Serving Marietta City Schools, these officers work to de-escalate situations and provide comfort to children in crisis, both in school and in courtrooms. Remarkably, Officer Barney and Officer Hill have also assisted in calming suicidal adults in the community. Funding for Barney's valuable support comes from private donations via the Marietta Schools Foundation, as it's not covered by the police department's budget. The fundraiser, hosted by law partners Dawn Levine and Amanda Riedling at Georgia Wills, Trusts & Probate Firm, raised nearly $3,000. Over 70 community members attended, meeting Officer Barney and hearing Officer Hill discuss their impactful program.
