Shana (bravely) recaps Love is Blind and we discuss Cynthia Ervio's night at the Oscars as well as her being named a headliner for World Pride.Later in the show, we explain when it's ok to avoid coming out to a family member and if pretty privilege should excuse another queer person's ignorance. But that was before the election. This week, with WorldPride projected to draw three million visitors in just a few months, Booz Allen abruptly withdrew as a sponsor — apparently worried that merely supporting a global gay festival would put it on the wrong side of its dominant customer: President Donald Trump's federal government. “They have a lot of federal contracts,” said Ryan Bos, the organizer of WorldPride, who explained that Booz Allen had indicated that sponsoring WorldPride could put it out of compliance with Trump's executive order forbidding diversity, equity and inclusion rules in federal contracting. “They made the decision that to protect their business, they did not want to risk the backlash.” https://odysee.com/@LukeFordLive, https://lbry.tv/@LukeFord, https://rumble.com/lukeford https://dlive.tv/lukefordlivestreams Superchat: https://entropystream.live/app/lukefordlive Bitchute: https://www.bitchute.com/channel/lukeford/ Soundcloud MP3s: https://soundcloud.com/luke-ford-666431593 Code of Conduct: https://lukeford.net/blog/?p=125692 https://www.patreon.com/lukeford http://lukeford.net Email me: lukeisback@gmail.com or DM me on Twitter.com/lukeford, Best videos: https://lukeford.net/blog/?p=143746 Support the show | https://www.streamlabs.com/lukeford, https://patreon.com/lukeford, https://PayPal.Me/lukeisback Facebook: http://facebook.com/lukecford Feel free to clip my videos. When Dannii Minogue convinced her parents to let her try out for Young Talent Time at the age of seven, she had no idea of the impact it would have – not only on her life, but that of the entire family, too. Because back in the early ‘80s, Minogue was just another surname in the suburban phone book. Today, of course, it’s so much more than that. It’s Dannii. It’s Kylie. It’s disco and dancing and reality TV. It’s World Pride and Mardi Gras and being an ally. On this episode of Something To Talk About, Dannii joins Sarrah to discuss her love of matchmaking, her “lowest moment” – and what it was really like growing up Minogue. You can see more of Dannii Minogue on I Kissed A Girl, streaming on Binge, and, as of February 20, also on I Kissed A Boy with new episodes dropping 8.30pm on Thursdays on Binge. Under the new administration, apart from two military related flags, only the American flag is to be flown or displayed at government building. An executive order calls out The PRIDE and BLM flags specifically as not allowed. It will be interesting to see how Washington, DC handles World Pride this June. Then, Paul Reubens, of Pee Wee Herman fame, comes out in a soon to be released film entitled, “Pee-Wee as Himself.” Finally, the “corpse flower” is blooming in Brooklyn and people are lining up to smell the putrid plant. Dive into Jennifer Nerio's latest work, Aftertaste, where she masterfully blends humor and introspection to explore the impermanence of memory and life itself. Through playful imagery like melting popsicles and vanitas-inspired portraits, Nerio invites us to reflect on fleeting moments and familial legacy with a mix of levity and depth. Her participation in The Bureau of Queer Art's residency has pushed her work into more personal and existential territory, making Aftertaste one of her most intimate and thought-provoking pieces yet. In this episode of Redefining Family, host Jonathan Wilson speaks with BJ Barone and Frankie Nelson, a couple whose lives changed when a photo of their son's birth went viral. BJ and Frankie, both high school teachers, reflect on how much society has evolved, noting how being gay is now more accepted compared to the struggles they faced growing up.Frankie shares his difficult coming out experience and the painful years of keeping his sexuality a secret from his father. BJ, raised in a Catholic family with rigid expectations, discusses his own journey of self-discovery and acceptance. Despite these challenges, the two have been together for 17 years, overcoming obstacles along the way.Their story includes their engagement in 2008, marriage in 2010, and the difficulties BJ faced in having his family accept Frankie, especially during holidays. Frankie also shares how overcoming drug addiction and the desire to become a father helped him find purpose.Their dream of becoming parents was realized through a smooth surrogacy journey in Canada. BJ and Frankie talk about choosing an egg donor and surrogate, leading to the birth of their son, Milo, during Toronto's World Pride weekend. The birth was captured in a powerful photo that quickly went viral. However, the joy of that moment was overshadowed when their photo was misused by anti-LGBTQ+ campaigns in Ireland and Italy. In 2016, BJ and Frankie took legal action, and after a seven-year battle, they won—a significant victory for LGBTQ+ rights in Italy. In this episode, BJ and Frankie share their journey, their love, and their dedication to making the world a better place for their son and the LGBTQ+ community.
Hello my friendsA few words at the top here before the episode starts. I had to rearrange some interviews I had lined up for this week — so I'm pulling a great conversation out of the archive for you. Given that last weekend was Mardi Gras, I thought I'd replay this wonderful panel conversation we recorded just over a year ago in conjunction with World Pride. It was a great chat with Karl, Karen and Tash — certainly worth listening to either for the first time or to catch something new on a second listen. I also wanted to take a moment here to highlight the Gaza Ceasefire Pilgrimages which have been happening during Lent. The circumstances in Gaza continue to be horrendous. I'm sure so many of you, like me, feel at a loss for words and for the right actions. If you haven't already heard of the Gaza Ceasefire Pilgrimage this has become a worldwide movement of Christian groups hosting 41km walks — the length of Gaza — as an act of solidarity as well as a nonviolent protest, calling for a permanent ceasefire. These walks are hosted by Christians, welcoming of people from all or no faith background, and are built around strong core convictions, including condemning anti-semitism, which is not the same thing as critiquing the Israeli government. At Meeting Ground church, we will be doing 4 10km walks during Holy Week, starting on Palm Sunday. As we prepare to reflect on the crucified Christ at Easter, I cannot think of a more pertinent time to try to connect our bodies, minds and hearts with those who are unjustly crucified, scapegoated and oppressed — in our world today. If you happen to be on the Central Coast and you want to join us reach out. Otherwise, check out gazaceasefirepilgrimage.com to learn more and connect with groups and organisers in your neck of the woods. I know many listeners will have already participated in pilgrimages in recent weeks, and if that's the case, big respect to you and your crew. Where ever you find yourself this week may you turn your ears and your voice and your being in the direction of love that perseveres. Dylan Forbis - transgender activist, Jimbo - Drag All Star, Late Night Catechism NunAs the vibrant hues of Houston's Pride rainbow unfurl, we're joined by Dylan Forbis, a transgender man whose tapestry of activism has positioned him as a candidate for Houston Pride 365 Grand Marshal. Dillon's story is a beacon for the LGBTQIA community, a testament to resilience amidst Texas' evolving legislative landscape. His dreams of reveling in the joyous celebrations of World Pride and Mexico City's Pride remind us of the universal quest for equality and acceptance. This week, our conversation also dazzles with the unexpected twists of Jimbo, the beloved queen from RuPaul's Drag Race All-Stars, whose artistry at the crossroads of clowning and drag promises a kaleidoscope of joyful surprises. Simultaneously, Denise Fennell's emotive discourse on her role in "Sisters Irish Catechism" reveals the nurturing embrace of Houston's theater scene for growth and inclusivity.Venture behind the sequins and extravagant breastplates with Jimbo as she recounts her journey from a biologist to a theatrical costume designer and, ultimately, to a drag performer who captures hearts with her authenticity. Hear how her 'gay audacity' led her from sewing to the spotlight, crafting a drag persona that defies convention and captivates audiences. Meanwhile, Denise Fennell opens up about the serendipitous twists in her acting career that have woven her into the fabric of Houston's artistic community, including the unexpected challenges and triumphs of performing one-woman shows and fostering a sense of belonging within the diverse tapestry of the local theater. This episode isn't just about the spotlights; it's a salute to the unseen threads of support and solidarity that hold our community together. As artists, we navigate the peaks and valleys of critiques, drawing strength from the shared experiences and wisdom of our peers. We honor the mentors who shape our paths and the emotional resilience required to keep the show going. With a nod to our contributors Andrew Edmondson and Deborah Moncrief Bell, we reaffirm our commitment to stories that resonate with authenticity and vibrancy, ensuring the spirit of Queer Voices remains a beacon of inclusivity for all who listen.Queer Voices airs in Houston Texas on 90.1FM KPFT and is heard as a podcast here. June 2019 was especially deadly for trans women of color. Amidst a celebration of World Pride and the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, a crowd of 600 people came together to mourn Layleen Polanco. Just days after receiving the news that her sister died, Melania Brown found herself fighting her fear of public speaking to address the crowd and lead the call for justice. As weeks and months passed, organizing efforts continued to gain momentum, as did investigations and lawsuits surrounding Layleen's death - some culminated in disappointing decisions, while others marked historic wins.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Sydney, Australia's David Jones department store really rocked the World Pride scene, despite the expected backlash. Corporate rep Ross Sabatini talks about the campaign's service to the public and the bottom line, and correspondent Barry McKay meets the big display window performers and records the reactions of people passing by. And in NewsWrap: the Supreme Court of Ghana rejects a lawsuit aimed at stopping Parliament's consideration of a probably unconstitutional anti-LGBTQ bill, Kenya's “Family Protection Act” is mimicking Uganda's “Kill the Gays” law, the names of non-biological lesbian mothers are being disappeared from their children's birth certificates by Italy's far-right government, Jamaica's refusal to grant diplomatic immunity to the husband of a gay U.S. diplomat is becoming an international riff, the Indiana Roman Catholic high school guidance counselor fired when her marriage to a woman was discovered loses in appeals court, a notorious San Francisco church hosts a Drag Queen Bible Story Hour, and more international LGBTQ news reported this week by Michael LeBeau and Ava Davis (produced by Brian DeShazor). When Electric Fields first burst onto the scene, they grabbed everyone's attention. This South Australian duo of Zaachariaha and Michael brought beauty, beats, and a soaring sensibility to all they did.
