This time around I got to sit down and have a chat with local Orlando grunge-punks Matt and Dave of the Dancing Bones. These guys were beyond down-to-earth and it was a lot of fun hanging out with them; I even stuck around to play drums for some jams right after this interview was recorded. It was a lot of fun finally getting to meet up and talk about all things under the sun after playing one of my first few shows with them at Orlando's very own Iron Cow. I had been a fan since then, picking up their first CD, 2015's "Notapunk". "Notapunk" is full of in-your-face guitar spikes, gritty vocals, and noisy grooves, so if you like bands in the vein of Sonic Youth, Milk Teeth, and/or Nirvana, you'll love the album. In this episode I get to pick the band's brains about traveling, Childish Gambino and whale noises you can make with your guitar that you can also (sort of) make with your mouth. I had a lot of fun having this little chat, and if you like bands with that 90's grunge aesthetic, you'll have even more fun listening to their tunes. The band has been evolving ever since their inception though, growing into their own sound and becoming more comfortable experimenting with new vibes on their latest single release: 2018's "Stranded on the Moon". Be sure to follow the Dancing Bones on social media and check out their music anywhere you can get it. Check the link to their website below: https://www.thedancingbones.com/

That was then… The benefits of doing the podcast are many but getting to meet so many cool people is the tops. Michael Donaldson is no exception. Whether learning about the current music scene or trading war stories from back in my days in the biz I could have gone on for hours. We tried to narrow it down to an hour but that was still not enough. It looks like Michael has a lot more is store for us so watch for follow up episodes as we work towards helping to expose more of what seems to be a much more vibrant music scene than I was to believe. Michael is not only an acclaimed artist, Q-Burns Abstract Message, label owner, 8D Industries, music publisher, 8D sync but also currently continues consult artists looking to make their way in the industry. Who better to advise than one who has been through the chaos? A lot has changed since the days I have worked and marketing artists and music. It was great to hear about all that is happening here in the Orlando scene. …This is Now One last thing before you go, long time denizens of the Orlando scene are no doubt familiar with the club nite Phat and Jazzy which Michael helped get off the ground. They will be celebrating their 25th anniversary May 11th at the Iron Cow in the Milk District and Michael himself will be spinning records and looking to connect. Be sure to say hello and thank him for helping to keep the scene alive. Rob CobleWhile your in the mood for some new music be sure to check out our Producer Carlos’ web site and show him some love.
This cooperative event between Scott Riley and Mathew Scott (of Iron Cow [Orlando] was a perfect fit and opportunity to support Scott's new Mixology series. Dante Filippelli, Christopher Tennant, & Scott Riley (Deep House, Soulful House, Tech House, Progressive House, Melodic Techno) If this were a musical pot luck dinner, you would be upset and slightly irked had you not received an invite, only to see and hear about all the fun you missed out on via social media the following day. Well…that's kinda how many of our listeners felt when an impromptu pop up party sprang up and caught many off guard. The show was announced with less than twenty four hours notice. Have no fear. The crew at EarTheater didn’t want you to be left out... And in all actuality the boys sacked the original invite only private home residence affair and wanted to share proper all the talent and tunes in a club setting. The trigger fingers couldn’t fire off fast enough and open up what was intended to happen in a living room and showcase in an intimate club with top tier sound to support. A la the now infamous Iron Cow with it’s EAW sound system. This three hour epic journey is brought to you via DJ’s Dante Filippelli, Christopher Tennant & Scott Riley in their respective orders of duty. The only member listed on the bill and not accounted for in the mix is Scot Shapiro. All speculation aside its nice to see individual care in making sure that those who could not attend are not left out with attention to detail in the recording of these special events. EarTheater has always prided themselves in the best possible sound using only the best recording techniques and this edition stands tall in sonic fortitude. - John Berry
