of people all around the world contracted the illness, with nearly half of all cases resulting in death, and many more suffering long-term effects; yet a cause of the illness has never been established and the terrifying epidemic appears to have faded from memory not long after the disease itself ostensibly disappeared. No one could have predicted that Jesus would come in the way He did. The circumstances surrounding His birth were unexpected, scandalous, and even chaotic. But every detail of His birth was all part of God's plan. The good news of Jesus' birth isn't just that He came but how He came. How Jesus came reveals why He came. The way He came reveals the true character and mission of God. Join us this Sunday for the start of the Christmas sermon series!
In our final episode of 2025, we wrap up the year with a Christmas Question Time special — and as ever, Paul is joined by C-Link co-founder and former QS, Chris Barber, for an honest and entertaining look at the issues commercial teams are grappling with right now. This episode is built entirely from listener questions, including:• Have you ever received (or issued) a notice on Christmas Eve? Paul shares the story of the year he unwrapped a “festive” million-pound claim instead of a bottle of wine — and why timing sends a louder message than the paperwork.• How do commercial leaders shift the industry away from turnover obsession and back to sustainable profit? From cash flow support to real partnerships with key trades, Paul and Chris explore practical, relationship-driven steps commercial directors can take in 2026.• What should a QS team do when a client refuses to certify variations? The pair discuss preventing the issue before it starts, how to regroup internally, how to push back professionally, and how to reset expectations without burning bridges.• Are clients and consultants unintentionally driving inflation? An honest look at over-specification, half-baked design, risk loading in D&B contracts, and why two-stage tendering might be the only sensible route forward.Along the way, Paul and Chris reflect on their standout episodes of the year, the rise of two-stage procurement, the growing focus on goodwill, and why 2026 needs stronger industry-wide pushback on unrealistic commercial behaviours. It's insightful, candid, and the perfect way to close out the year before Own the Build returns on 12th January with Episode 249 — our first ever Own the Build Live recording.---------------------------------

In the closing message of our series on the life of David, Pastor Brandon Woodward—lead pastor of Union City Church in Washington, D.C. and brother to Pastor Dustin Woodward—brings a powerful and heartfelt word about what it truly means to be a person after God's own heart. From David's humble beginnings to his final days as king, this message traces the journey of a man who wasn't defined by perfection but by pursuit. Even through failure, grief, and success, David never stopped chasing after the presence of God. In this sermon, Pastor Brandon unpacks four defining qualities of a heart that gets God's attention: • A heart that seeks His presence more than position or power • A heart that studies His precepts and builds life on His Word • A heart that sings His praises in every season • A heart that serves His purposes above personal ambition You'll be reminded that God isn't looking for perfection—He's looking for devotion. He's searching for men and women who will love what He loves, care about what He cares about, and live fully surrendered to His will. As Pastor Brandon shares, “Legacy isn't about what you leave behind, but what you set in motion.” Let this message inspire you to seek God wholeheartedly and live a life that moves His heart. "Denied" Part 1:As the Trump Administration takes a firm hold of all immigration, this is a word that is becoming all too common. Sadly, it's becoming a more common story. A person applies for EB-5. They listen to their lawyer, they follow all the rules, and they patiently wait for their conditional green card. Then, years pass. They get a job, buy a home, and build a life. They pay their taxes and become part of their community. However, at the final stage of the process, despite doing everything right, they get a denial. Worse, they get a notice to appear before an immigration judge. Why? And what can they do? Unfortunately, more and more people are asking those questions. Why is USCIS issuing more Notices to Appear? How worried should people be? Has there been any success fighting these? Mona and Rebecca sit down with John Pratt to tackle the complicated thorny topic of denials in the final stretch of the EB-5 process.

Send us a textWant to know how a small city can protect its red rock vistas and still welcome new families? We sit down with a 31-year-old Ivins candidate who makes a clear, practical case for balancing heritage, housing, and modern city management—without turning the place into another resort corridor. He shares how growing up in Ivins, interning at the Utah Capitol, and working on statewide campaigns shaped a leadership style that blends clear principles with real listening, especially to younger residents who rarely see themselves on the council. We dig into attainable housing mandates from the state and what a thoughtful, design-first response looks like: mixed housing near parks and paths, duplexes and quads that match neighborhood character, and targeted density along Highway 91 where infrastructure can support it. On the revenue side, we get into property taxes, constrained city funding models, and why smarter tools—like a narrowly scoped sales tax for public safety and even autonomous mowers to free staff for higher-impact work—can stretch dollars without sacrificing service. Throughout, he argues for a walkable fabric of small businesses—clinics, family restaurants, kid-friendly activities—that keep life local and sales tax steady.Environmental protection is non-negotiable: water planning with the conservancy district, protecting Night Sky and Snow Canyon viewsheds, and accelerating land trusts through the Open Spaces Committee to preserve working farms and the rural feel. He also calls for a digital-first civic process: opt-in alerts for zone changes, short resident surveys, and regular plan updates so the data guiding decisions stays current. It's a candid, hopeful blueprint for a city that holds on to what it loves while making room for who's next. Please make sure you like and subscribe, share it with other voters throughout Washington County to help them make informed decisions in the upcoming election. What happens when a county government tries to silence its watchdog? In Pender County, North Carolina, officials yanked away the Post and Voice's legal notices — a critical revenue lifeline — not because the paper failed to fulfill its duty, but because it did. Publisher Andy Pettigrew called out backroom deals and ran biting editorial cartoons, prompting the commissioners to strike back. Now, the fight has moved from the courthouse steps to federal court, raising a chilling First Amendment question: If politicians can punish a paper for speaking the truth, what local newsroom is safe? Most husbands love their wives and are trying to do their best, yet many still make hidden mistakes that quietly convince her she isn't loved. These aren't failures of bad men, but blind spots of good men who don't realize how their actions (or inactions) land. In this episode, John Heinen and Devin Schadt expose the unseen ways husbands lose their wives' hearts and reveal a path toward lasting love and trust. With Scripture, Catholic wisdom, and real experience, they challenge men to grow into the husbands they are called to be. If you've ever wondered why your wife doesn't always feel cherished, even when you're trying, this conversation is for you.
In this episode, we dive into the extraordinary journey of an ordinary man who was thrust into the legal system and, through relentless struggle, uncovered the hidden machinery driving family courts, governments, and corporations. What began as a personal battle over divorce and child support revealed a multi-trillion-dollar industry built on negotiable instruments, exposing how the system profits off human lives. Through years of trial, error, and perseverance, Cal Washington discovered the ancient roots of Lex Mercatoria—the Law Merchant—and how commerce, not justice, underpins the courts we think serve us. From facing jail time to holding judges accountable, to creating notices of liability that caused officials and apparently even a royal to step down, his story is one of grit, awakening, and empowerment. This is an eye-opening conversation that challenges everything you thought you knew about law, power, and freedom.Time Stamps(00:00) Episode Teaser(00:27) Opening Conversation(04:29) Introducing Cal Washington(06:51) Cal Washington's Legal Journey(08:39) The Divorce Industry Exposed(14:36) Understanding the Legal System(17:18) The Power of Commerce in Law(21:39) Cal's Personal Legal Battles(27:15) The Role of Law Merchant(35:10) Courtroom Experiences and Strategies(44:24) The Impact of Legal Knowledge(48:14) Unexpected Arrest and Meeting a Lawyer(49:24) Legal Maneuvers and Promissory Note(51:30) Escalation and Government Response(55:11) Empower Movement and Smart Meters(58:55) Notices of Liability and Public Impact(01:03:21) Financial System and Wealth Transfer(01:10:47) Personal Compliance and Legal Strategies(01:19:54) Biblical Contracts and Legal Principles(01:23:39) Future Vision and System Reset(01:28:53) Practical Applications and Final ThoughtsGuest Linkshttps://www.inpowermovement.org/hereforthetruth ($50 discount available)Connect with UsJoin our membership Friends of the TruthSubscribe to Here for the Truth FridaysTake the Real AF Test NowDiscover Your Truth Seeker ArchetypeWatch all our episodesConnect with us on TelegramAccess all our links

Guests: Cori Steiner, WV Director of Resident Services Alice Pero, WV resident and retired nurse Description: * September is Suicide Prevention Month. Today, we are talking about suicide with two courageous people whose lives were deeply affected by the suicide of a family member or attempts at suicide by a family member. We discussed what helped them cope in the immediate aftermath, including what was helpful from others and what wasn't. We also explored the available support here at Willow Valley and the resources available in communities nationwide. Suicide is a hard topic to talk about, and yet talking about it is precisely what helps. The WV Social Workers are putting on a month-long series of programs about suicide, why it is okay to talk about it, and why it is so important to bring it out of the shadows. Notices about their programming will be placed in your mailboxes. Attend the annual WV Health Expo and find the tables with more information. *This is a reprodcast of a podcast done initially in August of 2024. Dates mentioned are not exact to the programming offered in Sept. 2025.

In this week's episode, Javvad Malik and Erich Kron wade through the latest cybersecurity soap opera where silence, spin, and shady stats take center stage: 61% of U.S. companies claim they've been hit by insider breaches. Is this a shocking revelation… or just the result of someone finally checking the logs? CISOs are under growing pressure to zip it about incidents. Because nothing says “strong security posture” like sweeping breaches under the rug and hoping the auditors don't trip over the lump. Hackers are holding Google's data hostage unless two threat intel employees get the boot. Extortion? Performance review outsourcing? You decide. Meanwhile in the UK, the government sat on a secret breach review for two years before sheepishly releasing it. Because transparency apparently has an expiration date. Grab your headphones as we unpack what these stories really mean for security leaders, why “insider risk” is the boogeyman of the week, and how the industry's favorite strategy still seems to be: “Shh… maybe they won't notice.”

In this episode, Ricardo discusses the concept of "silent success" in projects. Managers often highlight dramatic stories: impossible deadlines met, small teams overcoming limitations, or difficult clients. These narratives attract attention, but true success can be more discreet: well-managed risks, on-time deliveries, a motivated team, and aligned stakeholders. Without memorable crises, this work is often seen as luck or an easy project, when in fact it results from careful planning, constant communication, and early strategic decisions. Ricardo warns that it's necessary to review metrics and value these managers, as they are the ones who truly deliver the expected results, without relying on the spectacle of the crisis. If you've ever said, “My product is for anybody,” this episode will make you rethink everything. Okay, this might be the craziest offer we've ever made. We're giving away a solopreneur platform that normally costs five hundred dollars a year…For twenty-five bucks. And not for a month, not for a year… forever. All you have to do is pre-order our new book: Solopreneur Business for Dummies. When we first went solo, we thought we could just Google our way through it. But the advice out there? It was built for startups with teams and money, not someone trying to do it all themselves. We kept thinking: “There's gotta be a better way.”So we made one. LifeStarr Premier is the system we wish we had back then: the tools, the strategy, the community, all in one place.Go to book.lifestarr.com to lock it in.This deal goes away when the book drops, October 6, 2025, and it's not coming back.Pre-order the book. Upload your receipt. You're in. For good.

My guest this week is Kai from Switzerland who did our 66-day Challenge back in 2018 - and he's been sober ever since In this episode: Kai liked the competitive aspect of a “challenge” and once he'd checked out the science behind our 66 he was keen to join He never had a “rock bottom” moment; the realization that he was drinking too much came gradually over 5 years. Three main drinking situations: Friday/Saturday nights with his wife. After-work beers with colleagues. Holidays with daily alcohol. He'd always struggled with moderation; although he did attempt a “Dry January” most years. Kai started his 66-day challenge with confidence, expecting to moderate afterward. He found the accountability, group support, and reading resources helpful. He maintained his social life but switched to alcohol-free alternatives. Family Reactions were interesting… His wife didn't fully understand the need for Kai to join a group in South Africa to do the challenge His children gave him some honest feedback that they never would have told him if he was still drinking Son disliked the smell of alcohol on his breath. Daughter disliked his loudness and unsteady walking after drinking. After the 66 days he felt great and extended challenge to 100 days and then to 6 months Then his daughter's challenged him to do one year – that was 7 years ago and he's been alcohol free ever since! Benefits Noticed Easier life – loved the simplicity of not counting drinks or worrying about driving Health improvements: better skin, digestion, sleep, mood. No more hangovers and much more energy. Kai's Perspective has changed.. No current reason to drink; sees alcohol as incompatible with healthy living. Notices social norms promoting alcohol; predicts attitudes may shift like they did with smoking. Enjoys being a role model for his children and colleagues. Advice to Others Know your “why” before starting. Use the toolbox, community, and resources. Observe social drinking without judgment. Challenges help identify if drinking is truly a problem. He avoided the daunting idea of “forever” by setting achievable milestones.
