The Reverend's latest set is best understood as a volume of musical work; a streaming pulp fiction of audio. It is large enough that we have split it in two sets. Instead of paying attention to a single genre, the songs are stitched together across decades; ambience, balearic, downgroove, and acapellas. Using a colorful and artful canvas the atmospheres draw out emotions and influences which play like a history lesson in one DJs ever-expanding mind and ear. Like the birth of a slow and beautiful sunrise across open lands, the mix takes a full 13 minutes to draw you in.  Next, that first dose of dance is anything but tranquil.  The acidy synths only add to the high as the tracks dive immediately underground.  Dante is known for the most diverse sets on our podcast and yet he still lays down a tribal throughline from beginning to end.  The music surprises inside are one earbomb after another for 2 hours.  There are slices between big dance tracks where you can catch your breath, but those selections too come with an intensity and passion for electronic rhythms like only Dante can do. Our hearts go out to everyone suffering through the earthquake. In this latest release from Dante, he definitely takes us on a voyage and at times this mix most assuredly feels haunted. The set begins with an homage to the past and lures you in with it's safe accessibility, but the set list quickly morphs into a more assertive sound that energizes the spirit and your curiosity. One can sense an ominous tone as the tracks progress in both dark chords and tempo. By the time you're halfway through, Dante gives us an energy level that's perfect for big room dance floors, and just as you're yearning for a bit of a break, the denouement of the mix begins and he sends us off with dreamy, funky positive vibes.
