This could be Drew and Curt's best rambling special! Lot of hate built up over our summer break and we had to release the beast. Don't worry though, we brought a few loves as well to balance it out. We cannot wait for the NFL szn and talk a bit about it leading up to week 1...don't be surprised if we start getting offers if the performance stays ahead of the pack!

Chris discusses the hot teams, playoff races, prospects, awards, and more!
It's late August, the week after launching all of MLB Pipeline's new rankings, but there was still plenty to talk about on this week's episode. Jim Callis, Jonathan Mayo and Jason Ratliff dig some more into the new Top 100 list, examining new names on the list, including Red Sox second baseman/outfielder Kristian Campbell, Dodgers lefty Jackson Ferris and a pair of Nationals flame-throwers (one of whom isn't officially on the list . . . yet!). From there, the guys take a look at 2024 Draftees and how they've started their pro careers, focusing on guys with some upward mobility, like first-rounders Christian Moore (Angels) and Nick Kurtz (Athletics). While the Arizona Fall League doesn't start until early October, it's never too early to dream about rosters, with Jim and Jonathan providing a wish list of who they'd like to see this year before providing a "si" or "no" on if they think the top 30 prospects from the Top 100 will head to the AFL. The episode finishes, as always, with a mailbag question asking about two college bats from the Class of '24. From the BG Ad Group Studio this is your news minute on the Marietta Daily Journal Podcast presented by Credit Union of Georgia. Today is Monday, August 19th, and I'm Peyton Spurlock. Dog Days of Summer Fundraiser On August 10, the Dog Days of Summer fundraiser took place to support Officer Barney, the Crisis Response Dog, along with Officer Hill of the Marietta Police Department. Serving Marietta City Schools, these officers work to de-escalate situations and provide comfort to children in crisis, both in school and in courtrooms. Remarkably, Officer Barney and Officer Hill have also assisted in calming suicidal adults in the community. Funding for Barney's valuable support comes from private donations via the Marietta Schools Foundation, as it's not covered by the police department's budget. The fundraiser, hosted by law partners Dawn Levine and Amanda Riedling at Georgia Wills, Trusts & Probate Firm, raised nearly $3,000. Over 70 community members attended, meeting Officer Barney and hearing Officer Hill discuss their impactful program. The law firm generously donated the remaining funds to cover Barney's annual care and necessary certifications. For more news about our community, visit mdjonline.com.
