While the guys are thawing out from an icy cold winter season, they're eager to talk about some of the hotest new cars on the market. Benjamin starts this week off with a review of the 2025 BMW M5, a car that's heavier and more powerful than the vehicle it replaces, but now picks up a fancy plug-in hybrid powertrain that can pre-gear for more impressive launches using all 700+ of its horsepower. Benjamin is eager to describe just how special this new M5 is, but wonders who is this vehicle for, what with its varying goals and innovations. Sami suggests it's a car that can do it all, but is there a customer out there looking for what the BMW offers or should they opt for something else? Then Sami talks about his time in two new, but very similar Mazdas. The 2025 Mazda CX-70 and CX-90 are offered with the same powertrains, either a turbo six cylinder model or a plug-in hybrid, and both use the same platform, but are available in either a two or three-row setup. However, Sami points out that the five-seater CX-70 feels like a lackluster effort, and the automaker has a lot of other low points too, including the plug-in powertrain and cumbersome infotainment system. Is this the best Mazda can do? Then the guys riff on a listener question before closing it up for the week. Thanks for listening!

Strap in, sit back and prepare for another venture into the world of Smack Talk City. We tried to have a subject but honestly this was more random discussion than actual deep discussion around a particular subject.
It's the morning of August 6th, 1945. Jujiro Matsuda is heading back home after visiting his company headquarters in nearby Hiroshima, where his small trucks called Mazdas have become fixtures of the city. And suddenly, behind him, there's a bright flash. The city that had grown on the backs of the Mazda trucks for more than a decade had vanished in an instant, and it would be Jujiro and the Mazdas that would lead its rebuilding. But how did the son of a poor fisherman become a Hiroshima success story? How did he set a cork manufacturing company on the path to the Mazda we know today? And how did he and this young company rise to reunite and rebuild a city destroyed by an atomic bomb? Today on Past Gas, part one of our four-part series on Mazda. We apologize in advance for our our kitchen apparel fashion tips. With a three of our crew missing, the remaining cast members try to channel our missing mates (seance not included.) We discuss the action and results of the 2023 24 Hours of Le Mans sports car race, which leads to creating The Thing About Cars Drinking Game. A tip of the hat is given to Mazda for supporting the classes of road racing that feed the pro classes. We chastise hypermilers who block traffic while admit to doing a bit of guilty hypermiling ourselves and talk about their competitions. The truth about what Mickey has in common with Betty White and Norman Rockwell is brought to light while pondering why his current Honda might be getting poor MPG's. Our trivia question is about Nissan / Datsun Z cars. We welcome your support via Patreon and your questions and feedback via our website. Listen as we talk with technology leader Sarah Freeman of Attollo Tech in Arizona. She talks about her complete flip from automotive to technology sales and where it accelerated from there. Through this segment, we'll get into wifi, analytics, and secrets to help customers also learn how to improve their business and monetize them as well! Later in the segments, we'll talk specifically about struggles through retail specifically. Josh Lupresto: [00:00:00] welcome to the podcast. That is designed to fuel your success in selling technology solutions. I'm your host, Josh Lupresto, SVP of Sales Engineering at Telarus, and this is Next Level BizTech. Hey everybody. Welcome back to a brand new chapter. We're talking about wifi, we're talking analytics, and the title of the track today is What Are the Top Three Secrets to Help Your Customers Monetize Your Wifi Platform. And hopefully by now listening to that, you're going. I can do what? And we're gonna break that down for you. So today we have got Sarah Freeman from Attollo, a tech partner of ours. Sarah, welcome on. Thank you, Josh. Sarah. So I, I, I got a lot of questions. I know we're gonna talk technology and all kinds of fun stuff but before, I would love to know everybody's path, how you get into this space. Was technology always your destiny? How did you get started? Did you do something completely different and stumble into it? How did it suck you in? Give us the breakdown. Sarah Freeman: [00:01:00] I was selling cars and I got sick of selling cars in my early twenties. I bought myself a gateway computer and I started looking for jobs on Monster and I actually had another job lined up and I thought, I'm just gonna go to the, this interview and check this place out. It sounds kind of cool. I know nothing about technology. I had just bought a gateway less than a month prior. And I got there and all the cars in the parking lot were cool. They had Corvettes and Porsches and you know, Mazdas and just all these really cool sports cars there. And you know, beavers, oh, what is this place? I walk inside, you hear everybody on the sales floor having fun. They had fun music playing on the overhead. And I looked around, I sat in the interview and I, the first thing I said to the, to the manager interviewing me was, I don't know what you guys do, but I wanna work here. And he got a kick out of that and that, that rolled me down the lines into working there. They were an HP reseller and I was hired to bring on the used Cisco networking product line. So I was [00:02:00] actually a hardware broker for the first 15 years of my career. Josh Lupresto: Got it. Beautiful. I love it. Nice cars. I would've gotten Sarah Freeman: it too. Yeah, right. It was nice cars and, and fun on the sales floor. Josh Lupresto: Yeah. All right, so, so tell us a little bit about a tolo tech. What does it mean? When did you start it? And, and, and what are some of your focuses? Sarah Freeman: Attollo means to Elevate or to Rise, and I chose that name. It is Latin partial to Latin, and I chose that name when I was running my multiple warehouses in the, in the hardware industry. I grew up and, and had my own businesses. I was running multiple warehouses. I was looking to add more to my portfolio, and at the same time I was feeling the pain of. Moving my own stack to the cloud. Which UCaaS provider do I choose? You know, the, the internet issues, all of the things that a small business has to go through to, to digitize, to move it to the next level. And it was painful. So I started looking at, you know, what can I add to my own portfolio in this process? And I read a Gartner report that said [00:03:00] everything as a service gets, makes 14% margins. Where here I was making a 4% net. Ah, and I thought, okay, we're, we're, we're doing a total pancake flip here and moving completely over onto the services side.

In this celebratory 50th episode of The Carmudgeon Show, Jason Cammisa and Derek Tam-Scott regale us with tales of their 624-mile weekend old-car road rally. Derek brought his 964-chassis Porsche 911, Jason brought "Beatrice," his beater E30-chassis BMW 325i. Two friends bought Miatas: an NC3 and an ND2. More on the Mazdas in a future episode, we promise. Derek picked a route of the twistiest back roads Northern California can offer and the boys grabbed a couple hotels. Several things occurred to them: 1. California's passing laws suck because they put the onus of pulling over on the slower, weaker driver. 2. We've found our people: they use turn signals. 3. Track days are great, but we prefer back roads. 4. Tight and twisty back roads are more fun than track - it trades repetition for adventure. 5. This is the cheapest way of enjoying a weekend. 6. Poor Beatrice. 7. Focus on the driver mod!

Have you ever wondered why a Mazda feels like a Mazda and nothing else? We'll have the answer for you in our exclusive interview with Dave Coleman, Mazda Vehicle Dynamics Manager. Host Jack Nerad had the chance to have a long discussion with Coleman on the recent first drive of the Mazda CX-50 crossover utility. And so will Mazda's philosophy about the now-popular drive modes many vehicles offer. Photo: Jack R. Nerad In the road test segment, Jack Nerad gives details on his early drive in the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe, It's the plug-in hybrid version of the midsize SUV. And Jeep executives say it is the most capable of all the Grand Cherokees. Is it? Nerad will give his opinion. Photo: Jack R. Nerad Also in the road test segment Co-Host Chris Teague will describe his weeklong test of the 2022 GMC Sierra Limited full-size pickup. The Sierra Limited is one of two 2022 model year Sierras coming to market. He'll clear up the confusion on that and tell us if the Limited is the one to buy. We also have some fascinating and important news for you. Ferrari is about to introduce a vehicle that would have Enzo Ferrari rolling over in his grave, and we'll tell you about that. Meanwhile, one state has introduced new regulations that would ban the sales of gasoline-powered cars in 2035 and beyond. We will give you the details on that and what it could mean for you. Really. Not ALL Mazdas - but enough to be perplexing. http://www.lehtoslaw.com

Social media challenges may be becoming the new public boogeyman, but one social media influencer says the platforms are not to blame. There have been a couple of stories in the past week where social media has been alleged to have played a roleAn incidence of arson in a supermarket and hundreds of Mazda thefts have both been linked to snapchat and TikTok challenges. So will chasing social media fame inevitably lead to a life of petty crime, or do we all need to take a deep breath?Mental health advocate and a TikTok influencer, Jazz Thornton told Heather du Plessis- Allan she doesn't feel the platforms can be held solely responsible.“If you've got one video that goes viral, then you've got a whole bunch of teenagers trying to do the same thing.”LISTEN ABOVE

This is an expanded version of a story that originally aired on KALW in 2018 when Yoko Arimichi and her Powell Street Blues Band were celebrating their 40th anniversary at The Saloon in North Beach. The band formed when Yoko was busking around Powell and Market Streets in the late 70s. Yoko Arimichi and her Powell Street Blues are currently one of the longest running acts at The Saloon, one of San Francisco's oldest bars. Yoko can wail on an electric guitar with a flair that combines B.B. King, Chuck Berry, and Neil Young. "We arrived [in the US] the same date, different year, but same date, that The Beatles first came to the United States. Every year February 7th I see The Beatles anniversary and I always think, mine too!" She was born in Japan and raised playing classical music, but her life changed when The Beatles came to the Tokyo Budokan in 1966. She swapped her classical flute for a guitar, finagled passage on an American cargo ship toting Mazdas from Hiroshima, and never looked back. We are back with episode 142! And we are once again joined by Joseph! We start this episode off by talking about good ol' Coronavirus, and Matt's wedding, Mitch's bottle keyring opener, and other bollocks. Matt then kicks off the actual 'car' content with talking about the car that brought his Misso to the wedding; a Jaguar Mark II. Joseph then talks about Toyota shutting down the import and sale of replica Toyota LandCruiser grilles. Matt then brings up photos of the balls-ugly Rolls Royce Cullinan SUV, and motorsport going 'online only', from which we talk about sim racing. Mitch then has some news about CarAdvice having a list of cars that are leaving the Australian market by the end of 2020. Matt then talks about how bad the fuel economy is for a naturally aspirated current Subaru Forester, from which we talk about how it's silly to have an underpowered engine in a heavy car. We then get back onto Mitch's list, from which we talk about Infinity, the Nissan Skyline, and the difference between the Infinity QX80 and the Nissan Patrol. We then talk about modifying Mazdas and chucking a fart cannon on Ben's Mazda 3. World events and pop culture aren’t mentioned very often, primarily for the sake of producing timeless Everyday Driver content. The guys explain their goals and their ongoing mindset for production of TV, YouTube, podcasts and written articles. The Topic Tuesday asks if they’re too optimistic with their debate suggestions, and they discuss sporty SUV choices for Chris in southern California. Listeners on social media ask if they guys have any podcast guests scheduled, what’s the difference between Mazdas built in Mexico or Japan, and have they camped in a tent mounted on the roof of a truck or SUV? Pilgrimage 2020 is open for reservations! Season 6 is now airing on the Motor Trend cable channel, and available on Amazon Prime and Vimeo worldwide. Rate and review us on iTunes, the Everyday Driver show on IMDB and Amazon, and write to us with your Topic Tuesday discussions and podcast debates at everydaydrivertv@gmail.com or everydaydriver.com. Polar Mazda sells Mazdas. Can you pluralize Mazda? Whatever, not important. The important question is: what makes the Mazdas polar? Is it because Minnesota is cold? Is it because it's in White Bear Lake, and polar bears are white? Perhaps we should have asked during the show.
Gears and Beers: The Unashamedly Unprofessional Automotive Podcast
We're back for episode 98! This week, Mitchell is away in Broken Hill for work, however Matt and Joseph have roped in our good mate Alex Fitzpatrick to fill Mitch's shoes this week. Joseph kicks off the news this week, starting with news about the new Mk5 Toyota Supra, specifically the two trim levels available for Australia; base and TRD both offered with the BMW 6 cylinder. There will be no 4-banger variation in Australia. Then, Joseph talks about the new manual-only $605,000 Porsche 911 Speedster. Then the boys talk about the latest change to the Supercar Mustang at the last 'SuperNight' races in Perth. Then Matt asks what Joseph has done to his GT86 this week, specifically an update about his new Rays wheels, and Fitzy talks about his car history. Then we talk about what beer we're drinking, and once again, to the absolute surprise of literally nobody, it's Great Northern. Then Matt asks the panel for their top 5 favourite cars, and then he goes through the list of cars that didn't make it make it through our knock-out rounds with Fitzy. Then the lads argue about their favourite car brands, Mazdas, ITB's and the GT86's intake sound tube, and their favourite Australian racetracks, and their least favourite car brands. Rob and Chris learn about one of the oldest living religions, Zoroastrianism. Not much is known about the Zoros, but they did love Mazdas. The Fonzie of Zoroastrianism, Zoro, was admired by all the greatest philosophers of the time and was featured on many of their mixtapes. Zoro hell is a very detailed and dark place. Zoros didn't believe in burying their dead, so they just left them in their vulture filled football stadiums. TLDR: Hail Mazda! (Zoom Zoom)

Yo! Who wants a C4 'Vette? How 'bout one with a motor as big as a whale with a cog-drive blower that works just great for smokey 'Jersey burnouts? Make the check out to Mothug Doug. Don't blink or you'll miss this excellent early Garage Hour, complete with Hostus Maximus Justin Fort, Grizzly Chris and Dirty Dave, as well as a bucketful of big words, the Chicago flag, Toyotas and Mazdas and that creepy "Zoom-Zoom" thing the Miata people do, the difference between stinky rat mummies and the smell of death from 1000ft over Iraq in a Cobra gunship, Spyker buying SAAB, Geely buying Volvo (and whatever the Hell a Geely is), and What the Hell #2: Nain Rogue. Yup, Detroit's got a demon, and we don't meant the unions - they're more of an unwanted vampire-zombie lovechild. It IS the Garage Hour, however, so there's got to be racing - we've got the Daytona and LeMans 24 Hours, what it's like to attend in person, and why Juan Pablo might be fast, but he's still a nozzle. There's also some storyline about the Panoz LMPs from LeMans and why they're so awesome despite never having won the whole scheme, plus how to get Danica Patrick to stop being such a prissy twat - now that she's in NASCAR, just let Tony Stewart beat her up. This one's special, by the by, because it's the foundation for one of the original Garage Hour promos (as heard on-air for years). If you'd like a high-res version of this episode, grab the one with the matching date and no "MP3" in the title.

In this episode the guys talk about the 2020 Mercedes GLE -- quite possibly the coolest SUV available -- and which movie cars they'd choose as a daily driver, an apocalypse survival vehicle, and as a race car.
